  1. With the Earth changes, I feel I can make a non-granite tank that fits my needs as there is protection against pretty much everything. But I can't lock down my secondary. I like Ice melee for the DPS/damage type/ and lots of control built in. But I also love staff for the speed and feel of it but also I believe it is good dps as well with some minor control. I've also heard to go radiation melee. Can someone who knows...with all the IO procs and such that I am not familiar with, which set has the most DPS potential? Something as simple as first, second, third. But I also want to know if there is a large gap between 1 and 2 etc. I am not really interested in any other set outside of Fire. Also is there a list anywhere of the defensive/resist potential of each tanker? Its so hard to determine what tank set when I dont know the potential of each type of tank in defensive terms Thanks

    I am hoping someone could help me build a Water/Ice corrupter that is going to pair up with a Rad/Rad Brute. I plan to take Frostwork to assist with resist/HP for her. Obviously the shields really help Rad (plugs a lot of the holes) but I want to be self suffice-cent. Also would like some mez protection. I am not very good at IO's but would also like a build that isnt horrible if I go back to do lower level stuff. I have a 50 tank that I can farm money if needed but between the both of us I just want to be support/dps to her brute. Thanks
  4. Could really use some thoughts. Seems like I can add procs to DNA Siphon...would that and the dps aura of Bio bring it up to par for DPS compared to Radiation?
  5. I currently have a Bio/Fire melee tanker and love him so far but just started to hit mobs that debuffed my recharge rate and well I didn't like it lol. I did some research and found that is the flaw of Bio is getting debuffed. I also read that Rad is considered a decent farming/offense spec if you want to avoid fire armor. (I love fire armor but just has so many holes..scared the hard work won't be enough). My intent is to farm more then just fire missions. My wife plays a fire/kin controller or a fire/time corrupter so DPS wise we are decent, I want to hold aggro and survive with no issues while doing decent dps. I was locked on with fire melee because I love how the tank change really helped Fire melee (Both aoes are 15 radius and a target cap of 16). It also as nice single target chain compared to spines. Also with wife hitting me with speed boost, I only need combustion and FSC because one is always up, making it not required to get fireball. If I went with Rad armor then I would also throw in ground zero. But for Bio and Rad, I am torn. I think they both survive nearly the same but I am starting to think that Rad will be better in more situations with meltdown and RoP combo (even without RoP). Also orginally everyone was saying that ground zero wasnt worth it as a DPS ability but now people are saying its a proc monster. So I am not sure what to think. Lastly, I have been thinking of rad armor also because Im told you can slot IG to be a proc monster also. For someone who wants to survive and do the most damage I can as a tank, outside of Fire armor and titanweapon, what would you do any why please. Thanks
  6. He stated the numbers was without soul drain. I think with the range and no knockdown its where it needs to be like you said. I think SM just needs a little adjustment but thats me (90 arc vice 120) "611ish damage without any buffs - no Soul Drain, nothing. This is too much in my opinion, and this is 'optimised' from 5 minutes of testing"
  7. So my assessment of Dm as a tanker. I actually think it is perfect minus Shadow Maul. I feel like adding Dark Consumption was a huge aoe increase as it was, allowing Shadowmaul also increase to 180 (from 120 tanker) is to much (going to get struck by the forum replies I'm sure) but honestly, I think it should be 90 degrees vice 120. Brute and stalker get a large aoe boost for SM and DC, and then Tanker still gets a large arc in front of them with SM. The reason I say this is Frost Melee. Frozen aura and Frost Breath are almost exact copies of this (minus animation looks). The difference is DM get's a heal and FM gets an ice patch. I know FB is 10 yards but that doesn't make up for 180 degrees and a really powerful heal that doesnt slow DPS. I think DM should be 90 by default, because if its not it will be the clear winner for MANY builds and we will have to many Dark Melees running around. Also side note, it seems DM is far far more complete and ahead then the other changes (new support AT/power pool ect). Can we get this in an earlier update into the build while waiting for the other stuff to be completed for testing? Be MUCH nicer for people to play around with DM....then after they get a character to 50 the other stuff starts coming out so they can play with it. Will give us multiple "new car feelings" to keep playing with. Just my suggestion. Throwing it all out in one patch kinda lessen's the impact of them all because many people love all types of characters and have limited playtime.
