  1. In CoH I've always seen 2 things happening that if they happened to me on another mmo I would be a little annoyed but it never bothered me in this game and I actually always welcomed it: 1- People joining in to help with the opponents you are fighting (even if you don't need help) - in this game this always felt "right" to me. I mean we're all on the same side fighting crime... if some other hero sees me on the street fighting some bad guys it's just normal they'd join in. To me, this helps with immersion. I usually don't join in other people's fights unless it's a big bad dude, especially because I fly around and don't see other fights. 2- People inviting you to their team without even sending a pm first - again I find this positive for the sake of immersion. It's as if someone is in big need of help and asks for reinforcements; anyway if I'd find this bothers me I'd go to options and block all invites. As I said, in all other mmorpgs I've played (and it's quite a handful) this too has happened to me and it bothered me there but never in CoH; it just feels different.
  2. I feel that way towards auras, not so much towards capes. I mean capes are just part of the costume, but auras give out the idea of power. Seeing a lvl 1 go around glowing like he has enough juice to blow up the whole city feels weird. Earning auras at a later level would give me that feeling that my character's powers have matured and that he's the real deal now.
  3. Nothing will be lost. If the homecoming project fails (for some reason), the bio that you write won't be in vain. You can use it again on a new server/project. I have my outfits saved on my hard-drive and my bio saved on a .txt file for whenever I'll be forced to move somewhere else, which I don't believe will happen that soon btw
  4. Actually my reply was to the OP I didn't read that you had a somewhat similar issue. Their issue really sounds like motion sickness. In your case maybe it would help if you posted your PC specs as well as internet connection type and "speeds". You can also bring up the netgraph option in-game (you need to set a keybind for that in keybinds first) which could show a little more information about how the game is using your network.
  5. Actually Nvidia also supports FreeSync now but only if connected with a DVI cable (HDMI not supported)
  6. Sounds like a typical case of motion sickness, so I'd suggest: - Disable camera shake (although this is something that only happens in combat and is not related to the specific issue reported it might cause problems in other situations) - There is a field of view option in the game that is automatic by default but you might want to manually set it to a more pleasant angle - Change depth of field effect (disable or enable it to see how it affects you when you're turning) - Reduce turning sensitivity - Enable free camera movement (this will make your character instantly move in the direction the camera is facing instead of facing the camera to where he moves, meaning the camera won't rotate every time you start moving) - Set "Look Up and Down" to "Free Look" (this will prevent the vertical angle of the camera from resetting when you're moving so it doesn't go up and down all the time when you rotate the camera during movement) PS: I might edit this post later to specify exactly where each of these options are; right now I'm off to work.
  7. I didn't have this dilemma so much because I loved my main character. I made other ones but I never really played them and they never reached max level. So when the time came to create my first hero I went for the very same one but as I was finishing the costume (which I still knew how to complete just off the top of my head) it felt old and classic. So instead of creating a new one, I just changed his look a bit and gave it a more modern touch as if 6 years had passed since the last time he was seen. My old char now has a beard, looking more like a man and less like a boy and the classic "around the eyes" mask was replaced by modern looking lenses. The rest remained pretty much the same with a little retouch here and there (what was yellow is now more golden, the oval belt buckle is now square). To everyone facing that dilemma I think you should try that trick: designing how your character would look 6 years after the last time he was seen. Maybe nothing changed, maybe he got new gadgets, maybe he took on a darker look because something bad happened to him... roleplay it even if you're not into RP ;)
  8. Sorry I thought ESET was just a software firewall, not antivirus, meaning it would block the ports but not the processes themselves (like an antivirus does), which is why I was asking about an antivirus.
  9. I have them all, including Manticore and Sister Psyche's wedding special made with in-game screenshots
  10. It still works, just tested. You sir are a true hero (even if you have a threatening name)! :) Influence coming your way
  11. You still haven't mentioned anything about your antivirus. Do you even have one? If not then ignore this but if you do, try disabling it completely for a test.
  12. Or if you want the short version: click on options in the tequila launcher and add this to the parameters: -screen x y Replace x and y with the desired resolution (eg: 800 600, 1920 1080, etc...) and when the game launches make sure you go to settings and choose the right resolution and exit. Then go to the launcher again and remove the parameters (or just leave them there to force the desired resolution every time; whatever floats your boat). edit: I see my reply was too late but I'll still leave it here in case someone else finds it useful
  13. Just because NCSoft closed the game doesn't mean they forfeited their rights: they still own the Intellectual Property. But as long as the Homecoming team isn't profiting from said Intellectual Property (which they aren't, in fact they're losing money) there is no reason for NCSoft to be upset about that and close the servers. This is why they aren't accepting donations.
  14. So I found this on youtube and it reminded me that at some point there was this splash screen and this music when the game launched (are we up to something here?). Still I don't think there was a way to force the client to open this way unless you'd roll the client back to when this expansion was launched (issue 18 I think).
  15. I don't think there is a Going Rogue skin. There are CoH and CoV skins because they were both standalone games. For the first 5 issues, there was only City of Heroes; issue 6 coincided with the release of another standalone game called City of Villains. People who bought City of Villains did not have access to the hero part of the game, meaning you had 2 different game clients, one for each side. Eventually the Good vs Evil edition came out which merged the 2 game clients into 1. For this reason you can use -cov to open the City of Villains themed client. When Going Rogue came out, even though it was a paid expansion, it was exactly just that: an expansion. It wasn't a standalone project like City of Villains was which is the reason why I don't believe there is a client skin for it (and also because I've never seen it either). Of course I might be wrong...
  16. Actually it would. They're only running it on those specs because they're hosting thousands of players. I'm fairly confident that my 8-core i7 with 64gigs of ram would be able to run the game for a dozen of friends if I turned it into a dedicated server.
  17. Hi! So now that all logging has been disabled... If someone reports an error or cheating or exploiting how are the devs supposed to find it in the logs? Shouldn't for example error logging be kept? Or cmds logging? Also if someone is verbally abused or harassed and they were so upset they forgot to take a screenshot... How are GMs supposed to handle it without chat logs? - I'm not criticizing, I'm honestly curious and worried about how such issues will be handled.
