  1. In a way, I think wealthy players are the inf sinks of the game. I mean, just think about it. What would happen if these players hoarding tons of inf, enhancements, convertors, and whatever other valuable, tradeable stuff all just opened the flood gates and dumped everything onto the AH? Massive bids on everything, tons of rare enhancements and stuff now for sale for cheap, and so on. It'd be economic chaos! But by sitting on billions of inf and having SG bases full of purples for their next half dozen alts, they're actually keeping the market stable! But yeah, the problem of being richer than you can ever feasible use is... not something that can be easily solved. Add something in for the super wealthy and poor 13-inf-Joe is going to start complaining that they can't have it too and that it's too expensive and grindy. And even if you ignore them, that's still limited dev resources being spent on pleasing a small handful of players. Anything in game is just asking for trouble. But ummm, I guess you could have something set-up where you could spend 1 or more billion to have a gold forum name for a month? Something like that? No clue. And personally, I've not chased insane wealth because I don't want to smash face first into the, ummm, I think Law Of Diminishing Marginal Utility is the right one.
  2. Don't forget about Anti-Matter! After the Keys Trial, he came down with a severe case of explosions. It's terribly contagious, which is why he went underground to keep it from spreading to other people who weren't Devouring Earth before he succumbed to the disease.
  3. Off the top of my head, I'd go with Blazing Blast. Nothing like shooting someone with a laser of fire and sending them flying backwards, complete with over the top arm flailing!
  4. The pseudopet thing does make me slightly sad in one respect. I had a Ice/Kin Corr on Live I intended to get up high enough to behold the glory of Scourging Blizzards with the old higher damage, end crashing version at Blaster scale after a Fulcrum Shift. But didn't manage it and I won't ever get the chance these days.
  5. I don't want to zip through the content because I'm usually there for the content, not the rewards. I mean, there are times where I do wanna just zip through something, with Synapse incidentally being the one TF I'm most likely to wish to do so because a major accolade is locked behind it and I'd probably not even give Synapse a sideways glance if that accolade wasn't there. But otherwise, if I'm making or joining a TF, I'm there for the journey, not the destination. But then again, I'll usually avoid Speed TFs for that very reason. Usually because sometimes it'll be for Synapse or Citadel and I'll just be like "screw it, just get it over with." Really wish that accolade wasn't tied to those task forces >.> I might end up just living with out.
  6. Ah, gotcha. Well, no idea which model of keyboard this is then. All I can say is its black, it has green back lighting, it's from Razor, and it's like 6 or so years old. If you're able to travel back in time to go shopping, I'd recommend whatever model I got.
  7. Most of Burn's damage, at least on the Sentinel, is front loaded. It's like a small nuke! It does scatter enemies a bit, but I took x/x/Fire AoE immobilize to help with that (and for more burnination). Good to know that Blaster has Rain and Burn though! Worth keeping in mind if I want a squishier burn the world character!
  8. Errr, yes, I did say I had a Razor keyboard. Never had a razor mouse though.
  9. From what I'm reading in this topic, sounds like I'm lucky my Razor keyboard has been holding up so well. Granted, the thing is from like 2015, so maybe that was when their quality was better? It's outlived several mice from different manufacturers, at least! (A Logitech, a Corsair, and a... I forget but it was a clearance mouse anyway and I didn't like it a ton.) Don't remember which model it is though. Likely a Death-something. My current mouse though is from some little brand called PICTEK and... well, only a year and a half with it but I quite enjoy the thing. Could be a little bit bigger and the third thumb button is in a forgettable spot for me so I neglect to use it, but it's otherwise pretty comfy and rather good for the price point. Good grip, two good thumb buttons (which I've kinda gotten addicted to, don't think I can go back to a 3-button), customizable sensitivity, customizable lighting. Probably a good one to look at if you're on a budget since, if memory serves, it's like in the $20-30 price range. I have the lighting on the thing set to only trigger on clicks and movements, which is kinda cool, but no clue how much that's extending the lighting's lifetime versus having it constantly on and shifting colors or doing whatever other fancy programming tricks to it.
  10. Is the problem that Sentinels don't do enough damage? Or is the real problem that Blasters are too durable? 🤔 Of course, everyone loves softcapping all the things, so I fully expect to get shot for that line. Anyway, I only have one Sentinel. A Fire/Fire/Fire and one of my two 50s since I play very off and on and am usually in no rush to level cap. And... honestly? She's a lot of fun, even at 50. Granted, I didn't try to build optimal but rather focused on setting everything on fire. I probably have some needless attacks- no, I most likely really do not need the fire breath at least. But I wanted it because I wanted to literally spit fire. I wanted a relatively sturdy character without IO softcapping* who can set the enemies on fire and the ground on fire and the air is on fire and you're on fire and I'm on fire and WHY IS EVERYTHING ON FIRE!?!?!? And the Sentinel delivered on that in spades. Besides, not sure anyone else has access to both Rain of Fire AND Burn. From what I understand, Fire/ is the outlier for Sentinel blasts in how well it performs (not that I was aware of that before making the alt), however, and a lot of Sentinel stuff is a bit undertuned. They probably need some nudges upwards in some respects, but they definitely ain't useless. *Since I hate softcapping non-defense sets, even if that "gimps" me compared to others, but it at least makes the Force Field user happy. Before you slot up to 900% Smashing/Lethal defense again, think of the poor and neglected bubblers!
