  2. Just a question: is there a reasoning why the Epic Ice Pet can fly but the Controller/Dominator Pet cannot? I still wish we could get a Pet-fly power, or Fly from the Fly Pool automatically also applying to Pets... (which would give it an edge over Mystic Flight... *sadpanda*
  5. I am very partial to an Ice Blast + Dark Miasma. With Ice Blast you can hold bosses quite easily and Dark Miasma is just a swiss army knife of support... heals, buffs, debuffs, and at T9 you get Fluffy 👻 to keep you company. Take Fire Epic to have decent resist against every type of damage... Take Sorcerer Pool for Rune of Protection to get out of the occasional mezz or oh-sh**-situation. Tar Patch + 2* Ice Rains = dead piles of mobs Use Howling Twilight as a crazy good AoE stun (ignore the rezz part... we don't care for solo). Ice/Dark Corruptor is a Blaster+Controller rolled into 1.
  6. Is Dark Miasma considered top or not? I do see them as often as I see Poison... which is not very often. I love it... every single power can be used for multiple things... Howling Twilight is a _brutal_ CC power, when used offensively... The heal has neat debuffs added, too... Also.. I just love Fluffy (Dark Servant)... his AI is actually good (he cast 1 ranged and then runs straight into the enemy pack where his pbaoe aura will debuff mobs into oblivion). Put Enflame from Sorcery on him and he'll also be great dps. Max his -tohit with enhancements, he can put out silly levels of tohit debuff.
  7. To answer the OP's question Any toon that is built with decent survival/mezz-protection + dps... Great for the job: MM work nicely, as do Sentinels/Scrappers/Stalkers, ... Kheldians and VEAT are also great candidates here Could do the job (really depends on sets and spec): Corruptors/Offenders possibly (most lack mezz protection vs Crey/... for example), Blasters hopefully (though most just charge right after the Tank to "blow stuff up"), Dominators maybe (if they already are perma-dom'ed=mezz-protection and have good dps, so most likely only higher levels) Really bad: Controllers don't have the dps (unless very specific builds), by the time they finish killing the stray leftovers, the team is already 3 packs further down the corridor. Defenders don't have the mezz-protection and don't have enough dps (except Offenders... see Corruptors) ________________________ I did not mention Brutes and Tanks because ideally - in case of 2 or more of them on a team - they should be leapfrogging and staying till stuff is dead-dead... rinse repeat... in an ideal world...
  8. Character name: Spectral Mark Global: @Sp3ctr4l Base or SG Name: Spectrals (1 person multi-use storage/crafting place; with some friends who use it as a Hub) Shard: Excelsior Passcode: SPECTRALS-23761 Item Count: >2k Category for Contest: Utility under 7k Other associated contributors: Dacy's fantastic discord people with nifty ideas and awe inspiring creativity Additional Info / Must-See Areas of Note: - flying ship can be entered - map fully "functional" - all services present, some are well hidden (more or less, I know the judges will find them eventually 😄 ) - as all my toons fly: flying makes it a lot easier to get around (though walking is quite doable)...
  9. @UltraAlt Using longer passwords with words is safer than shorter passwords with random letters+numbers+symbols that nobody can remember. Simply due to the exponential nature of that equation... https://xkcd.com/936/ Hence why I insisted on 15 chars minimum. And why I suggested tricks like S->$ or E->€ ... Humans can remember these passwords Of course 15 random letters+numbers+symbols would be best "in theory". In reality, they are a pain to type and users get frustrated with the entire password nightmare to begin with and "we" end up with passwords on post-it or in Excel/Word/... files that are not secured... At least the post-it/files should be replaced with some Password Vault thing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_password_managers). With the Password Vault we go back to: you need at least one good and strong password... 8 chars is clearly known by all Cybersec people to be "not nearly enough"... 8 char can be broken in seconds via brute-force/rainbow tables/... Writing the password to the password vault on a post-it or file is equally unsafe... It's about convincing users to have longer passwords and make those less painful... or (what the cybersec industry is currently pushing) passwordless MFA (Biometrics + Token). But password-less MFA means upgrading a long list of legacy software. And until then we'd want to convince users to be safe instead of being annoyed&lazy. https://www.isaca.org/resources/isaca-journal/issues/2019/volume-1/nists-new-password-rule-book-updated-guidelines-offer-benefits-and-risk
