  1. Or just kill/arrest them befoe they run.... The one great thing about Fiery Aura for scrappers is slotting your Critical Stirkes Proce in Burn, pretty much a guarenteed proc, then try to find space for Fireball and use your best AOE/ST dpa attacks from your primary to fit as many as you can in the crit proc window. If you are teaming, it won't matter anyway, a tanker/brute/controller will likely be locking them down. Better yet take Ice Melee for the best of all worlds. (Fiery Embrace, Build Up, Burn, Fireball, Freezing Touch, Frozen Aura). If any boss/lt survives that, drop Ice patch to get them flopping. My Ice/Fire/Fire scrapper is my first HC character and still my favorite.
  2. Ice/Fire scrapper is my main and is awesome. Be different, give it a try.
  3. The one cool thing about Scrapper FA is putting the critical strikes proc in Burn it pretty much always goes off the way the burn patches work. So you always start a fight with it going off, then finish them before they have a chance to run.
  4. I would vote Fire or Rad if you want any type of descent AOE. Tremor has to be the worst PBAOE (3.3 seconds of animation time????) and you don't get it until 32.
  5. Minority opinion likely here but I do play a lot of fiery aura scrappers and I do like the benefits of not having a Taunt aura. Fire is really squishy for a scrapper and it does give a break sometimes when I bite off more then I can chew, and need to hit healing flames. Also they don't run right away, so find a way drop them before they do or hold them some way. Not everyone wants to just sit there have everything run to them to mash there 3 or 4 buttons, using macros to combine inspirations, and post there their clear times etc.. If I do want to do that, I just roll a brute. Chasing after runners is a very comic book thing to me anyway and we have all these cool travel powers to use. Besides they all do come back eventually. Of course I like melee cones too so I should really be ignored :)
  6. Please note the OP said Epic Pools, no Scrapper Secondary's have damage powers that can crit to knowledge. That includes damage aura's like Blazing Aura or other damage powers like Burn, none of them can crit so I don't think adding a bonus chance would suddenly make it crit (The scrapper ATO +crit chance doesn't). Interesting that the Stalker version of Burn can crit though.
  7. When I first saw that title, with "/Blaze", I wondered how will they slot fire ball... Seriously you should consider adding, if you are going to go Blaze, IMHO, it one of the best AOE's period of any AT. One second caste time, great DPA, 16 targets, big area (15). And it does fit with your theme of -res in a way since Fire is still the least resisted damage type in the game. As far as what to drop, I would look at how many times do you really need Parasitic Aura, I dropped it from my ice/bio, didn't really make a difference and I often found it unused.
  8. I am working on a Battle Axe/Fire brute myself for general content and set these priorities that you could apply to Rad/Fire: -Recharge Debuff Resistance as close to 100% as possible (currently at 95%), if you are slowed, can't attack, can't heal. -12 pts of Knockback protection -Soft Cap S/L and Melee -Take and love Rune of Protection to boost your resistance -Load up on Damage, kill it before it kills you -Take Rise of the Phoenix or Darkest Night for when Rune is on cool down. You need other tools to mitigate damage since Fire is very limited. Axe is actually giving me somewhat reliable knock down. Not sure what Rad gives you to help, with its last 3 attacks being so slow, maybe a KD proc in IG for starters? 9. Here is my current build for Polar Melt, my very first character when I started on Homecoming, just picked the power sets since I never tried them back in the day. With 44+% to S/L and Melee he is sturdy enough usually until everything melts or ice patch kicks in. I run the S/L moon map on +4/8 with little issue, you need to pop a green or an orange on occasion. I just love seeing the Critical Strikes pop up every time I hit burn followed by the Fireball and Frozen Aura crits that follow. Not a build that focuses on procs outside the ATO ones. 10. For running with large teams, at level 30+, I don't think a Taunt Aura adds that much since nothing lives long enough to gather around you or someone has them locked in place with a aoe hold/immob. That is my experience running mostly PUG's. I would look at using a fast travel power like SS to close in quick, using fast animating, big aoe's. Definitely look at getting Fireball, it is just so good, give those blasters a taste of their own medicine. I run a Ice/Fire/Fire scrapper that has best aoe attack chain I have seen, with Build Up/Fiery Embrace, Burn (with crit proc going off almost all the time), Fireball, Freezing Touch (optional, on a boss), Frozen Aura, Frost/Crosspunch and repeat, Burn-FB-FT-FA again. With FB, FT, FA all going off in the Crit Bonus Window. It is continuous aoe attack chain that is tough to beat, no waiting for Shield Charge or Lightning rod, just pure un-interrupted damage output with Blazing Aura on top. When I do solo or farm, I have the new and improved ice patch to keep a boss or LT around that manages survive. Probably not everyone's cup of tea, but if you want to try something different.
