Who does itrials now?  even on excelsior its mostly 8man speed only trials.  gatta be incarnated to get in.

Most folks these days just firefarm for 15 mins when at 10 bars of patrol, or wst/itf

its been well over a year since being on a massive itrial

typing this out made me sad.

mega single server where names are tied to @handles and your @handle is displayed next/bottom of your name with an option to hide others from your view when

On Indom people run them every night. Pretty full leagues and they do a bunch in a row. They're fun, especially on your maxed out toons but then the rewards are pretty pointless.

Join a Hami raid; once per character per day, you can select four Empyrean merits as the completion reward. Then take your 'excess' threads to Luna in Ouroboros and buy some huge, dual, or team inspirations with them.

Yeah I know you can buy the super insp but I'm talking about using them for Incarnates and about all the extra threads your toons collect once you have full incarnates and have no use for them beyond super insp.  Having a back and forth conversion would help you get the right components and make sure of the resources. Give a reason for players to play their 99+ vet toons too.  Also iTrials and DA content would be more worth doing.

Huh? I farm basically every day....

    Does not compute.

You know a person can simultaneously be a farmer and be opposed to farming getting any easier/more lucrative than it already is, right?

Well it looks like you bring up your dislike of people framing in multiple peoples suggestions whether they be about farming or not.  You also get very passive aggressive and rude then act all innocent and "attacked" when someone gives back.  If you have an issue with it go make your own post about it instead of bringing it into everyone else's posts.  Again it's not all about you. 🙂

The fact that you’re asking this question tells me you don’t understand what power creep is (a big thing that happens in small increments - iow, a change being small in no way prevents it from creating power creep).

Let me simplify this for you. I oppose buffs to farmers/farming because farmers/farming clearly need zero buffs. Full stop. I don’t care if you get 2 extra emp merits per hour or 20. The correct answer is zero extra emp merits per hour.

I see from previous discussions you've had that you just have a huge hate for farmers and farming.  So from this point on I'm not even going to give your opinions much credit as this seems spawned from some personal anger you have towards people doing stuff you don't want them to do. People who try to gatekeep games and control how the community plays to make THEIR experience better are toxic. It's not all about you and your experiences.  Please take your unreasonable and selfish anger elsewhere.

Why are you instantly assuming this is only farming oriented?   Sounds more like you PERSONLLY dislike people farming instead of doing stuff you want people to do instead. I know what power creep is, but if something is creeping VERY SLOWLY It's not much of an issue. Not wasting resources and giving players an reason to play their characters more and to complete incarnates?  That's a good thing.  Also like I said previously, I'm SURE this will cause people to do other content more for these reasons too.  Farming gets boring and repetitive so I'm sure people will want to play their full incarnate toons more often doing other stuff to grind threads.

Even if they do farm and grind to get EMP merits from threads..  what does it matter to you?  They can't trade out of their account or sell them so it doesn't effect market.  Your only complaint is literally not wanting people to do stuff you don't enjoy.   This might be shocking to you but this game isn't designed to revolve around what YOU want.   If people want to farm threads to send emp merits to their alts and get a bunch of fully incarnated toons, that's their prerogative and you have no say in that.

Also I'm sure people would be doing other content MORE than farming to get them.  iTrials for example if you get a rare component and break them down to threads that'd be even more EMP merits you can make and email compared to farming for hours. It'd encourage people to do iTrials more often on their completed toons.

It also allows players to manage their resources better.  Say I need 2 emp merits to finish a power but have 40 threads and nothing left to use them on, It allows the player to convert and make the power. Just like you can break down emp merits to threads when needed.

I mean... it's probably incorrect in reference to some players and correct in reference to others.  After all, everything in this topic is just an opinion-  even my very firm belief that the change would have no negative impact and that I'm correct in that belief (which, ultimately, is still just my opinion.  You'd have to actually take the change for a test drive to prove it one way or the other).

Except the orangutan bit I posted.  That's dead on- a statement of pure, objective fact.   😁🤷‍♂️

As someone who farms regularly, this is simply incorrect.

And the main argument against this was that it would reduce the number of folks doing iTrails.

