  1. I kept thinking NCSoft was going to wait, then shut it down... but then I realized... they could have agreed to this 4 years ago, and done it then if that was their sole motive. I think I'm gonna trust the HC team - people with a sense of humor I can get behind - and just be happy with the result, and congratulate the many people who worked their tails off to make this happen. I'm still (very happily) shocked at how quickly the donation window closes. I'm definitely not the only one who really loves this game. Thank you, HC team. You're superheroes - even the villainous ones (oops, they made a mistake, or... did they?) - for this effort.
  2. Nice to see the Devs listen to us and consider how to return to "City of Blasters" as my friends who departed for WoW (waaay back in the day) derided us. Go back to your roots, I guess.
  3. Armitage Shanks, DP/SR Sentinel "Time to flush 'em out!" Sizzlin' Sam, Fire/Fire/Fire Blaster "Looks like we're firin' up the barbie" Blameau, Energy/Energy Blapper "You'll see how to say my name inna sec..." Admiral Akbar?, Illusion/Traps Troller "Don't wait, it's not a trap, or is it?" Glasshaus, Seismic/Stone Armor Sentinel "The irony is real."
  4. I did a Bile Spray with Proc'd focus on Dmg, and it was amaze-balls. I think that may have been a diff't AT, but it was shockingly good - worth checking the math, if you're good at that.
  5. That was the name for AR in one of the guides way, way back. 🙂
  6. AR and Sonic both have 3 cones, then Mental has the cone, add as needed from pools. AR is a set that looks at tight hallways or caves and says "Yup, keeps em all in the cone... works for me!"
  7. I tested my 'main' Sentinel on the Pylon test. I normally think Armitage Shanks, my DP/SR, is pretty good - but the pylon test showed me how much I gave up by still running my leveling-up build (though I had a decent idea where I was heading) vs a truly tuned build. T4 Musculature, T3 in most other areas, my pylon was an abysmal 8:15 or so. I copied to Beta and did the same thing, and was about 6:30 - and I forgot to add the Vulnerability clicky... I then ran a new L50 Nrg/EA Sentinel, only T3 Musculature, T1 Judgement. Also forgot to add the Vulnerability clicky, so I'll redo that. I would have sworn I noticed some Opportunity graphics pop up several times, but I bet it was Vulnerability. I wonder if the small time differences noted by the excellent builds is simply the reflection of the 'margin' as they get close to optimal. Could my large delta reflect the sloppiness of the build and these changes make 'casual' Sentinels better? I will run some Boss/door missions with some of my vanilla sentinels on Live vs. Test to see what the difference is for those builds. Will aim to compare similar maps/foes or will note differences.
  8. I found a team of 2-5, running x/+8, will usually give everyone enough 'to do' to feel busy. Very few TFs feel that way on a team of 8. I also found working through TFC, just doing solo TFs as much as possible, was a nice path for one alt. I find the 'grind' to 50 to be more intriguing than the L50 content, personally, so... I alt quite a bit. Just a thought on path options. Good luck!
  9. I was on a Pug yesterday and I faced the same issue. I just said something like “The control is great! If possible, try to hold off on the AoE immobilize for 1-2 sec? I can hit more than 1 guy at a time, I am heavy AoE at this level.” It worked.
  10. I am running one at the moment, and Water's ability to knock a bunch of foes off their feet, repeatedly and frequently, really plays well with a defense set. I find it to be a nice pairing.
  11. Market, merits, and agricultural servants.
  12. For Voltaic Sentinel, I threw 2 End Mods, 2 End Redux, and one combo. I know there is a two slot of some set for a minor bonus. My default slotting for End Rec is a Miracle and a Numi in Health for high end users, along with 2 slotted Stamina including a Shifter Proc. Adding a third slot in Stamina if really needed. As for Devices, I add one more Shifter proc in Operative. I have started to throw the Power Transfer healing proc in for some squishies or fragile toons. Rarely do I have end problems. I think I have 4 Dev blasters that I ran to 50 on HC. The Elec primary worked best for me with a matching secondary, but picking and choosing what to use shouldn’t be bad, imho. Gun Drone is a lifesaver. I usually at least 4 slot Expedient Reinforcement (with Resist bonus) and it is closer to Gun Tank. Add a Taunt or two and it really takes care of business. I did find that with Voltaic and Drone, functioned better if I overran the mobs, running past them then fighting back to front, similar to kiting a foe, but I didn’t necessarily start lighting them up as I entered, more on the return. As a result, the two pets were more likely to follow into combat instead of barely on the fringe. Voltaic is too high an End cost for it to only engage a couple of single targets on the fringe. I see a greater benefit when more foes are being engaged.
