  1. Trying to read through this topic, but running into a major problem: SO = Single origin IO = Invention origin TO & DO = ? I can guess, but if I'm wrong I have misunderstood everything. I even googled them, but to no avail. Triple, and double?
  2. They fixed that? Today right, if not, Howcum I was still having trouble getting through doorways two nights ago? Lore pets aren't much better, FWIW.
  3. True, the standings are posted in table format, and that's easy to go in and scrape that to a database. From that point, you can use whatever php script you've got in mind to award prizes. The added bonus, is you would have the monthly standings in your database to play with for whatever reason you like!

So, a quick question: I seem to be folding along, and it's been kind of fun watching the progress, which projects I'm working on, etc. So I went to check on my Homecoming standings, and I'm at N/A? Is there something I'm missing there? Not worried about the competition aspect, as I know I won't be able to compete with the power machines, but I'm simply curious...
  5. Awkward and uncomfortable, and I can't help but wonder what horrible penalty will befall us all if I lose this kid while I super-leap around, and use Ouro. Logging out. Cute, but I'm too in the dark about the whole thing.
  6. TEAM BADGES Easy as pie. No nerfing or rewriting or even creating new content. Not too hard, but not too easy. Jeepers.
  7. Here's a thought. The game itself doesn't need to change. It seems all agree that fun team play is one of the unique parts of COH. (At least I agree with me...LOL) Why not a new set of badges based around team play, construction, etc? Such as: -Win Ms, Liberty's task force with an all blaster team. -Win Ms. Liberty's task force with an 8 player balanced team (say, no repeats of archetypes?) -etc. It could even apply to radio teams: -Run 10 consecutive successful missions with an all tank team -Run 20 consecutive successful missions with an all tank team -Run 20 consecutive successful missions with an 8 player balanced team -ad infinitum All you'd really need to do is add a new badge category, some new graphics, and set the benchmarks. It would encourage a whole new brand of play. Might even expose the nuke em all plow through content players to a new enjoyment they never knew they could have. Sort of like the Arena badges, but easier, since there's more teams than arena matchups. Thoughts on that?
  8. I think the issue is team play. Team play, for all its unique contribution to the fun of the game, also tends to level players up (too?) fast. For example: I love tank play. It's more challenging than some would think, but easy enough to still be enjoyable while serving a purpose on a team. That's pretty much gone, or at least seems to be to me lately. The tank should be grabbing the aggro to protect the rest of the team, for example, but on so many high level runs lately, I find myself stuck behind seventeen robots, demons, or somesuch nonsense, basically placing me in cleanup, while my teammates in front either die on the regular, or rush through the mission. I might as well be doorwatching. I enjoy and appreciate my power levels for soloing some content, but I love this game for its teamwork aspect. A good team is hard to find, but an amazing experience. Could there be a way to balance team construction, so that you literally have to piece together a perfect combination? Not sure. I certainly don't think the game needs to be "fixed". Those times I luck into the perfect team are why I play the game. The rest is drudgery.

I think the game is a perfect balance up until about level 30, where a new player--or an oldschool returning player--is easily overwhelmed by the higher level players, and can sometimes feel like a missing cog. Then, once you hit 50, and you think you got it figured out, you have to learn a whole new game system... And even in incarnate play, sometimes, a team can be so overpowering, the play itself is boring...I personally prefer levelling down sometimes, just for the interaction and fun. I think I skipped a lot of content just whizzing through the levels, without even thinking...makes you wonder if content achievement shouldn't also be part of levelling up, and not just XP...would make the game more rewarding...
  10. Maybe it's the OCD in me, but I really want to strike all the exploration badges off my list, and those pesky Safeguard badges just sit there staring me in the face. Has anyone gotten them, and if so, what's the best technique? There are, of course, other safeguard badges to be had...I'm now wondering: in a team mission, wouldn't everyone still have to find the exploration badge in order to get it, or could you split off one member to find it while the rest went about the remaining parts of the mission? I think the challenge could be fun, but I haven't played enough Safeguard missions to spearhead a badge team yet... Thoughts are welcome!

  12. OK, so count me as an old guy what doesn't QUITE get it. Sounds like we're setting up our systems to help with larger calculations over a broad network? Not sure, as I don't know what "fold" means. Complete guess, after reading this topic. So, do our systems need to be on all the time? What are the requirements? While I appreciate the thought behind this, there's too many questions yet to be answered for me. Feel free to tell me that squares aren't welcome, I won't be offended, but would definitely want to help, if I understood how... (And I'm no dummy, I built this machine, just don't necessarily follow every new online tech...)