  10. Another big tip about passwords that people tend to overlook: length of password, aka more characters... 8 characters is NOT enough... but having 15-18 or even more makes it exponentially harder to break (or brute-force as it is properly called). And as super long passwords and massively complex mixes of symbols, letters and numbers are impossible for humans to remember without writing them down ==> use passphrases that is 3-4 words with at least 15 characters in total(because "you & me" kinda defeats the purpose...) like "Pacific Soccer 100%" Pick words that you neither love nor hate (and cannot be guessed through your social media accounts: kid/pet names, holidays, childhood places) If you speak multiple languages: mix it up 😎 If you feel comfortable with Freakshow lingo: us3 L33t b3c4u$3 1t'$ cººl & tr€ndy For each single character you add to your passwords, you make the task exponentially more difficult for the criminals out there... 12 should be minimum... 15 is good... 20+ you're a BEAST 🥳 by the way @Homecoming Staff: what is the MAX length of passwords that the server/software can technically handle? (and what happens if you use a password that's longer? 😇 hihi, no need to answer this second question 😉)
  12. With groupfly they seem to be able to keep up a little easier...😇 now to have a petfly or "disable for teammembers that don't want it".... and especially: disable for other peoples pets that might not want it because rebuffing MM pets can only work while pets are on the floor
  13. Bonjour, voici un lien vers le discord Vigilance qui ne devrait pas expirer... https://discord.gg/mu3XCxjtM7 (Les liens discord ont maintenant tendance à expirer au bout de 7 jours, sauf si on modifie certaines configurations.)
  14. We know that the Fighting Pool, Speed Pool, Leaping, Leadership and a bunch of other get taken a lot... Are there statistics about what pools never get taken in level 50 builds...? could be interesting to check out and maybe fix that by making other pools more attractive? Presence, Experimentation and Force of Will could maybe be candidates for this? Or maybe they can be merged with other pools to make those less attractive pools more attractive? Like merging Presence with Force of Will and merging Experimentation with Medicine? It could look something like this? Experimental Medicine 1 Toxic Dart + Experimental Injection (foe) Ranged, Light DMG(Lethal), High(Toxic), -DMG(Foe, All), -Rech(Foe), -ToHit(Foe) 1 Injection + Experimental Injection (ally) Ranged, Ally +Regeneration, +Recovery, +Res(Status) 4 Speed of Sound Toggle: Self +Speed, (Special) > Jaunt Click, Self Teleport 14 Aid Self + Field Medic Self, Heal, +Res(Stun), +EndGain(Synergy), Special 20 Adrenal Booster Self, +To Hit, +Recharge, +Damage, +Special Presence + Force of Will 1 Weaken Resolve + Pacify Ranged, Foe -Resist, -Defense, -To Hit, Placate (Foe) 1 Project Will, Provoke Targeted AoE, Light DMG(Psionic), Taunt (Foe) 4 Mighty Leap Toggle: Self Long Jump, (Special) > Takeoff PBAoE Melee, Self +Jump, Foe Knockdown 14 Wall of Force + Invoke Panic Ranged Cone, Minor DMG(Psionic/Smashing), Fear (Foe) 20 Unleash Potential + Unrelenting Self, +Regen, +Defense, +Rech, +Rec, Self Resurrect (Special) used to be (for reference): Self, +Regen, +Recovery, +Defense Self, Heal over Time, +DMG(All), +Rech, +Rec, Self Resurrect (Special)
  15. As others said: it was removed by the devs with page 4. (No need to beat a dead horse... again... for the 100th time...) A side info that has a tendency to get lost over this removal: most content that used to give Empyreans (like ITrials) now automagically also (on top) provides the corresponding amount of reward merits you would have gotten from converting...
