I also would imagine that quicksand and /or snowstorm would make it easy to dance around with stealth on and attack stunned mobs or unstunned mobs that either can’t see you or can’t move fast enough to catch you. My revised defense is still 40% and I can often click unleash potential or earths embrace if I get into any trouble.
  2. Hum, You are correct that Thunderclap is much maligned but your play style melds with mine nicely. Would I even need thunderclap given my high recharge and use of three other knockdown powers? I was thinking about using Volcanic Gasses more as it can be powerful but I’m not sure if the best way to a lot it. I had heard somewhere that damage procs work great in it but is that true. I also found some slots by not keeping damage procs in Gale. They just don’t seem to hit more often than the 5% minimum so an extra 40 damage every 3rd or 4th activation doesn’t seem worth it. I’m also of the opinion that with all the control and -acc means the typical build idea of soft capping S/L defenses is overkill. So what is a good level 50 attack chain? I’m thinking Freezing rain, stalagmites, and stone cages followed by Wall of force. Put up a lightning bolt and tornado on myself and Then fossilize anything that was missed and seismic smash them until they are dead. Now that I have some damage procs in earthquake and volcanic gasses perhaps I need to build them into my rotation more often. Fissure feels like it is redundant and thunderclap even more so but I will need to look at my actual in game recharges. I don’t think I will ever have the perfect earth/storm controller build but I’m enjoying the journey and that is all that matters. Thanks again for the feedback.

  4. I really like your build ideas and have just made a few minor changes I can share with you and everyone. I will start working my current lvl 23 character towards this build and let you know how it goes. A few changes I made is a took out Tactics and put in Super Speed and moved them around so Super Speed is selected at lvl 4. I also took out the Kismet +acc and moved that slot to the Recovery with Power Transfer: Chance to Heal which may not be really useful as there is plenty of healing in this build already but I couldn't find any better places for that extra slot quickly. Hopefully this build is a little more viable than my low level build has been so far.   5. So here is the build I have been running which is working out great. With Hurricane going I still have all the endurance I need. I was running the Cimmera Nictus TF with a team and got some nice compliments that I was running StormCloud2 the way a stormie should be run. We had a good time. I am already thinking about a respec though as I miss getting up close and personal and wonder if I can run with 40% S/L defense. So first my current build which works very well if you like staying at range and running hurricane. I like that I was able to get Stone Mastery back in as my Epic pool and still have plenty of powers that with procs now do decent damage. So if I can get by with a little less defense which seems likely since most of my attacks have -5% To Hit debuffs I should be able to do more damage while having more HP and a great occasional large heal from Hoarfrost.   6. So I saw this post and decided a dark/atomic blaster looks like a lot of fun so I started one. I made my first build idea and would like some feedback. The biggest question I have it does it make sense to put a lot of damage procs into the build like I have seen others do? If so which powers to proc? I also know I need to focus on a defense type and wonder if 35-40% defense would be enough given all the -accuracy powers in the dark set.   7. Great advice about slotting the chance to heal proc as many times as possible. I think two of those will keep me upright better than putting three power slots into the healing pool. I just lost too much trying to fit them in and a 4 second activation is like missing three attacks so DPS would really suffer. I had Elude and didn’t use it much. When I did I would be on a time because I would have to finish off a group before it crashed. The crash makes me not want it again. I guess I’m more into consistently knowing what I can do versus being Uber for a few minutes and then sucking air and possibly dying during the crash. Still some helpful advice so I appreciate it.
  8. Good reason. Here is one more build without the Presence Power Pool. E/N resistance is only 29% versus your 47% but S/L resistance is one hit away from the 90% cap. I also really like the Soul Mastery Epic pool both for the excellent Gloom ranged attack and Darkest Night toggle that gives -30% damage and -15% to hit along with a nice AOE of negative energy.   9. You are correct of course. This was a list of damage resistance of which Lethal is the most resisted and Fire the least. I still think it makes more sense to have S/L resistance higher than E/N resistance. I just have no facts behind my thought I guess.
  10. I understand how you got the higher E/N resistance, my question was why you thought that was better. I found this useful link that shows that S/L damage is over 25% of all damage while E/N is only about 13%.
