I wouldn't loose any sleep over them reverting fly n'hover to being mutually exclusive as it was before, n'keeping the no-pose hover option till they figure out how to address the priority order. If its about the +air control part: they handed that out with fly getting afterburner free as well as evasive maneuvers as a toggle option...you're not hurting for air control while flying. If anything, it makes flying feel extremely jerky and unnaturally responsive like when I get hit with inertial reduction occasionally or forgot to turn afterburner off. Too much air control actually becomes kinda immersion-breaking when there's 0 drift and you have 100% pinpoint control. You don't feel like you're flying so much as instantly propelling yourself in a direction n'stopping/turning with no regards to momentum in the slightest, its actually kinda jarring in-game when you're muscle memory's use to the natural fly-drift.

That note kinda irk's me a tad since there's now no middle ground between hover-pose 24/7 (which looks really dumb with the new speed caps in play), fly-pose during hover 24/7 (which drives me squirrely for reasons that date back to when I started playing on live way back when) ...a third option of a completely ridiculous bind/macro that turns hover off when fly comes on n'viceversa is also a way to go (just like how it kinda was before and things where fine x.x) Can the pose-priority not be adjusted so Fly is top-priority or a no-hover option for fly so it takes priority when active? This seems like a minor gripe...but the majority of my alts are fliers and this is enough to make me not wanna play after just poking around with 1 alt to see the changes.

I should probably mention that most of my /nin users are fliers...so the actual run/jump speed thing means basically nothing and Shinobi-iri is more or less holding my stleath IO, my issues is more with over-complicating the mez protection power which should be one of the most simple-to-use powers for what it does. Nin being a clicky has always been an oddity along with SR, but that's the nature of the positional-type defense sets and at its core its still as simple as "Put on auto > forget about it" once you've got it overlapping with itself...

I'm....not cool with this change tbh, since the stealth IO is a bit of a weird spot giving its either "on/off by the toggle its in" or "2 minutes duration based off a clicky its slotted to" Do people realize that they're adding the option to plug the stealth IO into the MEZ PROTECTION power....that isn't a toggle, its a clicky. So if you put the IO in it, you get the 90 seconds of stealth yes....but you also can't just 'turn it off' like you can atm with it being in Shinobi-iri and that can be a big issue giving how univerally dumb the hostage AI is most times >.> Yes you can just cancel the power to drop stealth forcefully....but that's your mez protection power at the same time...so to lead a hostage out you have to a: give up stealth initially, b: give up your mez protection, and lastly: probably have at least 1-2 ambushes to face on the way out with no protection or having to literally sit n'wait for powers to recharge. Just...no, please...put the travel set slotting part back into Shinobi-Iri or another toggle because this is gonna cause no small amount of headaches... Afterthought: Oh god....I'm even more against this change now that I realize you can also slot res sets in there....you know, the set type with some of the best defensive procs out there. Mez clicky going from IO end redux/rech only slotting, to taking 2 sets...1 of which has alot of options to slot procs with....? Yeahno, please....do NOT push this change through, its gonna cause nightmares for Ninjitsu users if it does x.x Additional Afterthought: ...with all the stacking travel changes, why is this change even on the table? Seriously. Nothing is changing fundamentally about Nin getting the +run/jump speed still, why are things being changed to make 1 cool power totally boring and a core-survival power over-complicated?
  5. Was that around the Defiance revamp n'they kinda overall got their first survival boost? I remember that being a big turning point for the AT along with a new/better/less-abrasive play style.

Blasters have always been in the upper rank for max hp numbers amusingly, just a rough crunch of base numbers has them tied for 4th highest (by 1 point :P) Tank - 1874 Brute - 1499 Scrapper - 1339 Blaster/Sentinel - 1205 Stalker - 1204 Everything else - 1-1.1K MM - 803 :P Blasters with +hp from sets/accolades and high regen are pretty beefy, my AR/dev with meh/low def/res has over 1800 and she can just kinda facetank stuff through sheer hp (and Aid Self occasionally).

I kinda feel like the disappearance of Cysts probably had more to do with the low populations of the private servers prior to HC and how much of a death sentence they were if you caught 1 while solo. Even after the changes to make nicti damage resistible....when it spawns like 20 angry clouds that pelt you mercilessly the moment they appear, it's not really 'that' big of a mercy in the end vs a cyst. So the mandatory spawns don't 'do' anything now and random cysts in mobs were probably disabled...

