  1. I had been told for the better part of a decade across five separate MMOs by gatekeepers and 'pillars of the community' that 'people don't really want social RP/slice of life RP/relationship RP, the majority really want XYZ but you don't see it because it's behind the closed doors of a permanent group.' At this point I've accepted that was garbage, and yes, actually that really is what most people want. With a long term partner/tripod/harem/whatever. People don't want 'plots,' they don't want adventure or intrigue or mystery, they want to hang out somewhere as an idealized version of themselves and talk about the same damn things they talk about in real life and be affirmed and validated (especially if they do not receive that in 'real life'). Because even behind those closed doors, I found that's what people wanted. And that's fine. It's what people want. Just not really what I wanted or am proficient at. And that's just how it is. So I've lowered my expectations to something more healthy, and try to be happy with what I get as a roleplayer rather than keep chasing something I've built up in my head that doesn't match up with reality.
  2. It pleases me so much to see your characters shenanigans again.

  5. "I mean, people may think B and I are bad about that kind of thing, but WE’VE never gotten lost on our way to the objective." Priorities, people! Priorities!
  6. Our little group just finished the major portion of a sentients-trafficking ring plot that lasted oh, about three months I think? Some of it was in game, some of it was 'table-top' style GM'd sessions. Was fun. So yeah, they definitely happen.
  7. Before reading #15, 'Anything that can go wrong,' based on RP with fellow player Breakaway, check out Breakaway's intro--'Worst Case Ontario!' Worst Case Ontario: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LOhUVEakTXLKokJvtsoldU1Pr4WUex_CRjFjM8qA4uw/edit #15, 'Anything that can go wrong.' 9. Thank you very kindly! There's more on the way, I promise!
  10. Thank you very kindly for posting all this. Extremely enjoyable read, every single one.

  12. "Kill this body for me. I'm done with it. Just mind the suit, and fold it after. I'll be back for it." Despite the creepiness of it, this made me grin and really sold the character for me. Just mind the suit.
  13. The servers are indeed still up and the anniversary is going on. You can log in and get a t-shirt with a '2' on it. Based on RP with fellow player Mind's-I. #12, 'Praetorian.' https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LEWbDHdEibxn2x4JTmQncHkcdfSBFa_FzQT-vszNHuM/edit?usp=sharing

  15. Interesting way of thinking about it! Though I'm not quite sure I'm like Bruce Wayne...I imagine people bring his bacon to him. And now I wonder--does Bruce like bacon?
  16. I can't answer your lore questions as I'm not a lore expert as some around here are. I'm new here. However, if you're telling me this cop is a person caught between--between two worlds, two time periods, two ways of life and that is an important part of their identity then that's exciting to me because that's opportunities for good storytelling as this Sidhe cop makes her way in Paragon City. One foot in the forest of concrete and steel and one in her identity as Sidhe. A little bit this, a little bit that. Again, if I'm reading this right--sorry if I'm not. I'd like to hope there's always a place for compelling storytelling. Also, the idea of a beam rifle wielding Sidhe made me think of Puck/Owen Burnett from 'Gargoyles', so extra points from me for that ;)
  17. I admit without shame that I read "tried to run away like a giant diaper-baby" in the voice of the Heavy from Team Fortress 2.
  18. #10, 'The Yunfa Faan.' https://docs.google.com/document/d/1IpUpfwmssvLptAL8kpxk6j5TJGhjMnMuKqGNzbDIG5I/edit?usp=sharing

  20. Why thank you! Also Kai's diary cracks me up :)
  21. New arc beginning, that will involve collaboration with some players I know here. #8 "Kings Row." https://docs.google.com/document/d/1d8ykFpeKCR2XspaYhs5ifsTf-s6Qe-wTaC8GO0ro_0o/edit?usp=sharing
  22. Many thanks to @TheBizi for putting this on. The Keys is a fantastic location, and I really appreciate the effort that was put in to make this thing a reality--both in terms of the physical location and the 'atmosphere' provided by the live entertainment. Great stuff.
  23. Once upon a time I was a regular player and in-game roleplayer within the online game The Secret World. At that time we had a large number of refugees from City of Heroes (sometimes figuratively, sometimes quite literally). I'd never had the chance to experience the game, but all of them spoke so warmly about it I wondered what I had missed. The setting we 'secret worlders' called home was a relatively good fit for the transplants—modern setting, powers, other dimensions...but all with a cosmic, eldritch horror feel. Now the shoe is on the other foot. My 'home' is more or less gone, and my friends have told me that Paragon City is back! Why not come over and try it? So just as they fit their heroes to the Secret World, I now take my occult war-fighter out of his grim setting and put him instead in Paragon City, home to superheroes, supervillains, lots of capes...and a very different set of rules. This is Frank Calhoun's story: on how he adjusts, the new friends he makes, and the new dangers he faces. I'm very much a novice in Paragon City, but here goes with his 'introduction arc,' and some collaborative stuff I'm doing with friends already here will follow.
