  1. I haven't posted any of my designs before. This one belongs to my namesake and first fifty on Homecoming, Driven Snow. She's got depressingly mild ice powers bolstered by a technological suit to bring them up to par. Spent a long while shelved, but I felt like revamping her look. The bubble is intended to bring to mind that kind of "snow globe" aesthetic, but unfortunately I can't keep any appropriately icey auras from spilling out of it, so bare glass will have to do.

  2. I grew up watching Adam West's "Bright Knight" campy version of Batman, and among my favorite goofball characters was Vincent Price's Egghead. If you've never seen him, he's obsessive compulsive about eggs: costume, gems and plunder, even speech. Everything had to be about eggs. Price chewed the scenery with him, a real ham with the eggs, and he loved every minute of it, apparently. I wanted to make a homage to him, and I began thinking: what would drive a criminal to obsess about eggs of all things? A suffered trauma, just like so many others of Batman's rogues gallery.

  3. To clarify on my statement, as it's being quoted to the wrong effect here. New methodology of increasing the difficulty are already built and in testing now, and in more engaging ways than just making numbers bigger. As always, we're watching the feedback and are always looking for opportunities to improve existing content. When we approach adjustments, it will be with intent and in ways beyond purely stats. Various elements have already proven that simply having bigger numbers alone does not engaging challenges make. (Keep in mind challenge is not strictly

  5. No one's saying you can't. What I am saying is that, we've been repeatedly over this topic for the past two years. The battle lines are drawn, the trenches are dug, and the barbed wire is set up. Y'all can lob artillery shells over No Man's Land at each other all you want. And, I mean, we even had a dev come in earlier today and say "Yeah, we're got things in the works that should help appease a lot of people" and nobody picked it up for discussion. Everyone went back to their trenches.

  6. I don't usually agree with Snarky, but when I do it's because he's right. If you all want to play HARD MODE then ask the devs to do something to give you all a HARD MODE. Me, and a lot of other folks, just want to have a beer and sail through some easy content while chatting with our friends on Discord. Enjoy your HARD MODE. But please, stop trying to convince the devs to FORCE the rest of us to also play on HARD MODE. Us scrubs playing the game on super-easy baby wipe mode DOES NOT ruin the game for you. It literally does not affect you at all. Please stop trying to fo

  7. Two points on that synopsis: 1. We have a much smaller player base than live, hence IOs and incarnates were goosed so you're not waiting months for a Luck Charm. 2. We have a lot of vets from live, like myself, who spent a lot of time leveling up our characters and tricking them out. We really didn't want to spend all that time we did in live doing it all over again. Tedium isn't difficulty. Other games figured out over the years that you need to throw mechanics and expanded content at the player to keep their mind engaged. Real challenge would require more than

Something styled from the Arabian Nights maybe? A punk-rock Fairy Godmother? A cybertech Robin Hood? We can't wait to see what you come up with! A small note to keep in mind: Please note the Code of Conduct still applies to this contest, and entries must not copy or otherwise directly emulate Disney or other IP versions of traditional characters. 9. I don't have any comment on the topic at hand, but great job keeping up with the thread @Monos King. Discussions like these tend to devolve in to two camps pointing fingers, so I am glad that at six pages in there hasn't been a thread lock!

  10. Yes, and I wish the people who keep starting these "The Game is too Easy" threads would actually use those difficulty settings. However, they refuse to use those settings. Instead they want the devs to fiddle with the difficulty settings for them, which has the effect of raising the difficulty for the rest of us. Now if I read Monos King right he seems to think that getting to 50 is too fast and easy. I'd definitely recommend that the devs add a "1/2 XP, 1/2 Inf, 1/2 drops & 1/2 Enhancement Effectiveness" setting, with an optional no-deaths/Ironman mode, just for him and his fe

  11. So, I was playing my level 40 SR/MA tanker earlier this evening, running through a seemingly endless story arc centered around Lord Nemesis and those goofy bazooka-sniper guys. She's got a mix of mostly IOs, with a scattering of SOs and a couple of incomplete IO sets. A work in progress, like most of my guys. I was having a pretty good time, slowly but surely closing in on level 41, but some of the missions were getting a little too rinse and repeat-y so I started just running past the bazooka guys (some Council guys, too) whenever convenient to get to the objectives. Pretty easy to do that wi

  13. I downloaded a program on my Windows computer called ScreenToGif which is a very user friendly way to capture on screen content and turn it in to a .gif It even lets users delete extra frames of short clips, so that files can be compressed down to smaller sizes. So a 5 second clip might hit somewhere between 2MBs and 4MBs.

