  1. Hey all! I have been searching both the old forums and Homecoming for a PvE build I could get some reference from. I did find a build which doesn't seem to be too shabby on the old forums. It is mega expensive, which is fine, but I wanted to ask the great minds on here if anyone has a solid build kicking around they could share with me. Not to mention the old build I found....is old, and more then likely slightly outdated (some of it wont even open in hero designer). I am actually really surprised I haven't seen this build pop up (and I swear someone had a topic about this with no reply like a week ago? I dunno....maybe I was seeing things). Seems to me like a solid combination. As a matter of fact, Stj/Energy would be pretty bad ass too but I already have plenty of energy armor builds, and really wanted to give Ice a fair shot. or.........do you personally think I should go energy armor instead? I'm open to suggestions honestly! Things I'm partial to, but really doesn't matter because I would just be super appreciative of any build thrown my way is: -would like to have hasten -Super Jump or Super Speed would be nice (a lot of top end builds don't take travel powers...I get it, it makes sense to make more room...I have 3 characters at top end with no travel power. So if it has to be, it has to be) -money is not particularly an issue -not super keen on taking chilling embrace, but I'm still fine if its a useful component of the build Think that is about it really....again, any build is appreciated. If people want to tell me why I should switch out Ice Armor for something else I am all ears on that too lol. I know Bio is huge, but I already have a Bio scrapper that I really enjoy. That is the only reason I didn't go that route (would have been easier finding a build because of how many are already posted). Made a few changes with all of your great advice, and looking over both Hyperstrike and Darkir's builds forsure tried to incorporate some of those ideas with still trying to keep Soul Mastery (I like the -tohit and the AoE's).   3. Thank you both, both builds look awesome! Going to try both on Beta as soon as I get off work late tonight. So, in your honest opinion, Would another pairing with Super Strength be more viable/durable? Honestly. Would electric be a better option (I still get a damage aura)? I know willpower and invulnerability are typical pairings but the two sets are extremely boring to me. Should I just pair it with Radiation (no damage aura though 😞 ). Or is their an armor set that performs great with Super Strength I am not realizing? Oh....bio armor, forgot about that one. Although I was kind of avoiding Bio only because Ive had plans in the future to finally make a Titan/Bio scrapper. But I would be fine with Bio on the brute if you guys suggested it, and thought it would be a better pairing. Sort of bummed out, I really like the thematic aspect of Dark armor, and I really like the visual changes u can get with it now. 50% of my gameplay is making characters looks. I can definitely see that it seems difficult to squeeze recharge into the build, make it durable, and make it sustainable all in one shot. And Darkir made a comment about with the set choices it being difficult. Anyways, I really appreciate your guys help, really gives me a lot to think about and work towards
  4. Hey all, Reached out to the community before and was answered with great advice and help. So going to give it a shot again! On live, and a great deal on Homecoming, I pretty much stayed with Electric Armor for majority of my melee characters. Amazing set. But I am kind of getting burnt out on it. Then I branched over to Rad Armor. Again, love that set, and honestly I would have to say it is now my new favourite hands down. I reached out awhile back and got some absolutely stellar feedback on my Fire/Rad Brute build (thank you again @Frostweaver, @Darkir and @Hyperstrike) fully leveled and incarnated him up and he is a dream. Damn near unstoppable. How can you A) really go wrong ever with Fire? and B) Radiation Armor is incredible...holy shit, the icing on the cake is an actual decent and useful T9! Alright sorry I am going way off topic now....................seriously if u haven't tried Fire/Rad (the sentinel version is amazing too...k done) My next project has been two power sets I have almost never used on live or Homecoming. Dark Armor (especially) and Super Strength. Ya I know, what the hell. Its taken me awhile lol. Dark Armor - I hear and read a lot of really great things about this set. That it is the most rounded set. It can become super tanky (even on a brute). That it is a late bloomer (extreme endurance issues). Etc etc. I have actually seen quite a few posts in the tank section about it. Not so much here in the brute section though? Why is that? I must be missing something? Super Strength - Footstomp, Knockout Blow, and endless Rage (my builds on Beta). The set does not disappoint lol... I present you the build I have made, tested and currently altering and changing to try and make it better (on Beta). I only test on +4/x8 with anything I try or build. I think many would disagree with this. And although I may die every time with some builds I probably messed up, I still feel like I push them to the absolute extreme to really get a good vibe on how strong they play. Btw, one last plug for the Fire/Rad - it crushed everything, all enemy types and a good portion of solo'able AV's with ease. Some enemy groups just took longer then others (carnies...) to defeat. I am finding with my Dark build my health is REALLY yoyo'ing. I can stay up, but damn do I need to really really hit that heal as soon as its up. Footstomps constantly, endless Rage, Tons of damage (I like that dark has the damage aura), but just mediocre in the survive-ability department. Surprisingly enough even with my not so amazing building skills, no major issues with Endurance. So I am reaching out again, to find out if anyone can suggest some good changes, or suggestions. Maybe some insight into Dark Armor a bit. Should I just roll Super Strength with another more powerful armor and stop dreaming that Dark is going to perform better?   5. All really great points, mentally I am logging every last piece of great advice from you all (and thank you Frostweaver for your input as well). Hyperstrike, my ultimate goal with this build was to try and create a solid, well rounded brute for solo play. Probably some team thrown in there as well, but I'm always online at random hours and have difficult times finding people to play with at 50. My current most played character is a plant/fire permadom, and although I enjoy it a ton, there is a big portion of content (end game especially) I am finding myself worried to step into, or that is just too much and overwhelming to tackle solo. On live, my main, most played decked out toon was a Dark/Elec brute, and I loved feeling like I could walk into almost any group of enemies and not have to particularly worry. I was attempting to do the same with this build, or surpass that.
