  1. It could be that the default nvidia setting disables gamma by default, or that an old COH profile is. (mentioning that since I still have one since way back) probably unrelated,, but I remember way way back, when tweaking gamma was a thing to improve visibility in games, and finding out through trial and error that tweaking the gamma too much would make some games more prone to crashing, while using normal gamma didn't. I figure it might be worth mentioning, just in case you tweak the gamma and start experiencing crashes. ( I think it's just fine these days, but it wasn't back then ) just so you might be aware of what might cause crashing. (you never know)
  2. I haven't used a swapfile on this computer since I installed 32 gigs of RAM. It stays on for months between reboots, and it's the most stable computer I've ever seen. The only time this becomes a problem is when windows runs out of available memory, at which point it will BSOD*. But this only happens if I use photoshop and make extra large projects and forget to check ram usage. and once when a minecraft mod had a memory leak. * the reason it BSOD's instead of just shutting down programs, is because I'm also using 12gigs with primocache to cache the C drive in RAM. (super speedy load times for whatever 12gigs of the C that I use the most. This does tend to cause problems with windows because systems files tends to be mirrored in cache. So speaking from experience, not having a swapfile is not a problem. ( in fact, I suspect the swapfile is the cause of many problems.) The point being, memory management seems to be irrelevant here.
  3. Windows 7 , 32 gigs of ram , Primocache ( uses ram as a C : cache to speed up loading, if mirrored, it loads around 5000mb/s (as this game tends to be ; ) ) , and I've turned off the swapfile because ... 32gigs of ram. 100/100Mbit interwebbs I have to wait around 20-30 seconds for the character list to load. whatever it is, it's not memory management. It just seems to sit there, doing nothing for a while. I would speculate that it's sending a request or something and it simply waits for that to timeout before proceeding. Which begs the question, what's different between w7 and w10 when it comes to handling timeouts?
  4. I got 4-5 moons in my base. (a bit tricky to keep count of them, since they keep shifting)
  5. Oh noooo,, my 6 pages of sorted Alts are jumbled. is this a temporary thing or ...
  6. Well i wasn't thinking of herding a the whole dmn map into of group like in the old days, but mostly just jumping into the group and pack them up a bit for the immob, THEN you can fire off your grenades and what have you, without mobs flying everywhere. Makes it easier and faster for everyone.
  7. In a group it's firstmost about teamwork. (if you've ever read X-men you should know this.) When working as a team you have to make some adjustments to how You want to play, this goes for everyone. So please wait until tank has herded the mobs into a group and troller has immobilised them before firing off your [insert nuke flavor of the day here]. And if possible, try to target the mobs on the outside of the big fight, so that they don't just run up and squish the support. Oh, and also, try to stand in range of the healers aura. and sometimes you just got to jam a fistfull of insps and run into a group and nuke them, only to find you didn't quite kill them... that is part of being a blaster. 😉 Having said all that though,, it all depends of the team. Some teams likes to play it clean, some love a bit of chaos, and some just wanna RP. If you get into the same mood as your team, you will have more fun.
  8. I'm taking this as, "We do not promote streams, and we will ban you if you spam your twitch channel in the LFG chat." which is a sensible thing to do. ( imagine if someone like pewdiepie logged on, it would disrupt life on that server completely. ) "... but you're free to stream as much as you want"
  9. That awkward time joining a rikti mothership raid and this happens, although it was kind of amusing to see some people targeting me.
  10. People are just impatient with waiting, so they place higher bids to get the salvage Now!,, result is prices go up, and other people place higher bids, and everyone has to pay more, or wait for a slow period to have their bids accepted. After crafting for a bit, it certainly seems like the market has a cooldown timer whenever someone places a higher than norm bid, causing a delay in the purchase. I normally bid around 450-475k and just wait for a minute, and that usually does the trick.
  11. Earth based powers are sooo incredibly loud in the base, this causes everything to just be muted and all you hear is a low rumble when the volume leveler kicks in. Like a bomb just went off. I'm glad i don't have a sub base hooked up, and so are my neighbors.
  12. I've been experiencing a lot of crashing since the Maintenance a while back. basically it tends to crash to desktop a lot when interacting with mission objectives, one newb alt crashed 3 times in a row trying to do the hellions -> arachnos story. (matthew?) everytime clicking the objective that pops up the (exit) button. other times it has crashed when trying to view contacts. error code c000000005 (i lost count of the 0's , but if you know what that means, you know what I mean ; ) I'm guessing this is some kind of graphical setting that causes this, because I know I've clicked those things on other alts. So I wonder what it could be. I usually tweak the transparency to 80% and colors to match whatever colorscheme the hero has. window size typically 116% and mouse pointer to 125% (because its hard to see it in busy fights otherwise) If anyone has any idea what could possibly be the cause ? maybe some similar crashes with other graphics settings?