You're not making the suggestion look better with the recent comments above.

Ok tell me how many threads do YOU get from maybe 2 hours of farming? I farm here and there and barely get many threads when I do, it's a slow grind to get threads from drops. (to be specific I'm not talking about the reward dump of threads you get at some vet levels up to vet lvl 99 but getting them as drops from defeating enemies).

Also, if you farm all the time then why wouldn't you want this?  You literally FARM for resources.  Being given an additional resource worth farming should be glorious to you.

If you also love doing iTrials but also farm all the time, then clearly both can exist.  Incarnates is so slow compared to the current pace of the rest of the games that it's a killjoy and most give up working on them half way.   It's like driving at 200MPH in a long race only to have to go 1mph for the last leg of the race.

Also if it reduces the number of people doing iTrials then clearly they never wanted to do them in the first place no?   Personally I'd be more inclined to do iTrials on my full incarnate toons just to get the rewards and break them down and convert into emp merits. Because as is I gain nothing from playing them other than getting inf. If I could be converting threads into emp merits I'd play my other vet 99+ toons more often and be more inclined to do iTrials and DA content for the rewards.

  8. 3 hours ago, golstat2003 said:

    Things are fine as is.

It would make me LESS likely to do incarnate trials. Simply because I could just load up a non-AE farm map (you do realize that there are plenty of NON-AE farms right? RIGHT?) and go to town. If this were implemented there would literally be no reason for me to ever run an trial ever again. And I think the farmers would very quickly figure this out as well.

If you're now going to say "well lets not have threads drop from regular content either" I'll say you're nuts. lol

You know people already get very little in the way of threads even when farming right? It's a slow grind and usually you only get threads from the vet level rewards. I think you're over exaggerating how much this would produce.  Farm a whole map solo and you'd get enough for maybe one or even 2 emp merits if you're lucky?

Also removing something from AE and removing something from regular content is VERY different (AND I had stated that I don't believe they should even turn them off for AE anyways).

If the only reason you do iTrials is for the rewards then I suppose you just don't find the game fun in general? I know MANY people who do iTrials on toons over 99 vet who have no use for the rewards but find it fun. Also if the only reason you endure doing a boring iTrial is for the rewards then why wouldn't you want this?  You get to avoid doing those pesky iTrials you apparently don't enjoy doing and can still get your incarnates.  🙂  This should be a blessing to you who doesn't enjoy doing iTrials and just endures the horrible experience to finally get your incarnate components.

nope you'd run out of space, you'd have at best 2 tier 2s and tier 1 clogging you from filling it completely. And maybe just maybe they NEVER had it allowed as a macro for this very reason. so there is that option, just don't include it as a macro option but include it as a selectable option. I never used macros, so I have no clue if it was allowed in macro. you'd also have to do it strategically not spamming, if you filled up the whole tray with tier 1s from vendor, lets say 5x4 slots, /3 = 6.66667 so you'd have one left over as a tier 1 and 6 tier 2s, enough to make 2 tier 3s, and 13 empty slots. if you continued to spam buy and not convert to t3 you'd run out of space with a tray almost full of t2s and 2 t1s. you'd then have to convert to t3s which would yield 6 t3s, with a left over 2 t1s, spamming yet again to fill up on t1s you'd have to convert to t2s again with only 14 slots to combine in, which yields 4 more t2s and a t1 leftover, if you convert to t3 you'd gain 1 extra t3 (7 total) have a t2 and a t1 left over and 12 empty slots. you can see how this would be cumbersome.

    Edit 5x4 not x3..

next lets assume you wanted multiple types of t3s, blue, green, yellow, red, purple. you'd have to not spam now, you'd have to buy exactly 12 t1 blue, make 4 t3 blue, then with 16 spaces left over buy 12 t1 green, it checks out, now you have combined 4 t3 green, now you have 12 slots again it checks out you can combine 12 yellow to make 4 t3 yellow, now you have 8 slots... it does not check out. you need 12. now you need to email completed reds ones to yourself one at a time to make room for the next batch. then there's purple that will be tight.

it's a slow process. it's not realistic to do by "spamming keys" you need to think about what you are doing.

