  2. Been a while since I posted anything here but I figured out a fairly easy one to work with. Nothing special this time, just wanted to try my hand at doing another weapon based Assault powerset, so I took Archery and attempted to rework it with a few custom melee attacks. Archery Assault - Snap Shot: Same power from Archery, providing a low lethal damage ranged attack - Boot: A new power that works as a more powerful version of the Fighting pool's 'Kick' power - Aimed Shot: Same power from Archery, dealing moderate lethal damage at range

Ah, I can make a full attack chain out of these three attacks! *respec* *pew pew pew pause* What? *pew pew pew pause* Is that... a gap, in which nothing is recharged, in my attack chain? *pew pew pew pause* WHAT IN THE FUDGE POP FACTORY IS GOI-... oh. I factored for total cycle time of each power, rather than looking at the animation times in comparison to the recharge times. *sad-f

  4. Oh hey, I found this thread right as I was working on something in between moving. (On mobile so bear with me) Staff Manipulation 🤭 Crippling Strikes (Minor Smashing Dmg, Immob, Very narrow cone) Range: Melee. Mini version of Innocuous Strikes. Would have a mini cone like Headsplitter, Cleave, etc. Very fast recharge Precise Strike (Minor Smashing Dmg, Stun, Single Target) Range: Melee. Strike 1 enemy with your staff. Has a small chance to stun. Fast recharge Master's Domain (Toggle, PBAoE slow, -tohit) PBAoE minor slow

  6. Protip for people who take it: the Panacea proc works in it, as in it can potentially heal/restore endurance to anyone within the aura. Sure, everyone just drops Panacea into Health, but in Triage Beacon it can help make the power a little more effective. Also works in Spirit Tree, Soothing Aura, and Lifegiving Spores.

  7. This power needs some love. Currently gives it puts down a stationary pet that gives +150% regen in a 40 ft radius. Base recharge is 200s. There's just not really much use for this power. It's cheap, and it lasts a long time, but if it's not useful, who cares? I'm thinking if they added some status protections or even DDR to it would make this an useful power to the ATs that get it. Maybe if you turn the +regen into a pulsing heal-over-time so the melee teammates come back to it for a quick heal up if in trouble while the squishies can hang out near it for the status protecti

I made myself a big brass robot the other day and Big Betty and Boilerplate (and Boiler Plate) were taken and I sighed, called her Big Bessie for a day and then as I realized what I was doing with my giant bronze woman namewise, I went 'no! Her name is BRONZE BEAUTY!' as if struck by lightning. Anyway, I didn't get my first choices, but I'm happy with my fourth.

  10. I love the Infiltration power. I love it, love it, love it. Before it, my MA/SR Scrapper used Ninja Run + Sprint with a Stealth IO as my travel power, and it would eat my endurance quickly. With the advent of Infiltration I got comparable speed, jumping, and stealth using one power instead of two. And after two slotting it with Winter's Gift, If i activate Infiltration, I move at roughly 78 mph for both running and jumping, and if I activate Sprint it pushes me to 92 mph running. So essentially, i get the old speed cap, the old jump speed cap, and invisibility level stealth with Infiltrat

  13. My namesakes, Ill/Rad and Ill/Time controllers, have used Arcane Bolt in attack rotation since it became available. Because controllers need direct attacks and it's very thematic. Now it is even gooderer with reasonable animation times and the Arcane Boost. If you are a controller, getting the bonus damage from mezzing a foe plus the Arcane Boost yields almost triple damage: triple controller damage, granted, but still, it makes me feel like a damage dealer for a few seconds. More that you did me a huge favor, since Lady Vamp is not a real damage-dealer, and Mercyground made everything better. 🙂 (I sent out a request for help because I was facing a mission with 2 Elite Bosses, and immediately 7 people responded with offers to help, including Singularis, who then teamed up with me after, which made it awesome. This game and the community is so great.)

  18. Neither of my two trappers skipped it either. It would be cool, though, if it followed you around like the Force Field Generator. That in itself would be plenty of benefit. Take away the recharge and just have it as a floating "generator" that follows you around.

  20. I'm in the process of re-create all the classic CoH builds, and suddenly went for a super classic D3 def. Oh boy. If only all the oldest sets were so magistrally made like Dark Miasma and with so many sinergies with Dark Blast and the epic pool. This is like a mini controller-defender-blaster all-in-one jack of all trades. Great for soloing, much greater for teaming, close to unkillable in almost every situation. A glorious -to hit debuff feast, which I exasperated with diamagnetic and void incarnates and some proc here and there. It aged so well it looks like it was made yesterday

I'm working on a "little" project and wanted to do some calculations on the average number of enemies needed to be defeated to progress through City of Heroes, giving a calculation of roughly where the halfway points would be in terms of work (rather than just halfway point of total experience). So, I got the numbers for Experience per Class of enemies (Minion, Lieutenant, Boss) at each level and divided those in to the number of experience points to get to the next level. I then also tallied up the total experience at each level (verified against the chart on the Wiki), and applied the same

