I had found a disc copy of Champions Online at Best Buy for 13 cents CAD in the summer prior to the shutdown announcement and officially started it that September, and was logging in fairly regularly until 2021-2022-- I only really stopped because Thundrax's player, someone who I had also came to know decently well IRL, passed away and it just made it mentally hard to look at the game the same. While there definitely came a point over the years where I cared less about actually playing the game and more about RPIng and character concepts (despite being much less alt-heavy than my time in CoH), I genuinely came to appreciate and prefer my time in CO a lot more. I also was really heavy into FFXIV once I upgraded my computer in 2014 from the potato that it was. (And technically still going if it weren't for digital time codes being "out of stock" on the SQEX store right now...)

Been a while! Got in a new commission yesterday for Rubbound from artist Mike Belcher (indie comics creator of Man in the Mask).

I haven't forgotten the tradition of "if you like a character enough, you should get artwork for them". So, here's a quick sketch of my character Rubbound (Everlasting server) from Eryck Webb, an artist I have worked with many, many times over the years-- especially when it comes to MMO superheroes.

I mentioned briefly in another thread about getting my start in CoH on Triumph server. I think the one I remember most here was my first ever character, Arctracer, from about 2010-ish.

Oh boy. Look who finally showed up. Where to even start...? If people do happen to remember me, I was @Epelesker. The retail City of Heroes was my first MMORPG. My stint in the live game was relatively short (from the beginning of 2010 to the game's closure) and while I did start on Triumph server, I moved to Virtue roughly three months in and the rest was pretty much history. My SG resume includes the Paragonian Knights, the New Age Mutants, the Palladium Sentry, the Golden Age Heroes (and affiliates), the All-Star Teen Sentinels, the Protagonists (and Protectorates) as well as a short-lived personal project known as the Northern Watch. As for individual characters, my best known were most likely the Malleable Mechanic, Kid Draconian and Vocalizer, though at the height of my interest I used to have a few dozen alts running around in various areas. As for why I'm here now? I had heard a while back that HC was streamer friendly and I was looking at exploring the game again now that it's been pretty much a decade since the shutdown. Been working on setting up so I'll be looking forward to hopping in soonTM. 4649!
