  1. I had the same problem - I was running fine even last night until it started downloading something this morning. My system bluescreened during the update and then Tequila consistently started crashing upon startup. Running as administrator and deleting the .xml also did not fix it. Downloading a new copy of Tequila and running that also did not fix...still crashes immediately upon startup. At this moment, my only resolution was to drop the new Tequila into a new folder and start downloading the game again. Since the same copy won't launch in my old folder but will in the empty folder, I suspect there's other bad data in the old folder that needs to be deleted. Here's the Windows crash data from mine: Description: Stopped working Problem signature: Problem Event Name: CLR20r3 Problem Signature 01: tequila.exe Problem Signature 02: 1.0.0.20 Problem Signature 03: 5797a26a Problem Signature 04: System.Xml Problem Signature 05: 2.0.0.0 Problem Signature 06: 5a154e05 Problem Signature 07: 6f2 Problem Signature 08: 27 Problem Signature 09: System.Xml.XmlException OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Read our privacy statement online: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=104288&clcid=0x0409 If the online privacy statement is not available, please read our privacy statement offline: C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt

    Day Job Badges

That's how I remember it working as well. Additionally, I remember there were a few places that you could earn two day job badges at once, but I no longer have a list of them and could not find a guide showing these offhand. The good news is that it looks like time to earn a day job has been shortened to around 5 days...it used to be 21 days per badge.
  4. Interesting, I may have to give this a try to silence those pet demon howls. Nothing is more annoying than a demon-summoning MM parked next to you in the tailor or by a trainer while you're working on something.
  5. It's been awhile, but I think I normally leveled from 1-32 using DOs and then SOs when available. Once I hit 32, I would craft a full set of generic IOs to hold me until 50. At that time, I would craft a full set of level 50 IOs while I was working on my sets.
  6. I think I found it, looks like it was part of "VM_Mappack_with_VIP" packaged with the Vidiot Maps and was called "Power Icon Correction" by Vanden. I managed to find an old install file that I had downloaded in 2008. It's allowing me to install this as a separate option without the rest of Vidiot Maps (since I already have those installed).
  7. I'm fine with the current naming convention, and I say that as someone who lost a couple of names on Homecoming that I had since launch in CoH on Virtue. Just like the game was originally, it forces us to be more creative. Even in the comics, there's only one "Captain Marvel" in Marvel comics at a time, but then there was also Miss Marvel, Mar-Vell, etc. in existence. I think it breaks the uniqueness of characters and part of the superhero genre a bit to have several characters running around with the exact same name in the same universe. Take some time and come up with something unique for your character, they deserve it. Creating new characters through the original life of CoH forced me to do that, and I was able to get about 90% of my character names on Homecoming because they were unique enough from previously. The couple I lost were based on more common words/names anyway, so I adapted for them.
  8. Back in 2004, Marvel did sue Cryptic Studios over City of Heroes since it was possible to create a character resembling their IP in the character creator. From what I recall, Marvel lost. That aside, it's up to the Homecoming team if they want to enforce players creating homages or even outright ripoff of established characters from Marvel, DC, etc. Personally, I don't see much reason to given that this whole game is currently unauthorized anyway and carries its own risks.
  9. So way back in the day, I remember there was a small graphics mod which replaced the bland temp power icons granted from accolades and looked pretty spiffy. I can't find my install file for this, and can't recall what it was called for the life of me to see if it's still out there to be downloaded. I have a screenshot below from 2008 where you can see I've got these installed for Tray 3 in the middle three temp powers (Vanguard Medal, Eye of the Magus, and Elusive Mind.) Does anyone still have this file or recall what this patch was called? I want to say it was an optional file from VidiotMaps but certainly won't swear to that.
  10. My first strong memory of CoH had to be within my first week or two of playing (started on launch day). I was just starting to get out of Atlas Park and into other zones when a group apparently had been running the Clockwork TF...because out of nowhere came a giant two-three story tall Clockwork AV stomping down the street! I hadn't seen anything else like that in the game to that point (just the tiny little clockworks) and was utterly awe-struck.
  11. I've had a lot of characters over the years and currently have 24 previous characters that I want to play through again, but these are two of my favorite designs: Samurai Onryo - Dual Blades/Fire Brute San Venganza - Dual pistols/ninja Sentinel Most of my characters are not based on a vengeance theme, these two just happened to fit :)