I find Help useful, keep General up just for amusement and nerf all the others, so the "fifty players whining for a farm mission" bit doesn't bother me. It's more the overall community, in that the power players have a tendency to make their opinions rather loudly known when, say, someone asks about slotting a "gimp build." I don't see many casual/fun/flexible players loudly arguing about the exact IO sets you must have to be one of the anointed... but Statesman help the guy with a w

  25. First a simple request: Tyrant's Star as a chest detail option. More far out there requests are more non-humanoid headshapes like the devouring earth: And the 'wood' parts to the devouring earth avatar? The light blue 'pustules' from the underground trial as some options would be great too Stone armor's Granite customization to include the Igneous's Magmite Lord and Slag Golem Non in game stuff that I would love to see included but don't expect it are more robes type clothes, but I understand the clipping issues involved.

  26. I use smoke flash. It's not just one crit like I thought it was, it's all crits for the duration. So it's a great up-time buff for one or two of your pets.

  27. Brawl has some wonderful animations, including many while holding a weapon or shield. Even Rifles. Brawl will shield slam, left hand punch, hit with the hilt of a weapon, and use a short kick. All randomly for variety. Great and varied stuff! And without putting a weapon away. But.... it's Brawl. Terrible DPA. Would it be possible to have an alternate animation setting for Boxing? Boxing does get decent use out in many attack chains. If there was an option for Boxing to animate as Brawl does, and replace the animation: It would look great, avoiding redraw and weapon sudd

  30. I put IM's attacks into Obitus' old dps calculator from live. Around +200% recharge, GIS-FT-IS-FF-repeat is the best chain. +300% recharge, GIS-FT-IS-repeat is the best. Only used the attack's base damage (According to Mids') in the data. No procs, damage buffs, IO damage bonuses, incarnates, snipes etc were included. GIS-FT-IS-FF-repeat could probably pull ahead since FT can be proc'd out and still recharge fast enough for that chain. Also the chain length is 6.864s, a snipe could be integrated seamlessly.

  32. Nice! Well done! I had a much smaller footprint this year than last, but probably made a much bigger profit. I ended up buying 1,000 packs, and 2-3 thousand assorted WOs somewhere in the 4-9mm range. Once WOs started moving to 20mm+, I started to liquidate. Sometimes I sold them as is; most of the time I would convert from a bad set (Entomb) to a better set (Avalanche) based on how I saw demand and flow. I would check in on my WO alt once or twice a week and sell off 50-100 at a time. Sometimes there were odd price spikes, so I would front load WOs while it lasted.

Next class semester will be held at 5pm Sept. 10th, 11th, 12th, and workshop on the 13th for new and old players interested in learning more about roleplaying, or refreshing their personal knowledge base. We moved up the time schedule to allow for a little more wiggle room between raids being held on Everlasting. All classes at this time, are being held on Everlasting as it is the unofficial roleplaying shard of the server.

  37. There is obviously a flag on a character that states whether the WST has been completed for the week. At a minimum, can we get a slash command to retrieve that value? It would be nice to check to see if one of my characters has completed the WST. I play with many different people and I DON'T HAVE AN ALT PROBLEM, so it would be nice to be able to just check in game. Thanks for the consideration.

  41. Controllers have become my go-to in Homecoming, Illusion and Dark controllers in particular. I had avoided the "confuse" powers on live because 1) the pundits claimed that such powers reduced XP, and 2) I didn't want to be "that guy" who "ruined" everyone's "fun" by "stealing" XP from them. Now I'm old enough to not give a carp, and now I loves me some confusion. Nothing better than getting a Lieutenant or even a Boss to punch a destructible item until it blows up and knocks them back 20 feet. That said, I also love my Archery/Martial Combat blaster and my Martial Arts/Ninjutsu

  45. Bit of a false equivalence. One person being asked to "think up a new name" is an active player. The other is someone who returned to the game after two years of not logging in even once. And it's probably a rare case on top of that. Of all the people who haven't logged in in two years... how many do you actually think are EVER coming back? How many people came over to the game in 2019 because a friend told them about it.. and then they left after a day because everybody kept laughing at them when they asked how to calculate their gear score?

  46. I don't often agree with Snarky, but when I do it's because he's right. If someone hasn't logged in for 2 years then their names, regardless of character level, should be freed up. Actually the best solution would be for names to no longer be exclusive, but that would probably require more work on the part of the devs. And again I'd like to ask people to stop using our servicemen to justify their desire to name camp. When I was deployed the last thing that I was concerned about was the name of a character in a video game, and I can guarantee you that that's the least of

  47. I tried WoW and hated it with a passion. And I know dedicated WoW players who hated CoX with a passion. The two demographics don't necessarily have that much of an overlap. The only overlap is DCU and CO players tend to migrate to CoX and find it a more satisfying experience. They look pretty, have differing power sets and storylines, but there is something missing that is hard to quantify.
