  1. I LOVE(d) my defender. But I went up against Malta last night and it turned me into a mobile buff dispenser. Basically all I could do was buff my tank, and then try (unsuccessfully) not to die repeatedly from the constant CC. Is there anything I can do to stop this? I have some sets that provide mez resistance. I have a blessing of the zephyr. If any of that made a lick of difference last night, I couldnt tell. Before anyone says you just have to control aggro and the tank needs to keep things focused on him. That isnt a sufficient answer. I like to solo as well, and half of the times when I was CCed, it was in AOE form from getting too close to the fight. The attached image is my current CC protection. I did not specifically build for that, so the stats arent particularly good, but i thought id provide them in case anyone wanted to see what I was actually working with before commenting. (Im Nature/Elec btw) So.. anyone have any advice?
  2. So I have dabbled a little in MMs but never committed to one because I reach a point where I just feel like all im doing is moving my pets around. I know thats kind of what the class is, but im wondering if I can play a mastermind without being all about the pets. Essentially I wonder if I can make more of a set and forget mastermind. Ive been told that you can put Bots or Necro on defensive and just leave them like that. I dont know how accurate of a statement that is, but if that is true... Could I go Bots/Traps/Field and make him as a set and forget MM? The idea is that id put the bots on defensive and just let them follow me around and provide laser goodness. Id have the FF bot from traps providing defense, meanwhile id be using the energy blasts from field mastery slotted with force feedback +recharge procs, and throwing in some trip mines, seeker drones, and what have you. Is this feasible? Or am I gimping myself?
  3. Hey everyone. Im working on my build for an Inv/EM tank and im trying to decide where I can pare down my attack chain to just the most necessary stuff. I plan on having a fairly high amount of global recharge..shooting for perma haste. I am wanting to pare down my attack chain because I want to try and fit in most of the psionic mastery ancillary pool, and go proc heavy with dominate and psionic tornado. So knowing that, what would you say are the most important attacks for me to take in EM? Right now im pretty sure I want Total Focus and Energy Transfer.. beyond that though.. i dunno. Should I take whirling hands and/or power crash? Is there any reason I shouldnt skip barrage, bonesmasher, and energy punch? Thanks for the help 😄
  4. Have you considered AFK farming with a Dark/Spines tank? Seems like the two toggles, and dark regeneration spam, all procced out.. could be effective. Plus you can throw a cloak of fear in there for more mitigation. Just wondering if there is any reason I shouldnt consider making this character.
  5. Your Sword-Lord has similar tastes in costume's to my Damoklese
  6. Are there any effective farming builds that dont require a TON of investment, and arent either Fiery Aura or Rad melee?
  7. Just tested this on the test server and it performed ok. Tried it in +3/4s and for the most part it was alright. The damage was a bit low, and alpha shots are very precarious. This is a build that is mostly for solo and duo play, so im trying to be as self reliant as possible. I know my build may not be perfect, but im curious if any more seasoned defender players might have some feedback for me. Thank you! Defender (Nature Affinity - Electrical Blast).mbd
  8. I really like the aesthetic of the set. I like jolting chain and synaptic overload and static field. But everyone says the set is bad..with no damage or proc potential and the pets suck. I guess I'm just wondering if that is true, why it is true, and if anyone has figured out how to make the set good?
  9. It's going to vary. Different builds and ATs, so I'm looking for something with a varied enough challenge to at least be somewhat effective to a range of options.
  10. I'm trying to iron out exactly how I want to build a character and was going to use the test server for it. Can anyone recommend a good mission I could easily access that doesn't take too long to complete, and would provide a good measuring stick for my effectiveness? Does such a thing exist?
  11. Thank you! I'll take a look at this when I get home today 😁
  12. Makes sense. If I drop my defensive bonuses and focus on the resistance, it will lean more into the concept that im going for with the constant healing from the lightning procs providing damage mitigation.
  13. Hmm ok...I see I did not invest heavily enough into my toggles. Thank you. I need to move some things around and get those resistances to the cap.
  14. Thanks! Figured out how to add the file after I posted the data chunk
  15. So I have no idea if this DA/Elec guy is gonna be any good. I liked the theme and concept though, so I thought id give it a shot. I welcome any advice or feedback on how good or not good it might be. Im trying to flesh out my build before I get too far leveled though, so that I have a plan. The goal is to be extremely tanky, but not a horrible slouch with damage either, so that maybe I can solo an AV. Here is the build ive got so far. I have no idea how to share a mids build.. Hopefully this works DAelec Tank.mbd
  16. So I am trying to figure out a good durable, in-your-face type character to main. Someone I can invest heavily in and use to solo AVs and also farm inf. I was wondering if I could get some opinions on these two possible combos? Fire Melee/Dark Armor Spines/Stone Armor Would you say either of these was capable of farming effectively, as well as being super tough of able to solo AVs? Thanks!
