  1. Villain here just dropping in to say hi. The world will be mine muwahahahahaha
  2. Simple, giant paywall on Champions just to even get decent characters and a huge lack of customization. CoH was big because people could damn bear live out the super hero/villain dream with huge character customization
  3. Big thumbs up to the group involved in the project. I'm enjoying the nostalgia. For me, I didn't get into CoH until 2007. My first mmo was WoW but after the Burning Crusade I didn't like the direction it was going and looked for something else. I eventually found Tabula Rasa which I played the hell out of all the way until the servers got shut down. Disappointed I looked again for "that mmo". I eventually got an email from NCSoft stating that they've gieven me some free keys due to being a participant in Tabula Rasa. I picked Aion, Lineage 2 and City of Heroes. I checked out Aion for a bit but I was not very keep on the art style of the game. Lineage 2 was also not what I was looking for but both were free so I couldn't complain. I then looked closer at CoH. I don't totally remember anything except making a villain as I very much recall the prison break out scene. Once free from the starting zone I was treated to an Alien invasion. It was awesome. People working together to fight off the invasion as some many different forms of villain and heroes involved in it was awesome. As a huge pen and paper rpg player, I first got into RPGs with dungeons and dragons. Somewhere back in 87, 88 a friend introduced me to the TMNT rpg and I was instantly hooked. Followed the Palladium universe all the way to Rifts but it was Heroes Unlimited whereCoH really caught my eye. Just the thought of playing as tour own unique hero or villain is just awesome. Anyway, writing this on my phone as I sit waiting for a doctor. I hope this takes off and NCSoft will see that there is enough people who really want this game back and will either look at relenquishing the IP to another company or open the servers back up.
  4. I agree in the sense that we don't know what NCSoft is going to do. It could all go away tomorrow, or it could be open sourced and live forever on GitHub. That said - your statement is not immediately useful to the core question this thread raises, given SCORE team has already made changes and updates and we're playing on a server with those updates (see the patch notes I linked). We're just trying to clarify what direction the future will take, which I think is important if the game does live on - if the main path forward will not incorporate the SCORE updates and people don't know that, there will be some drama. The changes/updates they have done are already present within the game. I'm talking about further expansions to the game itself.
  5. This really sounds like an expectations vs reality thing. People are expecting a full blown working game with updates and changes again The reality is that the group doing this does not own the IP therefore making patches and changes to the game could result in very legal complications
  6. The effect is there to give a more comic book feel. Champions did a good job with it. Sadly the pay Wall is a huge turnoff for me
  7. For those with lower end systems, the cell shading should help improve performance. I run the game maxed out at 1920x1080 and when it's super busy I'm getting roughly 30-40 fps. With cell shading on, I was getting 80 but I don't like how it looks
  8. Well, this is treading very dangerous waters as having one group already hosting the CoH servers through the Tequila platform is getting attention. Having another group starting to do it may result in NCSoft pulling the plug on the whole operation
  9. I don't even get that. I click on Either of those two, Sits for about 5 seconds then the music fades and nothing. "resurgence is not responding"
  10. When I try to log onto either of these servers, the game crashes. The other two are fine just ginormous queues. Anyone know if these servers are actually up?
  11. Servers are now showing a queue list. Currently I am 1665 in line
  12. Just to be clear, that wasn't a knock to the team doing this but I'm just hoping that these guys are up to the task of hosting something like this. Hence, you can't run servers like this on your home computer. Unlike most games which allow a maximum of 64 players at best, we're talking about thousands of players on one server here.
  13. And back down again. I applaud the valiant effort of the team trying to do this but I hope they realize you can't run servers like this off your home computers
  14. And is down again. Everyone logged in and fell through the map lol
  15. Been an hour already. Don't get your hopes up
