You only get 24 powers from leveling. Every power you take is a choice that excludes one other power you could have taken. So potentially but not necessarily. You might opt to not take a primary, secondary, ancillary, or pool power to take both T1 powers. Else you might just have room from not wanting to take X power in your primary/secondary. Luckily I already have a 50 Arch/Nin that just needs some love. I am playing around with some slots and thematic powers I want specifically for this build. But this is such a fantastic base to work from it has saved me a fair bit of time.

Awesome! These defenses are on point! Thanks for sharing. I tend to side with @Frozen Burn on this. I prefer to have both. In the event I can only fit 1 power in my build, I pick the one with the fastest recharge and put the +status resist blaster IO in it. More chances to proc and could help alleviate the issue that caused you to use defiance in the first place.

That sounds exactly like what I am trying to build. Mind sharing with the rest of us?
  4. I mean there is 14 PVP enhancements which cost 100 merits per recipe. That excludes crafting. Also this build uses all 12 archetype enhancements which are purchasable in loot boxes on the auction house for 10,000,000 inf and you normally get 1 or 2 in a pack. If you are unaware you can convert IOs of like rarity (e.g., uncommon, rare, PVP, archetype, etc.) or by type (e.g., defense buff, healing, ranged attack, etc) with Enhancement Converter Salvage. The conversion tokens cost 1 merit for 3 converters. And it is really random what you get and can be an annoying process... Currently running I:26 V 20.0515. @Psyonico, thanks for posting your build. I will take some notes. The more similar builds we share, the better we can make SJ/WP.
  5. SJ/WP was one of my first 50's on Homecoming. I kept getting alpha'd by mobs so I got frustrated with WP and put that toon on the shelf for a long time. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I was leveling a WP tank and started to really enjoy it so I took what I learned tanking WP and applied it to my brute. Now to be fair... this is a very expensive build... But I have been playing it the last few nights and I only died fighting hamidion during Lady Grey SF. The goal of the build was to have OK all around defense and resistances with some monster regeneration. It is still a work in progress. Feel free to play around with the last two slots as you want. I noticed a slight issue with accuracy so I picked up Focus Accuracy gives a better bonus than Tactics, but obviously doesn't help your team. Also, Power transfer set may not be required. The bonus regen is nice but the heal proc is meh... 75 hp every so often but I don't think it is really doing a whole lot. Without Vigor in your Alpha slot I get 79.62 HP/sec With the top tier Vigor Core Paragon it goes up to 91.47 HP/sec If you opt for Resilience Core Paragon in your Alpha slot you get this: Which honestly might be a better option, but I will let others chime in who have more experience in the subject. 6. No I haven't. But I can't read that title without thinking of this guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkzptjhCkbs
  7. Fun to fight. Tsoo (dear CoH gods, please let us have Tsoo hats, masks, and belts at Icon. Thanks) So many different unique bosses. Every fight feels different. Double sorcerer can be very annoying though. Luddites Where to start... Luddism is such a foolish idea and what better way to make fun of them than in a video game. I guess I just like beating them up on moral grounds. Skulls Got to Kill Skuls! I still remember the first time loading into Kings Row and murdering arresting skulls. Good times.... Skulls > Hellions. Yeah I said it! For a low level gang they are more interesting than their competition. I really wish there was more Skulls content. Hate to fight. Knives of Artemis (would also like all the extra costume pieces they wear TY) Just annoying. Caltrops, web grenades, poison, huge lethal damage potential, and if you try to sneak past them... perception. Legacy Chain What's up with these magic dorks? They go on and on about how they are so great and protecting things from the bad magics. Then you show up wreck their party and they swing their ego around by spamming Knockback and rock golems till you get tired of them. Difficulty of the fight isn't very high but I just can't stand them on principal. Red Caps First off, I love their animations. I laugh everytime I see a gnome used as a projectile. But when it hits you and you're blinded it is a different story. Also when you are about to kill them sometimes they get bigger. Minions come back as lieutenants and the LTs even have a chance to come back as bosses. Each time they do this they restored to full health and you get no exp for killing the lesser form. BS! Fighting to stay awake. Council / 5th column Who doesn't like punching a neo-nazi? well that's where the fun stops. The huge body count mobs supplemented by the din of machine gun fire. The only time I get excited is when a wolfman focuses me when playing a squishy. Else it is standard rotation with little chance of failure. Practice Dummy I can't count how many times I have tried to kill these bastards in the Vanguard base to no avail. Just attack attack attack. Nothing.... ever.... happens....