  11. I highly recommend moving your Critical Strikes ATO's to Burn, the Unique pretty much always goes off (it can go off with no one around, since one of Burn's targets is you). Also since Burn doesn't crit for Scrappers, it is a great place to have the unique and lead off your attack chain. You could also move your Winter set (consider dropping the sixth since you don't need anymore fire/cold defense) from Consume to Whirling Sword, get that knock down proc more often to keep mobs in your patch. Forgot you have Parry so you have more then enough Melee defense, but I would consider dropping the Winter Set in Ball of Lightning, not sure what having all six is really giving you, maybe keep two for recharge resistance and put procs or other fun things in it. Take slot out of tough and move to head splitter to get the sixth Oblit. You should have a enough defense to drop Agility and take Musculature then so more damage, your a scrapper dammit!
  12. Don't forget Frost, it is tough not to hit at least two, throw a range enhancement of some kind in there if you can to help it out even more. Practice jumping up and turning it into a pbaoe. You should have a good attack chain there with Cross Punch (get a +recharge in there as soon as you can), plus I enjoy lining up melee cones as a mini-game but I know some people don't care for it.
  13. I would seriously consider Ice Melee, with Frost and Frozen Aura you have the makings of a good aoe attack chain. The tele nukes are great but I don't know if you can get their recharge down to be in a consistent attack chain which is what you want if you are clearing a +4/8 moon map. Ice Patch is great mitigation since you are capped 75% resist, the hits will add up even if def capped, also will prevent runners. I would find a way to take Blaze Mastery for Fireball, it is just so good. For a secondary, Fiery Aura looks good with Burn but you are missing two great fire armor farming powers in the damage aura and fiery embrace. Having both a Ice/Fire stalker and scrapper, the scrapper is far superior for farming. It still might be your best bet but you would definitely want Ice Patch because Burn will make them run. You could look at Rad, two aoe damage powers or Bio which is just good at everything.
  14. If you are talking about teaming/incarnate/TF, then to quote Mickey, "Speed's what we need, Greasy, fast speed!" You need to be able to move fast and more importantly have good fast animating attacks. The team will be giving you damage, end, health, defense etc buffs. The one thing your team can't help with is the animation time of your powers. This is based on my experience of doing any teaming and wanting to feel like I am contributing something. This is where Rad Melee and Spines while great for farming, fall behind literally. I have gone back to my old main, SS/Elec ( Footstomp, +recharge +run Speed, damage aura). Katana, Energy Melee, Savage feel great in teams to. As mentioned Bio and Rad are also great secondaries. Look up animation times in Mids or in game to see what looks good to you. For epic pools I recommend Mu and Blaze with great fast animating attacks, especially Fire Ball and Ball of Lightning. Brutes are great in teams since that is where we can hit our damage cap and really cause some havoc. Just some ideas, try some out and play what you think is fun.
  15. Ice Manipulation | Ice Melee > Ice Patch (All Versions) Cast Time reduced from 3.47s to 1.57s Awesome buff, takes a sneaky good power and makes it even better with out stepping on the toes of other AT's ice slick powers by keeping its small size. Testing it out creating Ice Patches every where, working great. Now I need to create even more ice melee characters.
  16. Would be a great day for Ice Melee if this was fixed in the next patch along with the reduction in Ice Patch's animation time.
  17. Glad it is going well, HO's would probably give you more bang for your buck in Frost. Really excited about the proposed changes to Ice Patch's animation time, working on a Ice/Fire and Ice/Rad right now. Stay Frosty!
  18. So according to Mids, FF has a DPA 33.45 and Cross Punch is 43.34, is that basically the same? What numbers are you referring to? Plus if you are a tank, it will be tough not to hit more then one enemy with Cross Punch. It also gives a home for +recharge proc in build that doesn't have any other options for it, in addition to the inherent bonuses. I never said you couldn't take Gloom too, which my Fire/Ice tank has by the way, along with Cross Punch. As I said, you could still put your the other purple proc somewhere else like Ice Sword for example. But I don't play the game to min/max to get the best pylon times. Playing in teams 30+ everything dies so fast anyway, having my best powers available more often is more important to me.
  19. Just to throw out a few things to consider based on playing a lot of ice melee (Scrapper, Stalker, Brute, and Tanker). -Cross Punch is a great addition to all Ice Melee sets except for Stalkers (probably the best version since they get rid of GIS for their Assassins Strike and it won't stack Assassin's Focus). Ice has some really great powers as you pointed out (Freezing Touch, Frost) but also some of the worst (GIS, FF) so Cross Punch gives a solid alternative. If you are lining up Frost, might as well follow up with Cross Punch and all its nice little bonuses, of course you have to find a way to take both Punch and Kick. -Consider taking the Winter set out of Frozen Fists and putting those five into Freezing Touch and leave the purple hold damage proc there. This lets you slot the Change for Hold proc from the winter set. You know have good chance to up the Magnitude of your hold, instantly freezing Bosses and even EB's. It also gives you more recharge and to me that is what you want in Freezing Touch, one of the best single target melee attacks in the game (1 second cast time!). To me it is not a good candidate for proc'ing all damage at the expense of recharge. You can still put the other purple proc somewhere else and they will do just as much damage. My main is Ice/Fire/Fire scrapper by the way and everyone likes to trash it because of the runners but the secret is not letting them live to run away. One thing that helps that is putting the Critical Strikes proc in Burn, pretty much a guaranteed proc to start off with followed by FT, Fireball, FA. Ice Patch is also a must though.
