  1. I would like to try tanking. I don't think I'd be good at it and my SG seems to think it's not possible, but I'd like to earn some debt and try it at some point. Thank you so much for the build. This will be priceless once I get comfy. Tanking with FF is something Id like to work my way to, but for now, I'd like to keep it closer to traditional.
  2. When I initially built this character on live, there were no set bonuses. I wanted to use the tentacles, primarily, and built a Lovecraftian theme that fit that, but I wanted a primary I rarely saw. I chose Force fields because they felt different and rare. It wasn't emp, or rad, or kin and that made it feel special. I've been playing around with mine a tiny bit since Homecoming started and I decided to try my hand at building it in Pines. I used a mix of Philotic Knight's bible to help figure out what needed to be done in the main power set, and those slots are almost pulled straight from the guide. Unfortunately, this guide was also written before set bonuses came into play, so I'm not too sure how to build those of if they need to be reworked for the current game. I also used a selection of dark guides to help with slotting the secondary, and I feel mostly ok on those slots. Mostly. It also gets tricky with how I slot my power pools and Ancillary pool. I'm not sure I want Leadership pool, and Sorcery isn't slotted at all beyond fly. Both of those pools are half theme, half because I needed to fill power slots. Psychic Mastery is a theme as well. Unfortunately, this comes with no understanding of how these powers work (IE, I don't think I need mind over body because of the bubbles, and mass hypnosis seems like a bad choice due to all the AOEs/team nature of the character). Currently The build is at 47, placing slots for 48. I don't know where to stick my last five slots. Please rip this apart and give whatever feedback you can. Things I'm looking for -How is my slotting? What needs to be changed/addressed? What would you replace the generic IOs with? -What sets should I be putting in my primary? I'm not sure what would work for force field and I haven't seen many modern guides. -How should I be slotting Sorcery? This fits the theme. Spirit Ward seems weird, and Arcane bolt is just another attack. Enflame and Rune of Protection seem unnecessary -Leadership is filling a slot for powers that I feel is the only choice to take. These powers will be run as is, most likely, unless my slotting is jacked up. Suggestions? -Suggestions for final powers? I'm not married to tactics at 47 -Last 5 slots? I feel like the power pools and ancillary pool are an afterthought (they are) and that I should be putting more in the mains power set. -Psychic Mastery - I want world of confusion; it feels like it fits my theme and sounds like the most 'fun' power. I don't know how to view the remainder though, and Mind of Body seems unnecessary? -What am I forgetting/overlooking? Do I REEEAALLLYYY need to take fighting? If so, "should" this replace leadership? I know this build will never be the best, but it's fun, and force fields always seemed to make people excited when I played years ago. I know that's a lot to look at/into, but any feedback is welcome. =D Thanks! 3. Drat. Thats what someone suggested it might be in chat, but they weren't sure. Thanks for the info. Looks like it's time to wish in one hand, lol
  4. Tonight I was running "A New Dimension, A New Team" and encountered a really cool NPC power set I didn't know. There is an NPC named Aurora Pena that you get through the arc with a super cool energy whip power set. Does anyone know what this one is? Is this an NPC power set? It looks awesome and I'd love to try it our, but I legit can't think what it may be. Thanks!
  5. That would explain a lot. Sadly, I think it's the only power that fits the theme. There aren't many tech/natural choices. I may think about Mace mastery, but unsure. Also makes sense about FA. That's a good idea. :) To make sure I'm understanding how you suggest Body Armor two slotted Gladiator's Armor TP protection/3% def all Steadfast Protection Resistance/+Def 3% Most of the slotting I'm going to mimic what Adeon has. I may play with Smoke grenade and targeting drone a little more to get some of the set bonuses, though I'm not sure yet. Thank you for the feedback!