  15. Five pages into this discussion and nobody has brought up the real reason why the content in this game is so easy for some of us, maybe most of us: We've been playing this game for over 10 years, elapsed time. We're that good at it. I've had noobs in text (and on rare occasion, voice) chat and let me tell you that they were struggling to finish Atlas Park. The fact that we all have in muscle memory how close we can get to a mob without aggroing it, the fact that we all have the combat formulas memorized, the fact that we all know this combat system so thoroughly that we

  16. You know, I have been playing Minecraft lately with the 1.17 update and started from scratch on a new server. I was actually surprised how difficult the game is when you're starting out with unenchanted iron armor. I died 5 times to creepers falling on my head, something I had grown used to ignoring as barely a nuisance. Exploring a big ravine was actually stressful and difficult. I started to wonder if the new terrain generation that creates much larger caves had caused a difficulty spike. Then I got a full set of Diamond (not even Netherite) armor with Protection IV, and went bac

  17. 1. The game must be balanced around SO only, normal XP rate (no p2w boost) gameplay. Must. Load up a toon in this way and it is quite clear the game is paced well and not a zergfest. 2. The game has AE. It's not leaving, but it should NOT offer higher XP per hour than normal missions. 3. IOs should stay as accessible as they are. They should not be more accessible, the balance is fine. The IO tutorial, however, needs to be better. 4. There absolutely should be more incarnate content and perhaps even a +5 setting for all missions. 5. Insta-travel

  18. The difficulty of acquiring IOs was entirely due to the abhorrent state of the economy, not a deliberately set balance point. By the time the Invention system was released, players had been stockpiling inf* for years, across multiple characters, simply because they had nothing to do with their wealth. This was what drove IO prices to nigh unreachable levels, creating the perceived progression limitation. The economy was broken, and something being broken is never a balancing factor. Yes, the HC team has made some IO sets more readily available than they would otherwise be, but p

  19. It took a lot of reading to boil down your goal. You want to remove the option to play the way i play okay. Set up your own server and recruit people who play that 801 or 805 AE arc and peeps that run Reichsman fights at +4 stop trying to change the game i have played since CoV came out into something you want. At least on the servers i play on. I enjoy Rechsman TFs at +0. With fully i/o characters. Does this make me a crappy player who wants easy mode? Oh wait i dont give a crap what anyone thinks about how i play

  21. THIS POST HAS BEEN MASSIVELY RE-EDITED. SOME RESPONSES MAY BE NONSENSIFIED AS A RESULT. Gunner's BadgeDRADIS is now available for download. BadgeDRADIS is a new popmenu-based badge-hunting tool. Installation is simple (and complete info is included, even for non-geeks) and it allows you to pop up a menu, click a badge name, and have a thumbtack appear on the map for that badge. Run to the thumbtack and collect the badge... it's that easy. Yes, there's a very, very good badge-hunter's tool already, @AboveTheChemist's BadgeSetList, which you can get ove

  22. Thanks for this post, especially the above sentence. Some buffs only affect individuals (playing at -1 or +4, on their settings) and their teams. I beg you to carefully consider system-wide changes that make play easier -- some people would love it and some would hate it, but there would be no way to opt out so it would be simplified for everyone. I'd much rather have those who wish for it to be able to play at -2 than for me to have to play at +4, enemies buffed, no inspirations, blindfolded, and left pawed in order to enjoy it. That last part is, of course, an exaggeration. Thanks!

  24. You might want to look at the Tech Guide (see sig); it's all about this stuff. Good post by Blackbird71, though. A fundamental way to make binds much easier to use, especially if you use 'rolling binds' like these, is to put all bindfiles in the default location, so no paths are needed. You can use just the file names. MUCH shorter commands, MUCH easier to use, FAR FEWER points to glitch: If you use the Tequila launcher, put all your keybind files in [GAME ROOT]\data. If you use the Homecoming launcher, put all your keybind files in [GAME ROOT]\settings\live.