  20. Roll /Fire, do it! In my experience you have the perfect power to slot your Critical Strikes proc in Burn baby Burn! 1. As mentioned, the power itself doesn't crit and it is the perfect opener to any attack chain. 2. It has an insane proc rate, especially since you are always one of the Burns five targets. I think this is because it grants you immobilization protection. That means that if you are solo on a EB/AV or such, you are always procing off 2 targets. You can even proc with no one in melee range. My Ice/Fire/Fire was my first 50 and still my favorite. Can I get my Fireball, Freezing Touch and Frozen Aura off in the Crit proc window? So much melting... 3. Yes, you will have runners, no getting around that, but can you be quick enough to get them all sometimes? Besides, nothing wrong with letting a few stragglers to spread the fear of your exploits.
  21. Here a scrapper build based on what I recommended. Tough to compare Stalker and Scrapper Ice Melee as Scrappers have to decide what to do with Greater Ice Sword. Take a slow poor damaging attack or replace with cross punch where you can't slot ATO's. You definitely want Frost as that is one of the highlights of the set and you slotted in Range which is great. I dropped GIS and added maneuvers and took those extra slots and added them to give you some more def and bonuses to up your S/L Res. 22. Hello, Ice melee is a great set, my favorite. Couple of points, Freezing Touch is one of the best, if not best DPA attack for a scrapper, it needs to be slotted for more recharge and damage, go with 5 slot hecatomb and the purple hold damage proc. You knock over a second off on recharge with the Agility alpha, you want to be using this power as much as possible. You are also getting some nice set bonuses that way and remember, procs don't crit. Next thing would be GIS, I never take this on all my ice melee heroes (worse DPA then Ice Sword), I would dump it and move the Critical Strike set to Ice Sword or Frozen Aura, depends on how you want to leverage the crit proc, you now have an extra power slot to play around with. I would get rid of the eradication set, tops out at lvl 30 and very little end reduction and I think end will still be an issue with you despite Ageless. You could put the 5 piece winter set in Moonbeam and keep the Apoc damage proc to get back your Range Def bonus and not lose anything with regards to set recharge bonuses with the Hecatomb addition in FT. Another option would be the five piece winter set in Crosspunch to go with the FF +recharge, giving it more end reduction, another recovery bonus and more Melee Def so you could change your unbreakable guards around to other sets for different bonuses to help your s/l resists perhaps. Haven't played shield much on a scrapper so I can't comment much on that, but you always have Ice Patch in case you Def gets debuffed. Cross Punch is a super fun and awesome power, pairs well with Frost but then again, I love lining up cones. Hope you have fun with it!
  23. This wasn't my point. When you look at Fiery Aura as a whole, the Stalker version really suffers, losing the damage aura which gives you lots of slotting options as well as constant AOE and Fiery Embrace, which adds additional fire damage to all your attacks for 20 seconds. In its place you get hide and a healing aura that does nothing to really help you. Yes the Scrapper Burn version does not crit but it gives you the perfect place to slot the Scrapper ATO +50% Crit Proc, which due to the weird mechanics of multiple Burn patches and the fact it targets yourself gives you an almost guaranteed elevated crit window in your attack chain (which makes my Ice/Fire scrapper feel very much like a stalker in that way). When you step back and look at Stalker Fiery Aura, you have 2 resists toggles, 1 good heal, Burn (4 target AOE), crappy healing aura, self rez (yeah!?), slow activating and long recharge end filler/aoe. Also Burn does not give you Assassin's focus. Again, just sharing my experience after playing both, wishing the Stalker version was better.
  24. Actually all my testing has shown that Burn hits 4 targets max initially, not sure where you are getting 3 from. The power description says 5 targets because the 5th target is always yourself to give you a Immobilization protection. I tried Ice/Fire on both Stalker and Scrapper, hands down better on a Scrapper.
  25. I am going with Water Spout on my Ice/Bio stalker and wondering what to slot in it. I want to use it, not just for a mule, since I can use it as a temporary pet while I use my ice attacks to build Assassin's Focus. I was thinking FF+Recharge for sure but not sure about the rest. I have read recommendations to just put all proc's but I would think you want some recharge reduction to use it more often. Not looking for any particular set bonuses but I wouldn't turn them down either. Curious what has worked well for others. Thanks!
