  3. Version 4212 Updating Extensive redesign of how the package install process works. No outwardly visible changes, just even more robust installs and updates. Better handling for version rollbacks in the rare event we would need to do one. Eliminated some unnecessary dependent package version checks, slightly reducing network traffic. Launch profiles are no longer uninstalled if they become inaccessible. They of course cannot be updated but don't disappear unless the user uninstalls them. 5. Red Spectre - Ever After! Rufinus Servius, an honorable and skilled fighter in life, was betrayed by his patron, Mars, when the god tricked him into wearing magical vambraces that would send him into a murderous frenzy in battle. Rufinus, steadfast and resolute, resisted the armor's magics and, to spite Mars, spared his foes from death. In retaliation, Mars smote Rufinus and forbade his entry to the underworld by binding his soul to the vambraces. An angered Pluto, wanting the champion's soul for himself, tried to reverse the curse, but succeeded only in imbuing the cuffs with

  8. As a Blaster it's amusing when most everything could be rent asunder from a distance, before anyone even had the chance to enter melee range. That said, the Archetypes, much like the players that enjoy them, each have something they are good at or are even better at than others. Let's just keep in mind that not everyone is going to like the same thing we do, and that's okay, we just need to stay objective and constructive when it come to discussions.

  11. I'm sorry but no... I wouldn't prefer a defensive speed power like SJ/Hover. I like Burnout, it is a unique utility and it makes things like double Gang War possible and creates interesting build possibilities. For that reason, I must say I just don't care for these ideas and like Speed as is, nor do I feel it needs any buffs, I think Speed is probably the best power pool overall for me and virtually every character I make takes Speed mostly for SS even besides Hasten. I'm sorry, I'm just going to have to say no. 😞

Your options are enjoy the 1-20 praetorian experience OR, delete and reroll OR, go to Imperial City, Studio 55 to Pocket D, then to the AE station there, and level up in AE until 20, then choose hero/villain. If you've barely levelled him yet, I'd do the delete/reroll. (well, actually, no, I'd be stubborn and do Praetoria, slog or no slog. But I reallly enjoy the choice the 1-20 arcs offer there).

Farming can be helpful if you want to gear your alts without having to buy everything. PVP and VR recipes drop reliably well and we can agree that those two rank among the costly stuff you need when you make a build. Most PVP Enhancements will cost what... 8-9 Million? Farming will net you easy PVP recipes. Craft them (cost: 500K, not gonna count the materials because if you farm, you literally swim in

  16. Actually the 33% uptime value is about the same as on live with an SO build and hasten. So unless youre talking about a buff for a character running around nekid, the RoP change is only a nerf/rebalancing around a character using IOs or characters that have internal recharge buffs like chrono shift, accelerate metabolism, quickness, etc. Even just 20% additional global recharge beyond hasten and SOs has better than 33% uptime on RoP currently pre patch.

  17. There are auto-hit debuffs, unresisted debuffs, toggle debuffs, vanilla debuffs with hit checks, all with massive values which stomp the ever-loving shit out of the limited values the support characters could gain from changing their ally-only buffs to PBAoE/self-allowed buffs. Most of them have been there since release day. The game hasn't imploded. There are sufficient IO set bonus options for any archetype to self-buff every notable attribute, often multiple notable attributes simultaneously (Accuracy, Recharge and Defense, for example). All of this has been possible since the da

  18. One trick I find that makes locating Sally easier is to set the reticle option for 'Show Villain Name' to 'Show Always'. Reticle options are typically set in Options > Window > Reticle section, but setting 'Show Villain Name' to 'Show Always' can't be done via the menu. It has to be done using the following chat command (see Shenanigunner's excellent CoX Tech Guide, starting at p31, for more details) : /option_set ShowVillainName 1 This will let you spot Sally from about 625 yards away. It's not uncommon for me to pop out of the train station or base portal and see h

  22. Following on from this thread; What do people think of the idea of a dedicated 'Heavy Weapons' powerset? Obviously it's going to share some overlap with Assault Rifle, but hopefully I can give it more of a distinct heavy weapons feel that distinguishes it from other weapon powersets. In order to do that, I want to introduce a new mechanic for this powerset; Heat Stacks of Heat build up as you use certain powers, giving them increasing fire damage the more stacks you have, but at the cost of costing more endurance. Heat can be lost over time by allowi

  23. It is insufficient to look at that through a closed lens. A time Manip character gets 12.5% base def from farsight, pbaoe. Fortitude is base 15% def. If you cast Fort on yourself you are delaying casting it on the next ally. Time Manip also has a tohit debuff aura to pad its defense, Fort is the only +def available to empathy. Time manip also has relevant debuffs, force multipliers, and control options. Empathy (and FF) do not. Should Farsight be changed to only affect allies and not self when clicked? I can already hear the outrage. Compared to a brute or tanker, that will also hit res

  24. I have seen a team where a member left after the lead did not give up the star when asked. I've also seen teams, where the lead recruited the team to do certain kinds of missions, say peregrine radios, and a player has asked for the star to run the radios at a higher level, the lead consented, and then the new leader picked different missions, such as their story arc missions. Neither is common, but both do happen. In the first case, good riddance. That's a rule I try to follow -- Don't join a team if you don't actually want to do what the team

  25. Oh, it's not the rules of 5th ed, it's the rest of the malarkey that happens when a bunch of Edgelords get control of a game they loved playing a certain way, and then made that way the official stance. Rant over.

