  1. If Clear Mind were a toggle, it would encourage teammates to stay near the empath.
  2. I don't think it happens every time, but I've crashed to desktop twice upon hitting the middle mouse button while editing the base.
  3. Is there a way to disable the camera snapback for Quick Look and the new default run forward behavior? As I get older, I find things like that induce a bit of vertigo. Playing the game is now unpleasant for me because of this. I hope there is a way to turn it off, preferably globally, as I don't want to have to load screens of characters to get rid of this.
  4. I'm confused about the two-pass intent here. Sounds like the plan is to nerf a bunch of epic powers, then adjust later. Why not just figure out the right values the first time, and not change epics until you know what you want to do? Seems odd to nerf epics, have everyone who cares about that respec out of things, then buff some and people respec back. Kind of makes me want to just not play until they figure it out.
  5. I would greatly prefer that they *not* do that. Different sets can play a little differently. Makes things more interesting.
  6. I don't see a problem with it. It's not a huge bonus, and I don't think it's going to affect behavior all that much. I can't see alting for one PA from a task force if I'd prefer to play something else. If I don't mind, and someone else wants the extra PA, then sure.
  7. I tested it on a mind/storm. I'm not really a fan, as it aggros the mobs without really doing anything much about controlling them. But, one of the reasons I play mind and illusion is because they *don't* have immob powers. That said, the grouping part is kind of nice. This might be useful on a team if you didn't take Fold Space and you wanted to shove some mobs at the tank. I'd probably rather see this power, minus the immob, in the Teleport pool. I liked TK as it was, an extra hold power. Also, this 30 seconds of toggle then dropping is a mechanic I dislike everywhere I've seen it: Afterburner, Phase Shift, now this. Weird quirk: while this power is active, if you hit one mob with Levitate, the whole group goes up and down, though it looks like only the target takes damage.
  8. I have a few homages to favorite DC characters, but they're *very* loose allusions for the most part. No one has ever commented on picking up on the allusions. For one thing, the costumes tend not to match, and I don't name them after the original character. Generally they're named after songs, and their concept/personalities are a loose homage as reimagined for the name. In general I mostly came up with an AT and powerset I wanted to play, and the homage developed as I got to see how they played. Princess of the Dawn - inv/axe tank, mace/shield brute, kat/inv brute. Wonder Woman at heart, but just in white armor. Only visual cues are a tiara, dark hair, and the Hellenic Beauty badge title. Even in her brute forms, she's a tank at heart, and always takes leadership. Named after a heavy metal anthem by Accept. She started out looking more like Hawkwoman and always had wings, but the Princess thing sort of took over and she did start as a tank, so embraced the WW thing. Chord of Souls - dark/sonic defender, dark/dark controller. Nightshade from Shadowpact, but just looks gothic elegant. Named after a Fields of the Nephilim song, with pets named after a Sisters of Mercy song. Xiberia - mace/dark brute, db/will scrapper, db/will stalker, kat/dark brute. Hawkwoman (specifically from Hawkworld, where she's not as cheery). Another Nephilim song on another black and purple goth, with wings. Dark armor doesn't fit Shayera, but it goes great with mace, and I wanted her to fly, and she kind of developed from there and felt like the darker version of Shayera. Standing Horse - ill/storm. Phantom Stranger, but named after a guy who claimed to remember an alien abduction. Hawkwind put a clip of a speech about it in a song, and this is "what if that really happened, and it gave him strange powers?" He plays kind of like the Stranger: no buffs, goes off on his own a lot, doesn't team all that much. He lacks the signature hat, though. Shadowpaws - savage/sr stalker. Probably my most obvious homage, she looks more or less like Earth-2 Catwoman (the one that reformed and married Batman), back when she wore a purple dress and boots. Perhaps not coincidentally, these are some of my strongest characters, because I spent a lot of time on their builds, and it bothered me a lot when any of them didn't do well. I can't be playing a wimpy Amazon princess in spirit, now can I? Etc.
  9. No question for me, my dark/sonic defender. I would miss the hell out of some others, but there's no contest: she's my favorite persona of the lot, as well as a capable soloist, great on teams, effective at any level, and just fun as hell to play.
  10. Defenders (dark/sonic, thermal/fire, storm/dark) Brutes (mace/shield, fire/fire) Blasters (fire/fire, en/en) Stalkers (bs/da, savage/sr) Controllers (dark/dark, ill/storm)
  11. I love to beat up wizards, and Croatoa is pretty much my favorite zone. Talos for utility, Croatoa for the mobs. CoT are just so smug that it's really satisfying punching them, and my SG is full of witches that think CoT use magic wrong and must be stopped. Almost every character of mine is magic origin, and Halloween is my favorite event. I think I was around for the first one, and Eochai impressed the hell out of me.
