    Thank you, I've reworked to include that and while I give up 20% or so damage between Fireball and Ball lightning, this build has enough damage already if it can get and keep them all out.

So I have been playing a Fire/Storm/? character and now that she's 50, I've been using her to farm.  Yes, I know that there are better characters to do it, but I enjoy it and when I have no other teams or content to do I can jump into a +2/8 mission and kill at whatever pace I want adding inf and recipes that way.  Besides, that is one of the few times I can really open up and go to town on some mobs as in most 50 team content stuff is long since dead before I get much out other than a Freezing Rain and maybe a bonfire.

     

    With that said, I like a character that can do a bunch of things.  My current build is okay, but it's horrific on END and doesn't have sustainability without sucking down Blues like they are crack.  That's WITH cardiac as the Alpha slot.

     

    Storm uses a lot of END, with the recharge I have, Fire uses a lot of END.  I had originally based my build off @josh1622's build from the [url  https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,5702.0.html]Fire/Storm[/url] topic.  After tweaking it to my tastes, that's what I am currently running (build below).  I'm not very satisfied with the performance at this point and want to try to reengineer the build to make it more END friendly and still be survivable so I can farm if I want.

     

    Current Build:

    Nearly Softcapped S/L and Ranged. 

    Powers are well slotted in general

    WAY to heavy on END

    Can solo +2/8 slowly and safely

    Earth Epic so Heal and +HP which is huge in Storm

    Perma Hasten (by 3 seconds)

     

    Proposed Build:

    20-30% defense all around

    Softcapped to S/L/F and good to C resists

    Much friendlier on END

    Fire Epic so a little more AOE damage at the loss of some control

    No heal, no Max HP

     

    I'm looking for tips, suggestions, and if you think I should bother switching builds.  I think the resist build can play more aggressive since I won't have to be watching END use all the time.  But that's theory crafting for sure.

  4. Flat out.  Ice is empirically bad as a set.  I've played Ice with a couple of characters and it just lacks compared to the other primaries.

     

    It has three things going for it:

    1) Massive -Rech and Slow

    2) A flop power in Ice Slick

    3) A PBAOE confuse

     

    For #1, while it is the king of those, there are plenty of other sets that have more than enough.  Ice has so much -Rech  and Slow that you often cap a mob with just one power, making the rest redundant. 

     

    For #2, of the flop powers, it is now the worst. 

    Bonfire - With the proc now does just as good of flop and also has good damage

    Freezing Rain - Has -RES, -DEF and recharges faster all of which beat the -slow

    Earthquake - With the proc, has -ToHit and -DEF

    For me, all three of the patch fall powers are better than Ice's signature move.

     

    For #3, it's a decent power, but overshadowed by plant's seeds of confusion.

     

    The rest of the set lacks damage and has a pet that's uninspiring.  Ice on live used to be good when PPM's weren't in there because you had so many Proc opportunities that you could get some substantial AOE damage out of procing all the powers to the max.  PPM kills that strategy and putting them in some of the AOE powers doesn't net the same boost in damage that it used too.

     

    It's a shame, I loved my Ice/Storm controller, but for now they are shelved until things change again.

  5. Ironically, purples usually don't give you much in the way of Def bonuses.  You need to avoid them as a Defender if you want to softcap.  I have a theory build at the moment that is perma hasten with one instance of SB up and no incarnate.  It also is more resist based, but to all positions instead of S/L.  While S/L is the most common, post 50, everything has some kind of non S/L attack other than council.  So I kind of passed up on using that as a mitigation method.

     

    I have not finished this build yet, so can't tell you how well it will work, but will keep people posted.  If anyone wants to comment, then I'll be happy to discuss.

     

    Highlights:

    * Perma Hasten with only 1 SB up.  For those times that you miss miss miss

    * Assault.  Yes, it seems redundant, but Exemping pre 32 it's really nice to have an always up 18.75% Damage buff to go with Siphon Power

    * Full stealth between the pool power and Celerity for mission running

    * Two major Resistance clickies giving you 50-75% resist in everything for about 85% of the time (RoP is up 90s and down 90s.  Force of Nature is up 120s and down 217s.  Leaving you a 2m gap with bad defenses.  However, 210s of resist with a good heal should get you through most stuff that starts going south.  Basically, if you are being targeted, pop one, get close and heal.  Also, RoP can be cast while held, making it a poor man's break free.

    * Powers slotted to take advantage of PPM Proc changes

    * Double Aim+Build up in the Amplify power

    * Pretty much full protection from KB powers

    * All of the normal things you would expect out of a Kin/Sonic defender
