  1. Get the local name of the toon. Grab their global as well. Screenshot and grab a chat log. Don't discuss it with the user. Just gather your data and GTFO. Then, on the forums here, find a GM. Submit the info there. Then stand back as the GM drops a "Rod From God" and follows up with some nuclear carpet bombing. And if the person bugs you again, block them. They no longer exist to you. Unfortunately some people believe in "Do as I say, not as I do." and that rules should not be applied evenly because....hey...it's THEM. THEY are the "good ones". But the least political c

  3. Sorry that you had a bad experience in the game. The advice given above is good: putting users on ignore and sending us a petition with screenshot evidence is a good response to these sorts of situations. This goes for everyone, we're happy to help as best as we can. However this thread in itself does amount to political discussion, which we have a rule against in our code of conduct very much for the reason the OP suggests and more. I'll lock this thread for that reason, but this doesn't constitute a warning or penalty - just a deterrent.

  5. My perspective is that rather than nerf powers we have that are honestly fine as is, focus should be on looking at how a player interacts with different factions of enemy groups in the game. RoP isnt 100% mez immunity it is partial coverage and there is no reason that "squishy" archetypes shouldnt be able to dip into options to cover holes if that is something they want to do. Mez powers in enemy groups shouldnt be a tax that only affects certain archetypes while others can ignore those mechanics completely. Imo there should be critters or encounters where you may be faced with strong high mag

  8. First I want to start by saying I agree with the OP. +4x8 with a full team end game is easy - zero effort required. While this is fairly obvious status quo the important question for each person is, "Is it fun?" I agree with many folks throughout this topic. Everyone is just being polite regardless of the actual experience. And some of those folks probably did genuinely enjoy the time. I'm more like you though and there are some TFs that I'm just brain dead following along so that I appear to be participating. There are also times I'm the toddler on a sugar high though de

That being said, I did a rather rudimentary test in the Build 1 travel power thread somewhat based on your parameters (in fact based on your post in that thread): Edit: I'll just post my original results here: "I designed some simple testing to come up with evidence to demonstrate speed similarities and disparities, with a focus on extreme/outlier situations. I used the following methodology: Thr

  11. This is related to my suggestion to have music notes as an aura, but specifically for the sonic blast (and I guess potentially sonic resonance and maybe sonic manipulation sets). That is simply to add an option in power customization that projects a flowy music staff with notes and other music notations, rather than just the (rather bland) ripples that sonic blast currently uses. The assets already exist in game as seen when fighting Talons of Vengeance Sirens. That power animation is essentially what I'm asking for. Thanks!

  13. There are two things to consider here: - First is that comparing the game with mechanical decisions regarding gameplay to the comic book demi god that hears a gunshot from the moon and travels down to earth in time to stop the bullet is always going to end in tears. Compare rather to more normal power levels and it's not unheard of that top speeds can be breached via adrenaline and need but there is a reason why 'top speeds' are called top speeds and not 'unhurriedly moving along'. If a motor only goes up to 100 kph it's not because there is a big need to stop a bullet that it sudd

  14. How is what Matt Miller said over a decade ago relevant in the here and now? Also, how could we square the idea of getting players to focus on one alt with being given 1000 character slots per server in homecoming? If the homecoming dev team wants players to enjoy alts, which 1000 character slots per server seems to suggest, then there's a solid case for supporting build diversity when making power calibration decisions. Ergo, there's a case for making a broad selection of power pools appealing to players, rather than just the 3 or 4 pools that are currently popular. I

  15. I'm often stunned after a TF is over and everyone else says things like "great job" "good run" "great team" and I'm like... it was??? That was boring AF. How do you know the team was good when no one needed each other? Four of you kinda plowed through it by yourselves. We barely said anything to each other the whole time because no one felt the need to communicate. All I did was follow behind the pack as you ran off like toddlers on a sugar high and occasionally dropped a buff to feel like I was doing something. I never hit anything because it was dead before my attack animation was over. But

  18. The highlighted sentence is an obviously correct statement, but only because the reasoning is circular. A simple hypothesis to set forth would be that people respond to nerfed powers by choosing them less in the future, with bigger nerfs generally leading to a bigger drop in usage. A corollary hypothesis could be that when powers are buffed they're likely to be chosen more often, with bigger buffs generally leading to a bigger uptick in usage. Are you suggesting these hypotheses do not accurately predict how people tend to react to buffs and nerfs to powers? If so, do you know of

  20. When I lead TFs, I call them "medium speed." I'm not trying to set a record, but I do expect to use transports and stealth missions where possible. However, I also tell the gang to feel free to follow me or pretend its a steamroll. So long as 3 or more participate in the steamroll it seems to work fine. It still goes very fast but there's a lot more XP gain and everyone feels like they are contributing. I also think that if you like to play a certain way, you should play your way and seek like minded individuals to play with.

