  1. I personally am a bit biased. I've only played a soldier, and my crab is my main. I love my crab. Crab has a few really good things: their leadership toggles are technically better than a widow (at least the defense one). Widows get link mind to make up for this, but this can't be made permanent without work. Widows have stalker level single target damage, but are very end heavy (from what I've heard). Soldiers are a little more sturdy, and have much better aoe. Soldiers get pets, if that appeals at all. While widows get better stealth than banes get (at least as widow players have claimed to me). Overall both are worthwhile and a lot of fun. Fortunata's are a little undertuned from what I've heard, same with Banes for soldiers. Widows best builds and powers are all melee. Soldiers can choose between ranged and melee (or mix and match) with very little dps loss.
  2. I hope that any future new archetype are better thought up than sentinels. Sentinels could have been a neat idea. A ranged tank would be a neat thing to have. Instead it has sub-scrapper damage, far sub-blaster damage, scrapper level caps, and every secondary you think might be good for them (bio, elec) has had its numbers tuned down to be literally nearly worthless when it comes down to buffing damage. Their unique mechanic is weird - -20% res on their t1 and t2 attacks makes those attacks good. But they lack the damage to follow it up. At the same time, this is basically their only utility when grouping, which is far below basically any other archetype. If they were built to actually tank, they would at least have a job. Give them brute numbers on their secondaries, give them a class mechanic that makes them stronger when they attack enemies who arent hitting them (to give them a niche even when theres a better tank, as well as to help them peel enemies off allies when they lose aggro) Oh, and unnerf their aoes. Tankers get to hit 16 targets with their aoes. Why did sentinel's aoes all get changed to 8 or 10 max targets
  3. Some of the new sets are really incredible. If you want to deal big damage, bio armor in offensive mode far exceeds every other offensive armor, even ones like fire. However, it also is horrible for defenses in that mode. Rad armor has amazing resistances with a tiny crash on its to, but gives very little to defense besides a couple aoe debuffs, that mostly affect enemy to hit values, and a single recharge buff based on being surrounded by lots of enemies. If you purely wanna tank hits, theres very little reason not to go Rad. Rad melee/fire is at 50 a better farmer than spines/fire, but don't tell anyone I said that. What's even better is that rad melee both has just as good of aoe mobbing capability, but also three to four times as good single target, so you arent useless in any boss situation. That said: titan weapons is still the highest DPS brute/scrapper primary at max. Elec armor is still the best balanced 'kills things fast but also tanks' secondary. I dont know anything about blaster changes or their new sets, so I can't comment on that side.
  4. Regen/Energy Melee tanker What do you mean, this is for joke builds that don't take any actual powers, and instead intentionally gimp themselves by avoiding good options? This is legitimately the worst power combo in the game, most likely - Regen is an atrocious defensive set built entirely on a one trick pony with little to no mitigation of its own, and Energy Melee got continually nerfed - it was nerfed in i4, i7, i10, briefly buffed in i11 to i7 levels, nerfed in i12, i14, and I think i16. It's just terrible, one of the worst damaging melee sets in the game across all archetypes.
  5. Prestige is disabled on Homecoming. There is no prestige payments required, and Supergroups have full base-building ability without any costs.
  6. I remade my main, then realized I didn't actually enjoy being a Mastermind these days, and made something else instead. Now she's just sitting at level 15. Does that count?
  7. I find omega just simply not worth it. Even fully slotted out at 50 its damage is... lackluster? Not exactly bad, but about 1.5x the numbers on a Suppression, for a much longer cooldown. It certainly looks cool and iconic, but bile spray on my crab deals more damage with half the cooldown period. Can't see why I would use it.
  8. I've had a few players go off on (always other players) if they die. Twice it has been a brute or scrapper yelling at a dominator that they should have gone blaster or controller, not a shitty archetype. Once has been a stalker screaming about how our team had 3 defenders 2 controllers (we ended up doing fine when he dropped group after the tanker refused to kick anyone like he demanded.) But that's 3 times out of 40+ groups I've been part of.
  9. My illusion/kin is very strong at soloing. I can one shot many minions, and lock down groups with blind.
  10. Crab spiders are often considered 'blasters who can tank'. They have some of the best aoe damage in the game, and their leadership buffs (that all soldiers get) are some of the best non defender aura toggles. They also get good pet benefits and can mini-mastermind. Probably the best choice for solo. Bane spider spent a long time as 'strictly better stalker', but stalker got buffed in i23, and is very powerful nowadays. They nowadays are slightly worse at single target damage than stalkers, and slight worse at aoe than crabs. And again. Amazing buffs. Fortunas have one of the best buffs in the game in mind link (17% defense, psychic damage resist, mez resist, can be made near permanent with IOs) Blood widows are considered a little disappointing nowadays, they are worse than bane spiders in a lot of ways. They still have a lot of damage, and can work fine. But a spider is generally better.
  11. By loud, do you mean louder than bots? I was originally going to go with bots because everyone says they are the top tier superior... but oof. The clanking constantly when they walk was a total no.
  12. Before Going Rogue, Villains were always considered weaker than their equivalent hero archetype for a few reasons. Brutes werent as tanky as tankers, paired with us having weaker support archetypes, meaning that we were better with damage, but had none of the survivability of heroes. Post going rogue, those few who did play villains were quick to switch over to hero side because the synergy was better. A brute + defender combo can have a duo that is as tanky as a tanker, with better damage than a scrapper And because villain side was always less populated than hero side, the devs always gave more attention and new stuff to hero side (thus them having twice as much content). Which contributed even further to population decline.
  13. Just starting the game and I know I wanna play a mastermind because that's what I miss above all else. But I don't know what set to use. Demon and Beast both are tempting because they were introduced after I originally quit, but Thugs was what I played in Live when I left the game, and so it has a soft spot in my heart.