  6. This is an unfinished build I'm working on based on Adeon's work. I'm missing a lot due to my unfamiliarity with some of the sets, espeically when it comes to the Munitions set(I legit cannot find any posts with info about it outside of the Wiki). Any feedback or info would be welcome. I'm currently sitting at 38 in game and i've hit this weird place where i'm unable to progress because I don't have a path forward and am paralyzed by choice, so I figure'd I'd reach out, lol Hero Plan by Mids' Hero Designer 1.962 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build! 34: Level 50 Natural Blaster Primary Power Set: Assault Rifle Secondary Power Set: Devices Power Pool: Speed Power Pool: Leaping Power Pool: Leadership Ancillary Pool: Munitions Mastery Hero Profile: Level 1: Burst (A) Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage (3) Thunderstrike - Damage/Endurance (5) Thunderstrike - Damage/Recharge (9) Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage/Recharge (15) Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage/Endurance (19) Thunderstrike - Damage/Endurance/Recharge Level 1: Web Grenade (A) Empty Level 2: Slug (A) Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage (3) Thunderstrike - Damage/Endurance (5) Thunderstrike - Damage/Recharge (9) Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage/Recharge (15) Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage/Endurance (19) Thunderstrike - Damage/Endurance/Recharge Level 4: Buckshot (A) Positron's Blast - Accuracy/Damage (7) Positron's Blast - Damage/Endurance (11) Positron's Blast - Damage/Recharge (23) Positron's Blast - Accuracy/Damage/Endurance (25) Positron's Blast - Chance of Damage(Energy) (27) Range IO Level 6: Hasten (A) Recharge Reduction IO (7) Recharge Reduction IO Level 8: M30 Grenade (A) Accuracy IO (27) Damage Increase IO (33) Damage Increase IO (37) Damage Increase IO (39) Recharge Reduction IO (39) Endurance Reduction IO Level 10: Targeting Drone (A) Adjusted Targeting - To Hit Buff (11) Adjusted Targeting - To Hit Buff/Endurance (31) Adjusted Targeting - To Hit Buff/Endurance/Recharge (43) Empty (46) Empty (48) Empty Level 12: Sniper Rifle (A) Sting of the Manticore - Accuracy/Damage (13) Sting of the Manticore - Damage/Endurance/Recharge (13) Sting of the Manticore - Damage/Endurance (17) Sting of the Manticore - Damage/Interrupt/Recharge (21) Sting of the Manticore - Chance of Damage(Toxic) Level 14: Super Speed (A) Blessing of the Zephyr - Run Speed, Jump, Flight Speed, Range (36) Blessing of the Zephyr - Knockback Reduction (4 points) Level 16: Smoke Grenade (A) Dampened Spirits - To Hit Debuff (17) Dampened Spirits - To Hit Debuff/Recharge/Endurance (31) Dampened Spirits - To Hit Debuff/Endurance Level 18: Caltrops (A) Empty Level 20: Field Operative (A) Endurance Modification IO (21) Endurance Modification IO (31) Healing IO (37) Numina's Convalesence - +Regeneration/+Recovery (39) Empty (40) Empty Level 22: Flamethrower (A) Accuracy IO (23) Damage Increase IO (25) Damage Increase IO (29) Damage Increase IO (29) Recharge Reduction IO (34) Endurance Reduction IO Level 24: Super Jump (A) Empty Level 26: Assault (A) Endurance Reduction IO Level 28: Trip Mine (A) Accuracy IO Level 30: Combat Jumping (A) Blessing of the Zephyr - Run Speed, Jump, Flight Speed, Range (36) Blessing of the Zephyr - Knockback Reduction (4 points) Level 32: Full Auto (A) Accuracy IO (33) Damage Increase IO (33) Damage Increase IO (34) Damage Increase IO (34) Recharge Reduction IO (37) Endurance Reduction IO Level 35: Body Armor (A) Empty (36) Empty (40) Empty (42) Empty Level 38: Gun Drone (A) Empty (40) Empty (42) Empty (43) Empty (45) Empty (45) Empty Level 41: Surveillance (A) Empty (42) Empty (43) Empty (46) Empty (48) Empty Level 44: LRM Rocket (A) Empty (45) Empty (46) Empty (50) Empty (50) Empty (50) Empty Level 47: Maneuvers (A) Empty (48) Empty Level 49: Vengeance (A) Empty Level 1: Brawl (A) Empty Level 1: Defiance Level 1: Prestige Power Dash (A) Empty Level 1: Prestige Power Slide (A) Empty Level 1: Prestige Power Quick (A) Empty Level 1: Prestige Power Rush (A) Empty Level 1: Prestige Power Surge (A) Empty Level 1: Sprint (A) Empty Level 2: Rest (A) Empty Level 4: Ninja Run Level 2: Swift (A) Empty Level 2: Health (A) Healing IO Level 2: Hurdle (A) Empty Level 2: Stamina (A) Endurance Modification IO ------------
