  2. I am bored, so I decided to interview a few Praetorian citizens. I found several things: Citizens have about 10 - 11 lines of response. Citizens change their replies every minute, which eventually loops to their initial line after 10 minutes. Each citizen may have a different set of answers. So far, I have found 18 arrays of replies. Let's say you speak with a Praetorian, and the answer is, "There's a tunnel running under the whole city to keep everything running smoothly.".   3. The issue with "Don't use it" doesn't actually address the issue, though. The complaint that "the game is to easy." ends there. It does NOT necessarily have an implicit "for me" at the end. If it did, then yes, removing your level shifts and reducing your character's power would be an effective way of regaining some sense of challenge.... EXCEPT if you get on a team and suddenly everyone ELSE is judgmenting spawns before you can get an attack off. And they're all taking hits that would kill you, and avoiding attacks that you can't; or maybe someone ELSE hit you with their barrier and you're

  4. Literally the third line of code in each of these powers is a check to make sure the player paid cash for it, so I would be careful what lessons you extract from the files.

  5. What burns me more than anything is spending the game fighting +4s only to reach the end game and find out it caps out at +3 or even +1. That said, I hope what's still coming in clear is how much I respect differing opinions on the issue. Threads don't go on for 40 pages unless people care, and clearly in this case they do. I respect the passion people have, I hope they respect the passion I and others have about Level Shifts and how I wish end game still meant fighting enemies that were scaled for me. I don't feel that with the current state of the end game.

  7. Yes, one of those examples is to restrict Level Shifts to iTrials. 😄 There are a lot of forum disagreements I "get," but I'm surprised by the Level Shift one. Being able to run around Dark Astoria and get +4 rewards versus +1 enemies while the rest of the team fights +5s strikes me as misperforming both in theory and when actually playing it. I understand we all have our points of view so I won't call anyone who disagrees absolutely wrong, it just surprises me it's a topic of conversation. More than anything what I do not want to see is +6 +7 and whatnot enemies added just to try to of

When you want to bring down one of the most powerful beings in existence, you better bring an OP combination. God-Breaker (WM/Shield Scrapper) Not using a cape because it clips badly with the shoulder pads. Going to switch out the hammer for Rularuu's Fury after I complete the TF.

  9. So Miss T has finally dinged 20 after finishing Helix's and Aaron Walker's arcs, and they were great! Why? GHOULS! Fat Bottomed Ghouls, the Ghoul from Ipanema, Ghouls, Ghouls, Ghouls! Every arc needs more Ghouls! I'm very much enjoying running all these arcs for the first time slowly, but I can't imagine running them more than once each. Nowadays, I like redside missions, and I vastly prefer the other content (like TFs or radios) either redside or blueside. And I'd really like to see more elite bosses. I still have some missions from Calvin Scott, and I can run the Penelope

  11. It strikes me that there might be a fundamental 'how we see the world differently' thing at play in these discussions. I find myself just as confused by the arguments given against trying to alter game balance when the desire is only to improve the teaming experience in what is still an mmo.

  12. What you are suggesting can be averted by you unclicking 3 options if you dont like them - rather than changing it for -probably what I would guess the majority enjoys it the way it currently is.

  13. A few things, some of which have been touched on - 1. If someone told you you have to play on high settings, they're wrong. You don't have to be fighting EBs/AVs all the time or at jacked up levels. Do what Sailboat said. Play at the level you're *comfortable* at. When it starts feeling too easy, then turn it up. 2. You don't have to delete and reroll if you make a mistake. If you're level 30, you have at least three respecs just waiting for you. You cannot change your archetype, origin or power sets, but you *can* change the powers you picked within them as well as yo

  14. As I've said before, what the original devs designed or intended is of little importance now. The current devs have to work with the game as it currently is where a snowball effect of lots of changes over time have resulted in the gameplay balance issues we see at the high end. Incarnate content is clearly limited and by all accounts adding new content is time consuming and difficult. Therefore it seems to make sense to me to look at the content that already exists to try to make that as playable as possible and I think removing level shifts would be a big step in that direction.   15. I interviewed a few citizens. Some point me to an interesting or important place. Others give me funny and sometimes weird retort. Usually, each citizen has a set of 10-11 answers. Some sets are similar, so I group them to save space. I think I'll post their answer here. There's a useful IPC location just down the street in Imperial City. I store all my valuables there!   16. We've had this argument before. I don't know if it was earlier in this thread or elsewhere, but hardcapping defense to 35% or 40% is a no go. It can't happen, nor will it ever happen. If it should ever come to pass, expect a mass exodus of players to other servers.

