  1. Inside the University lab in Steel Canyon: [NPC] Lab Instructor: Well, you make a very convincing case, I must say. If I were, perhaps, a baboon.
  2. In Faultline: [NPC] Telemarketer: Well it's not just ANY vacuum cleaner, ma'am. Pah! Far from it. This uses aerodynamic technology, has LCD visuals and maintenance monitoring. It's a STEAL at three thousand dollars.
  3. While fighting some Arachnos soldiers in Faultline, I overheard one say the following: [NPC] Wolf Spider TacOps: They have a strip mall here. Did you see that? A STRIP MALL. I may very well throw up. I also heard the following as I continued exploring Faultline while badge hunting: [NPC] Mortificator: He came to me looking to lose some weight. So I chopped off his leg! [NPC] Mortificator: Oh man, that's a risky move, but he did hit his target weight. Not your fault, honestly. [NPC] Stunner Chief: Underneath all this metal, I'm a businessman. Now do right by me. [NPC] Wolf Spider Assault: Well, I won't be extorted by some metallic psychopath in makeup. If you think those strong-arm tactics are going to work, think again. Do you even KNOW who Lord Recluse is?
  4. I overheard this one during the Hypothermal Lab Results Tip mission as the Sky Raiders were dealing with Snakes: [NPC] Wing Raider: You know, I have a feeling this serum is NOT working correctly! I also came across this one while saving one of Paragon's aldermen during the Furtive Plea For Help Tip mission: [NPC] Wolf Spider Assault: I REALLY hate it when someone interrupts me in the middle of killing a hostage!
  5. A little late to the party, but wanted to take part in the challenge. Here were my three rolls: 1: 5-22-57 - Dark/Temporal Blaster 2: 89-38-33 - Energy/Fiery Armor Stalker 3: 42-82-94 - Time/Water Defender After ruling out the Stalker (the previous two Slot Machine Challenge picks were Stalkers), I decided to pick the Blaster. I'm not too familiar with Dark Blast and although I used Temporal in the past, it's been a while since I played a Blaster with that secondary. So far, I managed to complete the first arcs in Atlas Park and leveled up to level 6. Here is my blaster, Aeon Noir
  6. I came across this one after leaving a mission in Faultline: [NPC] Diseased Abomination: Did I frighten you? Oh good. Scared victims are so much more fun to work with.
  7. After finishing leveling up my Slot Machine Random Challenge character to level 50 (and incarnates), I decided to work on a challenge that I felt would be challenging to even those who have experience with the game. Called the Temporary Powers Challenge, there are a few rules to go by: 1. You can only damage opponents using temporary powers (i.e. Revolver, St. Louis Slammer, etc.). You can use the Origin power that your character receives at character creation. 2. If your character Primary/secondary has a build up/aim power, you can use it to help with accuracy or to give your temporary attacks more power. 3. You can use your secondary powers (or primary if using a Tanker) as long as they don't do damage to the enemy. 4. Any temporary powers that you get from missions are fair game (Warwolf Whistle, EMP Glove, etc.) You can add optional rules like Ironman rules, or no using the Action House, etic. to make it even more challenging. So far, I have made it to level 17 on my character, going with STJ/Nin Scrapper as Ninjutsu has several powers that aid my character (Stealth, Endurance Recovery and Heal specifically). It was a bit of a challenge early on, but after getting Seishinteki Kyoyo, my endurance problems were mostly solved. Have anyone else tried something similar and if so how was the experience?
  8. During a radio mission to stop a robbery at a pawn shop owned by reformed Freakshow: [NPC] Hordeling Lasher: Reformed Freakshow? Is nothing stable in this floating world? [NPC] Archer: Fine, I'll just say it: This is weird.
  9. This was my Pool-only character, aptly named Pool Girl. I got her to level 31 and so far, she has held her own. This Hero build was built using Mids Reborn 3.1.2.5 https://github.com/LoadedCamel/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! 10. After rescuing a scared Council recruit during the Moonfire Task Force: [NPC] Scared recruit: It's recently dawned on me that ship building is a very noble occupation.
  11. I believe that it's a quest in the Level 30-34 range called Stop the production of Council robots and retrieve some parts for analysis. I believe that you can get the mission from whoever has the Council Story Arc.
