Hmmm... That is an interesting build.

It's true, I don't slot the Patron cones because I'm using those slots elsewhere for -ToHit and +Def.

I like building differently and by different, I mean bizarre.

I find there there are two major goals for builds: Survivability and Damage. There is always some balance. If you slot only for damage as a blaster you'll die more often, of course there is the old adage that "what is dead cannot kill you." I appreciate that. I also solo a lot so I'm not worried about people thinking I'm not killing things fast enough; though, nobody has ever openly complained.

Further into the point of MY build: It's designed to hit people with the first two cones which, on average, drops their accuracy by ~14%. Getting hit by the other two cones drops them again by at least another 10% (Mid's is a little confused by Nightfall), granting me a rotating ~24% Def boost over my lowest positional Def of 28% (a blended total of ~52% min). This is non-inclusive of all the other things I'm doing: Holding bosses, Minion munching, Combat TPing to get into perfect position, and blapping anything I think needs to die first. It's a lot of fun and dangerous at times, but that's why I enjoy it.

It's not everybody's cup of tea but that's fine. I'm here because I like @Snarky's commitment to the D/D/S movement and find him to be a pleasant fellow.

If you ever see a Blaster named Netherkitten on Excelsior, feel free to wave and please... Have fun out there!

Yep, Dark powers are good and dark/dark is a good combo that allows doing lots of things even with sub-par builds

Oh, you're going to hate my D/D/S Blapper then.

She's built on the concept of -ToHit in all areas of life. Nobody that I've teamed with has ever complained about lack of damage from her, nor have I ever had a problem soloing at higher levels. I found Hasten to be pointless since I have so many different attacks, somebody was always lined up to take a hit.

    And also: cones, Cones, CONES!

My take has also always been: If you're having fun, you're doing it right.

  4. I personally love my D/D/S Blaster

I dug deep into the Acc-Debuff aspect and use her to Blap things all over the place.

She's good at Range, Melee and Teams with Cones/Cones/Cones all over the place.

No kidding, it's a fun build but it takes time to get used to it.

Can you do tip missions while in a Flashback mission?  If not, how do you keep from getting logged out?

While you're inside a mission of any sort while still alive, you shouldn't get logged out. Also, an Oro mission is basically a TF, so you cannot do anything other mission while on one.

    Have fun out there!

By "every possible HP bonus that exists in the game," do you mean five +0.75% health set bonuses, five 1.125% bonuses, five 1.5%, five 1.875%, etc?  That seems awfully expensive!  And a lot of work.

    ...

So—what's the best blue-side mission to get a CoT Guide hitting you?

Yes, it is and it was. I'm kind of an obsessive, so that helps. Also, the build is pretty useless for anything other than this one purpose. I'm looking at what I have to do next and I'm probably going to sell off all those Enh to get most of my money back now that the job is done.

For the mission: The Dagger of Caernoz Tip Mission is what I used.

I'd run it at -1/x4 and get 2 Blue con Guides to beat on you for a while. At your current regen level, you should survive pretty easily, especially of you have a Preventative Medicine Proc in Health. (I never wanted to be an expert on this sort of thing but here we are. >.>)

Out of curiosity—what was the "slow way?"  Did you need to multibox?  How long did it take?

Well, my laptop is almost as old as this game and won't handle multiboxing without me having it live in the freezer for the duration.

Long explanation: Regen is tied to HP and Warshades don't have a lot of HP comparably, so I crafted a build that exploited every +HP IO I could get. I actually have 5 iterations of every possible HP bonus that exists in game for this purpose plus several healing IOs. This got me to ~162 HP/Sec regen while in rest. I then used 2 white (+0) Guides stabbing me (152.9 HP/Sec Damage) over the course of 8 days of game time to get it done. It takes longer to do this than you'd think because the guides keep switching between ranged and melee attacks, and every once in a while they actually miss. I think I've been doing this off and on for like 2 weeks with several breaks to let the machine rest now and again or to, y'know, actually play.

This, so far, has been my most annoying badge to get.

Empath is quite easy in comparison.

Judgement does work, mostly because it is immune to the capped recharge boost you get in the mission, but it does recharge pretty slow. Best to find another AoE that normally has a long recharge that is brought down under a minute. For some ATs, the epic sets can be a good place to look. On my Defender and Controllers I used Soul Drain from Soul Mastery. My stalker on the other hand didn't have any good options and had to fall back on judgement.