YEP!!! I remember this EXACTLY!!!!  You had to move them around to make room to be able to get them and even then you'd run out of room and have to clear the fully converted ones out to be able to fill your insp tray with the T3 insp.

  10. I also very vividly remember sitting in RWZ combining insp to higher tiers for my SG to get a promotion and having to email myself them or trade them with SG members to make room.  You unlocked the next Tier to convert to whenever your insp tray expanded to that size.

You'd buy a bunch of the tier 1 insp to combine 4 into Tier 2's then combine 5 Tier 2's into a Tier 3.

Games aren’t democracies. If, however, the devs’ design vision is:

    - more people in AE than there are now,

    - greater concentration of /fire brutes than there are now,

    - less people anywhere but AE than there are now

then, well, they should implement your idea.

I’ve just never gotten the sense that that is their design vision, though. Have you?

Ok and what if (like someone else suggested) they don't allow people to gain threads from AE, then what do you have to complain about?  (Not that I agree they should remove thread drops from AE)

If people want to convert it, they will.  If they want to go the other route, they will.  IF people want to convert to unlock their incarnates AND do the other stuff then they can too (which a lot do)  Also the rate in which people can farm this is purely dependent on how much they farm and their chances of getting thread drops as post vet 99 you only get threads from drops. Eventually their reserves would run dry and they'd have to slowly rebuild them which would be more easily done through iTrials.

If anything it'd make people more inclined to do iTrials post incarnate completion as they can break stuff down and send them to their alts.

But yeah you're right they clearly want less people farming.  They only allow you to multibox (and make it super easy to do so built into the launcher a an option) which is ONLY ever used to PL alts while farming and just released new maps for AE, as well as promoted AE maps.  But CLEARLY they don't support people farming a lot right?   What were you saying about critical thinking???

The game is already geared differently from Live, allowing people to level up MUCH faster and generally PL everything (If they so choose).

If you want the game to be more like live, I hear ThunderSpy is more similar to live but might be less population. People don't gain XP from AE "farm" maps on ThunderSpy too so less farmers.

Having the arrows be poorly rendered is, at least for me, a much more miniscule problem with Archery/Trick Arrow/Tactical Arrow compared to the draw animations, where the arrow wobbling around while you hold it at full draw is exactly what you shouldn't be doing -- if your aim is shaking that much, you're either pulling too much draw weight, holding it too long, or over-tightening your bow arm muscles -- all of which are mistakes that a hero specializing in archery shouldn't be making. I would like to see the shake removed -- the animation time is fine, just stop waving your gear around -- particularly for the snipe.

I imagine animating something is much harder than changing a texture. I'd love to see that fixed for sure, and how the bow flips in your hand sometimes or goes through your body with ninja run stance but that would probably take a lot of work.

  13. All good points, in a way...  The one about people doing less trial and stuff is kinda selfish.  Maybe people don't want to do them. Why should people be forced to do them more because you like doing them?  Maybe people do like farming and cranking out builds?  If the options is given and a lot of people like it then clearly majority wins yeah?

But really if say it were 50-1 even would be better than nothing.  Or like someone else suggested more things to do with threads beyond super insp.

Any ideas of what threads could be used for beyond their current uses?

  14. I've long wanted to make an epic archer toon, but quickly disappointed in it when the arrows look like plastic cutouts. They're horribly rendered, can't be recoloured, and often don't match with the bow at all.

Energy arrows, Metal arrows, Wooden arrows, Tech arrows, etc..  Would be amazing for the powerset, add customization, and make the powerset seem like it's actually finished and not half baked. lol

  15. Nothing quite as annoying as playing a sniper build, hold controller, or a stalker than wants to get that Alpha strike in on the strongest enemy but has to cycle through every single minion and LT before finding the boss (assuming you're not slowly waiting to be able to click and select the target).

"Target_Enemy_Next Boss"     could be a HUGE game changer for how teams work in unison.

Single target toons scoping out the tough buggers, AoE clearing the rest, Helps toons with good perception to spot AV's in the distance and prepare for it with the team like a scout. etc..

