  1. Awakens work great if you are ready for their limitations. Awaken + Break Free + Blue + Green = Ready to go. I line them up in that order on my fifth column so I can just mash F5 and be ready to go again (or run like the wind). For some high level characters where I just don't need them very often, I'll disable them so they don't clog up the tray, but I'll stop and buy one or combine one if I end up using the one I keep in reserve.

  2. Just to follow up: @Bopperwas completely correct in this regard. I've attached a screen of a demonling attacking. They debuff res by 15%, but as a -2 that should only be 80% as effective if the purple patch was in play - ie. 12% -res So as he suspected, minions are getting 20% extra damage and luts are getting 10% extra damage by way of the purple patch not impacting them vs pylons. In the case of demons this is compounded by the fact that they debuff so much resistance, which impacts the damage of the other pets/damage sources. So for something like my demon/

  6. USe email for only emergency in map resupply, use /ah for a stash to resupply in between maps. I also want to say frankly, while the above has long been around, I do see this as far far more impacting to the game than the /base teleport command. Outside of cheating death on a master run, such only impacts the speed of our travel around the city. Being able to store extra insps in email and /ah to instant access its storage anywhere in the game world actually gives us extra power in combat. Personally I think anyone saying /base tp is game breaking, while never mentionin

  8. I get that for most of the game, AOE is king of basically any mission clearing. That doesn't mean, every set has to be good at it. Or even decent at it. And for everyone claiming AOE is king, they have plenty of AOE options out there.

  9. They are useful. They make you realize the impact of a Primary/Secondary/Epic resurrect power. Plus if you have a power set that provides mez protection, it gives you an opportunity to use it when someone rez'es. Additionally, if you are soloing, try pulling a mob away from where they are standing to fight them. If you die they will leash back and you can more safely rez and survive the disorient. In the early game it is more useful to have inspirations that cover your weak spots and Awakens shouldn't be a weak spot. If you die too often, there is a solution that isn't an Awaken (y

  12. Excluding Powers From Bonus Calculations A new ability in version 0.0.20 allows you to select powers to be excluded when calculating bonuses, while still allowing the powers to get IOs that produce bonuses. In the example below we want to try out the new Mez Resistance template, but we have a power, Rune of Protection, that produces Mez Resistance. We don't want that power's effects considered by the Bonus Wizard. We start the Bonus Wizard, load the Mez Reistance template and head to the third screen. There we see a new option that allows us to contro

  15. @killigraphy I hear what you are saying. Though referencing WoW and FFXIV provides me zero context. If Energy Melee is to be a superior single target set. Is it worth chasing AoE at the expense of that single target focus? If Energy Transfer was reverted first and completely, that may open up the opportunity for other discussion. BUT if the AoE discussion is going to be at the cost of the single target focus it is a non starter for a bunch of folks.

  18. I'm cross-posting this from the Badge Patrol thread because it's probably more helpful to have it standalone than it is to have it buried halfway down that thread. Going through Ouroboros to "Echo: Atlas Park" takes you to a zone that was not in the version of CoH on the live servers and therefore is not on Paragon Wiki. I offer this guide to help find those pesky Exploration badges in this zone. 21. It's been a while since I posted in the thread. I've been trying to sprinkle 'likes' on the posts which match my views: I don't need (or want) AoE in Energy Melee. There are enough other sets for that. If I want pom poms on another set, it's one visit to the Tailor/Facemaker. I don't want any new extra mechanics. No "splashes". No "combos". No "stacking" (except for existing Stuns), keep reading. I like the Stuns and I would sacrifice them in PvP to keep things 'balanced', if that is even an issue any more. I want the classic set returned to single-target dominance. I'm

  25. I don't know if this is a mechanic per se but I like the missions that you enter one place and inside the mission you click on doors and experience different maps then the final exit is a door that takes you to the other side of the zone or a different zone entirely.

  26. Not to disagree with you Six Six but Ice/Ice gets 3 single target holds, which is enough to lock down EBs and AVs when they don't have mezz immunity. The combo shines as a boss killer.