  21. Oooops, sorry! I totally misread that so. My apologies! Why run 8? A lot of mine are SG teams so it just happens there are 8 of us. If I'm leading a PuG I use a "soft-cap" of 5. In other words once we hit 5 I'll stop recruiting. But if someone comes along 5 mins later and says "Any room left" I'll add them no bother. Reunion is a low pop server so I know how hard it can be get a team. By the same token often our SG teams are 3/4/5. Hell 4 of us ran TinPlex quite happily last week (in a silly-short time). I even ended up with two Master Of badges from it. W

  22. One of the best things of CoX is you can create your own challenge. If you think it's too easy then do something to increase that. Make your own teams and cap at 5 people or less. You have that choice. Also if you are having trouble finding a challenge then try this post https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/26511-ae-801-incarnate-team-missions/?tab=comments#comment-330791

  23. I've come to the realization that the majority of my deaths resulted from me being MEZ'd but not noticing the small little notification in time. Being able to have it displayed larger and elsewhere on the screen or even better yet, a coloured and/or styled screen/boarder effect as a warning would be awesome. A few people I talked to about this idea also suggested the coloured screen/boarder effects could be used to indicate low health, low end, or even debuffs. (P.S. LOVE all of you who are working on keeping this game running and improving it. You're the best!)

  26. Hey there, thanks for dropping by! The intent in allowing procs to function as usual was mainly to preserve an IO build's endurance gain, similar to if they had just slotted out their Fitness pools normally (i.e. like an SO build). I even highlight Panacea as an example when I expand upon my reasoning about this here - needless to say, this was indeed quite intentional. If that's not to your preference due to the other things that procs can do, I think that's all the more reason to provide some additional Notoriety options to increase its granularity, such as was propos

  27. Sure. Making those squiggly lines for his electric aura only takes 5 minutes or so and since they are on their own layer adding or removing them is like flipping a light switch. Just takes a second. Here are some quick variations for you. The two on the left are light and heavy aura behind the body, the two on the right are the same but have the electric aura in front as well.

  31. I'm also a big kheldian fan, the weird sets are my favorite ones. I just find it odd that things like fold space and are added and are somehow kosher, while the one power in a terrible power pool that isn't terrible has its duration cut by a third. Those arguing that this change is going to stop "squishies" from dominating are coming across as clueless, because this won't change that at all. Fire/fire blasters, kinetic corruptors and cold domination users will still be on top of the food chain, they didn't use it to begin with.

  34. Seems like three different debates playing out here: 1. Should certain AT's (like Blasters) have access to as much mez protection as RoP currently offers? Does offering a 90 second RoP to squishies throw the game out of balance? Is RoP "over-tuned"? My personal opinion (and one others have stated better than me) is that the ship has long sailed on this debate. I have proc'ed out tanks that do insane damage, blasters with capped defense and resistance, controllers capable of clearing maps faster than brutes, and so on. Set bonuses, temp powers, amplifiers, epic pool powers, i

  35. Hopefully rather than sounding like a complaint this post will sound like an observation. City of Heroes was most enjoyable to me around the time the incarnate Alpha slots came out. There was some specific interesting developments after that, and on Homecoming, but that is the version of the game I've always enjoyed most. It was never hard, nor was it heavily based on a Tanker-Healer-DPS triad. But it also didn't play like it currently does. The lower level game can be okay, but a lot of classes do not play well at lower levels. Dominators and Controllers, which I've al

  36. Most blasters that do this would laugh at the notion of taking rune to begin with? Rune isn't popular, I really can't stress this enough. This forum would be a firestorm right now if it was on the same level as say, hasten or CJ. You could remove the power from the game entirely and this would have no impact on the high end meta. But it would lower build diversity, one of the game's strongest selling points.

  40. How many times over the years have you been running to the rescue only to be waylaid by an open door? It makes no sense that an open door should slow us down at all, we should be able to walk right through it. That said doors serve as transitions between maps for the game, and allow you to click on them while in their closed state to get in. Once they open either they can't be clicked on, or the hotbox for clicking on them has shrink or moved to a non logical location. Wouldn't it be grand if we could click anywhere on an open door and begin transitioning to the new map

  42. I still find it wonderful that people have such different types of fun in this game though 🙂 I personally care nothing for builds or what have you, it's all about story story story, and the AEs I look for could be just medium/low level powerwise but if it has a good story then that's a hit for me. Each to their own I suppose.

What I meant was players will quit if things are changed, and other players will quit if they aren't changed. HelBlaiz nailed it (and should probably have his head examined for thinking like me). I get a bit tired of all the threats of people quitting for this reason or that. Ya can't make everyone happy, nor can you make the majority happy. We have to settle for the few. Also, people tend to complain about things they don't like, but ar

  49. What about something along the lines of a player rating system that help folks kind of know at a glance what kind of team they are on? It could be a system that automatically determines a rating value based on IO sets equipped and incarnate powers activated, etc. or it could be more of a player set flag stating what their playstyle or teaming goals are. Just bouncing around some ideas... Semi sidetrack - I agree with the general sentiment in MTeague's post (with the exception that the OMG doesn't wear off for me and I'm having a blast) that there was fun in those challenges but I