  16. So... selfish means not taking Leadership pool... that is a very one-sided view of the equation, imho. First off, you can only have 4 pools total... many will argue about certain pools being mandatory (haste, tough+weave, ...) - though this is really a preference... some will say combatjump+acrobatic is a must for support ATs. Personally I would not enjoy running a dominator without perma-haste ( = perma-dom) as well as tough+weave. In the same vein, having tough+weave on a Blaster is pretty much the only way, if you don't want to make rise of the phoenix part of your attack rotation (I hate face-planting over and over... not fun for me). I love playing Defenders/Corrupters/Controllers... so I usually bring quite a bit to the team... however, unless I need Maneuvers for LotG, I will usually favor Sorcery for the Spirit Ward... which I just looooove, imho vastly underrated skill (absorb is a huge survivability boost on whomever you buff with this... put it on your tank in 4star-ITF, love it). I do have Increase Density on my Kinetics but you can be sure I will not cast the status-protection on each team member every minute, over and over and over on 2-3 hour TFs... not going to happen: my brain would melt after 30-45 minutes... now we could argue about clearmind/increasedensity/xxx becoming a group status protection to compensate for Faraday Cage from Electric Support... but that is a discussion you will have to take up with the devs (I am pessimistic about whether this will happen). And people saying "zzzz" to be given that status-protection buff on demand: as a Kin or any Support AT, I'm usually one of the first to get CCed by mob AOE mezz... so we're back to Sorcery for Rune of Protection... so I get my toggles back and can buff/debuff/heal/... Making yet another pool "mandatory" through team pressure (and make people feel bad for not being "teamfriendly") will push the FOTM/cookie-cutter even more... you can have a max of 4 pools... making 3 pools (sometimes 4) mandatory means you take away variety. Are there statistics about what pools never get taken in level 50 builds...? could be interesting to check out and maybe fix that by making other pools more attractive? If... if... in an imaginary world where I can take more pools... I'd be very interested in taking Experimental Injection from the Experimentation Pool ... on my toons with their own status protection toggles (tanks/stalkers/VEAT/...) and then on-demand (say "zzz") buff the squishies that get mezzed by mobs... yes, the MAG depends on the AT using the power, but it lasts for 60 sec much like all the other status protection buffs... but as an AT that is hard to mezz, you can actually de-mezz your fellow teammates when mobs throw around aoe mezzes like crazy (Crey, Longbow, Carnies, ...)
  17. Allowing Emp -> Prism would be a severe slap in the Emp->Reward people's face... Farmers would be allowed to farm costumes like crazy? Or the currency for it and make huge profits? Tbh, at this point I'm tempted to plead with the Devs to - either allow Emps to become fully tradeable (because their purpose has become meh outside T3/T4 Incarnating and there is only some much Emps you need for that) and maybe limit how you can get them - or make Emps completely Toon-bound to stop the "slot your new freshly farmed toon to T4" and make them more widely available through any type of content (mission arcs, ...) Some people still seem to think we'll get new Incarnate Stuff that will cost Emps... I really don't think this will ever happen... new stuff is always hidden behind new currencies (every game out there in the world)... and also the reason why Emp -> Prism is highly unlikely to ever happen... just like buying costumes with Emps is highly unlikely... it would open a ginormous can of worms... 😉
  18. Ok, I tried reading up on the barrier squids, as these really seem to be key to do this HM-ITF (the rest can be done with try&error, this part has to be done with enough understanding of the mechanic, if dps of the team is rather low) From City of Data: all 4 barrier squids do: -10000% Confused, Afraid, Terrorized, Held, Immobilized, Stunned, Sleep, OnlyAffectsSelf (all affected targets) for 1.25s my reading of this is: the Squids are way easier to mezz than your typical EB... so maybe mag 6 is not needed on these guys? but why do they blast even when confused (the ray changed and it had the confuse-effect-pink-spots in it's maw, yet nuked me like it did not care...) the red/yellow/blue barrier squids do: -33.33% Regeneration (all affected targets) for 1.25s +1000% Damage Resistance (All) (all affected targets) for 1.25s the green barrier squid does: -50% Regeneration (all affected targets) for 1.25s (so a bit more than the 3 others...) +1000% Damage Resistance (All) (all affected targets) for 1.25s if (source>cur.kConfused <= 0) && (source>cur.kHeld <= 0) && (source>cur.kIntangible <= 0) && (source>cur.kOnlyAffectsSelf <= 0) && (source>cur.kSleep <= 0) && (source>cur.kTerrorized <= 0) sooo.... If you use any confuse/sleep/fear/hold/phase powers on the Green (mag >0), the damage immunity on romi goes away, but the -50% regeneration stays... stun does _not_ work (a Dev posted about that: too many meleeAT have stuns in their attacks... so stun got excluded) but since these squids are EB, you still need to stack enough +mag (6?) -> how much mag needed for the ray? -> can squids nuke you even with 6+ mag? (I'm quite sure I had 6+ mag and it was still nuking me...) My takeaway: everybody should take out "their color-squid" at the same time to maximise the -regen from barriers... (2 people designated for each squid?) A Dark-Melee with Touch of Fear does terrorize... and will have a waaay easier time surviving the green squid's happy nuke-while-mezzed, as dark-melee ATs are a lot less squishy than your typical CC-ATs My conclusion: the fact that you only get a -50% regen out of mezzing the green Squid... I feel like killing it and getting back to romi is a better time-investment, considering the CCing teammember will likely be spending at least 50% of his time keeping magnitudes stacked on the Squid...