  12. I managed to get Permastone up to level 37 today. The combo continues to do very well with Frozen Aura adding another AoE to compliment Frost. It does drain endurance a bit with all the toggles, but it's a minor issue. I managed to do the first three task forces solo (old Positron, Synapse, and Sister Psyche) with the Clockwork King being the toughest opponent (I almost went down a couple of times due to his attacks killing my recharge on my attacks). I enjoyed doing this event and look forward to it again. I also recommend this combo (Ice/Stone Stalker) as well as it's very enjoyable to play.
  13. Permastone has finally reached Level 30 after completing the Looking Through the Glass story arc from Special Agent Jenni Adair. Ice/Stone is a pretty good combination on a Stalker and I continue to be surprised each time I play her. When I got Brimstone Armor, I was amazed to see extra damage on each of my attacks, which is always appreciated. I'm working on her final build and looking forward to seeing how she plays as she gets closer to level 50.
  14. I used the Archetypes w/Epics list and came up with these: 6-43-82: Ice Melee/Stone Armor Stalker - Looks to be an interesting combination. I have never played either set, so this might be the one for me. 57-89-52: Sonic Blast/Poison Corruptor - Another interesting combo. I think I will pass on this pick. 66-74-61: Robotics/Radiation Emission Mastermind - I think I will pass. (Bonus Roll) 51-44-72: Electric Blast/Radiation Armor Sentinel - I already have one, so I will pass on this one. I decided to roll the Ice Melee/Stone Armor Stalker as I never played with either set before. I named her Permastone (I had thought of Frost Stone or Froststone before choosing Permastone).
  15. After saving a ghost from the Circle of Thorns: [NPC] Ghost: They said I'd like life... as a ghost... but so far... it's pretty... lousy. While doing missions in Night Ward: [NPC] Patrolman: You come to the world of the dead, then you stay in the world of the dead, weezer! [NPC] Spirit Guide: All you outsiders are good for is being dead, so hop to it. [NPC] Watcher: And so I says to 'im, 'Hey, mate, you're dead, so shut yer mouth and let's get on wit it.'
  16. While flying around Striga Isle: [NPC] Galaxy Adjutant: Eye strain and carpal tunnel. I love being the lookout guy.
  17. After saving a few reformed Freakshow from the Carnival of Shadows during a Pawn Shop robbery: [NPC] Reformed SalesFreak: And to think I used to date a Carnie! Nothing but issues, I tell you. [NPC] Reformed Freak Proprietor: L00k, w3'r3 r3f0rmed! W3'v3 g0t l1v3s n0w, 4nd 1'm 4 buz1n3ss Pwnz0r!
  18. I leveled up one of my characters, a Claws/Electric brute, using mostly AE missions up to level 50. The concept was that she was a young girl who was turned into a cyborg after nearly dying during the Rikti War by her father who was funded by Crey. The AE missions was set up like training courses to prepare her for use by Crey, but she was freed by a hero who convinced her to be a hero instead. I did grab the badges around the different zones, but made sure not to defeat any enemies while grabbing the badges. Once she leveled to 50 and unlocked her Alpha slot, I began replaying the earlier content with her.
  19. I started playing CoH a couple of days after launch in 2004. I first heard about the game after reading an article about the game in a magazine back in 2001. After heading off to college a couple of years later, I rediscovered CoH after seeing an article about the game on MMORPG.com. I registered for the beta test, made a forum account and the rest was history. I actually remember the day that I played, I had to pickup the game after class. I went to the store only to find that they had no time cards (didn't have a credit card at the time). I then went to every game store in the city where I purchased the game, only to have to travel nearly 100 miles and spending most of the afternoon on the road before finding a time card for the game. Once I got back, I created my first character and met up with some people from the forums that I was a member of and began my CoH journey. I played mostly for the entirety of the game's life, with a few short breaks in between. I was attending a family reunion in Arkansas when I saw several posts about the game's shutdown announcement, but it didn't hit me completely until I returned home and saw the post myself. I was devastated to hear the news and like many was angry with NCSOFT for the (wrongful) decision to shutdown the game. I couldn't believe it as I felt that the game was still doing well enough to stick around for a while and also with the increased interest in superheroes thanks to the MCU movies, I felt that the game would get a boost. As the time ticked down, I made sure to make as much time as I could to enjoy the game before the shutdown. I remember taking pictures of many of my characters, many who had been around for years. When the server when down for the last time, I felt that a part of my life was gone, never to be seen again. It took a while, but I was able to move on from the loss and focus on other things (family, work, etc.). I saw a few posts online talking about the Homecoming and other servers. I created an account, logged in, and haven't left since. To me, it felt like I had reunited with a long-lost friend that I hadn't seen in years, but still remembered all the good times that we had and the memories that we shared. I created a few characters and played around with the character creator. Prior to the game shutting down, I was able to get a few of my character costumes and power customization saved so that I had something to go off of when recreating them. I also had several pictures of many of my characters that I took before the shutdown that I was able to recreate. I really don't have a favorite character, as I have several characters that I enjoy playing from time to time. One day I would be playing a character that I had been working on for a while only to create a new one after having an idea pop into my mind. Despite my constant altitis, I have a few characters that have made it to level 50.
