  1. So, about this PnP thing...

My 18 year old just started a D&D campaign with a few of his friends.  They roped in an older DM College kid studying to go into Business Law.  This DM actually gets PAID to run games!  About $22 per hour!  I was actually impressed that he was actually socially adept and looked like he knew what personal hygiene was.

  2. Here's my 2 inf.

Back on Live, I don't even remember what KB power I was using (grenades, maybe?), but I was asked to stop using it because it caused issues with the Melee'rs.  I was tried to stop, but it was one of a few attacks I had, and I was trying to contribute to the cause.  I don't know if I did it (though I probably did), but another ranged KB power went off and boy, did I hear about it.  Much deserved, though.

More recently, I was on another team and one of the PUGs dropped a KB effect.  A couple folks on the team (I was one) asked POLITELY for them to not use KB powers.  No harsh language or anything.  Surprisingly (or not), they complied (much better than I did before).  It was a non issue.

So, without evidence, is there griefing (et al.) over Knockback?  Most assuredly - but then again, there is griefing over just about everything.  Does it get reported?  Maybe - might depend on severity.  I kinda doubt any report of 'Someone Used KnockBack On My Target" - a known power being used normally - getting taken seriously.

As was stated earlier, KB is controversial (I would call it contentious).  It works very well in some conditions (like soloing) and is not appreciated as much in groups.  I've been on both sides of the fence on this one.  Communication tends to go a long way in situations where it isn't as appreciated.

I also recall, there is a way to attach a chat message to a power, so that when the power is activated, a message hits a chat channel.  I don't know if this would be helpful.

  3. Look up the COHModder - it's in the Tools forum

It's an automated Mod installer with a lot of available mods in its library.

There are several (at least 3, and I haven't checked for more) mouse mods that you can try out.

The tool is painless, and makes it easy to install and uninstall the Mods.

I would uninstall the previous mod before installing a different one for the same target.

=> Uninstall Mouse Curser 1 before installing Mouse Curser 2

Uninstalling a mod will return your system to the way it was, so you can try another mod if you want.

From experience, changing the mouse cursers while the game is running will crash the game.  Be aware.

There are a lot of other mods there as well - many deal with sounds.  Feel free to experiment.

  4. I tend to use Arcane Bolt (I think this is the right one) as a single Mob puller.  It gets the attention of 1 mob instead of the group (usually), like Taunt does.  Helps me not get overwhelmed.  If I have another low damage ranged attack (a pisser, as I call it), I can fire both off at least once and knock their hit points down a little.

I like it's KB affect.  That is useful.

  5. I don't think I'm an altaholic.  I have about 20 characters - mostly heroes.  Only 2 are level 50. Only 1 is abandoned.

All the rest are various levels, from about level 10 to their mid-40's.  My nightly and weekend character choice goes something like this:

Weeknights: Look for a character that hasn't been played in the longest time.  When I play them, if luck doesn't go their way (4+ face plants), then choose another if there is still time.  I figure it just isn't their day, and move on.

Weekends: 1 day is spent on one of the 50's.  The other 2 days are for leveling up the younger ones.

It took me over a year to get the 2 to level 50, and I expect the same for the rest.  I solo about everything - No Farms or PL'ing...It's kind of my thing.

I try to not have 2 similar characters.  I want to experience how they play, and how I do with them, not to mention the game content.  My level 50 Bio/Street Justice Brute, Duk Duke, is very fun, and easy.  I think playing him is therapeutic.  Others, well, It depends on how much effort I feel like putting in.  Any of my defenders requires more effort to keep alive.  If I'm not on my toes, they are on their face.  But all are fun, whatever that means.  I enjoy playing them.

I don't build new characters because I'm bored.  I build new ones because I want to try out something different, like a Fire/Fire something (sorry, my memory is failing and I can't remember details like I used to).  I like Defenders, but they like to group, but I don't like to group too much - I'm too much of a flake.  The problem is, the more alts, the longer it takes to level them, because they get less time per week or month.   Not necessarily a problem - just reality.  What a concept!

I seem to recall that one of the devs said that they were rejiggering accuracy so that it only worked for players who "really want it."

That must be my problem.  I missed the 'I Really Want It' option.  I'll have to make sure I check that box (and sacrifice a chicken).

I have noticed my RNG rolls tend to be higher the the MOB's RNG rolls.  And I've seen multiple times a single power rolling over 95 consecutively, but with several other rolls in between - it's just 1 power that seems to roll high.

It's still massive (as few games have ever been), it's still multiplayer (even solos share the same air, most of the time) and it's very much online (only). No Semanticist badge for you. 🙂

    This. ^^

It is what it is. Regardless of our opinions.

It's still Massive - Doesn't matter what the player base is

It's still Multiplayer - Doesn't matter how many are logged on

It's still Online - this one speaks for itself

  8. I don't have 1st hand experience with Windows 11, but I have worked with a couple people who have it (I do Tech Support)

It seems they have this native mode that only allows you to get software from their store. It blocks downloads from other locations.  I may be wrong about this, but it was at the heart of the issues I saw.  It can be turned off, which is a pain to do.  I can see that it might be an upside for PC noobs, but if you are an experienced user, this mode is worthless.  For example, my company uses Chrome - We couldn't find it on their site (it might be there, but I didn't see it).

For my 2 cents, I'm waiting for at least 1 update, probably 2 or 3, to see how it works for others.

I also realize that eventually I will be forced to upgrade (if I continue to use Windows).

  9. Here's what I would like to see:

--Color Wheel / More color options

    --Hats not tied to hair

    --Hats & Helmets with symbols

--More helmets - football, for example

    --Long dresses/skirts, MuMu's (ankle length)

--More back pack options, animal shells like turtle or crab

--More animal faces/heads - Ape, shark, turtle, crab (not sure what that would look like)

--Different stances - Not so heroic, like hands in pockets

--Transgendered options - let your mind wonder on this one

    --Wheel chairs, powered, floating, manual

** I reserve the right to change this list at anytime without warning

So if they agree with you, does that make you the idiot?

Please don't respond - like that's gonna happen.

Arguably wrong.  Sleep in truck during the day, work nights, keep on the move for dietary reasons

See, I agree with you here,  Being a truck driver and having high mobility makes it easy to hide the kills - one here, one there.  As long as you don't stay in 1 area for very long, you would be hard to catch.  Or even show they are connected.  Also, you get to sample the cuisines of a lot of different places.  Bonus!!
