  1. For me, "playing the game" is a variable mix of costume/character design, trying various AT/power mixes to find ones I like, immersion in the game world, enjoying random interaction with other players, teaming with my friend. Basically, all aspects of the game. I just love the game, never really get tired of it. I was invited into closed beta, but couldn't get a PC and internet connection that could run it until beta went open, but I was in from then on, and I've never really stopped enjoying the game. Kinda feels like it was fate, too: this is the only game I ever got an invite into beta for, and it was out of the blue; I live just a few miles from the latitude & longitude the devs gave for Paragon City in the old beta forums; supers is my favorite genre, and my friend and I had been disappointed with the vaporware supers games that had been promised just prior to CoH, like Guardians: Agents of Justice, and had found the single player Freedom Force to be pretty good but wanted to be able to do multiplayer... and then City of Heroes showed up. Playing City of Heroes means spending time with something that pretty much ticks all of my boxes. I've had great experiences during The Gap, playing games like Skyrim, the Dishonored series, Minecraft, and others, all of which literally provided me with thousands of hours of excellent game time, but CoH, while certainly flawed and showing it's age, still retains the #1 spot.
  2. My "Pie-In-The-Sky" Wishlist (Sears, ca. 1976): "Anti-Lights": things like the floodlights that have a projected point of illumination, except... they have a projected point of dimness or darkness; they suppress the natural lighting in an area. Knock out those lightbulbs you can only see with Options --> Hidden Markers turned On. Seriously, the ability to create small areas of significantly lessened light (without any weird SFX) would be awesome. The various warning signs like "Danger: Electrocution Hazard" and whatnot that are out there in the wild. Want some OSHA approval for my base, please. At least one non-medical refrigerator. Also other household appliances like a washer, dryer, stove... yes, I made a good stove thanks to someone's helpful guide over in Basebuilding using flipped-over Exploration Markers, but some real deal items would be appreciated. Can the quality "Storage" be separated from the current storage objects, such that we could apply them to something other than wire cages, noisy floorspace-hogs and so on? That crate could become my inspiration storage, that shelf my enhacement storage, that Tech Box my salvage storage. Looking at the weird color wrap around storage items in Hidden Markers, I can see that this might be even more unlikely than usual, but this is my wishlist, and I can always ask. I *know* I'm not getting the Space: 1999 Eagle for Christmas, but it's going on the list anyways! And possibly something similar for interior base teleports, so I don't have to have some glowy effect on a "door" to teleport from Alpha to Beta. Doors like in missions but in the base? That's be sooooo much smoother. Oooh! Oooh! Just saw this on Psyphon's post just above mine - seconding ability to add coalition members to permission lists. I had more in my head, but it all fell out. Maybe later.
  3. Happened again about a week ago. Details are now hazy, but it was different characters for both me and my teammate. I opened the portal, teammate used it, portal closed before I could use it. All in under 5 seconds.
  4. This happened twice on the evening of Monday 27 July 2020. I was playing on Indomitable server, with my then-25th level Sentinel in a team with a then-level 36 controller. I would summon an Ouroboros portal using the temp power in my tray. My teammate would click on it, and transport to Ouroboros normally. However, for me, the portal would then wink out, as though either I had clicked on it (which I had not), or it had timed out (use of the portal was within a few seconds of manifestation, nowhere near the 5-minute timeout). I have not yet had an opportunity to test this again. Use of my teammate's portal was normal for both characters.
  5. Haven't had to say this since 1992, when I was on AOL, but... me too.
  6. Thank you, good to be here!
  7. Wow, I sure missed a bet by not looking closer at the forums! Was primarily on Protector, with alts on almost all of the shards in case of shutdowns. My SG was The Invincible Protectors, and my mains were Crius (grav/ff troller), Thunderbolt (SS/Inv tank), Pure Magic (eng/eng blaster) and Atsuko Kagame (Peacebringer). All of whom I've replicated here on Indomitable. Wish I could remember the names and costumes of more of my toons - I had an archery hero that I loved playing but can't remember her name, costume or secondary, for example 😞 Dozens more languishing under the same fate of my forgetful brain, ah well. I mostly solo'd or ran with a small group of friends, but I do recognize a few of the names here. Good to know so many of us are back! Here's Crius from back on Live (I kept a bunch of screenshots, but not many of my own toons, alas):
  8. I was directed here because I had an issue with base editing controls (which ended up being a quirk with my keyboard). I've viewed about 5 or 6 of Dacy's videos and I am so glad I did! I knew, in a vague way, that there were vast possibilities with base building, but I had no idea what that really meant. Thank you, Dacy and everyone else who contributed to this thread. You really opened my eyes!