  11. IMO, unless its specifically a speed run or one of the truly awful TFs or the mission is egregiously far, I kinda get annoyed at constant TT spam because I am not a kid anymore. Yeah, that kinda runs contrary, but think of it from another perspective. Travel time is white space. It gives me a moment to wind down from the last mission, catch my breath, refocus, maybe take a quick bio break, and, most, most, most importantly, rest my hands and wrists. I'm not a kid anymore: some games like CoH will leave my arms and wrists hurting if I play either too long or don't have that couple minute break in travel time where I can set auto-run and just focus on idle maneuvering rather than mashing all the buttons. It can make the difference between being done for the day after the task force to prevent injury or being able to keep playing for a few hours more, free-time depending, with no issue whatsoever. So yeah, when you're trying to figure out where you can shave two minutes here and there, please keep in mind some people might prefer a slower pace for health reasons! And if you're wondering why they don't mention it more? Well, not everyone wants to share their health issues with strangers.
  12. No, since I understand even a micro-mez on every blast/melee attack could be a bit overpowered. If I were to sit down and choose a theme for it back at launch, I probably would have gone with a (chance to) arc to enemies near the target with diminished damage. And probably replaced one or more of the AoEs, like Ball Lightning or Thunderstrike, with some sort of chain lightning effect like Jolting Chain. But, this far along? No, far too late. Stripping end drain for a different effect would jack with too many people's characters, especially all the people building their Electric Blast/Melee/Affinity/whatever as sappers. So it is what it is these days.
  13. -Old AMA mentioned the middle of Perez Park being lifted into the sky by Incarnate-tier Circle of Thorns. The edges/streets of the park were going to remain the same level as is. That'd be pretty cool -Galaxy City as a (high level) hazard zone. Maybe home to a Shivan giant monster? Definitely should be some storyline there, probably involving Battalion. A PvP zone would make sense too, but PvP is pretty niche. -There was supposed to show down with Praetorian Hamidon to cap Praetorian content off, but the devs were skipping that to go to Battalion due to people tired of Praetoria. Which... kinda lame when you're right at the end and just cutting the ending off. So, Praetorian Hamidon showdown! Maybe make it the high level Gold-side zone too so gold-siders can 1 to 50 without AE or going Red/Blue. -I have a feeling a lot of older cast would be steadily offed, whether by death or other effects, to make room for the player characters to shine and do everything as the various characters had their arcs concluded. Some would definitely stay though, likely the popular ones like Manticore. You can definitely see the transition in newer content, especially at high level. You ain't doing things that's beneath Positron's notice, Positron is doing things that are beneath your notice.
  14. Well, I mean, technically end drain could be applied to almost anything. Being set on fire is pretty exhausting after you're done waving your arms, screaming in pain, and stopping to drop and roll, for example. Or more boring, heat exhaustion effects. But really, I dunno what would be the "end drain" element of the game if not electricity. Might've ended up like other effects, such as -Regen, which isn't really tied to an element as far as I can recall. The Defender explanation is probably along the real reason for it. Or it having a debuff anyway. A "chance to hold/stun/sleep" on every power might have stepped on Controller's toes too much at the time while a "chance to arc from nearby victims to other foes" probably woulda been more Blastery. But never noticed that Defenders are the same at sapping as everyone else though. That is certainly strange. Defender Energy should knock targets back farther!
  15. Bear in mind this isn't me complaining or asking for a change here. Rather, I'm more curious behind the thematic reasons of why electricity had "endurance drain" chosen as its theme. It always felt a little weird to me that was what it got when most games that I've encountered tend to have electric theme itself with arcing or convulsions in some form or another, such as chain lightning, paralysis, etc. Meanwhile, for a couple of other examples, Fire tends to have damage over time and Ice has slows, which are both common and make expected thematic sense. But our zippy zappys are more stamina leeches rather than zippy zaps as far as effect goes. I doubt anyone here can do anything but speculate, but yeah, I've always wondered why does lightning leech endurance instead of doing more traditional zappy stuff?
