  2. I think it is important to once again state that there is a difference between not liking an change and providing negative feedback with possible alternative and outright insulting the dev team. There has been plenty of negative feedback about various changes that has been good and done without insults. However, there has also been a lot of “feedback” that has devolved into basically, “the devs aren’t doing what I want and therefore they don’t listen to feedback, are lazy, and have no good reasons for changing things.” There is a very big difference. One is is expected and

  3. Time and time again do we see the oft-suggested 'Melee/Support' archetype. It comes in different names, but rarely in different structure. There's no doubt that there is a demand for an archetype that can fill the role, but despite the constant vocalisation of that it tends to eventually be drowned out by the slew of feedback that questions its viability. Without going into too much detail, there are issues in the Melee/Support design that are problematic, many of which lie with the Support side of things. Not all Support sets are suitable for operating in close range, and many of

  5. This is misinformation. Prior to the i27 Beta, Touch of Fear did not do damage on any archetype. Touch of Fear was never a high damage single target attack. It is not a high damage single target attack on the live servers. Here are the steps that I took to verify the current status and history of Touch of Fear: I checked RubyRed's API. I checked the Paragon Wiki archives, and the Homecoming wiki. I logged into my Dark Melee Scrapper on Everlasting, respecced into Touch of Fear, and tested it. I observed my combat logs. 6. I was working out some numbers showing the improvement in ST DPS of new EM compared with old EM (pre-I12, not the current EM). These are simple chains, no critical hits, no procs, just raw damage. I looked at 3 chains for old EM: TF/BS/ET/EP/BS, TF/EP/ET/BS/EP, and TF/BS/ET/gap/BS (assumed 500% recharge to minimize the gap). I chose these chains as they were the ones folks seemed to have mentioned either in this thread or via PMs. If anyone has an old EM chain that they used that can outperform these, let me know and I'll analyze it. For the new EM, I picked a fairly basic chai

  8. This one is subjective, so you'll probably want to relent a little on that perspective - otherwise it'll just be fuel for a debate that could probably be avoided. I didn't play EM back on NCSoft, but I can see the auto fast ET giving a different panel of options than now - it's to be expected when it acted that way all the time. For those of you that were already playing ET optimally, it's more likely the new changes seem familiar, or capture the spirit of old ET more effectively. The below is more aimed at everyone, including me. People are allowed to feel differently about t

  10. Definitely not, because Yulaw does not succeed in killing Gabe and is not himself killed, but instead is sent to the Stygian Penal Colony in the Hades Universe to serve out his life sentence, and thus neither of them become The One. Though Yulaw does swear he will be! I guess we'll never know! 10/10 film, perfect in every way, etc.

  11. Well, this isn't going anywhere helpful, probably time to lock the thread. Regarding the OP - the timing of those things was merely a coincidence. The weekly discussion topics are community voted, not chosen by us. The Energy Melee rework was in progress for a long time, we just didn't have the resources to do a proper testing / polish pass until recently.

  12. With all due respect. Could you please at least consider the possibility that the real problem here is NOT the people who actually tested the changes and expressed a disagreement of them for one reason or another but that it might actually be the die-hard dev-yes-men forum warriors who are attacking said beta testers for saying anything that remotely criticizes these changes?

  13. I havent found "the one". When my girls hit 50 they get a special set build with lots of uberness and fanciness. Then I play them for a couple weeks building incarnates. Most of them get boring in this span and I admit to doorsitting sometimes to gather threads. Right now I am working on my MA/wp scrappers incarnates and I haven't gotten bored with her yet. Although I also havent even decided which powers to build on her...I am just racking up parts so when I do decide it'll be fast. Is "the one" even out there? I think of it like a husband...I had one, it didnt wo

  14. I know that I'm in a minority here, but I like armor sets that give me things to do. Managing my clickies in Bio armor gives some added interest in play. Clicks in armor sets in CoH seem to be heavily heals/absorbs (and endurance tools). There are only a few cases I can think of where you get click defense or click resist, usually as a secondary effect of a heal or endurance heal. Doesn't seem any inherent reason why that would have to be the case, and it means that if you have my preference for a click-heavy set, you get pushed towards healing/absorb based sets like bio, rad, o