  25. To be fair to those folks, choosing added difficulty for no added reward doesn't make much sense either. I would certainly be more inclined to disable insps and temps if, say, drop rates were slightly increased for doing so.

  26. Seeds and Mass Confusion both have a 16 target cap. Seeds range limitations can be overcome with +range (enhanced, IO, and alpha), stealth, and the contagious confusion proc. Played well, it is very easy to hit an entire spawn with Seeds. Seeds is available at level 8. Personally, as someone with not enough playtime but who feels most at home on a dominator, I'd nerf Seeds a bit (90 sec cooldown, duration to match hold effects) and buff/nerf Mass Confusion (120-145 second cooldown, duration to match hold effects). That said, this discussion n

  27. Using only the in-game available commands and a standard keyboard, you can't. You can bind keys to turn more than one power off, but can only turn one on with a single command. As the others mentioned, you can make rotating bind files so that you can use the same key to trigger two powers by pressing it twice. You could even set it up so that pressing it twice turns on each power in sequence, then pressing it a third time turns them both off with a single use. To do this, make a folder somewhere on your computer named "binds"; and remember the path. For this example, we'll as

  28. Just glanced though the War Walker files. They appear to have Mag 50 protection to knock up, knockback and Repel, but no resistance I can spot right away. To overcome that you'd need to also deal with the Purple Patch. So if they're +3 to you at the end game, you'd need 50 = Val x 0.65, or Mag a little over 76 knockback to overcome them. Should be a lot more doable versus a low level War Walker. I didn't check to see if they have additional sources of knock resistance, which could render this moot. FWIW it's only just now because I'm looking at these files

  29. We'd pretty much definitely need to already have plans for like next level incarnate content if we did actually end up opening up the later slots though. Did you see some of the drafted ideas for them in the AMAs? They were like hilariously insane: nuke level AoE debuffs and chance for one shots. I'd love to see how crazy it would get but first I'd need some toys to test them on. This one would be unpopular, but they'd probably have to be limited to said new content or have exceptionally long cooldowns outside of it in exchange for them being as awesome as I'd hope. I just can't se

  30. Really, though? If the "Reward Chasers" won't avail themselves to the already in-game ways to make content more difficult (by perhaps NOT using the PTW vendor, NOT power-leveling, etc), then how can you really say these folks want things to "feel earned" AND "they are ease haters"? Anyone using Amplifiers and Double XP cannot honestly call themselves "ease haters." I also don't agree with the dichotomy you've set up between your so-called "Reward Chasers" and "Role-Players," as if those are the only two categories of players. I'm an alt-a-holic, and for me the challenge is in p

  35. I'm happy to say that with the next batch of new content, we're aiming to do just this using some new methods of dynamic enemy definitions and power assignment. The new content should be able to be played sub-50 (under enhanced), 50+0 (SOs), or 50+ (IO incarnates) and will change to accommodate and challenge the players depending on their preference for the game. This should enable all player types to enjoy it how they prefer, be it leveling an alt, feeling powerful on their built character, or facing an intense challenge. Reading a lot of what's being said I think people will be ha

Take all the P2W attacks and enhancements, along with the Inner Inspiration thing (you can swap it for something else later) and a booster pet. Take out a few extra Contaminated along the way. Save the big damage and heal inspirations you get from the defeat 4 Contaminated mission for the Flower Knight mission. It doesn't matter what AT you're playing. At that level, the squishy types do just as well (if not better) than the non-squishies. Depending on which map you get, you can come out with

  40. There are some good thoughts in this thread. Thanks to all for keeping the discussion civil. My personal take on "more difficult" would have a starter template like this: The Level Shift that is provided at the Alpha Slot would be re-flagged so that it only applies in incarnate content, like Destiny and Lore currently do Reward tables would be shifted: Fighting Level 53 enemies provided rewards previously provided for fighting Level 54 enemies Fighting Level 54 enemies would provide somewhat more rewards than before This accompl

  42. I'm not sure I do. It looked to me like @Luminara's point was that the more complex, more involved, and more challenging content and enemies of Goldside simply aren't a draw for most players. You then appear, to me at least, to be providing a second example of that same point. Redside is newer and generally better content than original blueside, with a few more challenging enemies. It's again less played. It's not that there aren't people who value that kind of content. I'm certainly one. It's that there are few of us compared to the whole population. What you see in global