The spawn rates of Q's seems to be alot higher recently....but yeah, I was kinda wondering why I never see those purple, crystalline death traps anymore...I actually kinda miss the surprise wipes they'd cause because no one noticed it till it was far...faaaaaar too late to do anything to save yourself. Ahhh....meeeeeeemories...or maybe its trauma/ptsd...kinda hard to tell from that far back.

  11. We're on the same page as far as what power would be a good swap in for body armor. I was actually thinking of the Kinetic Dampener temp you can buy from the p2w but kinetic shield is the power it was based off of anyway. It has some visual to it and looks like it'd be pushing away things like bullets n'fists, maybe some energy as well since scorp shield does that...would endorse this change 100%. Afterthought: Even if it was just Scorp shield's numbers with kinetic's visuals I'd be perfectly happy, you really can't argue that its an amazing defense power plus toxic res.

  13. *sigh* Here we go again... ...again, better def at the cost of "only affecting self"...that's not a viable in-combat option. We've established that you plan to just sit in your PFF bubble doing nothing because of that precious +def and +res it adds. Leadership would be utterly pointless to have since your pets would be getting 0 benefit from it anyway AND you can take more +def powers that affect only you instead! No, no they do not :P No one 'relies' on Afterburner for anything other then getting from one place to another slightly faster then baseline Fly. Anyone that 'relies' on AB is doing probably several things wrong and should probably have someone look into that. Stop trying the blanket-assume everyone does things without any definitive proof. ...So why are we closing in on Page 5 on this travesty of a topic that should have ended like 4 pages ago. Its called 'Hover'...that's the in-combat option for flight, it gives +def...as does combat jumping, maneuvers...stealth, weave...there's plenty of +def powers out there....just not with the numbers you seem to be expecting and frankly...demanding at this point :/ Seriously, just stop. Please...I really would prefer to not come off as a dick, though at this point I kinda don't care anymore. You're persistence in trying to get your way while everyone else is saying "No, you can't have that because it makes no god damn sense just because 'you' want it" is just kinda mind boggling. We all seem to understand how the game works much better then you do and you seem to be implying that you know better because *insert reason here when someone figures it out eventually*. Either learn how the IO and set system works and get your +def from sets like everyone else does...or don't and continue to struggle despite multiple people trying to show you other options....Or play a fucking Sentinel, that is the exact kinda setup you're after and multiple people have pointed that out. Again, can we please get a mod to lock this thread...any semblance of hope or understanding is long gone and its gonna degrade into shitposting at this rate...sorta already has actually.

I honestly respec'd outta Gun Drone because I found better options for sets rather then just having a 4 slotted mule power...and I don't regret the decision since I honestly kill fast enough solo that its not needed. If they reverted it back to just being a cute little floating dps source, I'd happily pick it back up.