  15. Or we could just not worry and wibble about what the tophats-and-monocles crowd is going to do, and actually let the "little people" enjoy a discount on something for a few weeks.... Because the truth is, no matter WHAT the rest of the game population is up to, the marketeers are still going to keep on making bank in some fashion. Rather they make 100 billion from buying up discounted Winter packs or spend the same three weeks making a 80 billion flipping IOs, they're still going to be out there turning a profit and when you get to that level of wealth, 20 billion here or there is

  18. Yeah I agree completely. This design direction really doesn't feel like the right one to me. As has been pointed out upthread; if it is expected that a player will respec out of ToF then Dark Melee as a set has actually been made worse overall at aoe due to the throttling back of SM. I liked the old idea of changing DC into a more useable aoe and can't really see why ToF had to be changed from being anything other than a control (maybe it could stand being turned into an aoe control/debuff though).

  19. Yeeaahh maybe I should have used the train wreck gif instead. @ScarySai Look buddy. There are no prerequisites to providing feedback. Sure you could have stated a preference, or proposed that feedback without test might be discounted. The whole premise of your 'PSA' is highly subjective. There are plenty of folks who could provide some feedback just based on experience or simply based on the numbers presented. I'm not saying you are completely wrong but it is sad to see anyone be such a butt hole about it. It is also disappointing to see so many folks t

  20. First you have to define "the One" Is "the One" Jet-Li? Is "the One" from Babylon5? (if so, Which "the One" are you talking about?) Is "the One" an emo Jedi that hates sand? Is "the One" a cyber hacker that followed a white rabbit? So many "the Ones" to choose from... That might be the reason a lot of people have Alitis...

  23. Strangely, you haven't seemed to share them either. You've played this game since live, Vanden. (The name and icon are easily remembered.) This same mechanic was there all through live - this is nothing new. And yet only NOW, for some odd reason, you decide it's "unfair" (which it isn't) and see the need to rant and rave about what everyone else just blows off. It wasn't introduced in the last patch, it isn't a new mechanic, it's not something that they're watching to see if it needs rebalancing. It's been there since the beginning. It's been there through ED, through IOs, through incarnates,

  26. This is something I've kicked around a bit internally, but with a twist. The idea is to make to-hit chances above 95% possible, but not easy. It wouldn't simply be a matter of just getting 5% more tohit, but applying some sort of severe diminishing returns curve for every point past 95% you push it. Ideally it would be tuned so that if you're a level 50 in Atlas smacking hellions around, you get either 100% tohit or close to it. But if you're fighting a +4 AV, it would be nearly impossible to get close to 100 unless you have massive buffs. In between, could be something you could c

  27. Hello everyone! Today we have a simple question for everyone: What do you want to see out of a legitimate, licensed City of Heroes server? As a caveat, this thread is not a Q&A and we won’t be answering questions here. We’re primarily looking to gather everyone’s thoughts and feedback about what they’d like to see from us going forward - both operationally and for the game itself! - The Homecoming Team

More shinies aren't going to hold your interest in the game once the new wears off, as it has all the other accomplishments already in the game. Sometimes people need to go walk around the park, or call a friend on the phone, or even play a different game. I get antsy at work just counting the minutes til I get to come home and log in and play so I really dont understand people having to convince themselves to do so. I mean, if it's not fun just take a break for a while and come back wh

  29. I agree with @Ura Heroand @Yomo Kimyatain that pricing strategy is huge for the market. Undercutting is a common and accepted strategy, but it’s not necessarily a clear cut discount to steal the sale methodology. The market is will always match the lowest sale with the highest bidder. However, the only information it gives is the last 5 sales. Say the last 5 show 2m each. It would be reasonable to think that you could list for 2m. So let’s say you list your IO for 2m. The next day you see the last 5 sales are between 2m and 2.3m, but yours didn’t sell. So you think “w