  18. I PUG a great deal, Tex, and I assure you that most of the playerbase that I have encountered isn’t fighting +4s as their standard challenge. This past morning, I joined a full Citadel where I was the only one with any Set bonuses of any kind and those teams are quite common on Excelsior. This. We all need to keep in mind that Paragon Studios never had the chance to give us the years of content to go with all of the Incarnate-level power that we currently possess.   20. Dark Astoria is Incarnate content, and was intended as a *solo* Incarnate path. It was never meant for teams, or at best small teams. As Incarnate content, the level shifts absolutely should apply.

  26. Let's talk about mistakes. I make mistakes ALL THE TIME. I already documented converting by rarity instead of by category. Happens all the time. Or accidentally converting in set because you had the wrong button pushed. It's no big deal -- there's lots of inf out there and losing a little on user error is not a bid deal. Another thing I do all the time is not leave myself enough inf for posting fees, which are 5% of your offer price. Sure, you *can* offer at 5 inf, but then you take the risk you *do* sell it at 5 inf. Or pricing something too high -- if it doesn't sell in your time fra

  28. So, I finished up Seer 1381's arc, had some laughs, and have finally made it to the big leagues in Neutropolis! Good story arc, nice Elite Boss at the end. Now that I've gotten some IO slotting under my belt, things are getting a little too easy. I really don't want to rush xp, or to turn xp off, so instead of increasing number of mobs, I'm going to move up to +2 missions. I just picked up Proton Volley at lvl 16, so I now have four single target attacks (the mandatory Neutrino Bolt, X-Ray Beam, Toxic Dart, and Proton Volley) and two kind of crappy targeted AoE (Irradiate and Electron Haze

  29. Just hit lvl 14 on Miss T, and I've been doing some work for this doctor guy, didn't quite get his name. Dr. Hfuhruhurr? Something like that. So I get jumped by a bunch of ghouls!   31. At level 10, some observations about Praetoria: I like it! It's different and I'm not sure I'm really getting the "choose your own adventure" part just yet. I mean, some missions tell me I can rat out my people to Marchand, but I've never met him yet. I guess I am supposed to just find him on the map and introduce myself, but I can do that with Miss T 1.2.   32. I'm going to cheat just a little bit in doing once-a-day posts, because I had literally two minutes to log on this afternoon. I had bought about 60 converters so I crafted and converted my remaining 20 Quickfoot recipes into Celerities. Five of them were +Stealth so I posted them at prices that would move quickly.   37. With regards to others effecting your game experience, this is 100% a thing in this MMO. We have had several examples in this thread talking about different levels of being "left in the dust" by just general teaming, to the point of many feeling like they're just doorsitting. It should be assumed that the basic gameplay should be using the tools given to us when able. Actively choosing NOT to use said tools is going against the basics of the game and should not be a "viable" solution.

Which just proves my point that Dark Astoria was designed to take Incarnate level shifts into consideration, it was intentionally designed to become easier as you progressed as an Incarnate, and that it was intentionally designed to eventually funnel you to Incarnate trials for increasing challenge.   43. It’s likely a sense of “I earned it so I should always be able to use it”. Honestly, it’s likely easier to make adjustments to future content than it is to anything current, however, I wouldn’t complain if they: 1. Dumped the level shifts beyond the Alpha Slot (I could live with no level shifts, however, this is the compromise). 2. Limit Dark Astoria to 50s. The zone is supposed to be a solo path for Incarnate content, not a sidekick golfcart.

  45. If no one else told you yet, join the Repeat Offenders global channel. We're on Everlasting and we do stuff like this all the time. Look for Retro RO teams, join the appropriate SGs and follow the build specs, or just play with us for the normal insanity. We did some all poison teaming a couple of weeks ago and it was nuts.

Hey so Super late to this thread, but I'm the Lead of the <New Praetorians Initiative> supergroup, where we have regular internal debates about the timeline, and as best as we could reckon, you can separate Praetorian history into four phases: Pre-Cole, President Cole, Chairman Cole, and Emperor Cole. It is worth noting, however, that these periods seem to overlap in ways that frequently are not the best thought out, and indeed I don't think that the original developers ever intended Going Rogue's vision of Praetoria (or for that matter the more truncated, pre-Going-Rogue ve
