  1. I run Homecoming on Linux and it runs great. I use Lutris and Wine Development. When i moved to Linux I just copied much of my COH folder to my Wine folder and tinkered a bit and everything worked. I still have that folder on USB. I'm getting a new faster computer and could just copy the old folder but since the game has grown over the years it may be better to do a fresh install. I use Tequila and never tried the new Launcher but may in the future. Is there a way to save my Tequila settings and import into the Launcher?
  2. I updated my account info here and verified it. When i set up the account and game years ago I had to create a forum account and a game account. Do they both have emails associated with them that needed to be changed or will the information supplied here suffice for both. I don't want my old email associated with my game any more.
  3. I use a mouse to activate powers when playing. In the heat of combat I have accidentally changed trays and nearly died because of that. We can lock power icons in trays but cannot prevent a tray from switching to another if the arrows are accidentally clicked on. I remember people requesting a lock option in forums before shutdown but nothing got done about it. Somebody said the devs didn't want to mess with the UI. I got thinking about this again when i saw the changes to the power management UI where we can upgrade certain enhancements with a click of a button. This is a new feature so maybe the devs can look at adding another new feature to lock trays.(Possibly add a line to the options menu like "Lock powertray trays" or similar).
  4. I like the LRT and find it useful. When I first add it to a character's tray I activate it to see what zones he can go to and then cancel. The Zone Checker seemed like a perfect reason to not have to do that but proved to be a real PITA for me. I have gotten in the habit of putting my travel powers in the right side of my upper tray and my trays sit on the right side of the screen. I like this set up and have used it for years. The Fast Travel Macro fits fine but the Zone Checker is almost unusable because all of the sub windows stack on top of each other. An option to hide locked destinations would be nice. I have characters who will never visit the opposed factions zones' so my heroes (for example) don't need to see a list of villain zones. The macro doesn't have to repeat everything from the LRT or other TP options. It just has to be quick and easy to use.
  5. The devs should have a look at allowing Tip missions to spawn in Hazard Zones. The game regularly sends us to offices and labs in places like Boomtown and Crey's Folly. Most Tip missions wouldn't be out of place in such areas. It would add a bit of variety to the game.
  6. The last time I upgraded Vidiotmaps i had to go to go to another site and download a file and manually add it to the game files. The Homecoming team should make a deal with whoever is controlling Vidiotmaps and incorporate it into the game so that when it is updated it comes through the launcher.
  7. I think the Ouroboros Portal should be given at level five. That is the level most people begin checking out other zones. Also unless a person is sidekicked to another the available zones a player can go to are all too tough for very low characters.
  8. I like the idea of the Long Range Teleporter but not the execution exactly. It is already very easy to get around the zones. You should have to work a little to get the Long Range Teleporter. I was hoping that the devs would use the example of the SG Beacons - ie: you needed most of the exploration badges to unlock the beacon. It makes more sense for each zone to be unlocked by the zone exploration accolade not just one location badge. If a player is too lazy to visit all of Boomtown's exploration spots (for example) to get the accolade then he has to do without teleporting to that zone.
  9. When the upcoming Issue 27 arrives we may be losing base portal access to Echo: Galaxy City and Echo: Dark Astoria. They will still be available through Ouroborous for badging but we will lose a convenient method of getting the Ouro accolade itself. Unless we spam chat for people to drop portals for us we will have to wait until we complete certain missions (level 15-19 villains/level 20-24 heroes). The devs plan to lower the requirements for entry to Ouro so why not write up low level arcs to send us back in time? i haven't thought about redside missions much but here are some for heroes: Echo: Galaxy City A contact wants to know what is causing the psychic disturbances in Perez Park and sends the player on a mission to read history plaques about Ishmael of the Lost. Since some of the plaques are in Galaxy City the player is sent to the destroyed zone (map is used in an arc from Twinshot). From there the player ends up in a time warp and has an adventure in Echo: Galaxy City (instanced map) and earns "Entrusted With A Secret." Echo: Dark Astoria Once the character is a member of the Midnight Squad he/she is contacted by a fellow member who is researching ways of restoring Astoria. The player is sent into Echo: Dark Astoria and has many adventures. This could be a 20-30 level arc. Another way to do this is as a level 50 task force set up by the Midnight Squad. Incarnates wish to prevent the return of Mot and travel back to level 20-30 Astoria to dig up info on Mot, Hazen and even Spanky Rabinowitz. I always thought that old Dark Astoria deserved some attention with a series of arcs like Faultline and a Meg Mason type to offer repeatable content. The new Astoria has that but Echo: Dark Astoria could still be a source of story content.
  10. The Skyway City portal is already in a convenient location and easy to access. Also a lowbie has a better chance of avoiding supa trolls when moving from the base portal to the train and vice versa. Furthermore one can exit and enter the base without getting into fights during Rikti invasions. The park may be "convenient" for supergroups that don't have access to trainers or devs who don't like putting beacons in underground parking 😛. But the move isn't really needed and it takes away a bit of the charm of the portal location. Not every zone needs a revamp or tweak.