  16. I would definitely question any developer who is actively calling any given player base "toxic." I mean, yeah, there's jerks everywhere and many insular communities definitely do feel like they are the safest, most open places to be, I am not going to argue that. But there's a certain degree of professionalism and higher standards that developers, volunteer or not, or anyone in similar roles or positions anywhere that is expected when they are on their own platform or representing such. So, while I know nothing of Thunderspy outside of this topic, a developer coming in here talking about how the community is dying or that other servers are more toxic or whatever definitely does not endear me towards Thunderspy, unfortunately. While I understand you're a regular person and all, just keep in mind your position, if your claim is legit, does require more finesse in interacting with a community, whether your own or others, and does leave you more open to scrutiny and critique, whether you want it or not. Not going to comment on your own experiences on Homecoming beyond the obligatory "I've not had that myself" or "things look about the same here as they do any other smaller, tight-knit community". But again, every community has its share of jerks and and "open-minded" folk who'll gut you the moment you share an opposing opinion.
  17. Sounds like a perfectly normal Synapse to me. But I kinda loathe the impatient crack bunny speed a lot of PUGs in this game and other games seem to have these days. Like, are we here to play the game or just skip as much game to get to the rewards? To be fair, Synapse is a bit sloggy and I do wish it'd get shortened. But like... I wanna actually play the missions as intended! I tend not to own Team Teleport or stealth powers since I rarely ever need them or use them. I sometimes have the ATT from Steel Canyon Safeguard/Mayhem, but don't count on it. Anyway, you want a bad Synapse? I got a bad Synapse. A really friggin' bad Synapse. First time attempting it back on Live years ago and was with all, or maybe just mostly, SG mates and people from the main server channels (Jello Shooters on Protector if memory serves). Good solid group, people I could rely on, and not a single bit of difficulty or drama from any of them typically. So, why was this the nightmare of all nightmare TFs? MAP SERVER ERRORS! Every other mission it seemed we'd go into the mission and get greeted with a skybox and a map server error. The entire team. When it happened the first couple of times, oh how innocent and naive we were to think it was just a fluke. Oh how naive we were! By the time we realized it wasn't going to stop, we were already embedded in a sunk cost fallacy, especially since not all of us had time to sit down and casually run Synapse at other times. I'd contacted the GM for every map server, waited 5-15 minutes for them to respond, and for them to reset the mission, sometimes twice, before we could finally go on. By the end of it, one of the GMs had gotten us like three or four times and was, in polite GM speak, like "Oh, it's you guys again." I don't remember the completion time, but I wanna say it was something close to 4 hours. Four long, miserable hours, about half of which was getting nuked, rebooting the game, waiting for GM responses, talking to the GM, then doing their thing, and sometimes having to turn around and pester them immediately because hey it wasn't working still. I'm pretty sure we lost two or three people during the run. They were the smart ones. But, I at least got my TF accolade, so yay for that?
  18. Yup, Mystic Flight was active.
  19. No idea if this applies to otherer Flight powers or not. Respecced a character who was flying with Mystic Flight and respecced out of the power entirely with no other flight powers taken or available, including temporary powers. After the respec, the character was locked into flying, albeit very, very slowly with very bad control. Logging out and back in cleared the flight status and returned her to normal.
  20. There's some things I feel a bit of nostalgia for that I miss but don't miss. Like Stamina at 20. Unlocking it always felt good. Once you had it you knew things would be a smoother experience from then on. It was a good feeling. But I really would not miss the 19 levels before that. Not. One. Bit. Same with travel powers at 14, DOs at 12, SOs at 22, and so on. The breakpoints were nice but the prior experience was miserable. Sometimes it made for good stories, like everyone's shared Hollows adventures. Telling the whippersnappers who won't get off my lawn about how I got stuck in the crater of the Hollows with no way to safely escape until I discovered a "Pocket D VIP Pass" in my powers list, used it, and then safely got lost in the Tiki Lounge and Pocket D for half an hour until I stumbled into Talos Island makes for a fun story, sure. But it ain't a story I'd want to relive either. Or another in that vein: veteran rewards. Used to look forward to them and such so much and was always excited to get something new. But, in hindsight? CoH's monetary model definitely wasn't the greatest, especially when "Freedom" reared its ugly head. Eesh. For things I actually do miss? -I wish the game didn't actively try to hide a lot of old content these days. Yeah, a bunch of it is bad, but, you know, options. Sometimes I don't want to bypass the lowbie levels but also not replay the same new KR Skulls storyline. I know how to get to the other contacts, but I wish I didn't have to go out of my way for 'em. -High level balance, or the lack thereof. Fully kitted IO builds were one thing back in the day. But back then people weren't super charging their attacks by proc muling them all, so it mostly just meant the Blaster didn't splat as much because he had a lot of defense. But these days, it feels like once you get into the higher level content it's basically just a rolling Judgement nuke fest for most PUGs with difficulty set to 0 or even -1. If it is +4, then people are exclusively targetting massive threats like... radio mission Council. I know I can just make my own teams with my own stipulations, and really ought to just do that, but I wish I could just join random high level PUGs and actually expect to need to pay attention. -The lack of the Alpha level shift. I want my +4 to actually be +4 again, thanks. Incarnate content is, funny enough, worse. The non-Trial content that should be harder and actually require the level and incarnate shifts is just straight up easier. But yeah, kinda stinks that once you upgrade the Alpha you're forced to add +1 to your difficulty, or permanently have an easier game if you're already at +4, for no real reason. -Galaxy City. Okay, I almost never used it, but it was nice when I wanted to lowbie away from the crowds! -Offensive toggles shutting off on target death. I know a lot, maybe even most, prefer the new system. But the old system meant there was one less thing to keep up with since the toggles would drop automatically once the toughest dude was down and I wouldn't get caught at the next spawn with my toggles still running on a corpse somewhere behind me. Sorry if that comes off a bit complainy or whiney. But, aside from the generic "Miss the people I used to play with" type of deal, those are what come to mind. Game is generally in a much better state now and I'll take having these complaints over having a past version of the game.
