  1. I made a post about this in the Reddit sub, but it was suggested that I ask here, as well. A real life friend of mine passed away at the end of August. I never knew what his Global Name or even for sure if he played on Homecoming or not, but the only clue I have is that he'd made a character named Hurricane Rick about a year ago. I don't know if a GM/Mod/Dev (or whoever's in charge) has a way to try and look it up to see. I actually just started playing on CoH after seeing his post on Reddit. I knew his username there, but he didn't know I knew it. We'd been friends for over 25 years, but kind of drifted apart over the past few years after I moved to China and didn't have an easy way to communicate. I actually joined CoH again in the hopes of reconnecting and playing with him after seeing his post on the Reddit sub. He was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer back at the end of May, and passed at the end of August. Our one mutual friend who I talked to regularly had last told me that he was in treatment (chemo and radiation therapy). I was planning to reach out after he completed his treatment, but I was too late. We hadn't been able to reach him for over a month (which now we know why), so I was getting more and more concerned. I spent some time on Google today and found his obituary. Anyway, I was mainly wanting to see about getting his account passed over to his sister (if she wants it). I'm still trying to contact her via the funeral home, though. Also, I thought maybe he had some friends that he played with who might want to know he was gone. While I can't give any specific information on any other Global Names or characters, if a GM or someone who has access can contact me, I can maybe give you some other information like his real name and maybe an email he might've used to register. Sorry for the depressing post, but thank you for taking the time to read it.
  2. Do you just keep Burn on auto cast and stay on follow without any issues with this one dying?
  3. Thanks for this info! I really appreciate it!
  4. I know that just about anything can be made to function effectively, and a lot of builds are personal choices for different reasons. I just never see any AR blasters, and I'm having a hard time even finding builds that use them (with exception to a couple that use Devices... which I don't like). Before I really get going on this, is AR/Temp even worth it overall? I have an Archery/Tactical Arrow that I really enjoy. I also have a Pain/DP Defender that I like. Just not sure if AR/Temp synergizes or works well. Anyone use this build? I'm really trying to find something that doesn't have a billion buttons or abilities to use, but can still blow the house down without too much huff and puff.
  5. That sounds just about exactly what I'm looking for. You wouldn't happen to have your build available, would you?
  6. Thanks for replying! I was thinking of trying out Shield on a Tanker. I've actually never played Tanker or used Shield as a power, though. Do you have any thoughts on that?
  7. I'm wanting to try out something that just can't die with the right build (assuming no user-error or extreme situations don't occur). I'm guessing maybe this is a Tanker? Bonus points if it's fun to play, not a ton of buttons to manage, and can do enough damage to solo some content in a reasonable amount of time. Cost of the build doesn't matter. Just wanting to try something sort of "mindlessly easy" for a bit while I'm working.
  8. I don't know if that made sense exactly, but I'm wanting to convert my Spines/Fire Brute into an auto-follow AoE for my main farmer. I would completely need to respec and change out my enhancements, but I'm hoping to find something that will add some aoe for faster killing, but something that isn't going to die if I'm not paying attention to it or switching back to it. My current farmer is a Rad/Fire Brute, and it's doing very, very well at +4/x8. So long as I have a medium purple insp to pop every now and then, I never need to bother with a heal. Without that, though, I'll have to use my heal every so often if I get particularly unlucky in the initial alpha strike from the group. Anyway, if anyone has a build that would cap defense for something like the Tunnel Fire Farm, while just being able to run auto cast on Burn and do AoE dmg on follow, I would love to be able to use it. Thanks so much! PS: Alternatively, is there some other AT and Build that would be even better as an Auto Follow farmer that I never have to worry about or look at? Maybe a Tanker would be better?
  9. You're all just speaking Greek to me at this point. I have no idea what Emp Merits are even for. haha
  10. Like, I understand that there are some missions you can do repeatedly every day (or maybe more than once a day?) that give you stuff you need for Incarnate things or special abilities you'll want. Is there a list somewhere that I can see them, what they reward, and get some info on them? Also, does anyone have any recommendations of missions to do every day that may not be on the top of the normal list? Thank you!
  11. Great stuff! Thanks so much for the quick reply! I guess I'll be spending my day off trying to absorb this info. haha
  12. So, I've been trying to watch videos on builds, and reading about builds, but a lot of them use a lot of shorthand or what I guess is "common knowledge" to experienced players when talking about Sets and how they affect different builds. I don't know anything about sets other than they give you certain bonuses for having so many slotted into a power. I don't even know where to begin to look to better understand how to slot my powers effectively. Is there some master list or primer on how these things work? Thanks so much!
  13. Very good to know, thanks!!!
  14. Awesome and very helpful information to have. I so very much appreciate the time and effort you gave to post this! Thank you!
  15. Wow, thanks so much for taking the time to give me this info! It's very, very helpful, and much appreciated!
  16. I've read that Fire Farms are more for tankers and brutes. I'm new, so I'm not really sure if there's an easy way to search the AE for what I'm looking for. I'm playing a Bots/Time MM, and I'm about level 19 right now. Are there any good AE that you other MMs use that don't take forever and a day to finish? haha Thanks!
  17. Awesome! Thanks so much!
  18. Hi there! Just started playing yesterday and I'm loving it. I had a look through some of the posts, and wanted to see if there was anything that maybe I missed or if anyone had any new or different opinions. If it's okay, I wanted to just ask a few questions about playing this AT. Let me start by saying that I like the idea of a "pet class". I tried to make a Demon Summoning Empathy character, but it just felt so weak. I'm sure they all feel that way early on, though. It got me thinking that maybe I should come pick the brains of the experts here before I kept going with that one. Is there a general consensus or agreement that one henchman/pet type is superior at end game? I really want some Ninjas, but I feel like maybe they would be weak later on. Maybe I'm wrong, though. Is there a superior secondary power to take? I thought Empathy so I could heal my pets. The first heal feels a little lackluster, though. Again, I'm sure it's better later on, though. I mostly solo (which is why I want a pet class), but I don't want to be useless or annoying in a group. As a new player, I obviously don't have the resources to put together something truly outstanding for whatever the "meta OP" build is. Is there a "poor man's" combination that is still solid and fun? Any tips and tricks you would suggest for playing this AT? Anything you would recommend I definitely not bother taking or using? Thanks so much, and I hope these questions aren't annoying.
  19. Awesome, I'll give it a look after my afternoon nap here! haha Thanks so much!
  20. Awesome! Thank you so much! Really loving the community so far. Haven't come across any toxicity in game chat, either. Good stuff!
  21. Good info to have, and I would love to see the guide when you remake it. I did make a Bio/Spines Tanker. Not sure how I'm liking it so far (only level 10), but I seem to survive most things so far. I'm sure every build survives most things at this level, though, so that isn't likely saying much. haha
  22. Awesome info, and so greatly appreciated! I made a Something/Time Corrupter, actually. I don't remember the first power. It felt weak to me, so I didn't play more than a couple of levels. I'm sure it gets way better, though. I also made a Bio/Spines tanker (based on someone's suggestion). It does feel slow, but I feel like I can take a beating, even at level 10. I'm sure I'll make dozens of different characters until I find something that really feels great, though.
  23. You, sir, are a scholar and a gentleman! I'll be sending you an email shortly! haha
