  1. Well golly, this is some delightful stuff! Glad y'all found my mod and are making use of it! The howling is definitely what turned me off to Demons for a bit, I have a macro that I spam every ten seconds that tells them to do a standing animation that doesn't trigger any "vocal" sounds (sounds are tied to animation, so if your demons adopt a Emote stance or loop of any kind, it'll cancel the voices/howling). Meanwhile, though I'd love to keep doing modding work, I don't always got the time these days. I'd say if anyone wants to cannibalize my mod to make their own pack with reduced sounds or whatnot, feel free! My goal was always to enjoy, and see other folks enjoy CoH as much as possible. If anything I've done can contribute, then that's even more awesome.
  2. Appreciate you mentioning it, Kaizen Soze! It a bit too slow to be used in combat though. Heck, even roleplaying is a challenge, when your two movement speeds are seductive-sneaking or cheetah-sprinting. 😛
  3. TLDR: "Would it be at all possible to introduce some kind of negative speed enhancement, or a temporary power that limits default run speed to the Level 1 Pre-Swift (Inherent Fitness) speed?" Hi there. I played City of Villains when it first game out, and eventually experienced City of Heroes, Going Rogue, etcetera. Fun times, still fun now thanks to the game's resurrection. Been playing a while, taking months off, that kind of thing. It seems like each time I come back however, there's a buff to movement speed. Inherent Fitness pools, buffs to travel powers and temporary powers, increased run speed through Enhancement Sets. As much as I love and totally approve of the game developing a more fast-paced gameplay style similar to what modern MMOs are opting into, the run speed for my characters is just too damn fast. I'm having trouble navigating caves and offices with my character constantly running into walls, and trying to roleplay is a struggle when my two movement speeds are seductively slow or all-out-sprint. I might be in the minority here, but with the awesome focus on customization the game and our Homecoming Devs have shown, by giving us as many optional features as possible, would it be at all possible to introduce some kind of negative speed enhancement, or a temporary power that limits default run speed to the Level 1 Pre-Swift (Inherent Fitness) speed? Cheers for reading—if you do have similar feelings on this issue, please leave a comment and share your experiences, I'm interested in hearing them and hoping we find a common resolution!
  4. A big thank you to everyone who has replied or made suggestions for sounds—this is definitely something I'd like to expand, if people are finding it useful! I'm going to take some time when I can to look up other sounds (I'm not familiar with all the powersets) that were mentioned, to see if I can create some more lore-appropriate/less-annoying sounds to add. I'd especially like to make the mod more Modular, so that you can choose what sounds to 'install' as it were. More options is always better! Alternatively, I just noticed that there's another collection of adjusted sound mods that might be worth checking out—it can be found here: Solarverse's SFX Consolidated List of Mods
  5. This issue has received a response in the Homecoming Discord: --------------- Number Six: I think I know what's causing that, it's probably related to the area defense mode change. Number Six: Just need to adjust the standoff distance and make the command reset things so it goes to the new spot even if it's within the acceptable movement radius [...] Number Six: I put it on my todo list --------------- ♥ Much love to ya'll Homecoming staff, crew and volunteers, for being so dedicated to the project and the community. ♥
  6. Hullo! I took a break from CoH, and when I came back I discovered some Mastermind changes had taken place! Yay! At the same time, I noted that the "Go To" command for sending pets to specific places seems to have been altered in a negative way! Oh no! At first I couldn't tell if it was just me, or lag, but recalling my earlier experiences, I'm rather convinced that this issue started occurring following the Mastermind changes that altered Pets' distancing when it comes to moving into melee, or staying at range. I hope others share their experiences, to better isolate when this issue started, and what the effects/solutions might be: Fine Tuned Pet Movement using the 'Go To' command is a non-essential, but high value ability. It allows players to maneuver their pets in more complex ways, whether getting them in/out of rooms within the tight hallways of an Office tileset, place them around corners or in specific areas to avoid aggro, or even move them around for roleplaying purposes. The Accuracy of the Go To command seems significantly reduced now, as indicated by the screenshot mashup found in the Attached Files in this post. If this is being addressed or fixed in the next update that's on Beta right now, awesome! If not, is it something that can be looked into? Many thanks to all you developing staff who are continuing to build this game and make it better for us all. Cheers!
  7. Hey ya'll! Cheers for all the responses, and glad some folks are getting some use out of the pack! I'm super busy with work stuff, so if someone wants to take the tweaks I've made and throw'em into a new mod, that'd probably be the best way of doing a sound overhaul. I can't guarantee I'll find the time to do an overhaul of all the other recommendations that have been made. I mean, I'll try, but I've got like, 350 ping in-game for the next 5 months or so, and thus I haven't been playing too often even when I do get the chance!
  8. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> BERNARD THE BEAST'S LESS ANNOYING SOUNDS MOD <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Hello and welcome to this little mod for City of Heroes/Villains that will make some of the sounds in the game, just a little bit less obnoxious! The idea is simple: certain powers, npcs and world sound effects that would ordinarily shatter your ears have been turned down, altered, or replaced with new (but hopefully fitting!) sounds that will let your ears continue functioning in peace! Also be sure to check out Solarverse's SFX Consolidated List of Mods which contains alternative SFX for Beam Rifles, Peacebringers, Lightning Primary, Lightning Field (Quieter), and more! <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Installation Instructions <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> 1) Copy/Cut/Move the 'data' folder found in this .zip file to the same location/folder where "cityofheroes.exe" is located. 2) You're finished! <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> CHANGE LOG <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> v1.0 • Mod created! Sounds that have been modified are as follows: • Demon Summoning: Altered Roar/Taunt sound from Fiery Demon and Hellfire Gargoyle pets. • Hasten: Quieter, with a "smoother" build up effect. • Teleportation: Teleport, Recall Friend and Group Teleport have a smoother, less sharp sound. • Rikti: Teleport sound has been made much quieter and smoother (removes a Pocket D jump-scare!) <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> IMPORTANT NOTES <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Adding/Creating a 'data' folder in your City of Heroes directory is very likely to change the default configuration write/read directory from "piggs" to "data". This means if you use /bind_save_file or /bind_load_file, the directory has changed and the command/your macros may fail to load. TO FIX: You need to move your custom bindings and macros from "piggs" to "data". TO UNINSTALL: Delete the files added by this mod. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> LEGAL <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> THIS MODIFICATION IS NOT MADE, DISTRIBUTED, OR SUPPORTED BY CRYPTIC, PARAGON STUDIOS, PERFECT WORLD ENTERTAINMENT, THE HOMECOMING TEAM, SCORE AND/OR ITS LICENCORS. THE MOD MAKER TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY IF THIS MOD IN ANY WAY DAMAGES, CORRUPTS, OR CAUSES UNFAVORABLE ISSUES. PLEASE FOLLOW UNINSTALL INSTRUCTIONS IF SOMETHING GOES TERRIBLY WRONG.
