  1. I think Earth/Nature is great CC/support combo. Earth also has Earthquake, which can be slotted with Force Feedback, which lowers recharge. If you can work in another FF power or two like Wall of Force and Project Will, it will go a long way to lower the recharge on Haste and Overgrowth. @Coyote's Earth/Cold build is probably a good starting point. Without /Cold's Infrigidate for single target, I expect you'd keep Stone Prison in.
  2. Hi, @Coyote-- Curious if, in your experience, Wall of Force was effective (enough) in adding more FF procs (in conjunction with the one in Earthquake or Bonfire if Fire). Another topic (in Defender) seems to suggest otherwise. Thanks.

    ?/EA

Does anyone have any EA controller builds with Fire or Dark?
  4. If that's what it's like (at +4), that hardly seems interesting. I'll probably stick to duoing or roll another alt at that point. A group packing that much damage probably is going to be fine on the boss also then--even if I'm alt tabbed and watching Community on Netflix. So again, it's still seconds you're shaving off. I'm not eating my vegetables and playing Sonic, @Redlynne:)..
  5. I wasn't talking about difficulty but about efficiency. And being efficient on the boss is great, but I was just saying you spend a lot of time on trash--and killing that fast saves time, too. I wasn't belittling Sonic but trying to elevate other power sets to not being perceived as subpar--and they have benefits (IMO) also.
  6. Does anyone disagree with the assertion that even if Sonic is better target on boss fights, that you only spend a portion of your play time in combat engaged in fighting bosses? Anyone care to put some numbers to that--so that you're saying Sonic is x% better than (other power set) y% of the time, but the other 100%-y% of the time, Sonic is worse? For a made up example, say Sonic is 30% more damage for two 5 minute boss fights over a 30 minute run. Is it the difference in beating the content or would you have won anyway--but you just saved 15 seconds--while the other 20 minutes may have gone faster with better AOE powers. And also having slows, -to hit, stuns, etc. might have their own subjective benefits. I don't have real test data to bear this out--wish I did, but I do think these questions are more relevant than trying to say Sonic is the wrong power to use vs bosses. Anyway, I just posit that for future Defenders dropping by this forum that they don't all feel it's Sonic or bust, because many players feel the need to min max to what is "best", when the assumptions that said it were best were incorrect or the marginal benefit of that best vs the rest did not really amount to much. But I'm just a noob, so what do I know :)?
  7. I think I'm just going to follow this advice anyway. It's a game after all. And as I mentioned earlier, I suspect the fact that Sonic's payoff is mostly confined to boss fights, which is not what you'll be fighting 100% of the time. I can live without being marginally better just part of the time (especially given it'll probably be a better choice for the rest of the time). Uh, yes! This!
  8. It seems a greater problem that all of the debuffs in the game except -resist (and -regen) have been essentially rendered useless. And similarly, defensive power sets as well. So I can go Rad or Dark, but their debuffs aren't doing anything--and the only discussion is whether the opportunity cost of giving up sonic's debuff for higher damage is worth it or not (and more than likely Sonic is the better option). So my 2 thoughts are: 1) How material is the damage loss you give up to play a more appealing set--2%? 10%? 30%? 2) What is % of time spent on the boss fight vs clearing trash--and does the time spent on trash, mean some may be overestimating -resist's value? Maybe it's a wash, if trash is quicker the entire run, and the boss takes 20 more seconds to kill. Maybe a corruptor or controller would be a better option.
  9. After reading several threads in this forum, I'm seeing a pattern--take Sonic. Like DP, I don't especially like Sonic thematically or aesthetically. Just curious how folks think the other options stack up.
  10. I was checking out this old thread, because I was thinking about doing a duo also (but with a MM). On the Controller side, I was curious how Plant/Dark compares to Fire/Dark. Having confusion seems pretty handy and damage should be good. I'm not a fan of illusion, because it doesn't feel controllery enough. Also considering Defender, but I'm not a fan of /Sonic, so I was looking at Rad or Dark/Rad or Dark. Not a fan of Time either (sadly), even though it's top tier. Thanks.
  11. What do you all think about Rad/Rad in Defender vs Corruptor?
  12. Has anyone tried to make Ice work yet with EA? Seems like a pretty decent combo with baked in mez protection.

    ?/EA

Yeah we want to check out the post 50 content. How is earth different than say Darkness or other primaries (with AOE immobilize)? On the secondary, what do folks think of EA vs Time? How would a Fire/Cold Corr benefit from Amp Up?

    ?/EA

I'm surprised at how few builds and topics are on EA. I also am trying to pick a primary for EA to run with a Fire/Cold Corruptor (also looking at /Time). Anyone got any advice? Thanks.
  15. @Redlynne I would love an update on how this build is working out. I'm been wanting to try EA on MM, and I'm not sure which primary to pair it with.
