  1. Our group went to Guild Wars 2 which came out about the time the close was announced. I (solo) went to Star Trek. We quit GW2 after a year or two, I'm still playing STO. I also played a little Champions, Everquest, Secret World... I think that was it. I was SO glad when Homecoming came along. I sat in the line to get in as it first went public. 🙂
  2. I donated 3 month's worth since I missed the last two for work/being out of town. I also got on a couple of times and used the General channel to remind people. I was surprised one guy didn't even know this was a thing but he promised to do his part. I would be crushed if the game went away again.
  3. Someone else had it. I could have sworn that was the name I used that worked 10 seconds earlier but maybe not. I'm old and forgetful. I'll come up with something sooner or later. Thanks guys. Next time I'll try logging completely out to try again.
  4. I was building a new character and experimenting with names. I had one that worked but kept going because it didn't seem perfect. When I finally decided that was as good as it was going to get, it was unavailable. I think I locked myself out of my own name. Any idea how long it stays locked until I can try it again?
  5. I'm talking about the mission where you infiltrate the cave and talk to the nictus at the end. Our group was laughing at my character's tail still showing and we blamed that, not my poor choice of responses, for raising suspicions that got us attacked. Maybe that mission doesn't result in a party wipe if you choose well or maybe it always results in combat but... First, I'll say we did not party wipe and the one death was well after the battle started and caused by incoming from behind (she was a controller). I will say it was extremely challenging and we enjoyed that part of it. I'm not sure if anyone else in the party needed a change of pants after the battle started but I definitely did not, nope. HOWEVER, having all powers turned off when the battle started was extremely scary and chaotic beyond what the situation should have called for. Just because I'm wearing alternate clothing should not mean that I can't be ready for a fight just in case. I was the tank and went through all of my defense/sturdy inspirations while simultaneously trying to turn on all my toggles (dark armor so yeah) AND trying to get the aggro to save the two squishies. Thankfully the blaster had Barrier and that helped a lot. I would suggest that either the mission be changed to allow powers but have the enemies be blue/untouchable OR suppress toggles instead of turning them off until the battle starts. Not sure that second option is available if attacks have to be disabled too. Anyway, I liked the whole arc (have not run the finale yet) and the missions and especially the new maps, are awesome but that one thing seemed a little ... rough.
  6. I think of it as 2 for all and 1 hero TF. Blue side has a lot more TF's than red side has SF's. The coop TF's are used to fill the gaps. Has Aeon been added to the rotation yet?
  7. When I manage to get in on it, I donate $30 to represent the old sub price for my wife and I. I donated as soon as I got back in town and the goal said it was $5 short when I finished. 20 minutes later it had accumulated another couple of hundred dollars. I would absolutely hate it if the lights went out again.
  8. We were out of town yesterday and I just assumed I had missed the window. Very surprised to login this morning and see it was still open for donations!
  9. Wow! Thanks for the interesting discussion. I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. All I wanted was a way to automatically save the combat log to my hard drive as it is generated so I could analyse it closer. To be honest, my 9-10% chance to miss in that particular instance seemed about right for my overall experience but I wanted thousands of rolls to look at, not a bit over a hundred which is apparently as many as I can get at a time in my visible combat log in-game. I'm not sure I want the game changed so much as someone with inner-vision on the code to setup a piece of diagnostic code to verify the RNG & to-hit formulas really are random and not prone to being as lopsided as it feels and go from there. But I do agree with the people who say this doesn't seem to be a problem in other games. I know that I sometimes see my torpedoes miss in Star Trek and my combos don't always activate in FFXIV, but it isn't nearly as often as I see MISS pop up in COH. I don't THINK it's the obvious MISS message that makes it more obvious, but maybe it is. For the record, I'm also that table-top & board-game player whose dice are always cursed - my entire life. My lack of luck with RNG's of all types have been a running joke with every party/person I've ever played any sort of game with. I'm not sure what I did to deserve such karma but the old "lucky at cards unlucky at love" proverb has been quoted in reverse to me many times in my life because while my dice hate me, I've been very happily married for more than 40 years. And in the end, it's just a game and as long as I'm having fun with friends, I'm good.