  19. Thank you for this guide start, I'd be interested to see it become updated... My little input from 2-star/rugged/vicious: General Tanks: expect lots of neg-energy damage from enemies... and fire/cold from colossi... if you are not resist capped on these, you're in trouble. Expect this to take 2+ hours on non-optimized and discovery teams, likely 3+ hours on pug... Hostless - the hold applied on the player/victim during the countdown is mag >200 for the first 2 sec, then mag 120..., no breaking out with insp or clarion... or you need lots... so having 2-3 hostless taking over people can seriously screw a group of people (don't aggro more than you can handle) - we decided the best strategy to be: the hostless victim targets his nictus, everybody else click the player/victim and target through the player... fast & easy take-down... when we see "xyz" hostless red warning on screen everybody immediately starts dps-ing that hostless! works like a charm, even without voice chat - there is a very short 1 second window to get away from the "purple fx coming out of dead enemy" before the hostless grabs the nearest player as his victim... so you can just let the purple mini-geyser-cloud hover over the dead body "forever"... (30ft range or so... I think, eyeballed...) - the hostless can be CCed to break the superhold early and free it's victim, works like a charm Romi in last mission (Barrier Squids) Barrier Squids work much like the tower in the Recluse fight in Miss Lib TF... except... they respawn after a short time (2minutes?)! so you'll have to kill them over and over... so, much like Cathedral of Pain, if your group's dps is not good enough, you will not be able to kill him (unless there is some trick... last time we were kinda able to draw romi away from his squids, but he really did not want to and this seems like it is not intended and I expect Homecoming Devs to fix this if people try too hard to drag romi away) Barrier Squids have colors... Red/Yellow/Blue/Green each color is vulnerable to different things (much like Mitos in Hami)... from memory: blue/sapphire = ranged, red/ruby = aoe, yellow/topaz = melee, green/emerald = CC You can confirm what each needs by reading it's info... The info on the green squid says something about using confuse to "reverse its effect" on romi... I tried... while the beam (squid---romi) changes when the squid has the little confuse effect on him... that squid then proceeded to nuke the hell out of my squishy... so it affects the beam, not their ability to shoot me. Will need more testing to see how this can be improved upon. As the green Squid seems to be responsible for romis regen, it is likely best to take that squid out first... or if you have sb who can CC that squid (and survive the punishment for doing so) and "reverse the effect", then you kill it last... Especially the Squid+Romi fight requires a team that can fill: ranged dps, melee-dps, enough aoe from dps people and CC for the green Squid. To still be tested: Romi will still has his trusted "3 nictus purple-ball friends"... especially the auto-hit one... even on that difficulty (2-star) - can you kill the purple-balls when the barrier squids are up? negative, they are invulnerable - will the death of the purple-ball-nictus trigger the insta-LOS-death (in normal ITF, when romi's nicti die they trigger a mag 30? stun... on 2-star, that turns into a massive LOS-insta-death... (moot as they are invuln) if you are halfway across the map -way beyond the courtyard- and have LOS... it WILL kill you...) on normal ITF the mag-30ish? stun triggers on romi rezz (nictus sacrifice)... hide behind the walls/columns: break line of sight! - can the massive LOS-insta-death be avoided by hiding in a gravity control dimension shift bubble? (that thing basically is a sort of "break LOS"...) Also, great info to be found in below link... wish the knowledge from that beta-thread would get transferred here:
  20. Hi, it is awesome that the Gull can allow people to switch the annoying powers "group-fly", "speed-boost", ... to not affect them. However, when people forget to visit the Gull before starting a long TF/SF/OuroArc/... the Gull wont talk to them. It would be awesome if we could find some way around that limitation... - put that on/off switch in the options much like "prompt team teleport"... - allow the power-switch options of Null even when in TF-mode (but not the alignment switching)... or give Null a sidekick/apprentice with only that part useable in TF-mode? - give people a temp power on the temp bar to switch the effect off/on at will - make the Gull switch an account-wide change instead of toon-only (or even in addition to toon-only), because usually these are a player preference, not specific to just 1-2 toons - make a Gull switch where the owner of the power can make the