  1. The problem is that CoH has a plethora of systems tacked on top of systems. If you've ever actually tried to explain something to a brand new player, their response to a lot of things is typically "what?" Because different things were added over the course of years. It might not seem significant to you (or me, for that matter), but CoH is actually pretty overwhelming for newer players. Making enhancements literally unfundable and having to worry about grinding influence, and reading a guide just to literally have basic crap like SOs is just another thing new players have to keep track of and look out for. But why should they not be able to afford basic enhancements? Playing without them feels bad, especially if you don't really know what you're doing, which a new player generally wouldn't. It just makes the game feel worse.
  2. Too bad you need to buy clothes IRL if you want to go outside. But I digress. You might not remember, but I do. On my first character that I leveled back in 2004, I literally did not have a full suite of SOs until I was in my 40s, and that was with someone giving me a little bit of extra influence. Once I had a 50 the game began to fund itself. But telling a new player to essentially beat the game before they can actually have money to do anything is, I'll be honest, really stupid and a bad take.
  3. Literally just put an icicle on your knee like Sub-Zero for the Ice Melee version. For Fiery Melee just put some fire on your leg like you're a firebender, I guess.
  4. Total Focus and Tremor aren't using different animations, it's the same animation with a different particle effect. Which many sets in this game do. Air Superiority, Haymaker, Bone Smasher, Havoc Punch, Lingering Radiation, and more things I can't think of all use the same animation, for example.
  5. This would also be nice for female characters who use a male or huge costume as some sort of transformation, like a mech suit. Similarly, I'd also like if a Hero could use Villain badges, and vice versa.
  6. Well then by that logic it should also do more damage than it currently does as the blast version of psionic tornado does more damage than the AoEs that recharge in 16s. But right now it does less damage and recharges slower.
  7. I'm aware they nerfed things for PVP and things that reduced XP gain. While I said any I was more specifically referring to ATs or powers. The few nerfs you did list that fits that criteria are all pretty minor, though. Much lower than these epic power changes. You'd also only have 4 more years worth of things before the game shut down, and for three years these are all together fairly small changes. But one thing I thought of that's toward the end of the game was nerfing the Cimeroran lore pets. But anyway. Is there any reason why the brute/tanker version of psionic tornado has a 40s recharge time and not 32 like every other AoE they have access to (sans Ice Storm)? It also costs more end and recharges slower. The 50% chance for knockup is definitely not it being worse than it's competition in literally every other way.
  8. For better or worse, the actual Paragon devs followed this, though. When was the last time they nerfed anything? Issue 6 with ED? Global defense nerf and HO nerfs, as well as any individual powerset nerf I can think of all predate issue 6.
  9. Imagine making any changes to slow down farming in the year MMXXIV.
  10. The cottage rule is honestly only used as a defense when it suits the argument. Cryptic, Paragon, and Homecoming break the rule many times.
  11. You realize we're on your side, right? We're saying that the powers you want because they fit the theme of your character should be as good as the competition!
  12. Agreed. I feel bad because I kind of echoed her sentiment, but I would much, much rather have the reduced cast time.
  13. If you bother to actually look at the main FF thread, you'll find plenty of people doing the former. And similarly doing the latter. Though in either of these cases the opening statement of the sentence doesn't matter. Feedback is feedback, whether or not someone can say something definitively or subjectively.
  14. Making the mech costumes is both good and bad (good because it's cool, bad for the reasons posted above). I think a simpler solution to editing the mesh, which may or may not be easy depending on how it's all modeled and the topology of the mesh, might be offering both a small and large version. Though the prototype heracles might then be a feels bad if they're separate purchases. Also, considering those were added and the vanguard base was redone, I'm surprised there isn't a vanguard HVAS costume available, either for vanguard merits or aether particles. Though if it were available for vanguard merits, there would need to be a way to give oneself the sufficient number to do so for testing purposes. If there's a command I'm unaware of what it is, but the test server P2W vendors don't offer them.
  15. Having a single CC power does not make one a CC AT. Again, you're overstating the variety of roles an AT can reasonably fill. You and many others have argued on behalf of some illusionary player who may exclude players based on their roles. But not a single person in this thread had stated they will do that? Are they in the room with us right now? Who is this imaginary person you've made up and are protecting the game from?
  16. I suppose now is the best time to ask. Can soldiers in general get some knockback protection and defense debuff resistance? Even basic blood widows get knockback and repel protection but soldiers are relegated to either acrobatics or knockback protection set bonuses or globals. And while widows don't get a lot of defense debuff resistance, getting some is certainly better than none, especially for banes.
  17. Please tell me how one makes a stalker good at being control or support. EATs count as those things to further emphasize their role to be on teams and to encourage people to play them more often and to make it easier for them to "fill" a role missing in a team comp. I'm not sure which part you're arguing for or against. If the reward isn't a big deal, then why forget it if it costs you nothing to earn it?
  18. Even in a game like FFXIV, where randomly queuing up for content requires certain roles to be filled before putting the players in the instance, people still do runs of both easy and difficult content with non-standard parties just for the fun of it. A lot of the doomsaying in this thread hinges on a hypothetical alternate timeline. Most of the arguments against it are "the reward is not a big deal, but it COULD be to someone else!" Also, people saying that some ATs fit multiple roles, which is true in some cases. But what about stalker? Can someone legitimately and seriously convince me stalker is anything other than melee damage? It seems unfair to list controller, for example, as ranged damage, support, and crowd control in that instance. I think a lot of the people here are both overestimating CoH's complexity and underestimating the variety classes have in other MMOs.
  19. All of the huge models. Minions have the kneepads but lieutenants and above don't have them.
  20. I agree that arctic breath "feels" more impactful with a longer animation, but in it's current state it's very not great. But I also think bile spray's shortened animation is good. Perhaps arctic breath should simply do much more damage to justify a longer animation time.
  21. I suppose this is the best time to perhaps ask for the huge model vanguard NPCs to have their boots fixed? Ever since their inception, the minions have had the boots with pad while all other variants have the boots without the pad, but it should be the reverse (as is the case with male and female NPCs).
