  1. For the time being I am considering CoH dead on Macbooks with broken wine. Tried a bunch of things with a bunch of people but for the time-being it isnt worth investing more resources for me. I am moving my CoH over to a windows computer.
  2. No solution as of now, still kinda just trying different things. But if I am being honest im working on getting a windows computer and just giving up on Mac.
  3. Im not exactly sure what you mean, but I have tried both Island Rums and reinstalling the game. Nothing has worked. I might try reinstalling the game again tonight just for kicks....
  4. When you say you used the files? Do you mean the game files and Old launcher, or just the game files with the new launcher?
  5. Having similar problems? Any solution yet?
  6. Yeah I definitely did. Downloaded the new Island Rum for Catalina and then let the game install itself. Still getting hung up at wine64-preloader
  7. Here is what I am getting from doing that.
  8. Okay, please be patient with me as I am going to try to list everything I have done to get this game to work with no avail. Some background: I was running the game for close to 4 weeks when all of the sudden I got the "two black windows"--reference photos below. This happened after no OS upgrade, I changed nothing on my computer except the wifi it was connected to, which is my own router. Here are my specs **30April2020** macOS: Mojave 10.14.6 MacBook Pro(Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) Processor: 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 Graphics Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB Applications currently installed: Island Rum(v. 040520202) Wine Stable 5.0 Wine Bottler Homebrew -winetricks Things I have tried already: Forums posts in which I found these solutions attached. Clean Install. This includes removal of: homebrew, island rum, CoH folder, uninstalling winetricks (Forum post) Removing the ~/.privatewine folder and letting it re-create itself (Forum Post) Removing the .wine and .private wine libraries. (Forum Post) So my problem at first was this screen: After much randomness, and reinstalling the game 3 different times, this is now my problem: Keep in mind this screen only comes up after i delete the ~/.privatewine folder. If I do not delete the folder I dont get a "wine64-preloader" and the launcher just goes from a green check back to normal. **01Apr2020** UPDATE: I upgraded to Catalina 10.15.4. I removed Wine-Stable, Winetricks, Winexe, Homebrew, and the old Island Rum. Reinstall the new Island Rum and the new files associated with it. Here is what my "coh" folder looks like. Currently my problem is that I am still getting the "wine64-preloader" hangup. I am really out of options at this point. I have exhausted all forum posts and there seems to be no comprehensive guide, which is understandable because Macs stink for gaming-but it is what I am working with. I was hoping this post can serve as a step by step guide for those who are not so tech-savy such as myself to get this game back up and running. I appreciate any and all advice. I understand this is a purely volunteer ran
  9. Can anyone help me out with this. I did a clean install, deleted the directory and the game just hangs up, just goes back to a play button without the green check after a few seconds
  10. Same thing happend to me, just finished my 3rd full re-install no luck. I have no idea what to do at this point.
  11. Do you think I need the CoH.app in the CoH folder or is that an outdated method? And if I need it where can I find it?
  12. Wish I had that option but I dont currently, still running into the infamous Two Windows. Maybe we can reach out to some Devs and see if they have a solution although I am guess not many of them boot it up on Mac. Such a shame because like two days ago it was running perfectly.
  13. Any resolution on this? Or should I call it quits and partition the computer to Windows using Bootcamp? Keep in mind this not only a Catalina problem. I am running: macOS Mojave: v 10.14.6 MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) Processor 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Graphics Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
  14. For these three what Mastery pool would you choose from? I was thinking Energy Mastery for the "Conserve Power" but the other powers in that category aren't really useful. My second option was Soul Mastery for Gloom, Soul Tentacles, and Dark Obliteration, but I dont know if the extra damage is worth it, neither would I know how to slot those. I like your build a little more just because of the 90% resistance in multiple catergoeis and overall higher defense, but I dont want to waste three power slots.
  15. Currently running a DA/DM Tanker on Everlasting and just looking for a more cohesive build. I know that Thiefs' Essence is really the set I should be shooting for for endurance reasons, but right now my build is a mess. Can anyone help me out by posting some advice or a build? Thanks all!