  11. Thanks for sharing your build. It has some interesting ideas and I will need to think about using Energy Mastery as the Epic. I went with a more expensive build which gives me higher overall resistance with S/L resist up to 75% before the tanker AT which give 6.7% resist which I put on Thunder Kick so I should get at least another 13% to be near the Tanker resist cap of 90% much of the time. I know I could have much more defense, especially if I had selected Storm Kick but have found that 45% defense is enough for most of what I play. I also have a fast enough recharge rate at 153% that I think I can get away with four main attacks of Thunder Kick, Dragon's Tail, Crane Kick, and Eagles Claw with Ball Lighning and Mu Lightning added in for some range attacks and even some healing chances. I also still have the AOE fear which I just like for crowd control and varienty. I have a claws/SR scrapper that plays well that is built similar to your build. I wonder why your build has higher E/NE resistance than S/L resistance? I tend to use LOG as my defensive sets in order to get my S?L resistance higher.   12. Could you provide me your eat greens macro please? I continue to tweak this build and will share it later. I took out the healing powers but still will likely try to keep in the provoke powers if I can slot some good IOS in them i understand I want DDR to be 95% but am able to get over 50% melee defense without dodge and my DDR is over 100%.
  13. I made several changes with the biggest ones being putting the 4th slot in LoG on three defensive powers which gives me +27% to hit. I then took out some of the Invention accuracies except I kept them in Stalagmites and Gale as those have lower base accuracies and I like to start with them. I left four slots in Stone Cages because as you said it was hard to make them all up somewhere else. I was at about 45% S/L defense before adding the incarnate powers which should work well. I put a the Ragnarok: Chance for Knockdown into Frost Breath which seems like a good idea. I won't need to spam Gale as much as I like to keep stuff in some status that keeps them from hitting me. With Frost Breath up as often as ever 6 seconds Gale is starting to feel redundant. I have never had Spirt Ward but if I can use it on Animate Stone I can see the value to it even when soloing. Speaking of Animate Stone why the two defense slots? He is at an 80% resistance or so already so I always though getting him to 90% with the +10% made more sense than a small amount more of defense. Maybe some slots to save there. Would his Defense Auru for Pets also work on me if I was standing near him? I added in Super Speed as I had no travel power in the build. I will have Ageless Core Epiphany so I can run Super Speed and Hurricane together to herd when I have plenty of endurance. This is getting close and I really like not trying to get both defense and resistance capped as I need to focus more on recharge and control with lots of procs for damage. I look forward to iso g that power as you have it built. That gives some really damage when the procs hit. Questions Why the accuracy in lightning storm which already has 150% accuracy to start? I don’t need it as a third power in the pool so would prefer to skip it and add snow storm or something else that would provide some occasional value. Why the two resist debuff in rain? It has -30% resist debuff to start and the procs only have a 20% chance to hit? Is there any way to get rid of all the slots on stone cages and only keep one or two accuracies in it while still finding a way to get the s\l defense up to almost 45% Great ideas that you had, let me know your additional thoughts.
  15. Thank you very much for all of your time and well written feedback. I’ll check out the builds later tonight. You are correct that I know I need to better focus my goals for this alt. I had a range def build and will decide if I want to focus on procs. I also agree I should give up on farming as I have at least three or four alts that would farm much better. Probably all off them to be honest. back to the drawing board although your builds will probably save me a lot of time and get me a fun respec.