Any AOE will work. If you can find something with a near 30sec recharge, that works best. My Warshade used Sunless Mire (26 sec recharge in mish) for the badges.

The DoT you get during the mission does the heavy lifting for you, fortunately.

  12. 13 hours ago, Snarky said:

The great thing about having either the 4 or 5 cones is if PB is too hot you can just sit at 40-60 and train a fire hose of AoE on the spawns.  One is always up. Problem lining up a cone?   Not when you have an endless chain of them.  You will dial it right in. It is a little labor intensive but it seems similar to Ices big DoT AoEs.  Stuff will melt.  Then for hard targets you have ST. When it recharges jump in to Nuke (with Dark a massive to hit debuff). Grab some other PB madness then jump out to either cone or St

You're spitting a whole bunch of truth here my friend.

If given enough space, I select a nearby target and Combat TP to the other side of the herd to perfectly place myself for the next volley. This is especially fun of there's a group over there for me to aggro with Umbral Torrent before I repeat the maneuver back to my original space.

For the Immortal badge line, here's what I've figured out for time required. This assumes +4/x1 and 0% damage resistance to type (fire for Lava and Lethal/Negative for CoT). Lava damage does vary by mission level.

Farm Damage Interval (s) DPS Intervals Per Hour Hours to Badge Days to Badge
    CoT Guide 1128.04 11.0* 102.5 327.27 270.87 11.29
    Lava (no Rest) 38.89 0.5 77.8 7200.00 357.13 14.88
    Lava (Rest) 155.59 0.5 311.2 7200.00 89.27 3.72

DPS is included so you can calculate how much regeneration / healing is required to survive the farm.

The CoT Guide math assumes Rest is being used.

*A Guide's Scimitar attack is assumed to have an 11s recharge time based on log files. There could be a decimal value that would slightly alter the math.

My Warshade doesn't have the HP to generate the Regen levels necessary to do Lava pits or the Mercy Fires and no second because the laptop just won't take it. Feeding this obsession a bit, I created a build to maximize HP outside of Dwarf form to hit 1927hp (after Accolades). This caps my regen at 160.63 HP/Sec.

I've been tooling around and figured this one out: If you run a mission at -1 and use two Blue Level Guides you can bump the DPS by 30%. I have them running at 132.7 DPS or 8.77 days to badge from 0.

For what it's worth, I also tried 3 Green (-2) Guides. They generated 176dps (6.58 Days)... and killed me in about 8 minutes.

    Good Luck and Keep Badging!

    EDIT:

    Moar Numbers!

    2 White (+0) Guides produce 152.9 DPS (7.57 Days from 0).

How good is Touch From Beyond?

Touch of the beyond is great. I use as a mid level No-Damage Hold.  Great on Minions and Lt.s but not so good on bosses.

I have two Efficacy Adapters in it which boosts my Recovery from 2.25 End/Sec to 3.3End/Sec.

Without any health slotted into it at all, it still pushes my regen from 12.2 HP/Sec to 25.4 HP/Sec, or 200+% from base level.

Conclusion: Great utility power that helps keep you moving while you're busy murdering everything else that moves.

The only problem I have with it: It won't stack with itself if you hit twice.

    Dark/Dark/Soul

    Blaster/Blapper.

I currently have her at 50+1 and she's a hard worker. Lot's of DoT in there so things don't die immediately but I do love to see those piles of orange numbers flying high to the sky.

Def numbers in game are slightly higher than in Mid's but that just makes it even better. You'll see a lot of weird slotting but that's to crank the S/L and AoE through Siphon Insight. Also, Musculature Alpha does a lot of work for you post 50 which makes it really shine lvl 45+.

My favorite thing at the moment is to pop Aim, Combat TP into a crowd, nuke, then blap whatever's left. I'll let you know how well Mighty Judgement does when I get there. That way I can do a second hop through another group for the same general thing.

Moonfire and Hess both have at least one room like that. I think they are actually in more than one of those missions. Problem, of course, is having a team that wants to take time to destroy the doors.

You could choose to solo them up to those points and restart after, assuming it's not that much of a headache to do so.