group-fly a pet-fly-only (my MM has group fly because it boosts robot survivability drastically, can't say for other MM pets...) - allow the Kinetics speed-boost power (and similar powers) as a single target buff or group buff depending on what people prefer... that way the Kin can choose to not buff the haters... Unfortunately some people feel like it should not be their duty to go visit Null to deactivate stuff that annoys them, some people simply forget and then it's too late, the TF started already (and I can totally understand why a Superspeeder would not want to be Kinetics speed boosted in a Citadel TF). Which usually means the person who took the power, is being hated on for buffing the team (speed boost is awesome, imho). I guess what I find really sad about all of this is: some Kinetics I talked to told me they respecced out of speed boost because they were too tired of the hate from pug-mates... some saying "we should not have to visit Gull, you should", "that power is [insert bad language here]", "f###, forgot to visit Gull, stop using that f### speed boost". I personally must admit I never could really bring myself to play a Kin on Homecoming because I've seen some very foul reaction from pug-mates and it reminded me of Live server... and Null did not exist there. I always feel bad for those Kin... damned if you do, damned if you don't...
  21. I know it's rather gimmicky and very niche... but it just seems so wrong... Much of the Water Blast set is treated as not-cold damage for putting out fires of buildings, which seems very counter-intuitive considering the sheer amount of water that set can conjure up... the Ice Blast set is waaaay better at it, though my feeling is they should be roughly the same, or Water Blast should actually be better? Not sure if that's even doable/fixable, as there is no dmg-type "water"...? Engine limitation?
  22. I vanished from this thread as it was derailing too much for my liking, but since your post brings up some really good ideas, here's my +2 cents 😊 I did already craft some alternate slots for certain situations... Hybrid Slot for Tanks: Damage one as well as Melee one (maybe even both Melee ones)... depending on what I need to tank I'll switch before entering the mission/TF/Trial... Interface: Sometimes I want the chance to immob for my Blizzard... sometimes chance to immob sucks in specific situations. Also Degenerative vs Diamagnetic depending on what others on the team might have (easy to see in group window). Incandescence TP... usually only needs the T1, I have that one as soon as I start getting serious about ITrials with that toon. I actually like ITrials and such, but I also don't do those daily 🤪 Ditto, I'm not a big fan of Lores, especially the fat ones (Banished Pantheon, Vanguard, ...)... My first is usually Polar Lights Partial Radial Improved Ally (yes the T3, not T4). Then I might get 1-2 more because "but xyz is totally uber dps lore pets" *sigh* Very very good idea to use Cryonic for Firefighter in Steel... I did not think of that one... 😇 thank you
  23. Many will say keep them for future incarnate content... in... years... My 2 cent: - it is highly unlikely to happen in the first place (powercreep and incarnate stuff still has too many bugs) - if... if, they were to add more incarnate powers, the devs would hide those behind a new currency, not allow people to use empy for it... ever single game out there does it, and homecoming is doing it with Page4 PAPs I've been converting like crazy and dropping all my rewards into ATO, WinterO, receipes... I guess I'm sort of a mostly-selffound-selfequipped altohoic who hates the AH: I go there when I absolutely don't have any other choice. From what I've read every content that dropped Empys will now also (on top) drop an equivalent amount of reward. So... in theory... income will not change. However I am economics-savy enough to know that prices will change quite a bit... I will have to farm a little to basically completely get the AH out of my equation... And that is with Devs/GMs seeding a bunch of things on the AH at fixed prices... or they will have to seed a lot more to keep prices down...
  24. I was just wondering what to do with excess empyreans... I got my answer, thank you everyone who contributed. I guess we can end the derailing here?
  25. Hmm, I think I'm starting to understand... I guess I'm part of the crowd that Seed22 belongs to: we play our toons quite a bit because we enjoy them. I do have 50-60 max-level toons... so it I think I do qualify as a moderate altoholic. It's just: usually my toons are T3-T4 before I even manage to unlock the hybrid slot and I still have Empys to spare. So, I guess the consensus is: Empyreans are like Astrals now... either you have stuff to T4 or they are worthless stuff that accumulates in a corner...