  21. Super slow response, but I've literally not accessed the forums in months myself so I couldn't see this sooner, but thought I'd chime in here if you're still wondering on this. This might not be as helpful for lower levels, but my usual game plan is Fireball from max range > chase it with Savage Leap (both hit about the same time) > Rending Flurry > ST chain whatever's the most threatening and Rending and Fireball off cooldown. Second Rending Flurry usually exhausts, at which I Blood Thirst to clear it and get all my stacks back. Third Rending Flurry exhausts too, but at that point it doesn't matter since the fight is usually close to over if it lasts that long. DON'T BE AFRAID TO EXHAUST. 5-stack Rending Flurry is pretty awesome and its worth burning the stacks on and Blood Thirst will clear Exhaust instantly. IMO, don't open with Blood Thirst unless you just really need the burst or you're focusing a single target, in which case you don't want to Rending anyway. Single target chain is either Vicious Slash > Savage Strike > Maiming Slash > repeat or Vicious > Maiming > Savage > Maiming > repeat depending on recharge. I think the former has higher DPS, but the latter usually feels better to me. Either way, Savage doesn't have a big hitter for Scrappers (Hemmorage is pretty underwhelming and I skipped it, but I hear it's great on Stalkers) so you just rely on constant, steady attacks. Shred makes for an ok gap filler earlier on when your recharge is lower, but otherwise it's a pretty significant DPS loss unless you're managing to hit max targets all the time. If you reach Incarnate levels, one thing that might help is Reactive Radial on Interface, which gives a high chance for a Fire dot over time. I took it for concept reasons (same with Pyre), but the Fire helps quite a bit with the heavily lethal resistant enemies. Anyway, if you're still struggling with them and still interested in trying to make that work, then I hope that helps!
  22. Another use for them is, if you're going into a PvP area for Shivan Shards, Warburg Nukes, or whatever and some Stalker or something keeps harassing you, then just put them in timeout for a moment.
  23. I've not attempted a Solo ITF. But a long time ago in the yonder years before Incarnate powers and a lot of other stuff, I duoed the ITF with a friend. One positioning trick we picked up for Romulus can really neuter his effectiveness. Basically, if this displays as it should, find a hard edge corner and position like this. | | | | N ------- R Y N= Nictus R= Romulus Y= You If you do it right, Romulus and the Nictus will be close enough not to trigger any leashing, but they will be out of LOS to each other. This means Romulus will get neither healing from the healing Nictus nor any ressurrections. So, if you can face tank everything being thrown at you (and maybe have a Taunt to keep Rommy in place), then you can kill him here and then deal with the Nictus at your leisure. I did it as a BS/SR Scrapper backed by an Emp/Dark Defender back in the day. A solo-character might find this a good bit trickier since you cannot kite or die at all otherwise all of your progress will be undone in a flash. But, who knows, might be useful for a solo-attempt?
  24. Empathy/Pain Domination, just for the sake of having all the heals. All of them.
  25. Other Scrappers laugh at me for taking Confront. I laugh at them when they're chasing a running mob across the map. ...but seriously, the eagerness for the A.I. to hightail it is sometimes a little ridiculous. I totally understand dodging the damage patches, that makes perfect sense. I understand thematic running, like purse snatchers or gray-con mobs encountering an angry super being +10 levels to them. But other times, it's like I breathe on a level 54+6(+1000) AV and it'll wet its pants and run away at first opportunity. At least Taunt effects keeps them more under control. I imagine my Scrapper's Confront is less taunting them and stuff and just yelling at them to come back.