  17. Not a huge fan of the pom poms or the overbearing visuals of Rad. I do have a character concept that might work well with it, but im currently using it on a gravity controller :D. Still..ill keep this in my back pocket as something to consider further. Thanks!
  18. So I've got a lot of characters I'm juggling as I slowly make my way towards end game builds, and it occurred to me that if I was to find myself doing difficult content and getting frustrated, I'd really like to have 1 guy that I could consider my main, whom I could bring into any situation and just be that immovable object that can brute force through any challenge. Tank seems to be a good fit for that, but if I'm going to earmark this character for a large investment of time and resources, I want him to be the right combination of fun, effective, and thematically cool. So what powersets would you say are a good fit for this kind of role? If you could have one tank that you put a billion influence Into... the "superman" of your personal comic world.. what powers would you go with?
  19. So ive always wanted an ice controller but every time ive made one ive lost interest once I hit that point where the damage falls off and you start to feel like you need either a lot more damage or a lot more hard control. I inevitably give up and move on to other alts at that point. Id really like an ice controller though. Does anyone have a pairing with Ice Control that make it feel more solo friendly? Or just that you generally feel is the "best" route to go when playing Ice Control?

  21. So im a long time controller player. Well.. I say that but really im a long time altaholic that is looking to get more than one character maxed out. Ive played a LOT of controllers and tanks, and ive always wanted to try to make a defender work for me. I like that they are the best when it comes to buffing and debuffing, and that strikes me as a very strong benefit that is often overlooked. Anyway, Ive dabbled a little with Seismic on a sentinel and thought it was pretty cool. So I thought maybe id give it a shot on a defender, and finally have a go at maxing one out. I typically play Solo or in a duo with a friend who plays dps. But I dont like being a slouch so im looking to contribute some nice damage numbers of my own, and generally just make things easy. Dark looks like it has some great tools that would synergize with Seismic..but I honestly have no idea what im doing here. Ive never had to look at the support sets as my bread and butter. They have always just been a compliment to my main abilities, so now that I need to depend on these abilities for my character to be effective and fun, im a little bit lost. I guess I just want some feedback from the experienced defenders out there on whether or not this would be a new-defender-friendly combo to try? Am I going to run into a lot of endurance issues? or struggle to be effective? Is there any pairing with Seismic that you would say is a much better decision? Dark/Seismic fits my intended character theme, but I can be flexible. Anyway..any feedback and assistance is welcome. Thanks for reading.
  22. So after 100s of alts and years of off and on playing, I think I may have to just admit that there is no perfect character that is going to "click" for me. I figured id make a post about it though, and see if anyone has a suggestion. So, what ive been trying to build forever is a character that fits the playstyle I enjoy, but doesnt have any of the key weaknesses that annoy me. The playstyle: Battlefield controller/general. Ive played my fill of in-your-face type damage dealers and tanks, and what im really wanting is someone who creates controlled chaos. Fire and forget powers, toggles, passive damage dealers, CC, etc..etc.. Powersets like Plant control and Storm Summoning come to mind. I dont mind getting my hands dirty with some straight up blasting as well.. I just dont want that to be all im doing. The weaknesses im trying to avoid: -Endurance hogs -No Mez protection -Annoying perma-power toggling (i.e. having to keep hasten and dom up, rather than just having a single auto-cast ability) -Inability to solo bosses -Boring/repetitive playstyle, or a lack of engagement (i.e. Illusion control is effective, but super boring without some fun additions from other sets) On top of that I just want to feel powerful. Knocking things around and such. Maybe a big damage number occasionally. Anyway.. ive played a LOT of controllers. Tried quite a few doms and corruptors and defenders. Never was able to get into masterminds because the pet controls were so intensive that basically all you are doing is telling them where to go, and resummoning them as they die over and over. So thats where im at now. I cant seem to find any character that fits my needs just right. If anyone has an archetype and powerset combo that you think would be a perfect fit, feel free to shout it out. I am looking for inspiration.
  23. Hey everyone! Im getting that COH itch again. I need to level a new controller lol. I want to play something totally different than what I have in the past though, so im trying to figure out the best combo to go with before I build my hero theme around it. What would you suggest for a controller that wants to do "enough" damage, and be capable in solo/duo play? Primary: Ice, Earth, Electric, or maybe Dark Secondary: Cold, Electric, FF, Pain, Poison So.. any suggestions on what I might pair up from those choices and end up with a strong controller that can solo and duo well? Thank you!
  24. So.. I love controllers. As such, ive never really played a dominator. I attempted a few times, but always ended up missing my support sets. Well im thinking I need to try again, but this time Id like to try and play a dominator that isnt quite so......"busy" Basically I want to cut down on button bloat, and streamline him as much as possible. Any of you experienced dominators have any suggestions? I am leaning towards Plant or Ice or Electric, but im open to suggestions. I saw one thread below that had an interesting build for Ice/Savage.. which was intriguing, but im not sure I want to play savage as my secondary. I like a more ranged approach.