  16. So we have way to convert Empyrean Merits into 20 threads, why not allow us to do the reverse?  It'd give a use for those 99+ vet level toons that just get Threads and have absolutely no use for them anymore besides maybe buying super insps.

Would allow you to transfer resources back and forth easier for better character building and inspire people to play their toons more even after collecting all incarnates.

I know a lot of people who rarely finish their incarnates because it's such a slow pace crawl to get the resources for it. This could help people feel less hindered when trying to complete incarnates.

  17. Just a list of a few powerset ideas that I've been thinking about.

    Blasters/defender Primary:
    -Thorn blast
    -Shield throw

    Blaster secondary:
    -
Shield assault (Shield bashes to either stun or knock back enemies, maybe one where you slam your shield into the ground for an AOE KD)

-Street Justice (Just a blaster variant)
-Water melee (Fists coated in bubbles of water that do cold or fire damage depending on the attack, maybe some that leave them "choking on water" stunned)

    Tanker/Brute Primary:
-Sonic Armor (Like the defenses the sonic controller can give players)
-Plant armor (Vines that cover your body to protect you and maybe release spores or poisoned thorns that reduce defense of those in melee range)

    Tanker/Brute Secondary:
-Shield Melee (Like the blaster version but More AOE and cone, no Knockback)
    -Water Melee (Same as above)
    -Sonic Melee
-Whip melee (Like the attacks from the Demon Masterminds)

    Controller/Dominator Primary or secondary variations:
    -
Water control (Use water to trip, hold, immobilize, daze, or suck the moisture out of them to reduce their regeneration or max health or end)
-Energy Control (Like Green lantern powers but mostly making things out of energy to attack or trap enemies)
-Insect control (Send swarms or insects, or single special poisonous insects to stun your target and debuff them or confuse them. Maybe blind them with swarms)

    Scrapper/Stalker Primary
    -
Shield Melee (Much like tanker/brute but more damage and faster recharge)
    -Sonic Melee
-Whip melee (Like the whip attacks for the demon masterminds)
-Water Melee (Like Tanker/Brute but better damage and faster recharge)

    Mastermind Primary:
    -
Illusion minions (Like the Illusions control, you summon minions that can look like you)
    - Shadow Minions (Like the darkness control minions. Shadow beasts and stuff)
-Mind control Mastermind (A mastermind that when using their summoning powers, will control a nearby enemy or group of enemies of the appropriate class (Minion, Lt., Boss, Etc...) until they die. They will fight for you and you gain experience like you would your normal pets)
-Fire/Ice/Stone/electricity/Etc... Master mind (Basically pets similar to the imps, and other creatures made of their respective elements)
-Plant Minions (Venus fly trap creatures and Devouring earth type creatures molded out of plants)

I know the Developers have enough on their plates right now, but I figure these might inspire some ideas that could be developed in the future. I feel a lot of these powers are either missing from AT's, or would just be reasonable new powers to work on in the future.

    Any advice and suggestion?

    Thanks!

My DP/Martial blaster tanks AV's all the time in melee range.

He also herds huge mobs and is usually the center aggro for the mobs for some time as I wait for groups to merge for AOE Barrage.

Incarnates help a lot to make this happen but that's mostly only doing 45+ content.  However taking Melee and Barrier as well as the Eye of the Magus accolade you can pretty much keep yourself a tank SOB at all times.  Of course Weave, and combat jumping (Instead of hover for me) are a must.  Absorb proc from Preventive medicine and the scaling damage resistance from Reactive Defense also helps and the 4 accolades to increase your health/endurance.  My current health is 1707.75

  19. So I love the fact that Rocket Board and Void skiff don't turn off all your powers now, and can stack with other flight powers, but the only affecting self aspect puts a huge dampener on a few toon ideas I wanted to make using it.

At the very least I'd love it if these powers wouldn't turn on "Only affecting self", but it got me thinking how awesome it could be if they made a new travel power set for each of these types of travel option (Rocket Board, Void Skiff, Flying Carpet) and perhaps added some cool powers with them.

Rocket Board could shoot a rocket/beam from it or a forcefield that protects the rider... Just things involving the Rocket Board itself as the source of the powers. (And of course customization of the Rocket Board appearance and trail colour)

Void Skiff Could launch energy discs or a beam from it as an attack or a blast below it that knocks enemies down/back.