  11. I don't have a build from an online maker but I can tell you of my first 50 a Fire/Martial/Elec. I took all of Fire Blast and all except Dragon's Tail, Throw Sand, and Eagle's Claw. I couldn't fit them in. Storm Kick, and Kick, are my melee attacks. I usually don't take pbaoe nukes but Burst of Speed followed by Inferno is effective and fun. Pool Powers: I took Kick, Tough, and Weave from the fighting pool because many of the secondary powers and the primary nuke put you close to enemies. That gives my toon resistance/defence and absorb as protection. I took Fly as my travel power. I use Hover to keep away from tough bosses and EBs and Burst of Speed allows me to close fast if I have to. I took Afterburner but i could do without it. Air Superiority is a great melee power if you need one. I put a stealth proc in Sprint instead of getting Stealth. I put a knockback protection proc and a "Reactive Defenses: Scaling Damage Resistance" in Hover. I usually four slot Stamina with 3 end mod and the Performance Shifter +End proc but I don't recall if I did that in this build. i did get the Atlas Medallion even though Reaction Time helps with recovery. You can never have enough end/recovery. Hope this helps.
  12. So far various characters have the dark, earth, ice, and fire pets. The dark is on a Controller but I will try a dark dom later. The 'troller just got his pet but it seems okay so far. The other three are all on doms: ice/ice, earth/earth, fire/fire. Jack Frost seems fairly strong and his pathfinding is good. It's hard to lose track of him because of the annoying "icesword" sound that he makes all the time.Certain powers - like Vanguard psi blades - can take him down fast. "Stoney" is tough and usually can keep up to the group but sometimes gets hung up by staircases and banisters. If tough old Stoney gets defeated you know its time to retreat and regroup. lol. The fire imps are fragile but I find them versatile. if one drops you still have two to draw aggro. If you need to stealth for a bit they are easy to unsummon and summon later. In fact sometimes it is better to resummon them than heal them. They can be aggressive and aggro things best left alone ( me and friends have a saying: death by fire imps:) ) but overall they are my favourites.
  13. I have done this arc on a few characters of different origins. IIRC they only visited War Witch, Penelope Yin, Manticore, and Synapse although I seem to remember there being another contact included also. I have noticed another bug related to this arc. On live Percy was introduced by Montague Castanella and possibly Buck Salinger after you finished his arc (although I am not certain). At the moment the only person who introduces Percy is Salinger after you complete his arc. That's how my characters got Percy as a contact. Recently I had a character who needed something to do who had not done Croatoa and and didn't have Percy as a contact. I checked in "Find Contact" but Percy was not listed. I was able to go talk to him and get the arc.
  14. i5-64 computer with Nvidia 750ti I switched over to Linux Mint 19.3 in April and have been running COH in Wine/Lutris without any problems. Loading is a bit slow because i open Lutris and click on COH, Lutris triggers Wine, Wine triggers Tequila which brings up the COH preload screen. My screen resolution changes to the COH default and then the COH splash screen starts and then the sign in screen. I sign in and play. When i am ready to quit I log out as normal and return to my desktop with my usual desktop resolution. That's how things normally go. In the last two days I have had a new and random problem when I log out. i usually park my characters in a day job location and hit quit to desktop. The game quits but instead of returning to my desktop i get a black screen with a small COH log in screen in the lower left corner and the music is still playing. Resolution seems to be back to normal. i can access the desktop by using the keyboard and can close Lutris and Wine but the odd coh screen and music remain until i use the xkill command. Nvidia is up to date and System Reports show no crashes. There are no crash logs in COH or Tequila. I had installed some updates (libxau and libseccomp) but they're related to networking (?) not graphics. I did a backup before install so i can restore if i have to. Has anyone seen something like this before? Would this be a desktop/Nvidia issue or a Wine/COH issue? Thanks.
  15. I have always avoided Munitions Mastery because many of its powers use weapons. Body Armor is appealing because it is an auto power but the hold, etc, use weapons and don't fit most of my character themes. After having a character being "saved" in a mission by having lots of temporary power and day job grenades I began thinking of a cool blaster epic. Grenade Mastery is essentially a clone of Munitions Mastery using different powers with similar effects. Good animations can be found on temporary powers, day job powers, and groups like the Destroyers and Scrapyarders. --- Powers: Microfiber Armour: 35 Auto: Self +Res(Smash, Lethal) "You have damage resistant fibers integrated into your costume." (Alternative ideas: A Tough Hide clone or an absorb power) --- Gas Grenade -35 Ranged single target hold. Sleep Grenade -41 Ranged Targeted AOE sleep ---- Surveillance 41 Ranged, Foe -Res(All), -DEF(All) Frag Grenade - 44 Ranged Targeted AOE Ranged Moderate DMG(Lethal, Smashing), Foe Knockback ----- Seeker Drones (from the Traps powerset) could be used as an alternative to Surveilance and may work with the techy explosive theme a bit more. So what do you think?
