  1. I haven't read all 5 pages of comments so maybe somebody already asked this, but why does it have to be a notoriety option?  Wouldn't this be more apt as a challenge option akin to no inspirations or enhancements have no effect?  Shouldn't it also only apply to group activities where the group decides on the challenge settings before they start whatever is they are about to do and only effective for the duration of that particular activity (ie: TF, Oro missions, etc, etc)?

  2. So the short version of this would be to allow for using female faces and hair styles on the huge body type.

Now, what sparked this idea was that I recently created a character that was inspired by the Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel power armor.  It uses the huge body type and the armored upper and lower body types.  After doing so I shared my costume files with my kids and wife so we could all have similar characters for the new themed SG I ended up creating as well.  Well, one of things I did was set up my character's second costume slot so that it was the same costume just with no helmet.   (where the first costume has the helmet with the head scales almost maxed out and the second costume has the head scales the smallest they can be so it properly looks like the character is wearing a huge armor suit and a properly scaled head and helmet...looks pretty bad ass.)  Since, my wife and daughter are female (duh) and generally like to play female characters I realized at the last second, "aww man, they can't take their helmets off and have a female head...bummer".

I think similar ideas have been presented before, even on live, so just want to throw this out there.  I know people have requested a huge female body type as well, so not sure which would be the better route to take, a whole new body type or just allowing to change the faces and hair to female types.  In my scenario the body type doesn't need to be feminine at all.

  3. I just reported this from the game, but am posting it here just in case.

I have a blaster with the Beam Rifle primary and Munitions Mastery Epic pool and even though the costume creator presents both rifle types as being able to be customized, the game will only allow one or the other to render.  Switching between AR and BF in the editor also doesn't change the weapon.  It's as if it's only allowing one rifle weapon at a time, which is odd.

  4. So after having used, or rather tried to use, the field medic ability it became apparent it should either be a toggle or an auto power.  Remove the self heal and -res to heal and it would be fine.  Why would you have to activate an ability which is essentially an inherit gain of skill every time you want to heal someone or yourself?  Actually making it auto makes more sense in this regard.  Currently it's too clunky to use and having to activate it and then aid other or aid self takes too long and I usually end up dying or the other person ends up dying.  An inspiration or 2 is way quicker if you got 'em.

you do notice, that the top 10 isn't just the overall top 10, it's the top earners for the month.

Which is still the same people.  There is no way anyone currently folding that is below them will surpass them without spinning up more hardware.  We're all basically locked in to where we are at.

EDIT:  For example, to get into the 10th position you would currently have to earn more than 30 million points in one month...I'm only getting ~10 million a month and that won't change and I just got bumped out of the top 30.  I've been folding since this started.

EDIT 2: A different means of determining rank needs to used.  Even just dividing points by WUs reduces the gaps.  It actually shuffles the positions around quite a bit.

As for this new Upgrade thing?  Yeeeeeah . . . this one is pretty much straight up a gameplay convenience.  I haven't thought of any reasonable and rational in-narrative explanation for it.  Oh well!  It's still a good quality of life improvement experiment.

Here's one.  You call your butler to order you an enhancement upgrade kit.

    • Thanks 1
  7. Personally, I really like the upgrade option.  The worst is sitting there having to count out all individual types of enhancements you need, buying them...then dragging/dropping them all into place.  Then of course if you happened to have leveled up to sat 28 and you hadn't upgraded your 25s to 30s at level 27 you get to sit through the combine screen crap for... every. single. enhancement.  It wouldn't be so bad if the enhancement management screen wasn't a full screen window, but still.  Some way to be able to maintain them in a popup non-modal dialog would be great...similar to the incarnate windows.  Something else to think about.

With that being said...it's even worse for me because I have to also do my wife's enh upgrading...she hates doing it.  I just told her about the new upgrade option that's going into test and she was excited.

I remember the old days of "Ok so, everyone take a break so we can all go level up and green out our SOs, then we'll pick this back up in say 30 minutes? Ok cool!" I do not miss those. I do worry that just having them purchaseable from the enhancement screen will make most of the game vendors pointless. (I do miss the old good feeling you got unlocking your Origin-specific store contact back in the day).