  17. Gun Drone 2.0 REPOST! =D (Original thread link) Really, I'm not 100% sure why anyone felt the need to add the taunt factor to it. Gun drone was fine before...but now, ehhhhh....I summon it, and it basically dies 3-5 seconds later because its taunt is a mag 4 AoE around it, not something tied to the attack its using on someone. This is not a helpful change I must say... The glaring issues with the drone are as follows: Vulnerability to 2 common damage types (+20% from Smash and Fire) and weird res to other types (50% lethal, 30% cold and 70% psi) that don't really matter too much since it doesn't give it any lasting power regardless. Toxic damage eats through it like paper, as does negative and energy...3 extremely common damage types at endgame. It can't be healed, buffed or supported in ANY way (except +damage) because of all the 100% resistances to buffs it has. How can you have it tank when you can't support it at all? Its taunt is an aura around itself, not the target its attacking. Unless you stand right next to the drone, its taunt is useless since it tends to remain in the same spot till you move a significant distance away from it. More often though it collects a bunch of dudes around it that it's not even attacking and dies soon after because it has no means of defending itself or prioritizes nearby targets. The drone acts like it has less range then the player that summoned it, it'll just float there doing nothing most times unless you intentionally move in closer to the range where enemies can see/react to your presence. I know this was a pet mechanic they had to add in to force MM pets to actually use their melee attacks (ninja shuriken spamming waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day for instance), but this is a ranged-only pet with an attack range that's the same as a player (80'-ish range) that won't acknowledge anything unless it moves within about half that range. Possible changes that could be made to make gun drone more viable as a tank pet: Vastly increased regen/add a HoT/self-repair function or remove the 100% healing resistance Remove the PBAoE Aoe taunt, replace with a single target (or even an aoe) taunt tied to the target its attacking...possible debuffs to add to this feature like -damage or -tohit Increase is resistances considerably, remove damage vulnerabilities...possible immune to toxic and psi damage since its a machine, it already has immunity to all status-type effects to that end. Increase passive defenses to a level that would make it much harder to hit compared to the 0% defense it has atm (it also can't be +defense buffed because of its resistance to it :/) Add another attack that is an aoe of some kind, be it cone or targeted. The drone only has a single ST attack at present., something like a flash bang or seeker drone would be a good compliment to it for tanking. The Sniper/gunslinger from The Old Republic comes to mind since they had a concussion blast that was a pbaoe knockback to give you some safe space when people close in, something like that as a knockdown/disorient would be a great help. Vastly reduce the recharge to make it more of an on-demand tank pet. Presently with 100% rech bonus and about 50% rech slotting it comes up in about 80 seconds vs the 90 second 'active' time, not helpful when it gets destroyed in less then 10 seconds. You can have more then 1 drone out presently, but changing it to only allow a single drone wouldn't be hard to do, they nerfed storm's Painclouds to only have 1 out at a time afterall so its not like they couldn't make that change to gun drone as well (update below! **) Reduce the taunt mag down to a level below what a player can generate normally so npc's favor taunting players over the drone, I've watched brutes taunt something only to have it turn on my drone instead since the mags were identical and the drone had attacked more recently. Mag 1 or 2 would be perfectly viable for an off-tank role, and wouldn't impact anything while solo. Personally I'm of the opinion that gun drone should be reverted back to the pre-taunt state since its not a pet that's designed to tank anything...its a dps pet with a single ST attack and a very limited range (less then a player has normally) and nothing that makes it strong enough to take any degree of attention from more then a single source. The notion of trying to have it do something else is nice...but honestly its not designed for the role its now been given, either revert it back or make it actually tanky to compensate for its new role. Till then, imma just not summon it and focus on keeping my distance and popping heads off with Sniper Rifle. ** Minor detail I learned after leveling up a storm corr: HC/private servers must've reverted the live changes since I can totally have 2 painclouds out no problem. But still, at one point it 'was' limited to 1 so the coding is certainly there already. This is just the intro post I made, not any of the follow ups obviously but peeps can use the link from above to get access to the thread.

  20. Pretty much this...inf is plentiful if you're willing to work for it, merits are as well and those are by far the easiest way to just outright buy purple recipes from the merit vendor. 100 merits + about 2.2 million inf for comps = a vr piece ready n'waiting to slot.

We're just trying to point out that half of his attempts to get +def seems to require dipping into powers that have high +def but come with the jarring stipulation of "only affecting self" to balance that out since squishies aren't suppose to have access to high personal +def without a suitable drawback or picking a very specific set like FF. Its been one loooooooong argument over +def powers that also tag on "only affecting self", even that MM build he posted had not only PFF active in the final numbers, but invis as well which ALSO has "only affecting self' tied to it and states that openly in the info and has ALWAYS been like that since live as well. So that's soft cap def yes....but that's also 3 powers you have to keep turning on and off to do anything... ...also, ninjas are probably the squishiest of the pet MM's by far. This +def build is even more detrimental to the pets since ninjas kinda require a fair amount of babysitting to keep alive from what I've seen over the years.

  23. That is the primary focus for most people, yes. The fire/cold res is something I'm rather fond of as well since those 6% bonuses add up hella fast when you have a bunch of them...a couple sets (ranged damage and....pet damage for some dumb reason) give a +4% damage bonus as well, most give recovery bonuses. If you're not hurting for rech though...I'd turn my attentions to like....winter IO's n'use those to get some ridiculous enhancement numbers....and more fire/cold res, lul
