  1. In some cases, a character can be stuck mid-transfer. If the character didn't move and the token spent, wait for 45 min - an hour and try it again. If the character didn't arrive and has left your prior server, the Tuesday AM Maintenance should unstick them. Server Transfer tokens also reset once a week. If all five are gone, they'll refresh the following week.
  2. Login Screen for Homecoming: City of Heroes. Typing your forum account and password into the game login screen will not work. This is done on purpose. Instead, come back to these forums, then click on Account at the top of this forum, finally, pick "Game Account". Set your Game Account Username and Password on that panel and Save the changes. Whatever username you pick (can only be set once) and password you save on the Game Account panel should be entered on the Game Login Screen. If you forgot the password, come back to Game Account screen and choose a new password. (Old one isn't necessary.) Additional good things to know: Your forum account should have a strong password because if it is compromised your game account password can be changed at any time. You can also turn on Multi-Factor Authentication for your forum account if you are used to it on your other services. Head to Account Settings, then "Security & Privacy". Even though it says Google Authenticator, any TOTP Generating app will work, including MS Authenticator, Authy, and many others. The game account name has no bearing on your global chat handle. That is set to match the name of the first character you create on the account, with one free global handle change to set it away from that character name if desired. It doesn't need to match your game account username at all. Keep your email address on the forums up to date and avoid using a spam burner email. The password reset mechanism depends on a current email address that isn't deactivated from lack of use, closed to ditch spam & solicitations, or a email account forgotten days or weeks after it was created. If you cannot receive a password reset email your ability to recover your account will be significantly harder. If you still cannot login to the game and your Game Account Username and Password isn't working, go ahead and post in this forum for help. At the time of writing this, 73% of the new forum account first messages are asking why their forum account isn't letting them log in to the game. ______
  3. What you just asked, send a Support ticket instead. Include any character names you remember, biographies (not the entire deal, but any parts you remember), and what levels you think they are. Things hard to guess without knowing your account. We'll see what we can do for you.
  4. No, just change the password, and use the game login it shows you to log in. (You can change your forum name at any time, it'll always have that game login name with it.)
  5. And another round of cleanup. Homecoming GMs thank you kindly for staying on topic in Focused Feedback. Have a good Monday evening!
  6. Back to the topic: how is the set doing in Open Beta? How are the attacks working out?

    If you're a kid... ...2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Or if you're a grown up... ...2, 3, 4.
  8. Hid some posts. Own your opinions. Be nice. The usual ballyhoo.
  9. Depends: If this is ChromeOS + Linux support from Google, you know Wine is running on a Virtual Machine, right? It doesn't have full access to RAM as your Chromebook does. (If your Chromebook is 8GB RAM, Crostini can't use all 8GB, you might be on 6GB or as little as 4.) If there isn't enough memory, the extra client will close. If you wiped ChromeOS and put Linux on, then that's not the case, something else is up. (Unless your Chromebook RAM actually is 4-6 GB. Not enough RAM for 2 clients to run.) In any case, this isn't really a Bug Report (Linux including ChromeOS isn't supported by Homecoming), so I moved this thread to Help & Support. ChromeOS die hards in the community can address this one.
  10. Do you mean Fire Wire? His contact range is Level 1-7. If you hit Level 8, he'll head to the Inactive Contacts tab and won't offer missions any longer. The mission part might be a separate issue. Do you remember the mission title?
  11. Intel Graphics user? (Sometimes on a Mac, I see this too.) Enter the game and turn your graphics down to "Recommended". Do the 'dots' go away? If they do, turn up your settings slowly until you like them. (Ambient Occlusion and Shadows often does this in my experience.)