  8. The tanker updates took a couple of months to go live last time, will this be the case with this to be implemented? Not going to lie I love playing a tanker and love shield...a shield/dark has me really interested and wanting to come back and play. What kinda eta are we talking about?
  9. I am a big fan of turn on and forget powers so Shield/Dark/WP are more my thing but I want to be "full" tank this go around so going with SD. I know if IO'd its almost unkillable. What I can't figure out is which is more useful/dps with the changes between Fire and ice melee. Staff is my favorite but not an option..but informing since you can see the playstyle of quick aoe play with some nice single target. Because of that I am leaning torward Ice melee because Frost breath is going to be really nice with the target cap and range increase. A good single target line and a PBAOE in frozen aura. Fiery melee on tank I love because of combustion (just nice aggro grabber) but not sure how much more damage the set does compared to Ice with the new changes. I am also open to rad melee but the feel of it is really throwing me off. I can never get the heal to land and can never tell whos infected lol. But I like the idea of the set but in practice doesnt feel "right" to me. Would love a couple of builds maxxed for def/resist and any thoughts on the subject. As a side note I partner with a pain sup corrupter.
  10. Thanks that makes sense. Was wondering why combustion and footstomp were reduced to 10 radius. I got worried! One of the questions I was really looking to answer is staffs aoe abilities. I think staff as a tanker makes a lot of sense if the increase helps it.
  11. Is there a link or post that shows which Tank AE abilities are not effected by the increased range/target limit? Some of the tool tips in game don't seem to be updated OR if they are I don't know if its the new caps. Trying to decide what tank to main on the live server. I want to get it started while waiting for the patch.
  12. Gothca. Well that makes sense for the Tier 1/2 power (while it's weird they would not allow themselves a way out of this option for the original devs). Well with that that just concretes my opinion about the pool powers for FIGHTING only. Either allow Tanks to pick it at level 1 (which might not be possible) OR bypass the need to get punch or kick to unlock Tough and weave (for Tanks only....maybe brutes if you feel like its needed). I know this is doable because its been change to pick a travel power right away compared to having to pick an earlier power prior. Bypassing this will make power choice at Tier 1 or 2...a none factor for 95%+ of the tank builds out there). My opinion.
  13. Hey Capt powerhouse. I am all for the changes but I have an idea what will perfect it. I am fine with 500 cap for tanker (what I play and love) but I think 7.25 or 7.50 for brutes would be a bit better. But as I don't plan to play a brute, I'm ok with it but I feel with the increased target cap and ae range, keeping brutes closer to Scrappers is best. Now for what I think would perfect Tanks..I know I wouldn't complain ever again. I dont know the reason for for not allowing us to select the second power in the melee tree vice the first but for many sets that first power ends up being a "useless" or rarely used power. Instead of allowing us to pick either of the first two powers, give us the ability to pick for the Fighting pool ONLY to choose either Punch or Kick at Level 1. This will allow us to not pick a WASTED power. Almost all tanks (not all but most) want Tough or Weave or both. To do this we have to pick punch or kick. If we pick a melee set that has a weak first power and then get punch of kick...we are wasting TWO power slots (kick has its usefulness with the knockback sometimes but overall most just leave it off the bar). This would make sense because Tough and Weave is almost core to a Tanker who...tanks for raids/groups. Anyhow this is my thought. This doesn't make other sets a little to powerful because they can skip their first power and get to strong of a single target chain without sacrificing anything. Punch and Kick powerwise is on par with almost all the first attacks of the Tanker melee trees. Anyhow this would make Tanks perfect for me at least. More damage...better at holding aggro to more mobs and I dont feel like I am wasting 2 powers to get tough. This would allow me to get 1 extra power that supports my group better like Assault or Tactics or maneuvers, recall friend ect. Hope you consider this.
  14. Please make this happen. I honestly have been very unhappy playing other AT's because I LOVED tanker for so long in City of Heroes. When they made CoV..I tried brute but it didnt stick to me. Just love being a TANK. And in most MMO's DPS rules because everyone wants speed speed speed...and it killed the game for me. But these changes would bring me back for a LONG time. I don't even care if the dps was increased but if you make it so I can jump into a group of mobs and hold ALL the aggro and feel like I am doing something for the team with controls/aggro I will be beyond happy. Can't wait for these, please dont change your mind...the hope is real.