Flying Carpet can be more mystical oriented with tarot card attacks or debuffs to enemies.

I know this would take a LOT of work and well as I'm nowhere capable of being a developer, I can only give ideas and hope someone out there likes this idea too and is willing to see how (and if) if could be done. The Rocket Board is the main desire here however as I feel there's a lot of potential for some cool toons around a travel powerset like that.

Any feedback and opinions are welcome but please don't be rude. It puts a dampener on any discussion.

  20. So I've had a lot of characters I wanted to make with say... Electricity wings or gas wings or burning wings that actually flap like wings.  We have the Phoenix wings but those look... eh... and they're not animated.

I was thinking if they took the animation from other wings (Ones that flap) and just made them the same as the aura textures you could blend them with costumes better and make more toons that look cool using the new fly upgrades. 😛

An option to have them leave a trail would be even cooler if possible.

That's sort of the problem, lack of clarity in presentation. The OP mentions control powers, armor powers, and alludes to support powers as well. Later posts mention a hybrid style powerset. That I am curious to hear more about, and requested as such at the end of my second post.

In the name of constructive discourse, I'll try mulling over a support/control hybrid set.

A fire control/support set would start with the options of Ring of Fire at T1 and Char at T2, as every AT has to start with at least one attack power. T3 and T4 we can provide the option of a few support powers, Warmth and Fire Shield, I believe is the s/l Thermal power? After that Hot Feet seems good at T5, as armor sets would play well with pbaoe powers like that. T6 and T7 I'd make another couple support powers, Cauterize and Plasma Shield. Thaw and Forge could also work. T8 and T9 Im not sure about. Pet powers seem a bit much, but finding a satisfying capstone otherwise is hard. Flashfire and Cinders revalanced to be less terrible would give the set some hard AoE control, but may be too much. I mentioned in an earlier post that the set should focus on softer control so maybe Fire Cages and Bonfire? Capstones they are not.

The idea is to discuss the idea here, and thank you for actually trying to provide constructive criticism and ideas instead of just a "It no do big damage, me like big damage so me no like" kind of responses.

I was under the impression these forums were to bring up ideas and discuss them with the community to see how it would be done, rather than trying to sh*t on the posters idea because you personally wouldn't use it. lol

Of course this would need a lot of work but merging the different AT's I feel in general would add more variety to the game. It seems that since live nobody wants to play anything but a Blaster (Often a blapper build), Brute, Defender, or Tanker...  You'll get the odd troller or dom but they just don't hold up to the other AT's anymore it seems. The control playstyle needs some new spice to it I feel.

Healers are all but useless now. lol  Most healers on a team rarely need to use their heal I find. lol

If it has a Control Primary and an Armor Secondary there is no way it could be made "Fun". Effective, yes. Very survivable. But not "Fun".

    Same for Defense/Support.

Don't care what values you tie to their defenses, controls, or support abilities, it would still suck a whole bag of rocks to try and play that character for any length of time.

Early on you wouldn't be able to do much of anything. Then in the late-mid range (35-45) you'd get -kind- of useful. And then in the Endgame you'd go back to being largely useless.

And I "Assume" they'd follow the current archetype paradigm because there's no reason to assume they'd completely discard all their current balancing setups -just- for this one archetype. Full on discard all the end cost, effectiveness, ,damage, and recharge time mechanics, Archetype Scalar Priorities based on Primary/Secondary Sets, and other levers.

Because there's no reason to assume they WOULD be willing to completely start over from scratch on balancing just to make this one incredibly slow and plodding archetype to function.

Why in the world do you assume they'd do all that just to try and wedge this archetype that can barely do anything but "Not Die" in the general direction of the NPCs into the game? And can you imagine how hilariously unfortunate it would be to try and take this behemoth into PvP?

    Woof.

That's what I'm gonna call this AT 'til you come up with a different name. The Behemoth.

They have done that before with other AT's, it's literally just reducing certain values to balance out the AT,  The same thing that had to be done for ALL AT's multiple times from live to now. lol