  30. If you were skipping total focus, it may seem slow but actually was a high burst attack especially under build up. I remember pre nerf I ran just about every possible combination to maximise dps and TF always ended up in the chain because it usually provided a one two punch to either take out a boss outright in combo with ET or 2 lieu in combo with ET. The rest of the attacks were at best fillers - bone smasher was decent, but they really didnt hold a candle to the 1-2 punch you had with ET and TF as a one two combo - especially under build up because you could fit 2 ET

  34. This is why it trickles. You have to price at least slightly cheaper than it sells for to move stuff at a decent clip. While I won't tell you how much I undercut, it is enough that most everything still sells for average price and not so much that I lose much influence if it doesn't. I try to keep the price where it is and if you undercut properly, you can't tell because most people are "Buy it Nao!" Trial and error will get you to that sweet spot.

  35. I'm sure I've shared this story before, but it still makes me laugh. When I was first playing, I didn't understand what was meant by "brb bio". I'm sure we all do know, but my dumb child brain once thought it meant "brb, writing my biography." So here I thought people were stopping mid mission - sometimes even mid fight - just to get that creative idea down before it vanished. Or maybe they spotted a typo and just had to fix it then and there. And nobody ever questioned it. What really baffled me was that sometimes people who went brb to write their biograph

  38. Something I discovered completely by accident: In part 4 of the Who Will Die? signature story arc, heroside, you'll fight numerous ghostly copies of Malaise and Aurora Borealis. These count for the Bloody Hands/Hero Slayer badge. I did this arc in a duo with a buddy, and for only two heroes the arc spawned enough of these enemies to give my character the badge from no progress at all. This badge unlocks Lord Schweinzer for villains, who lets you flashback to any mayhem mission you've outleveled. Get the exploration badges in all of them and you unlock the Invader/Task Force Commander accolade.

  41. I get the impression that @Wavicle is right, it's just not meant to be a very strong power, and Dark Melee's strength is supposed to lie in its single-target damage and utility. It's just there so that the set actually has AoE potential to speak of.

  42. I feel there has now been great deal of feedback about how bad ToF is from a variety of perspectives. Is there any chance we can get a revision to this power?

  43. That I know. It doesn't drop. That was specifically what I started testing - that the sustains all worked when mezzed.

  44. It looks to me like the devs want the set to be only Ok at AoE, not Very Good at it. It has good single target damage and good utility. Now it has Ok AoE, though only just Ok.

  45. After combat begins. But my arguments have been about a Blaster hitting BU, then EMP Arrow, and then being guaranteed that no mob gets missed as they proceed to AoE the spawn with no risk for the next few seconds. Or worse, a Dominator (some of whom have access to Aim or an equivalent), who can do the same to a spawn even if it has Bosses. Right now, the chance that someone important is missed turns each spawn into a risky event that makes you pay attention. But allowing some builds to start a fight off with guaranteed AoE mezzes and/or kills on everyone within their mag limit or damage limit

  46. Having played with these Dark Melee changes on the Test Server, I have mixed feelings. On one hand, I normally skip Touch of fear on my build, so making it into a damage power renews my interest in taking it. However, on the other hand, Touch of Fear as it is on the Test Server doesn't function very well in my opinion, hitting too few critters and taking too long to deliver out the full damage to them. As it stands, the small radius of the power makes hitting more than a few (3-ish maybe?) of the critters surrounding me difficult, if not impossible;. The Damage over Time aspect

  48. Ja I agree to an extent, some changes are good like the no incarnates except alpha only. Some feel a bit weird though like the no temps and acco changes. Zoners are usually more casual players, so idk if forced arena rules is best way to approach it or else why aren't they in the arena now? Though Most zoners don't seem to use forums either so I don't think will hear their opinion till changes go live. I just don't want to take away from their experience to better fit the arena people who never zone any who. I personally think getting rid of the base macro and incarnates would be best for now.