  16. So I am always thinking of new builds and just started Lady Claw, a Super Reflexes/Martial Arts Tanker. I thought it would be bad since I knew I couldn't get real high resistance since Super Reflexes is a defense power but she is turning out to be pretty fun to plan. This end build will allow me to skip enough of the defense powers and still get melee, range, and AOE into the 40% once I hit with Storm Kick for the +10% defense it provides. I also was able to get the Aid Self and the AOE fear into my power choices. I may not keep Aid Self because I hear it can be Meh (not so great). I did like the AOE fear on my other tanker at lower levels but couldn't keep it in the end build. Since I don't need all the passive defensive powers is there any other thoughts of other powers worth getting instead of the three heal powers? I thought about the leadership, sorcery, or force of will pools. I also didnt realize Athletic Run is basically as good or better than combat jumping for height and distance jumping.   17. I won't bore you with my obsessive desire to make Stormcloud2, based of my earth/storm controller from live viable but here is my 21st version. I tend to play like a melee character and have been playing my scrapper, brutes, and tankers while she sits waiting for a full IO build. I have tried many combinations but here is what I want to get out of her. 1. No endurance issues and the ability to let lose with all the great control powers she has. Yes, I want to overkill things 2. Damage would be nice but she will never be a blaster 3. Survivability is key as I know I have low hit points and want to be able to get into some melee action. I have tried the Earth epic pool but feel she needs to max out S/L resistance while still having defenses high to both melee and range 4. Could she ever be a fire or S/L farmer? I would love to see her be able to do +4/8 and have the budget now that I have three farmers to afford most anything she would need 5. I love knockdown and know I have more control then I will ever need. I like to have different play styles for each time I play her. Sometimes I just like pushing stuff around with hurricane. Other times I like getting into melee range to finish off someone that is held. I am not much of a sit back and blast away type of player. So I may have bored you anyway.   18. So my simple question is does it make sense to slot this IO three times? I thought if one in Stamina is good then wouldn't an additional one in Mu Lightning and also in Ball Lightning be even better. However, since it goes off on average 1.5 times a minute am I wasting slots that could be better used with an end reduction or crit? Any help appreciated.

  20. See what you think of this revision where I put Gladiator's Armor's +3 in the empty Tough slot which saved a slot to increase my HPs 7.5%. I then took out Fault, Gloom and Darkest Night and put in Focused Accuracy, Laser Beam Eyes, and Physician Perfection. I don't think I needed Darkest Night which is great at low levels but not so needed after 50. Instead I went for even more regeneration, recovery, and recharge.   21. Thanks for the great advice. I may take out Fault as it is cool but not really needed once I get to 50 and have the other IOs. I didn't realize the ATO adds 6.7% resistance each time it procs. That is a real game change for my build. I need to take a close look it now that I saved it into Mids but want to get a little play time in tonight first. Later
  22. Hi all, looking to respec my lvl 50 tanker now that I have some influence from my farmer alt. Any feedback on this build version. Without incarnates it has that has 36% (45% with incarnate) softcap S/L defense and melee def at 45/53%. Resistance to all but negative 71% and toxic (43%) at 89-90%. Recharge at 143% (212% with ageless) and regen at 427%. While the build could already do pretty much anything I wanted to do I think my slotting of procs is probably not great as I don't know which powers proc well vs those that don't. I took procs out of lightning field as I believe toggles don't proc often. Fault is a cool power for knockdown but may also be a bad place to put to damage procs, if they proc well it may rock though. My only wish is that Tremor didn't have a 3.3 second animation.   23. Thanks for the very helpful feedback. I was wondering if I was focusing too much on defense as I am able to do some +4/8 content with only 32% fire defense already at level 46. I have used your revisions of my build and got my fire defense up to 46%, recharge at 140%, and focused on endurance reduction while also being able to hit both hard and fast. Your comments about wanting to be fast are very helpful. As I level I was more focused on being able to survive but as I get my IO build in and my incarnate abilities I realize that wont be much of an issue. My experience as I level up has been that I am pushing the envelope and don't always survive large mob adds. My future focus will be on just mowing them down fast to maximize influence/hour. I am still not sure I agree with your comments about Cross Punch. What is the fast way to take down elite bosses? I would think I need some more high damage single target attacks. The cone is nice but Cross Punch also has a recharge bonus. Here is my revised build. Any thoughts appreciated.   24. Hi all, I have gotten three alts to 50 and they need influence to finish their builds. I have my Spines/Fire Brute farmer up to level 42 and want to see if anyone has any improvements to this final build. He will be used just for farming and I would like him to be able to do +4/8. Right now is endurance and defense are holding him back. I would like to focus on keeping the build from being too expense though and avoid most purple IO sets for that reason.   25. Thank you for your feedback. It took me awhile to find it in Mids but my DDR is 93% on this new build. I have changed out the set I had in follow-up and spent more time trying to get my health, recovery and reg up. I think I like the idea of putting luck of the gambler into more of my defense powers as it gives me reg, health, accuracy, resistance, and recharge. I also want to see if I can get my melee defense up to 50% as I run at least +1 solo and will go higher as I have started slotting SO 50s into my level 47 build.
