  1. ~6% resistances come from one application of the Superior Might of the Tanker proc, which can also stack multiple times in game but is base one stack in mids.  Are you hitting an enemy in game with the power that has the proc in it and watching your resist numbers?  Usually that power in mids is considered "on" for purposes of resist numbers, you can click the button on the power to toggle it off to see the numbers without the proc active.

     

    EDIT:  I checked both builds in my mids install.  The problem seems to be solved by removing the ATO proc on the build and replacing it again, it then shows the 6% more resists, at least in my mids.  For whatever reason using the button to activate the proc doesn't seem to work on one of the builds until I do this. This could just be an issue from my mids though, you'd have to reproduce it on your end for this to be the case.  I could be misreading the problem though, it's late!

  2. Invuln has better resists and a huge heal, lower defense debuff resistance and a psi damage hole that can be fixed with IO's, doesn't offer much in the way of offense. Slightly endurance intensive. Works very well from low levels on up.

     

    Shield has better damage with AAO and Shield Charge, better defense debuff resistance, but lower overall resists and no heal.  Click mez protection is a pain in the butt but offers more DDR.  Endurance intensive, blooms a little later and really needs IO sets.

     

    Invuln is "easier" overall.

    Savage has "slow" damage because it relies on damage over time and can feel a little anemic, especially vs. single targets, and there's not much to be done about it other than sacrificing survivability for damage% procs. Your AoE should feel pretty decent, though. This is just one of the pitfalls of the set, it really needs a pass by the dev team to fix the problems with Hemo and maybe some of the other powers.  Still, fun set, neat animations, and fits a lot of themes so I still happen to like it in spite of the flaws.

    Cloak of Fear is fine, but oppressive gloom costs less to run and is more effective at mitigation and eclipses Cloak of Fear, which is endurance expensive and needs heavy slotting for the most benefit (Oppressive Gloom can run on a single accuracy enhancement and still be effective and endurance efficient).  Most of the time you just don't need both, but that doesn't mean if you like the power you have to skip one, you can always take them both and work your build around that.

     

    Through my many, many dark armor builds I've never found Cloak of Fear particularly useful and almost always end up respeccing out of it in favor of just running Oppressive Gloom, but you can always test this for yourself and see if it's worth the extra endurance and slots to run (test server probably still gives you freebies to immediate level 50 + free enhancements so you can try anything there and see if you like it). Running both will certainly give you more mitigation, but how much more and how much actual survival difference you will see in play is the thing to look out for.

     

    With most powers, if you haven't played with them yet it's always a good idea to at least try them yourself and use up some respecs if you have to (respecs are plentiful and easy to get), instead of just taking someone's word for it. You might be surprised and really like a power that is often skipped by other people, and I suggest this even though I personally find Cloak of Fear pretty lackluster.

Particle Shielding is your go-to mitigation, you get that at 28, you're almost there so keep at it, with proper slotting Particle Shielding will be up basically all the time, use it a lot and you'll survive much better.  Resist based sets are fine on stalkers but not optimal, they can still be built to solo +4x8 content.  I challenge the notion that because Rad Armor has high resists it is a resist based set, it is definitely a layered mitigation set and therefore you should rely on your heal/regen/absorb to do some of the work rather than relying on the passive toggled resists to do all the heavy lifting.

     

    You might want to replace one of your recharge IO's in Build Up into the Gaussian's proc, it's pretty sick combined with your ATO proc.

     

    To echo an earlier post I made somewhere else:

    Stalker's Guile proc should go into Assassin's Strike, this is the only reasonable place for it.  It's up to you if you want to put the rest of the set there, depends on your set bonus needs or if you want to add more procs to your AS.

     

    Assassin's Mark you can get away with putting just about anywhere, I tend to pick an attack that doesn't have a more optimal slotting opportunity (for example if you used the purple set for another same type attack and don't have something else comparable to put there but need the recharge for the build). An easy solution is to put Assassin's Mark into your first attack or something like that.

    Here's a (expensive) savage/dark brute build to tide you over until you find something else you like better. Softcap S/L defense, good resists, enough recharge and procs in all the right places, endurance efficient.  Built for musculature alpha / Ageless Radial destiny (or barrier if you prefer). This will do great in most content including exemplar if you buy your enhancements attuned from the AH (PVP IO's and purple IO's should not be attuned though so buy them normal, but you can +5 boost some of them if you want). You could switch the Blisterings in Vicious to Hecatombs if you just want more recharge, as melee defense will still be softcapped though you'll lose S/L softcap, and this would also improve the accuracy of a couple powers. If accuracy is a concern (it probably shouldn't be, this is good enough), you can switch Assault for Tactics and put a Cytoskeleton hamidon enhancement in it, or you could switch a slot somewhere for a Kismet +Acc unique.

    It's purely a set mule, although there are benefits to running it (particularly when you're in a team) for the build up proc or fighting enemies with blind for the perception. There are plenty of ways to rebuild it without six slot tactics, I just preferred it over say, slotting more five-six piece winter IO's or something instead. The primary function of tactics isn't necessary with the accuracy already in the build and with soul drain, short of vs. debuffs (another use for it).

    I'm not running this combination right now (probably six months since I built DM/SD) but if I were going to rework the build from this thread it would probably look something like this, which you can reference to help your own build strategy. This is a more rounded / overall "tougher" build with some additional resistance. Endurance heavy like most shield builds until incarnate fix (ageless destiny or cardiac alpha will tend to fix all end problems, up to you which route you go, I tend to try musculature radial first and then decide if I want to switch, cardiac is actually really solid for this powerset combination too but damage is what I always try for first). Some IO's are boosted to +5 so that's something to watch for (LOTG Def/End in particular).