  12. Making difficult content easy: dark/dark controller or dark/sonic defender Need a front line: inv/axe tank, mace/shield brute Damage: fire/fire blaster, fire/kin corruptor Am grumpy/bored: bs/da stalker, savage/sr stalker, ill/storm controller, dark/dark scrapper, storm/energy defender, en/en blaster Keeping tank or duo partner alive: emp/sonic defender, mind/emp controller, thermal/fire defender Need a tank but there are immob-happy controllers: dark/dark brute with fold space, fire/fire brute Lowbie TF (Positron or something): kat/inv brute, claws/wp brute, one of the "make difficult content easy" ones, fire/fire blaster I have other characters I like, but those are the ones I go to for those conditions.
  13. Sure, this still happens. I don't like immob powers, so I sometimes have trouble with dominators and controllers. My dark/dark dom has Smite, and no other melee-range attacks. My bs/da stalker doesn't use the first sword attack. My ill/storm doesn't particularly want O2 or Gale. They're all fine powers, just don't fit into what I'm doing with those characters.
  14. War Mace. I like it with DA enough to have both brute and tank versions.
  15. Tested this, and I can pretty easily keep an aoe chain going, which is nice. Having some of this aoe available way earlier is also nice, especially on a tank. I've tanked many a TF with one or two attacks plus taunt, which gets real dull. Would really like to be able to use the original animation, or something like it, for axe cyclone. I prefer the simple axe moves without wind effects.
  16. Definitely do not like the changes to Force Bolt and the repel field. Tested it on beta with my FF/Rad in the RWZ, where she's been having a lot of fun helping tanks get rikti into the bowl during MSRs. I can't rely on Force Bolt now without needing to slot it for recharge, and the -res isn't why I'd be using it. Ability to reposition large groups is diminished. I'll probably stop taking her to MSRs if this goes through. I guess I'm glad I got to have fun with it for a few weeks, wish I'd tried it years ago.
  17. Flying to missions. I like having a little break between the button mashings.
  18. If I need to alt, I just ask them what they need: damage, support, etc. Was on a Numina yesterday where I was given a password. Never saw that before. Came back and said I prefer Coke (password was pepsi). Was a good run.
  19. Good Katanas look great on the hip, dual blades look ok on the back, even with wings, due to placement My dark/sonic defender suddenly solos really smoothly because of the insane damage on the sleep cone Interesting mechanics on hard mode ITF AE customization is very cool Bad I already have fire/dark and ice/dark corruptors so I don't really care too much about soloing the dark/sonic Dark/sonic no longer has anywhere near the effectiveness in helping a team take down hard targets, goodbye niche, sad main Broadswords, maces and axes all clip horribly with wings Symphony control sounds like that time in the 90s or so when octave up and harmonizer pedals were popular in metal Indifferent Teams aren't going to want non-incarnated 50s, IOed or not, on hard mode ITF, and I don't like incarnate powers, so I will probably rarely play it My AFK spines/fire takes some damage now, but can still do the cave edition of Bloody Rainbow without dying, go regen
  20. On my dark/sonic defender, if I get mezzed I'm generally reactivating Oppressive Gloom, moving up to and Screeching at the biggest threat nearby, *then* hitting the heal, fear, other toggles. I don't even use Darkest Night much other than on AV fights. Overall, for her this is a net nerf, especially since I don't remember any way of telling when OG reactivates, so I'm just guessing if I can stun a boss. This is probably a great change for some, and possibly even most of my characters, but on the most important character, it's something I'd really love to turn off.
  21. Pretty sure I posted a suggestion to make this *change that the thread is about* optional. Seems to be gone. Was that off-topic, or have I gone senile?
  22. Same here. All of my weapons users also fly and have wings, so only the katana really looks good for me. I'd really only expect to see two-handed weapons on the back, and everything else I'd have thought would default to the hip anyway. There's something terribly silly about carrying my daggers on my back. Axes in particular look really painful clipping right through the wings.
  23. For some of us, hard targets are the interesting part of the game. No one has ever asked me to reroll my dark/sonic to dark/fire so I can take down trash mobs faster. I took Howl but often leave it out of my attack chain because I’m busy debuffing and stunning a boss with shriek/scream/screech plus my primary. If I have nothing pressing to do other than damage on my defender, we usually turn the difficulty up or I’ll alt. May not be how you play, but it’s still valid. So is your approach; nothing wrong with offensive defenders! They’re fun too, have a thermal/fire that I play very aggressively. I just want room for both.
  24. One problem I found with this was it did not look like there was any visual cue whether the toggles were working or not. There's a big difference between hitting a boss with a ranged stun then moving into melee range with Oppressive Gloom on vs having Oppressive Gloom off. I'd probably just turn this option off on most characters if it was available at the gull, but it would be a lot less annoying if I could tell when the power was functioning. Exceptions might be characters with a lot of armor toggles + something offensive. Convenience on them isn't really a good tradeoff for such a long recharge on squishies that tend to have one or two offensive toggles that they really depend on, though.