  10. Cryptic sold COH to NCSoft back in 2007. NCSoft is the sole owner as far as I know.
  11. The RNG has always been my arch-nemesis, but the number of misses I am experiencing are extremely frustrating. I've gotten where I overslot accuracy on all of my attacks on every characters to try to minimize that problem. And while I knew how it felt, and my group jokes that using Buildup or Aim was a guaranteed miss on snipes and assassinations, I had no stats to back me up so I had not come here to ask if anyone else had that same feeling. Finally, last night I did a copy+Paste from the combat log in-game into Notepad on my desktop. It took a while because Copy was only getting the log I could see and not all of the text I highlighted, but I finally got it done. Only the last 12 minutes were available to be viewed so that's all I have to go on. In that time period I performed 132 attacks and all had a 95% chance to-hit vs Freakshow ranging from white minions to red bosses. In that time period I missed 12 times (3 of them vs the boss within a 10 second window which nearly got me killed since I was playing a blaster) - certainly not as bad as I thought but still around a 9% miss rate instead of 5%. Of course 12 of the 120 hits were streakbreaker hits that didn't roll at all but I went ahead and counted them as rolled to-hit instead of going with a 10% miss rate on attempts that actually used the RNG. I'd like to do further analysis over longer periods of time, but I cannot figure out how to get the combat log to write to disk. I've tried all the options I could find but haven't found that they work, or perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place. Is there a way to do that?
  12. I acquired the "Shut Down Council Cell" from Lorenzo DiCosta (at 9th level) and was told not to let anyone escape. When I went to the second floor I saw him running toward me from behind a shut glass door which he opened on his own. I braced to try to keep him from running past me and I got him targeted but then he turned and ran through the wall and all of my attacks went dark for lack of LOS. I could see the target brackets move diagonally away from me and directly toward the elevator room. I ran back in time to see the doors open and got a short glimpse of him before I was kicked out of the failed mission. Not a huge deal but disappointing. I mean honestly, I don't think my defender could have stopped him anyway but I wasn't even given a chance despite the normal laws of physics say I should have. He must have learned that trick from the employees at Portal Corp. They can move through walls too. 😄
  13. Has there been any talk about making Controller pets intangible to players so we can pass through them? They did that to master mind pets recently and I'd love to see that same treatment to ours. My Umbral Beast gets in everyone's way including my own.
  14. The one I remember had the knockdown notification in dark orange just after the to-hit and damage lines of the attack that hit me. Immediately before that was the XP from the last enemy in the previous fight and immediately after (actually just prior to the KD notice) was a note that I had triggered an attack, then the KD, the to-hit in yellow, then damage and finally the XP I got for his defeat. That was followed by the rest of the fight. Intermixed in there was the recharge notice for Lifegiving Spores and, well after the fight was over, the notice that the aura was recharged. That's pretty much the kind of thing I saw in the other times I reviewed the log during the mission before I stopped bothering to turn them on. My logs folder is empty so I can't review it in more detail to see if it happened further back and I just hadn't noticed. It is conceivable I wasn't even looking in the right place but since I tended to look immediately after the fights while I waited for stuff to recharge, I don't think that's the case. I'll try again and try to pay more attention next time. Thanks for the information though.
  15. Ok so do mez effects not show in the combat log? Because I certainly don't see it in these circumstances I'm talking about. At least not outside of the "You have been knocked down" announcement. Not to say there weren't times where I knew why they turned off. I was fighting Crey and I know they have a lot of mez effects. I mean if I'm in a solid block of ice or staggering around, even for only a moment, or get shot by an ambushing Sapper, then I totally understand even if I don't like it. But that's not what I'm talking about. Oh well, just me I guess.
