  1. I don't really need to. I've done the missions enough times that I remember the problematic spots.
  2. I've never changed the difficulty setting in all my years of playing CoH, and I don't intend to. For this challenge, I'm not using the AH at all, but that's just me. I made my own solo super group just so I can conveniently craft IOs and store salvage.
  3. Radiant Cascade on Reunion (Energy/Energy Blaster) is up to 23 now, and no, she's not going to do that Dirge of Chaos arc. Too risky. Sometimes I get through that last fight easily, sometimes I get stomped by the ambushes.
  4. Go to the top of a tall building. Jump off. Land on my feet, taking no damage. Walk around trainers and push heroes out of my way. Especially the big, tanky types. If they're AFK, maybe I can push them to the villain groups.
  5. Radiant Cascade update #1: Reached level 15. I'm concentrating on the hero story arcs and badge missions. I've finally been able to afford a full set of DOs, so things are going good. I still have several story arcs from the lower teens to finish up,
  6. I'm a solo player with a case of altitis. I do missions, focusing on story arcs, trying to do internal roleplaying as much as I can. No powerleveling, no farming. For some characters, I might occasionally turn off XP gain to get more missions in. I'm not interested in playing a character after hitting 50, outside of finishing up story arcs. I'm also an explorer type, so I like to go after badges, as long as they're not too much of a problem. (I'm not obsessive compulsive, so I don't mind missing a lot of badges.)
  7. Given my experience with the game, I have to go risky. Energy/Energy blaster (Radiant Cascade on Reunion). No auction house at all. And of course the server promptly dies. It's not my fault!
  8. Okay, I now have Cyberblossom, a Bots/Nature Mastermind. She's a mutant born with the ability to fly. And then things got very complicated.
  9. I have a lot of characters, and a number of them have between 1 and 4 million. So in total, more than 10 million, but much less than 100 million.
  10. I rolled a mastermind with Robotics and Nature Affinity. Hmm. HMMM. I will have to consider this oddball combination.
  11. Reduce AVs to EBs, EBs to bosses, and bosses to lieutenants on TFs when playing solo on the lowest difficulty level.
  12. It still works fine for me, using a Kin/Regen scrapper, but I'm a casual player. I'm not sure how more hardcore players deal with incoming alpha strikes. I wouldn't recommend it for sentinels, since you don't get status effect protection until level 20 for some unfathomable reason.
  13. Hah. I love sentinels. I prefer ranged attacks, and the reliable status effect protection is great. I'm okay with trading some damage output for damage protection. I now have a sentinel for each primary set. I'd like to get all of them to 50 eventually, doing story arcs solo.
  14. I only have one level 50 character so far in Homecoming, and that one's on hold due to my severe altitis. I prefer the leveling process, but I'll probably continue playing level 50 characters now and then to do story arcs they missed. I have no real interest in the incarnate system. I tried that in the old game, and it didn't appeal to me.
  15. Being a casual player, you guys would tear through my team rather easily. There's nothing really tricky here. My dominators and mastermind are still fairly low level, so they don't make the team. No corrupters, controllers, defenders, or tankers. Lisliren: Fire/Willpower Sentinel Dale Endeavor: Street Justice/Invulnerability Brute Copper Cat: Psionic/Willpower Stalker Yukihime: Ice/Ice Blaster Sizzlepop: Fiery/Willpower Scrapper Crystal Snowflake: Ice/Invulnerability Sentinel Sarah Sorrow: Dark/Willpower Sentinel Shandilok: Kinetic/Regeneration Scrapper
  16. My original main character was Yukihime, an Ice/Ice blaster. I recreated Yukihime in Homecoming, but I'm afraid I've fallen in love with sentinels. I now have a sentinel for each primary. My main is a Fire/Willpower sentinel named Lisliren, and she's my only level 50 character so far. My very first character in CoH was an Inv/SS tanker named Birdy. With a science origin. And I'm a solo player. Imagine beginning the game for the first time soloing an Inv/SS tanker against the Vahzilok. That didn't work out well. Then later Enhancement Diversification plus the Global Defense Nerfs completely broke her build. But I kept that character until the game shut down, eventually getting her to 50, playing her entirely solo. I didn't recreate her in Homecoming, though. I'm done with playing tankers.
  17. Splasher Umi is a sentinel with mystic water powers and natural ninjitsu skills. Her parents want her to be a proper ninja assassin, but she dreams of being a heroic magical girl.
  18. Ah, I remember the days of fighting dual orange bosses solo. It was actually okay for my blasters and scrappers, but of course I had severe altitis, and just had to do it with defenders, tankers and controllers too. It could be very time consuming. Easily the worst part though was getting objectives to defeat AVs in my missions starting in the upper 30s. I couldn't beat AVs, and I didn't want to get help, so when a character filled up all three mission slots with AVs, it was time to retire the character. Thankfully, things changed dramatically for me when AVs started downgrading to EBs and bosses to lieutenants, and we could autocomplete missions.
  19. Although Dr. Vahzilok appeared at the end of the story arc, defeating him wasn't originally one of the objectives. You just had to click all the glowies. (Otherwise he would have stuck in my mission slot indefinitely, since I was a solo player.)
  20. League of Legends is designed to be a PvP game. Players constantly complain about balance, and routinely declare that the developers just don't care, despite the constant balance changes the devs put in. In the old days of CoH it was worse. With far more assortments of powers available to players, there is no reasonable way to balance characters in CoH for PvP. Heroic attempts were made, and they failed to please PvP players, and the devs finally gave up. I would encourage the current developers to not waste their limited time with it. There are much more broadly useful things for them to be doing.
  21. I'm also having issues with Ninjitsu for a sentinel. I have a Water/Ninjitsu as an experiment, and the experiment isn't working out all that well. Among other things, I'm really not wild about having to wait until level 28 for some knock protection. I'm having a better time with Willpower, which does everything I need a sentinel secondary to do. With status effect protection at level 10, I might add. (Why... Why does Regeneration have to wait until level 20 for status effect protection??) I think I'll give up on my Electric/Electric sentinel too, just because the FX for the toggles bother me. I used to put up with all kinds of toggle FX, but I've developed a low tolerance for it, I'm afraid.
  22. 130. Vahzilok before Frostfire? Hrm...
  23. I've fought the Tsoo for many years, but I think my most satisfying combination was a Fire/Willpower sentinel. Status effect protection at level 10, and nice ranged blasts with DoT. I never used to like the Fire Blast set for blasters, due to the lack of a ranged hold or stun attack, but I've grown fond of it for sentinels.
  24. I use those powers on most of my characters, and I don't farm at all. I use Fly to get around town. I actually use stealth because I don't like farming. Sneaking through some missions can help me avoid a lot of repetitive fights.