  8. Galaxy City... (too soon?) I played the Hollows so much on live I never want to go there again. (unless its for badges... I need all the badges) Boomtown I forgot was a place. Also the CoV maps are fantastic. Everyone should spend some time redside. The Rogue Isles have some of the most interesting nooks and distinct areas. Seriously they are better maps (except Granville. That place is a mess)
  9. I was striving for something very unique, unlike any hero I've seen thus far. I wanted an alien that would be the perfect nictus host. Slender off putting proportions from hard labor on a low gravity world. Long legs, slightly above average height, thin hips, waist, heavy chest and shoulders. What could be more off putting than a purple and black guy with a skull for a face? Looks really cool with the armors going: Costume I: Punk Nictus: Not much to say here about the costume. It is my go to punk jacket shoulder combo, studded belt, and work boots. The resistance pants was picked for the neutral pattern and glowy stripe. I was a punk when I started playing CoH and I guess I always will be. Costume II: Void Magnus: Took a lot of inspiration from the CoT mages. I wanted spikey bits, harsh lines everywhere, and to invoke an evil sort of look. I really like the fireflies aura due to its delicate addition without overpowering the costume. After all, that's what Shadow Cloak is for. Costume the III: Armoured EVA: I actually took inspiration for this costume from blayzemaster's post in this thread. I wanted to make some sort of space suit for this guy but couldn't really bring it together until I studied blayzemaster's costume. I kept the mystical CoT sort of shoulders and added armor bits as I saw fit. Given the more mystical feel to this character I thought the Elemental Order gloves were acceptable and the pointy ascension boots added some much needed spikey bits to the bottom. I wanted to enhance my characters slender bottom and wider top so I opted for tights instead of armoured bottoms. I was torn between the Tech Knight and Clockwork chest pieces but I really liked the added bulk and Clockwork was unavailable with armored chest. Head detail on the armour: Costume the bonus: Void Corsair: This was actually the first costume I made. I tried really hard to do a four color set. Originally I did not want purple clothing because I knew I would extrude enough purple. I have the Space Jolly Roger cape with a gold skull. I am not sure how much I like this one due to CoH's limited pallets and dye channels colors are not quite what I wanted but they will have to do.
  10. Hey everyone! I was hoping to get some assistance in power choices and potential IO choices. I am having a lot of fun with this Dom and feel like I have too many ranged attacks just sitting unused. Is there anyone with some CTRL/DOM/BLSTR experience that could help me weed out a bit or optimize cycles? Here are my thoughts on each power, please give me your insight regarding my power choices. Gravity Control Crush Why? single target immobilize when the TAoE version recharges so fast. Lift Guess I have to. Good soft control if your flopping around like a fish you aren't attacking. Gravity Distortion Single target hold alway useful Propel At first I did not want to take this power because of its long animation time. But I soon realized it did a full dumpster load of damage (literally sometimes) so I used an alt build to try it out. I was happy to see the animation times were significantly reduced from the old days. I am happy with this power as my staple DPS. Crushing Field TAoE immobilize? Yes please. Dimension Shift Phasing attacks almost always lead to player frustration and wasted attacks. Unless something has changed that I do not know about, I will not take this. Gravity Distortion Field TAoE Hold with an obnoxious recharge. I will still take it. Wormhole My favorite lol power. Good for grouping enemies and controlling mobs. Singularity Honestly I never get far enough in Grav to get this in the old days. I don't know enough about what Singularity does other than some single target grav attacks and repel. I will take it because more control is always welcomed. Energy Assault Power Bolt Gotta take it. Bone Smasher I like this power but would not be upset if it was missing. Good stun chance with domination though. Power Push Does a fair amount of damage and strong knockback. Good for when you need to get a melee baddie away from you but I should be able to pacify them with holds, imobs, or propel's KB. However I do like the look of the projectile. Power Blast More pew pew. But stats wise propel is better in every way. Power Boost Sometimes you need a super hold for that pesky boss. Here is the answer. Boosting all your secondaries for 15 seconds is amazing. It looks like it boosts defense as well. Whirling Hands One of my favorite attacks in the game. pretty spinny death. I would prefer to keep this in my final build. Total Focus Great attack, good damage, good stun potential, and STORES ENERGY 100% of the time! Whirling Hands got a lot more dangerous. Sniper Blast For my Dom I dont really see the point. My BLSTR 100% would take this but I am so quick to hit an entire group I can't justify this attack for anything more than an opener. With not innate way to get bonus accuracy I do not think I will quick cast this very often. Power Burst The energy version of propel. Slightly more damage same KB and nearly double the recharge time. Ugggh. This is the top of the energy pool? It is only slightly better than what I got at 6th level. I have to be missing something here. Ancillary Thematically I want to take Primal Force or Fire Mastery for my Ancillary. Patron powers are on the table but... I am not sold on them. Power pools Haste (till I can IO out for perma DOM) Sorcery: My toon is magic so I like the visuals of the Sorcery pool. But I dont think I need anything other than the convenience of the travel power. Fighting: Touch and Weave seem very attractive. Hover: +Def is always good and can keep me out of ground hazards for less endurance than flight. Stealth: +Def +??? I want to grab ALL THE POWERS! but I realize that that is now a waste. Help me weed out the things I can do without. Also is there a guide out there fore IOs? I quit the game when they were first coming out and do not have any experience with the set IOs. Thanks in advance!
  11. Hi my name is @akki, and I am an altoholic . Notable characters: Akki ill/emp controller Vol Soldier MM Bannon Desprit Spines/DA Scraper Driglok Desprit Earth/therm Troller Teenage Riot Thugs/Dark MM Arcade Hero PB And more I can't remember or I am fairly sure were on Justice/Virtue. Interesting to see people remembering the Desprits of Clan Stonebreaker. I see Leon Desprit has already posted in here (hey buddy!) Yeah we role played dwarves in a superhero game. A whole mess of us. We had a lot of alts and would play a static group every Wednesday. 1-50 same team every week. I do remember we got popular enough to have a B team on Wednesdays. so ~14 people every week RPing and leveling. A lot of fun stories there. Maybe another time.