  13. Blameau, my first blapper, was also Nrg/Nrg. I also took Fly, but relied heavily on Air Superiority to juggle bosses. Strongly recommend it, probably over Mace Blast. I am not great at the slotting-fu, but blapping is a hoot! May need to roll another one…
  14. As an elementary school teacher, I set out to be Scholastic, and used some Authority to engage Students in Vigorous lessons. Some wily Pupils try to pretend they are the Top Dog, but I am Keen Sighted and become the Unveiler of their plots. This year I have been tasked with being a Plague Stopper, a Doctor’s Ally, a Liberator of ideas, a Negotiator of parental overzealous micromanaging, and a Redeemer of the perpetually misbehaving. I think I better stop now. This is a deeper rabbit hole than I want to consider. No more Burning the Midnight Oil for some Intellectual or Academic pursuit. I will seek the Spiritual Solace of a Nature Lover or a Bird Watcher in an Unspoiled park.
  15. The Epic power Bonfire, with KB->KD, and then Ignite…. Hawt!
  16. Very impressive, Voltak. I may have to revisit some of my Poison toons.
  17. I am getting a few Sentinels that may be able to run around a bit in an 801 without ma,I guess am extremely messy moment in their tights… I will look for any future call outs.
  18. My Rad/SR was one of the most enjoyable runs to 50 I have had. Felt very strong early and through all levels and arcs. I just started a DP/SR and is also terrific. Fire/Fire was the other Sentinel set I really loved all the way through.
  19. I know Orobouros had to be used, I think he first time he did it, he said he was making sure to open more of the limited hero-side contacts? As I mentioned, I was not ever planning to do this, so I didn’t focus on the particulars. thank you for clarifying what I didn’t make clear. Still on my first cup. 😉
  20. One my friends calls this his Completist plan. All contacts, all contact missions and task forces, etc, for Praetoria, Redside, and Blueside. I know he starts Praetoria, then I think he usually goes to blueside. The first time, I think there was a lot of urning off XP to keep contacts active or able to be opened at least. Later, Obo was used to finish off the early ones, I believe. I believe he is on his third Completist now. Insane - I couldn’t/don’t want to do that, personally, but he likes it.
  21. I recommend searching this forum and look for @Hyperstrike suggestions. They are always solid starting points. Because we have different play styles, I swap a few powers around, but fundamentally they will serve you well. Last post on the first page here is an example: I don’t usually take Flight, so I often take Combat Jumping/Super Leap/Acrobatics, or Combat Jumping/Super Speed (when Hasten is already present) and either add in Hasten (if it wasn’t in the build) or Stealth. Stealth and SS is nice for a Blaster to reduce accidental aggro. Fire/Fire will pull enough on its own. Good luck, I hope you and your friend both find success and enjoy the experience.
  22. I also take Frost breath for leveling (respec out in a late 20’s to mid 30’s usually), and sometimes add FB near the end if I have powers open and want more AoE. I usually use PosiBlast (5 slots) and always add the /range option for a larger (wider at the end, but not wider by degree of coverage) in almost every cone. I always take Ice Storm, but don’t go more than 3 slots (Acc/Rech/and either Rech or EndRedux) until mid to late 30’s.
  23. Fast activation, Low End use for the T1/T2 blasts. Irradiate - excellent power, great -Def, proc bomb. PBAoE… Aim, obviously. I like the snipe. The cone with the KB is a nice +rech slot, but I seldom feel like I needed to add a lot of Rech (other than Hasten, and not even always for that) unless your secondary or pool recharges are essential. I take the AoE blast … sometimes. Usually I take this OR a cone. The Nova is very nice as well, great secondary fx. I have run this on Blaster, Defenders, and Corrupters. It was honestly pretty good on all of them. Enjoy! YMMV.