You still have to go to vendors to fill slots without an enhancement when you level up.  So they will still be needed.

  9. Just noting that I was having issues on my MacbookPro late last year (I think after an OS update...not Catalina though) after I had successfully gotten it working.  I haven't touched it until today because I don't use it to play normally since it's a work laptop, but I was trying to help my nephew get it working on his MB.  I had also since updated MacOS to Catalina.  In any case, I removed Island Rum and everything else.  I downloaded the latest Island Rum, ran it, let it install Wine and download the game files and it worked just fine.

The problem we are seeing though, is that this is repeatable on command, per the video I posted. So this particular issue I don't think has anything to do with hi ping or packet loss. Otherwise the issue would be random. I can say for 100% fact this has nothing to do with internet connectivity or speeds or stability...which I know you didn't say that, but just wanted to back you up on it. If it were an issue with internet, I would know about it, since it has been my job to fix any internet issues for the past 13 years. I have the tools and the knowledge to detect it if it were.

Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on specifically, but I have noticed a lot of weirdness for the past couple months now and it was fine when I started playing last August.  I also doubt it's anything to do with Internet connectivity, but wanted to at least throw it out there.  I would imagine it's a combination of things and not just one thing outright.

EDIT:  While I was responding I was testing something.  I ran the 32-bit client and tooled around for a little bit watching the network monitor and then ran the 64-bit client and did the same.  There seems to be more packet loss from the 64-bit client which is interesting.  The only downside is that it's starting to get into prime time I think (7pm central where I'm at) so this could really not have anything to do with it.

  11. I've been experiencing this issue with all sorts of ATs and powerset combos since around the holidays (x-mas).  I finally found the slash command which would show you the network traffic... (/net_graph 1) and there is a lot of packets loss it seems (red spikes).  My ping is sitting between 130 and 150 as well which is slightly high considering I don't think it was every that high during live and I was on cable internet back then, now I'm running gigabit fiber and I get over a gig on my uplo ad and between 700-900mbps generally down (other people on the LAN).  Issues are animation drops, attacks not registering, stuttering, lag and sound drops.  I thought it was just the holiday event and there just being a ton of people playing and it would resolve itself, but it really has not.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.  One thing to note and it could be related to the pathing I saw in your post, but HC Safe Mode started up just fine.

I am on MacOS 10.14.3 Mojave so I should be able to run the 64-bit version on this thing.  One thing at a time I guess.  I'll report back here shortly.

@mikemasterson Quick update.  Since I did not actually get a Wineskin popup like you did, I tried changing the path in Island Rum for Homecoming to the other EXEs and none of them worked.  I deleted COH.app and Island Rum is now downloading the game client again.  The 64-bit version is now available.  So I'll let you know if this works once it's done downloading.

EDIT: I never installed the 8/29 update which could be the difference here.  I don't play on this laptop and my home computer runs Windows.

@CodeJunkie I was (am) in the same boat...try the steps I listed, above. This is the only way I can get into the game, now.

I only use Island Rum to download new patches. I have to launch CoX using the workaround, I posted.

  14. This was working on my Macbook Pro a month or so ago and I decided to login for a bit during lunch time at work...the Island Rum installer updated CoH and I now see an 64-bit option, but I cannot run it as it's greyed out and if I run the 32-bit version it will start but then throws an error.

The build number on Island Rum is 091320191

  15. I could get behind this.  Even without set bonuses it would make it worth sticking to TOs, DOs and SOs.  Would even be useful for normal IOs.  The combos would need to be slightly less powerful than set IOs though I think...or would they?.  Would the cost of buying extra non-set enhancements be a comparable cost sink to IOs or should there be an inf fee when combining?

The issue is that some people, if you even slightly interfere with their ability to smack around or efficiently burn down groups with AoEs, get pissy about it.

I've been playing some meleers lately, and sometimes my target gets knocked out of my reach.  I roll my eyes, yes, but then I suck it up and run after them.

I think a lot of players are spoiled by fire farms et al, or don't want "active" combat; they'd prefer target dummies that just stand there and take it.

(Disclaimer: I'm in a slightly cranky mood this morning.)

I play all types of characters and I love knockback.  When I'm playing meleers it doesn't bother me at all.  I either run after them or wait for them to come back to me.