    I get these kinds of tells all the time on a variety of alts that I play, or similarly "Hey! Nice bio!" or both (humblebrag?!!). There is a line that gets crossed beyond that though, I've often wandered through pocket D just trying to visit Null the Gull or the P2W vendor and gotten tells that first say they like how my character is bio/outfit and second how their character would (with a highly suggestive wording) react or act around my character. At that point I either just say Thanks or I don't say anything and I move along as quickly as possible. The difference is in the suggestive nature, most of the time I am super happy to receive a positive tell about my creative use of the costume editor or the 1023 word bio and I almost always make a note about how someone said something nice and so they end up with stars over their heads. Adding some suggestive language along with that usually sours me to any further interaction, though. Not that I don't want people to do their thing, it's just not something I find draws me in as a first impression, and it's just a line that when crossed means I probably won't have anything to do with that person at that point in time.

     

    I usually don't bother putting someone on ignore for that, or even putting a negative note about them, because the account system means that they can just switch to an alt account and take their shot again.  It's never been aggressive enough so far to warrant needing a report either.  Admittedly I don't usually play at peak times though, so my experience might be significantly different from others.

     

    I take these kinds of tells within context of City of Heroes, so for me "Hey! Nice outfit!" is 100% appropriate for that context to say to someone.  Outside of that context it would need to be reevaluated though.

    Yeah, it's not so bad, I usually leave it on too. Sometimes (most of the time) there are just some nice people having nice conversations about fun things related to the game or media that relates to the game, like I think the channel is meant for. Not sure about other servers but it seems pretty "fine" on Everlasting.

It feels like I've joined a thousand of your teams throughout the time HC has been up for hunting GM's, and they've all run really smoothly and at a time of day when there aren't a lot of people around, too. Thanks for dealing with all of the people who aren't respectful or feel entitled to have it their way while still running successful leagues and teams, you set them up like a pro and to me you're certainly a fixture that I appreciate on the server I play on. I know it doesn't cancel out you being treated poorly by some but I hope you know that your leadership is appreciated either way by the rest of us.

I usually run the 50+4 content once on each character and then never look back, although I'll do Hamidon just as habit several times.  I don't see this as a problem, either you can put together teams that want to play the way you want to play, or there isn't enough interest in those teams and there's nothing that can be done about it.  I too would love it if everyone wanted to play the game the way I want to play the game, but I realize that isn't going to happen, so I don't put a lot of energy into fretting about it. I personally like playing strict role teams in low level content at high difficulty with less than a full team (4 is the best team size!), but that only suits a small audience of people, so I just enjoy it when it happens and I find what fun I can in the other stuff in between.

     

    For knockback, I've always been pro-knockback with the caveat that this only applies while not damaging other player's enjoyment of the game or hampering progress.  For the first time in at least a year this week I ran into a player with no regard for the team, knocking back huge swaths of enemies currently engaged in multiple AoE patches or attacks from the rest of the team. Just having that one bad experience has refreshed my memory of why I also empathize with players who have disdain for KB.  Five players quit the team before it disbanded due to not enough players to handle the mission. I maintain my position that KB isn't a bad thing, but I get the other side more acutely with just that refresher course on why. This is one of those two-sided issues that isn't really two sided; there are myriad shades in between that are more accurate depictions, but people only like to argue from the most extreme points rather than from a reasonable middle ground.

     

    Players are real life people, so expect real life interactions from those real life people.  They aren't scenery in your video game, they're people.  I get that people can be frustrating, but that isn't the game's issue, that's just people. Anywhere you go you're going to find it, and anything on the internet enhances it into something more dramatic.

     

    It's just like life, if you don't want to solo, you're going to have to put up with some stuff.

  14. There aren't any combinations of powersets that won't be able to do all of the content in the game currently within reason. I wouldn't consider any powerset combination "outdated".

     

    Elec/Shield is still a pretty durable AoE damage combination. It lacks in single target damage and can be endurance heavy without proper attention. It statistically works better on stalkers because they gain a better single target attack and critical damage among other perks, but this doesn't make the Brute version bad, it just means that stalker version has more incentives.

     

    With a proper build these sets will function very well together on a Brute, I wouldn't worry about it being an outdated pairing. I would probably look for some builds that are more current, however.

    You could potentially use anything else, though you'll probably lose some recharge due to not getting the extra luck of the gambler out of Evasive Maneuvers unless you plug in some other defense set mule powers.  I don't think 7.5% recharge is going to break anything though, as long as you take combat jumping to replace one of the flight powers.

    Nope.  Irradiated Ground should have a bunch of procs in it otherwise it's just an end hog without the big payoff, so keep doing what you're doing unless you desperately need set bonuses there.  It is the pseudopet that can get an extra proc chance so it's worth it, much like putting procs in burn can give you more than one chance to proc.  While you can safely use burn without procs and still do a lot of damage, I notice a big dropoff in damage from Irradiated Ground when slotted with just regular enhancement.

     

    This is easy to test for yourself though, some unslotters which are cheap or a trip to the test server can help you figure out what's right for you, if you're skeptical.

    The answer to your question is that there is no one-size-fits-all slotting solutionTo give an accurate and helpful analysis of what to slot and where, you need a build reference from which to work. Every build has different needs. For any good advice you'll need to post the build so that it can be analyzed for weakness, and then the slots can be filled with something to further the build goals or they can be moved to better places for optimization.

     

    Otherwise just throw some performance shifter set pieces in there, if you don't want an actual answer and won't post the build then literally any set will be just as useful on blind advice.