  12. If "Exit After Launching" is checked in the Launcher, the Launcher log looks pretty normal. It shouldn't have any effect on starting or running the game either way. Client Log is THAT short? Nothing else? If so, something appears to be killing the client before it can poll hardware. Can't even blame graphic card issues, it doesn't get that far. Only other two things that come to mind: is Visual C++ Redistributable up to date? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#visual-studio-2015-2017-2019-and-2022 You'd want the long-titled one 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2022 version, x64 architecture. (Any Visual C++ Runtime 32-bit or 2010, 2012, 2013 versions won't work.) HC Launcher SHOULD check for the correct runtime being present on the first install attempt. .NET Framework/Runtimes aren't needed any longer (they were needed for Tequila, which is reaching end-of-life with us sooner than later. Mids Reborn still uses .NET if you have that.) Otherwise... Anti-Virus software notwithstanding, are there any other security apps on your system? (Similar to Malwarebytes, Bitdefender, anything that uses a real-time scanning feature?) Other thing I'd check (on Windows) is Event Viewer. Find anything in the logs concerning "cityofheroes.exe" that have yellow or red icons. The game client isn't likely to be a subject of the logs, likely, another program that is acting on it is the subject to search for.
  13. General Advice: -- Make sure your graphic card drivers are installed. (GeForce 1070Ti, go find them on Nvidia.com. If your Mini PC uses Ryzen Graphics, AMD.com will have Radeon Navi/Vega drivers there.) The WDDM ones from Windows that automatically install are not very good for gameplay. -- If you have any network gaming "helpers" such as Gaming Network Boosters, try shutting those off. They interfere with the client. (Just had someone report that issue earlier.) -- If you're technically inclined, you can try running the game with the argument "-console 1" in the Extra Launch Parameters. A small window will appear with feedback you can see where the loading process stops. -- Fresh off the press: Parsec V3 tends to interfere with CoH due to a Virtual Display Driver. Uninstalling it restores the client. (Stick with Parsec V2 if you can.)
  14. I haven't tried it, myself. It's better to ask Mids Reborn for support. I don't want to step on their feet. I think their Support is on Discord these days. https://midsreborn.com/
  15. To sum up, slightly different directions depending on your MacOS version. Monterey and older (MacOS 10.X-12): System Preferences, Security & Privacy, General tab, click "Open Anyway." Ventura and newer (MacOS 13+): Settings, Privacy & Security, scroll down almost to the end, click "Open Anyway." Same outcome.
  16. Did you set a username in the Game Account Page? You can't use the forum login to enter the game.
  17. Actually, your Mac (non-M1) guide is right on the nose. Don't change a thing.
  18. Everyone has a preference. If it works for you, it works.
  19. Only other thing that comes to mind is allowing NAT on the router (if not shut off for security reasons). With that, Port Forwarding shouldn't even be necessary. All the info we got is on the Game Client page of Homecoming Wiki.
  20. System Preferences, look at the Security panel. The first tab should have what you're looking for. Apple changed System Preferences into Settings from MacOS Ventura onward. It's the same features, different layout. Like Manga said, if the "Mac COH Installer.pkg" was the last program you opened, you should see that and an "Open Anyway" button, followed by a prompt for your password. Then you're off to the races. (Keep the Security panel open for any other authorizations needed until you can launch the game.)
  21. Not dumb at all. It is weird to most folks because the Game Account used to be "paywalled". If you didn't subscribe to the game, you couldn't make a game account. Homecoming is free, so the game account is mostly just telling the game client who you are. The forum account can have a more difficult password to keep the Game Account safe. Ask them to turn in a Support ticket, or post on the Homecoming Discord in the Tech Support forum thread there. It might be a forum anti-spam measure and one of our Lead GMs can "wave them through."
  22. The forum account cannot login to the game. That is only for the forums. If you set a username in the page I shared above, THAT along with the password you set will log you in to the game client. Forum username & password -> Game account username and password -> Game Client. (Xandra Rose) (You set this. Possibility: Xandrarose) (Set a chat handle @Xandra Rose for example, get that space back.) Choose any username you like; it won't be seen by players (your global chat handle is a different feature). The password must be 8-14 characters, which is why the forum account is separate: you can make a stronger password on the forums than the game client will allow.
  23. Right. Sorry about the network dead end. PSA: Don’t use the same password for both. The forum password can be long and complex. Take advantage of it, because the game password is capped at 15 characters.