  7. So, this is my rough set up at 33. I'm not too sure on some of the slotting, and what levels they came in at, but I think it's close to what I took as I ran. I'm confident on the basic/SO/IO slotting of the attacks (3 dam, 1 acc, 1end red, 1 recharge), but not too sure when you get into sets. I do have a few random Set IOs scattered around, like some of the run ones, but not sure where those are sitting besides my slotting for Smoke Grenade and Targeting Drone. I'm thinking about respecing before I go too much further to pull my IOs out and replace them with some sets, just not sure it's worth it at 33. I'm trying to work my way to Sting of the Manticore for Sniper Rifle, but it looks like it still does 15% less damage than 3 slotting Damage IOs until I get to 50(which increases the damage gap). Currently, with three 30 Damage IOs, it's like, 2% hp left on most minions of my level. I'm trying to squeeze that extra damage out with the chance for toxic damage and the 3% damage boost Manticore's set gives, but I think I'm coming up short. Even with the slotting of Smoke Grenade and Targeting Drone I've started below. I haven't stuck those in, am still picking up the last two I need before I try it. I JUST put sets into Smoke Grenade and Targeting Drone, but I'm not sure how they run yet. Will try sometime this week, or Sunday. I'm not sure of the three slotting of Targeting drone. I noticed one level 35 IO plus the basic to hit buff from Adjusted Targeting was enough to hit insta-snipe with 1 level 30 accuracy IO in Sniper Rifle. I've not committed to the other two in the set yet, but I think the math checks out as more acc/end reduction with the set. Also, the third set bonus of 1.26% seems worthless? But I need three to make the math work out to make it better than one IO for end reduction and to hit buff... I'm conflicted. Smoke Grenade: Dampened Spirits: To Hit Debuff Dampened Spirits:To Hit Debuff//Endurance Dampened Spirits: To Hit Debuff/Recharge/Endurance Set Bonus 2% dam and 1.8% max endurance Targeting Drone (potentially): Adjusted Targeting: To Hit Buff/ Adjusted Targeting: To Hit Buff/Endurance Adjusted Targeting: To Hit Buff/Recharge/Endurance Set Bonus 2% dam and 1.26% energy/negative energy resistance The rest of the powers are all basic IOs (minus the few random ones I can't remember). I honestly am having the hardest time determining what sets to put in what powers beyond the two above =/ I noticed that my Full Auto also has a few more slots. I don't know If I missed slots somewhere, but the powers here vs in game are down a few slots. I'm thinking one or two of the levels Pre 32 gave three slots instead of two, but I'll be damned if I can find where i'm missing it. You can use this for reference if you want, though. Anyone else is free to rip this apart and provide any other feedback as well. Adeon Hawkwood did give some feedback regarding the possibility of 6 slotting Field Operative in the Sustain thread that seems super interesting, but I haven't been able to look into yet. Its full of stuff I haven't learned yet, lol I also cannot remember if Hasten should be two or three slotted to get as close to perma hasten as you can. I think it's two, but based on ED schedules, it might actually be three. Hero Plan by Mids' Hero Designer 1.962 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build! 8. Oh wow, that's a good set up to dig into! Thanks! How would this stack with Stamina? Would it be worth two slotting that still, or would that be overkill on recovery? I've been looking at that set list and have been (SLOWLY) trying to use it to build into Targeting Drone and Smoke Grenade, but that's off topic. My main issue is I'm not sure how to determine what globals should go in what powers, and what procs should go into what powers, let alone how to determine when those should be placed in lieu of other, more 'traditional' enhanecments