  28. #1 might feel morally shady to most people but in truth, it helps with price discovery and benefits you when you're on the other end of that trade. Logically, the average player should be an equal supplier and consumer of goods on the AH. If he isn't - if, specifically, he buys more stuff from the AH than he supplies - then that means he's generating less drops per inf than the average player, contributing more to inflation (and thus, price hikes). Flipping and farming are correlated in that these two activities have counterintuitive effects. That is, we tend to think o

  30. It's the "99 Elixir" problem. You think you'll only need the consumable for the really tough stuff, so you hold on to all the ones you find while you wait for the tough fight. Before you know it, you've beaten the game and didn't use a single one (and probably even left a few dozen laying on the ground due to running out of space). I'm very guilty of this, but I like to think it made me a much better player of those games. Being able to beat tough encounters without using items makes you think harder or optimize better. Usually.

  31. Ok here is what I do. Buy 2 Aegis something or other. Forget I put 2 in the how many field and buy 2 Armaggedon 5 piece sets. Discover my mistake when slotting because I am daft and didnt notice it when I got them from AH. Set extras for sale in AH for 100 and promptly dispose of about 10m inf per enh for a 50m total loss. You need a category for daft fools.

  33. Remove entire maps from the game just because they are annoying? I agree they are annoying but they are a part of the game that gives it its flavor. If we start removing things from the game because they are "annoying" and not because they are broken/OP in some aspect, what are we going to end up with? The way i think about it is: from a hero's perspective some foes build good bases (buildings/labs and such) and other foes are terrible at it, but they all still need to be arrested. 🙂

  35. That's a good build, but the problem is it's just a build. It's not a set of options designed and endorsed for the play style. When folks ask for a support/melee combo, we typically do so coming from a place of already having the fiction we want fulfilled. That's much larger than a radioactive time traveler with electricity powers. It also sucks to wait until your 40s to fulfill your fiction. Meanwhile, I think Manipulation/Support would be easier to build and balance... But then we would need Medieval Manipulation to make the Time Gladiator.

  36. If you think you may fall in defeat, go to an area that the mob isn't set to be "neutral" at and go down fighting there. They'll wander back to their original positions, hopefully outside of re-aggro range, letting you stand back up. The only time I find Awakens useless is when it's an ambush spawn that takes you down since they'll immediately come back for you if you hit that button.

  38. I guess I'm a wimp. I have always run at default levels (+0/1 I think?), and when I get to 30+ mission contact on Redside, adjust to -1/1 on my squishier characters (dominators, corruptors). There are only a few times when I've adjusted upwards, on some particularly strong characters. I mostly solo, though.

  41. A mechanic I *believe* only my Warshades have: Varying something by the rank of the target. Notably in Stygian Circle. (I know people sometimes think the extracted essence is "stronger" if you do it on a boss, but it's not.) Healing is stronger the higher rank the defeated enemy is.

There's a reason that this exact resource constraint is mentioned so prominently, because many of us have experience in and currently work in fields that involve computer, software, firmware and design engineering. @Redlynneis exactly on point.

  43. Many of you make some fine arguments for different changes on different sides of the issue. I'll be very candid. To me, there are several aspects of CoH that are fairly simple to someone who's leveled a character to t-4 incarnate a few times (or more). For a newer, less-experienced player, those aspects aren't as simple. A small learning curve for those folks. I envy them, a bit. It's very easy to say, "If the game is too easy, don't use IOs, or turn off all your inspirations at p2w." (or other suggestions along those lines.) Yet, someone pointed out that there's no t

  49. Here's how I see it. It's been a month or so since the Double Influence was disabled / nerfed / removed / your-choice-of-verb-here. There is NO WAY that the devs are unaware of the amount of pushback from people who feel that this was a serious mistake / insult / whatever. The dev have also had an entire month to collect data, observe what has in fact happened. Did a bunch of people quit? Has there been a spike of inflation or deflation? Are certain things posted less often or more often? Has this set out to do what they intended,

  50. Thanks for the reply. I played a bit more of the later missions- specifically the (Solo Story) missions where you play as Tyrant and Anti-Matter but I'm still really confused on why Praetorians invaded Primal Earth? How successful was that attack? What was the outcome of it? I'm guessing from piecing together the few bits I know that Praetorians invaded Primal Earth because Primal Earth invaded Praetoria first, it seemed like a retaliation, I heard also that some Praetorian "Heroes" (as in Signature Heroes, not Player Heroes) are locked up? It's all very confusing.