  26. You haven't provided any support for this statement, and others who have done so have more or less not made a very strong argument. A defender being able to cast Fortitude on herself because she's playing alone to still be worse at everything than a damage dealer does not a broken game make. A lot of this just feels like the "it's not how the game is supposed to because it's different from [time when I thought the game was the best]," which is a weak argument. Regardless, I still disagree with ROP change, and with the implication in the rework that damage-dealing pool powers necess

  27. I came to post exactly that. ^^^ Seriously, CoH broke the mold for MMOs. The forced teaming and cookiecutter team of the idiotic trinity doesn't exist in CoH. Sure, you still have your DPS, and Control classes, but de/buff is now meaningful, and healing far less relevant. So pick which role looks interesting to you and play it. Edit: So since everyone else was making lists, I thought I'd post mine. I put roles into 4 classifications, as listed above; DPS Control De/Buff (buffing and debuffing Healing /Edit As

  28. Okay, so maybe I'm slightly sadistic, but Scirocco just cracks me up. You beat him and he's just... so hopelessly, utterly defeated in all of his dialogue from then on. It's honestly some of the funniest stuff. "You do your work well, as always. I am certain that Vortigur will surrender his secrets in time. No one can resist. Why bother? All is meaningless, in the end." Like, man. You just broke him. It's that kind of writing that makes me love redside over blueside. Blueside writing is just... "yay! You saved the day again! You're the bestest hero ever!"

  29. As someone who ran every red side arc not long ago, then went through with a toon who did most of the hero and villain missions by switching alignments a lot (that got narratively weird), I'll offer a different take: while there are some problematic red side story arcs, most of them tend more toward cartoon villainy. Some of the most fun arcs in the game are in the Rogue Isles—the problem is that most of those arcs are in the mid to high levels. The low-level missions don't do a good job of showcasing how fun being a bad guy can (eventually) be. The truly dark red side arcs are r

Extremely uncommon to face them, but Family at 40+ use Beam Rifles and Resistance equipment, Capos often armed with the Heavy Barrel rifles and targeting drones while a lot of the Button Men use the old rifles (or lasers). Also the UPA, the leftovers of the Resistance and IDF defectors, pose a threat, but they have no presence beyond Provost Marchand and The Major's missions. While never expanded on due to the shutdown, Malta also made a deal with Battle Maiden for her nanotech. We likely would've seen an incarnate ove

  34. There was a level 40-50 gold side zone planned called Neo Tokyo. It would have been the last pocket of civilized humanity in Asia and shown how things were going against the Praetorian Hamidon there. Hint: not good. Then, as I said before, there was an Incarnate gold side zone planned where you finally took the fight to Praetorian Hamidon himself and dealt with him. However, both the developers and players at the time were hit by Praetoria fatigue, so they decided to take a break from Praetoria after the Magisterium Trial, deal with the Battalion for four or five issues, and then come back

  35. Looking at the new mechanic being introduced to Singularity (being able to draw in enemies), I wanna play with this a little and see what we can do with it. And on that note, I've been toying with some old ideas! Here's another armor set; Gravity Aura Gravity Aura - Gravity Shield: A Defense toggle that grants Smashing/Lethal/Negative Defense. Also provides minimal Resistance to Smashing/Lethal and Immobilize, Knockback, Knockdown and Knockup. 41. Done the praetorean arcs only once on a Fire/Ice. It was an incredible slog since we are stuck at level 10 for so incredibly long and I only had Frost for AoE. It was nice to get it done just to get an idea of what it was all about (though I only did flashbacks which I assume are not the full Praet experience) but I would not do it a second time. So based on that I might say yes, ditch the character and start over. Stalker isn't bad. Perhaps Savage so that you get an early cone you can use, or Claws Scrapper so you get Follow-up and Spin. Remember to turn it -1x1 if you want it don

  44. QOL and/or changing values in a power is different from completely removing and replacing. Afterburner has use cases that will be completely removed. The mini PFF to get into and out of combat/buffing/etc will be gone. A niche use, but some were able to utilize the only affecting self in a way. I don't begrudge anyone for speaking up for how experience is impacted. Belittling or poking fun at them will elicit a different response. T9 changes will impact high end builds that have figured out ways to take advantage of them. It is a similar situation were use cases will be

Using your numbers and my times that's 850k inf/min before drops. Note this would have been doubled before the level 49 farming nerf. I've disabled resurrect and protection insps and use combine to red insps macros. The best time i've done the 125 arc is on an ice/fire blaster and that was around the 2:30 mark but is inconsistent and requires concentration. 49. Ooh, interesting thread! There's a very tiny factor of 'competition' to consider, which is that a character that can single-handedly tear down 4x8 groups in a very short amount of time might be removing the chance for their teammates to play the game. Using the word competition very loosely there, as a sort of passive, natural state rather than players actively trying to outdo each other. A hypothetical OP set that could obliterate enemies faster than the other 7 members of the team combined would need to be nerfed against that factor. But I don't think we're in that si