  20. Agent V Update - 7/29/21 After finishing Serpent's story arc, I resumed Crimson's arc with Malta. I was able to find the missing doctor, Heidi Lamarr, but was greeted by tons of Malta Titans and Gunslingers, some of which pushed Agent to her limit. A few times, she was held and was close to dying a few times. Thankfully, either she was able to break free and have Gun Bot 3000 draw the Titan's attention or she would have to use a Break Free to escape and heal before the incoming damage finished her off. After saving the doctor, I continued my fight against Malta. Eventually, I discover the identity of Director 17 and arrest him and his men only to realize that they released another Kronos Titan into the field. I rushed to the sight and was able to bring down the massive enemy after a few ambushes. After finishing off the last of Crimson's missions, which left me 8 bulbs away from reaching Level 50, I explored some side missions from other contacts. I came across Freakshow leader Dreck and put a stop to his group reign of terror against another universe. I also ran several radio missions while hunting down Fake Nemesis on the side between missions. I eventually hunted down some Freakshow Tanks to complete the Freedom Phalanx Reserve Member Badge and get the accolade. Getting tired of running radio missions (I now realize why people run Council radio missions in this range), I decided to do the prison break event in Brickstown. During the event, I not only managed to get the last three Freak Tanks that I needed to get the Freedom Phalanx Reserve Member Badge, I leveled up to Level 50 in the process. Once I leveled up, I finished off the rest of my build by buying various purple sets and converting them to Ragnarok, which I placed in Piercing Beam. I then exchanged my various merits that I gained (over 700) and used them to get the catalysts needed to convert my Blaster and Winter Set IOs to their Superior sets. With that finished, I ventured to Ouroboros and met up with Mender Ramiel, who helped me on my journey to become an Incarnate. After retrieving the Honoree from a rogue Vanguard officer and retrieving an artifact from an escaped villain Incarnate, I made my way to the location of the well. After fighting my way through the cave, I reached the room where the Well of Furies was supposed to be. However, there was no well, only a trace of what used to be there. With that I managed to unlock my Alpha slot and logged for the night.
  21. Agent V Update - 7/27/21 After running a few side missions, I decided to see if V could complete the Sister Psyche Task Force. After starting the task force, I managed to run through it pretty quickly, finishing around the 58 minute mark. A lot of that was thanks to all but the final three missions were located on Talos Island. I was able to take down Clamor at the end without any issue as she was unable to hit me through the Good Luck that I popped before the battle. I did have a few missions with +2 mobs, but they weren't too bad. After completing the TF, I started the first of the Signature Story Arcs. I managed to race through the arc, finishing around 10 minutes. After finishing that arc, I decided to start on Serpent Drummer's story arc involving the peace conference between the Earth and the Rikti Traditionalist faction. After saving Lady Grey from a Fake Nemesis, I went to rescue members of the peace summit that were taken captive by Nemesis troops. After saving the captives from Nemesis, the Rikti Restructurist faction began attacking various places on the planet. After stopping their various attacks, I went to a nearby Rikti base where I meet up with Faultline, Fusionette, and Traditionalist Psi-Scout Lk'Onik who had ventured into a Rikti base. After saving all three, we came face to face with the Lord of War: Hro'Dtohz. After a tough battle, in which we were ambushed near the end by a Heavy Assault suit sent to aid their leader, we were able to defeat Hro'Dtohz. After finishing up the story arce, I am 1 1/2 levels away from Level 50.