  6. This is why I love this game and the community! It is also amazing how two people can come up with two separate amazing builds, which are unique each in their own way. Hyperstrike I really like how your build stays true to how mine is set up. It's really nice to see the resistance turned up across the board (and I don't mind S/L reduced slightly). I checked with both Cardiac on and off and dont seem to see much of a difference (which is a good thing, I always consider Incarnates a nice bonus to hopefully an already solid build). I also really appreciate your advice on Kick over Punch. That is an extremely useful tip considering Ive never put thought into it for the rest of my characters. You basically did what I was hoping for, you took my build and corrected it, improved it, and accomplished what I was going for originally (Im still learning a lot about building properly). Darkir I really like your build as well. Its a fairly large difference too and you went the Pyre Mastery route. Let me set something straight, I hate Fire Breath, the animation is long, and its not much output for whats invested. But, I was also trying to get some more AoE. Fireball really solves that issue lol. So if you didn't need the two Siphon Insights in Beta Decay, where would u put those two slots elsewhere? Did you take Super Speed just for the Blessing of Zephyr +to ranged? I am always partial to Super jump (if I ever take a travel power and a lot of times I actually don't). I get what you mean with Meltdown, I do know its sort of a not so important ability. I usually only include it because of the extra umph here and there. I really like how you got the ranged defense up and still managed respectable resistances. Thank you both again and I welcome any other suggestions. You both not only fixed my build, but exceeded it immensely!
  7. I'd like to start off by saying, in my personal opinion (I know this is subjective) it is not particularly cheap to fully IO out a toon. So rather then me guessing, or wondering, or screwing up multiple times and continuously purchasing items to make up for the mistakes......I would much rather ask the homecoming community for input. You ALL are just great players that invest so much time into every last detail. It's amazing. The amount of useful information all of you that do regularly post (usually to help other's) is fantastic. Can't stress enough how great of a community this game still has after all of these years. And like most of you, I've been around since the start. I was much younger, and had a lot more free time lol. I've also noticed Fire Melee and Radiation Armor get a lot of love. And I agree with that. Radiation especially has become one of my favorite set's in the game. I have built many characters around it now. So I present one of a few different variations of this build. Pick it apart, tell me it sucks, tell me what Ive missed, tell me what can be improved, don't hold back. Couple points I should make: -I know it's not soft capped to S/L resistance. That was intentional to try and spread out some improvement on weaker link areas. It is still at 86.4%, would that be noticeable? -Looking at it, it would seem I have really limited the amount of offensive type abilities. But I'm thinking with the global recharge bonus' maybe...thats not so bad? Do you have a lot of experience with Fire Melee and do you find it flows fairly well without having to take a ton of the abilities? -Speaking of global recharge, what the hell.....he only has one recharge in hasten!? I know....it was another slot I needed. And believe me, I would never do that typically but, I didn't know where else to pull it from. Do you have a better suggestion? Hell, I am willing to change up anything, any suggestion is super welcomed! -I always focus on melee positional defense. I know there is other ways to go about it, that is just always what I pick. Again, any suggestions are welcome. -I am willing to spend a lot, if the build is worth spending the amount on. Someone maybe has a really strong case for a different primary instead of Fire melee.   8. Ive been wondering that same thing, so I made this build. I figured, combine some of Dark's -to hit with a focus on ranged/melee defense. Could potentially be some great survivability. Agreed, the combo does seem to have a lot of holds, Mag 3 at that. Lots of heals as well. I also got up to 100% recharge, not the highest, but not bad either.
