  1. My reaction to added content of any kind for this game: (breathing intensifies) Someone get me a brown paper bag.
  2. I think that when you RP and you interact with more players and fellow RPers over time, as the game evolves, your character evolves. My old alts, sometimes I rewrote their bios to account for changes in their personality and their identity as a hero/villain. I always kept the general backstory, though, so no matter who read it, people understood the backbone and foundation of my character. And of course, the more people you play and RP with, the more of an identity and reputation you form in the community. RP can become more organic, and so too can your bio if you choose to edit it over time or what have you. Thankfully, this game gives you that freedom. Edit: Forgot to say that regardless of how painful it gets for me in the game, I have always prioritized the powerset with the background of the character. (See my mind/emp controller, but with her bio, its what makes sense.) Plus it comes down to my personal play style (love playing support roles) and RPing preference. Its what's fun for me, even if leveling is rough. 😁
  3. I'm in agreement with what most have generally said. If its a lengthy and detailed story arc, then it'll have to be in a structured environment. The openness of CoH doesn't quite lend itself to that naturally, so when you're doing some heavy RP, you just have to creatively work around that. Definitely not impossible though and I've been a part of a few; they were great. One thing that I did way back when was utilize AE and create missions that went with the background of a character and roleplay within that. Very interesting stuff! As much as I wish there was more organic roleplay happening in the open world, it just doesn't really happen. As others have said, I just hit Pocket D when I'm looking for new people to interact with and just play off of each other. I'm hoping to find some players or even an SG eventually that seek to do the same thing. But I digress! I'm all for creative arcs and RPing; it just adds to the story of Paragon City. Every hero and villain adds something.
  4. What a feeling, just hearing that intro music again and being able to reinstall... I'm sure its the same emotions a lot of CoH vets shared (and still do share). First and foremost, thanks to those that made this possible and those that continue to help make this a successful reality. Like others here, this was my first ever MMO. I didn't even have a console at the time I started playing this game and I was in college as an undergrad. I remember calling sick into work on Double XP Weekends and just filling my room with junk food and soda, playing until 3 and 4 in the morning. I remember getting into teams with friends and making new ones alike when doing task forces and raids. I remember the creativity and kindness of so many players when teaming up and roleplaying. Its been so good just to come back in and explore and play this game again, and as I look back and then think to where I am now, its amazing. Here I am married to the man I was dating when I was playing this game, now with 2 toddlers and another baby on the way. On that note, I can't think of a better game to play when I've got those late night feedings and times I can't get back to sleep. This game is the same joy now as it was for me then, and I'm excited to take my time to explore it again and make some new friends in the process. The population of CoH players continue to be among the friendliest gamers that I've ever worked with in general. Its funny coming back to the game and having that option of "Help Me!" or "Helper" because I remember my basics, but there's other things where I'm like, "Uh, how do I do that again?" In the end, I chose neither because I'm so happy just to rediscover it all again (even if it is soloing on mind/emp controller, who cares?! Its fun, darn it!) Anyone out there sharing the same experience as me, reliving old memories and/or looking to make fun new ones, new player or veteran, you can call me a friend. Add me to your global friends list as you'd like and send me a tell. Peace, blessings and gaming, @Pavlovian
  5. For Halloween theme, I would vote November 2nd. (Glad I stumbled across this! Just made my return to this game yesterday. Friendly person, player and RPer looking to make some new friends and lend a helping hand. Happy to see these projects in the works. Thanks!)
  6. Hi there! Was browsing the forums and happened to see your post. I noticed that someone else recently posted about an SG called "The Midnight Oil" that's opening up this Friday. The thread is called "The Midnight Oil Opens its Doors," and I'd suggest checking that out. Seems it'll be made up of people that are the night owls, like yourself! Best of luck!!!
  7. I agree with both of these for sure. When I first started playing this game years ago, I definitely had no clue what the heck I was doing. I hadn't played anything like CoH before and it was a whole new world to me. I picked powers at face value and was gradually figuring out what worked and what didn't. I found my play style and what I wanted to pursue, and made alts to meet those ends and be a team player. Part of what made and still makes this game so awesome (to me, at least) is the experimentation of the abilities and what you can make -- that combined with other fantastic people that want to do the same thing and have a good time is what makes it all the more dynamic. Please pardon my feelings of nostalgia!
  8. Its so nice to see the creativity of the community at work once again and this base is no exception. Thanks for sharing it with us!