  22. I'm 36. I was just finishing up my first year of college when the game launched and played mostly until sunset.
  23. Agent V Weekend Update - 7/25/21 A lot happened during the weekend with Agent V. I'll give a quick summary of what happened. * I ran Maria Jenkins story arc and took on most of the Praetorian AVs, taking down Marauder, Neuron, and Nightstar down twice, to rescue Positron from Praetoria. * Most of the battles were easy, aside from the Malaise and Mother Mayhem, which was a little dicey due to all the psychic attacks being thrown around. * Manticore and I managed to rescue Positron and completed the story arc which leveled me up to Level 46. * I took down Marauder a third time, gaining the Agent Badge which I now wear with pride after preventing him from escaping back to Praetoria. * I also faced Siege, and managed to defeat him to unlock the Portal Jockey Accolade. giving me a decent boost to HP and Endurance. * I then focused on completing both Harvey Maylor and Unai Kemen story arcs starting with Unai's first. * After rescuing the scientists and retrieving the item needed to restore them, I faced off with Requiem and defeated him to end Unai's story arc. * I then focused on completing Harvey's story arc dealing with the Carnival of Shadows. * After defeating Giovanna Scaldi, I had to defeat Vanessa DeVore, who had managed to learn a lot about her abilities. * After a battle in which she most of her time running away, I was able to defeat her and complete Harvey's story arc. At the end of the arc, I am halfway to level 48.
  24. Agent V Update - 7/21/21 I resumed Maxwell Christopher's arc involving Nemesis while also working on Indigo's arc on the side. I managed to get one mission where the mission objective was near the beginning of the map (got to love those). I eventually managed to get to the mission involving Nosferatu, one of the top members of the Council. After having my first set of mines ruined by a couple of minions, I was able to reset the minefield and begin the fight with Nosferatu. He tried to attack, but he is unable to attack me due to popping a Good Luck before battle. He tries to run, but I manage to get him towards the minefield, which nearly finishes him off (thanks to constant damage from Disintegrate). I was able to finish him off shortly after. After clearing the remaining mobs, I leveled up to Level 44 and regained Evasive Maneuver. A few missions later and it's time to take down Nemesis. After fighting a Mindless Nemesis, I eventually come across the real deal. I messed up my setup by summoning the Gun Bot instead of setting up another mine, but it did get his attention. After waiting on him to release his Personal Force Field, I was able to take him down once and for all. After taking down Nemesis, I completed the remainder of Indigo's arc. I had a couple of tense moments, but in the end, I rescued Melvin Langley from the Malta Group, as well as the British diplomat and Jim 'Thunderhead' Bartlett. After doing a couple of radio missions, I managed to get the Multidimensional Badge after doing a couple of missions involving the Hydra Men. I also fought a trio of EBs: Bile, Thorn, and Baphomet. Bile was a bit tricky due to him landing an X-Ray Beam early in the fight, but he wasn't too difficult. Thorn was the easiest of the trio as it wasn't able to do too much, and Baphomet was only able to land one attack before falling. After a couple of more side missions, I leveled up to Level 45 before logging out for the evening.
  25. Agent V Update - 7/19/21 After arriving at the location that Marauder was spotted, I flew towards his location. I took out any possible allies around him before planting a few trip mines near his location. After summoning my Gun Bot 3000, I sniped the minion next to him. I expected him to try to close the distance, but was surprised to see a boulder hit me from downtown to the tune of 375 damage. I wasn't expecting him to have a lot of range as I attacked him from more than 100 yards out. The fight dragged a little bit, but I was able to hit him with Disintegrate to weaken his regen. Eventually, after avoiding my mines, he ends up getting blown up by the mines and is knocked out. After defeating Marauder, I set up some dimensional scanners that would track any movements from Praetoria before diving into the final mission to stop both Anti-Matter and Neuron. While making my way through the lab, I found three Vanguard soldiers who joined up with me in my mission. We first came across Neuron, who was a level higher than me and my team (and conned purple). After setting up a few mines, I sniped him to get his attention. He then hits me with a Lightning Bolt that did around 300 damage. Thanks to the combined force of my allies and myself, we were able to take down Neuron with little trouble. After taking down Neuron, we made our way upstairs to the room where Anti-Matter was waiting for us. After setting up some trip mines, I sniped Anti-Matter. He and his robot made their way towards my squad where he was not able to hit me at all and we were able to defeat him with no trouble and complete the story arc. After completing that mission, I started up Maxwell Christopher's story arc before heading to bed for the night.