  9. How would you six slot Field Op? I'm super interested in this but I cannot find anything on this despite my own questions here or on reddit/etc. I keep seeing "put things like Miracle or Numina's special in there," and things like that, but I have no idea what Numina's special is lol. I know it's a set IO, but i'm so far lost on the set/invention IOs that I'm struggling to learn them. I know there are things like procs and globals, but I've still yet to figure out how they work or would fit into these powers. If you even just have some light reading that isn't the wiki, i'd love that, too, just so I can get a base understanding about HOW to find what works in a power. :)
  10. Graphically it is the same as it used to be. You can see the costume, but its super transparent, like it used to be. From what I understand of it, it is a must take. Every blaster has a 'sustain' power with helps with regen and recovery so your health and stam come back faster. It not longer COSTS stamina and you are pretty invisible. It also has +def (i don't remember if it did), but its 2.x%. I'm not sure if that's worth slotting for and I haven't seen any numbers
  11. From what I understand, field operative and stamina stack so you may not need as many. I currently run two end mods in both at level 32 and I'm not running into many issues short of teams that tend to run a super rapid pace. You have field operative taken at 20. Stick a second slot in this sooner (21 if you can). Also, do not put more than three of the same enhancement into something. ED makes it so you get a reduction of efficiency after three of the same. For instance, in this set up, the first two enhancements (if SOs) will get you 33%, the third is 27.x%, and fourth onward is a MASSIVE 5% boost. Those last three slots are a waste that you can place in any other power. Beyond that, I'm still unsure of how to slot field operative since it's change from cloaking device. At 38 you've taken hasten. I recommend that much earlier in the build(i took it at 4 and my third attack at 8). I only have it two slotted, but that's because I can't remember if a third slot is worth it or not =/ Put the other two somewhere else since permahasten hasn't worked since ED. Swap ammo has no slots. Is this on purpose? I don't know cause I've never played pistol. I also don't know how effective the fighting pool is on blasters. I've never taken it because I never had the powers to spare to get to the last two things. Fitness is now given to every toon. I don't think this is represented in the hero planners of old, so that can get you a few more power choices. Unfortunately, those powers don't come with slots. Encouraged accuracy is something I'm going to be looking into for targeting drone, though. Same with discouraging words. :D I'm not super up on set bonuses, so thanks! From what I just saw, these stop being semi useful in the 20s. :(
  12. Unless it changed, most attacks are 3 dam, 1 acc, 1 recharge reduction, and 1 end reduction; ignite may be an exception to this, but I've never played with it much. Running two end mods in field operative and stamina and I rarely have issues.
  13. This is my basic build. Years ago I took SS as my travel power since it was the one i thought was least 'super' and could be most 'real.' In the time after I also added SJ just because the lack of vertical movement was kind of a draw back. Are there any good slotting guides for /Dev specifically? I'm stuck on anything that isn't an attack. Right now I'm not too sure what to stick where. So far I have web nade: immobilize Drone end reduction: to hit buff caltrops: slow smoke: to hit debuff, empty? (accuracy? another debuff?) field operative: 2 end mod (defense seems useless here?) trip mine: accuracy
  14. Gun Powder

    Sustain?

I'm at a loss at how to slot this power (Field Operative). Currently I'm using 2 end mods, like if it was Stamina, but I'm not sure if that's too much or if i should be slotting other things. The def bonus seems... not good; its like 33% with an SO of a 2.1% bonus. Am I missing something?
