  1. Definitely making a copy of this! And yes, I plan to take Physical Perfection.
  2. Wow, that chart really makes me rethink some things. Looks like Invul's Psionic hole (for example) maybe isn't so bad after all!
  3. Great suggestion about the "Presence" pool...and that would fit great thematically with a Dark Armor build! Your 1:2 ratio approach sounds like a great rule of thumb! Thanks!! (btw, you have "35 level 50's" and refer to yourself as a "newb"! lol! Love it! 😉
  4. Well said! And thanks everyone for clarifying! One follow-up question...which would be more common--psionic or toxic? or would they be about the same?
  5. I really appreciate all the input and expertise here! After digesting tons of info, one thing I thought it might help me to know as I finalize my choice of secondary (armor)... What damage types are the most important to have resistance/defense for? In other words, if I'm going to have a "hole" is it better to have it with some damage types instead of others? Of course, I assume that smashing and lethal are obviously important, but what about after that?
  6. Thanks Ironblade! #5 is good to know!
  7. Thanks for the advice...and #1 definitely makes sense.
  8. Will definitely be copying this for future reference! Thanks!
  9. Thanks much, especially for clarifying #6!
  10. Thanks for the great tips...especially on #3!
  11. LOL! Love this! Oh, the memories!
  12. Thanks for the tips! This makes a lot of sense...and helps to take some of the pressure off, really...knowing that weaknesses and "holes" are part of the game. I've been in so many games where...if you didn't pick the right class or have the right build, you weren't wanted on teams. I'm getting the feel that it's not that way here...that you really are free to play what you like...and are still welcomed! Awesome! Anyway, I think I finally picked out weap/armor/AT, and I started a new thread with some questions that came up as I was working on it.
  13. About a week ago, someone here pointed me to Mid's Hero Builder...and I've been spending hours on it!,...as well as reading tons of posts! Anyway, I'm starting to get a good idea of the archetype and build I want to develop...a staff/dark armor Brute. However, I've had several questions come to mind. I'm guessing that any experienced player could probably answer them all easily, but would love any input! 1. For the build I have in mind, I'd like to skip taking taunt and play him more like a durable scrapper. Is that ok? ...or will most people I team with expect me to assume the tank role, especially when a tanker is not present? 2. Is "Hasten" considered a must-have for all archetypes? 3. With my current build (which is just the powers I chose...no enhancements yet), it shows my endo usage to be 2.12. Is this a good place to be before slotting any enhancements? I've heard (and can see) that dark armor is a real endo hog, but with these numbers, can I expect to get my endo under control so that it won't be a worry? 4. Regarding question #3, is there a formula or "sweet spot" for calculating where you should be with endo usage? 5. For filling my Knockback hole....should I rely on enhancements or take Acrobatics? (currently I'm planning on relying on enhancements) 6. Is there a way to see exactly how much the Form of Soul/Mind/Body affects my stats on Mid's? When I clicked on them, it didn't seem to make any impact on the numbers...even when I turn on "Combo level 3" and turn on one of the Forms. Thanks in advance for any answers/advice!!
  14. Thanks so much, Grouchy! That helped alot! Here is the revised chart. I hope it helps someone. (By the way...this numbers come from using a Brute as the AT.) CoH Armor Chart.docx
  15. I've heard some others (besides me) ask about a comparison chart of armor sets, but I've also heard some suggest that such a chart would not really be that helpful. I'm pretty new to Homecoming, so after someone recently pointed me to Mid's Hero Builder (big thanks to that person), I thought I would make a chart for myself. I like to see lots of numbers at a glance, and in a table format. You'll quickly notice that I have not included all the armor types....only the ones I'm actually considering. So yes, I made it for me....but thought I would share it in case there are any other new/returning players who would enjoy seeing it. Note 1 = The top row for each set is the numbers for defense. The bottom row is the resistance numbers. Also, all numbers are with no enhancements. Note 2 = At the bottom I was going to list the numbers for extra pool skills, but for some reason, the numbers did not show up in Mid's (except for Tough and Weave)...that is, they did not impact the totals on the totals chart. If someone knows these numbers, or can tell me why they don't show up on Mid's, that info would be greatly appreciated! Note 3 = If any of the more knowledgeable players find a mistake, feel free to point it out! :) ADDENEDUM -- I'm going back into Mid's, and some of the totals are showing different numbers...so maybe I had something extra clicked on....not sure. I've never posted a chart like, and maybe I'm out of my league, lol. Oh well, if I need to pull this thing down, just say so! It won't hurt my feelings. REWORKING THIS CHART...Will post the (hopefully) corrected version soon.
  16. So much great input / advice! I really appreciate you guys taking the time to share!
  17. Hi all! I'm a returning player who has just recently discovered Homecoming! I'm thrilled that this game has been resurrected and am looking forward to jumping in. So, as I have been dabbling a bit with all the new options available in creating a toon, I found myself wondering about two things, and would greatly appreciate any assistance / guidance on these... 1. In many MMO's that I've played, I've found that...when it comes to endgame content / raids / etc., that certain classes are desired and some are not. Is it the same here? For example...the sentinel. This AT sounds very fun to me, but since it doesn't seem to deal near the damage that a blaster would...perhaps it would not be desired in groups / raids, etc. Is this the case? 2. I'm very intrigued by the wide variety of options...specifically the different armor sets. I'm leaning toward leveling a brute, and am wondering if there exists anywhere a comparison table that lists the amount of resistance, defense, endo regen, etc. that each set offers? I've read some posts offering chunks of info on this, but would love to see a table that lists all of it. If there isn't one, is there a way for me to observe/collect this data on each armor set without leveling a toon all the way to 50 first?
