  1. Very late update: So, I got delayed a year or so getting my Deck. And Finally got it a couple weeks ago. Right now, just trying to get the HC Launcher installer to work, and it doesnt run through desktop mode, and hangs when added as a non steam game. Should have guessed it wouldnt run natively, but I have other options to try. In other news though, I got Star Trek Online, Cryptics 3rd game working quite well. I dont recommend flying a carrier, as thats a lot to manage even with the keyboard, but the game plays well. Just run it in proton experimental mode, and remember to go into the game launcher options and disable "on demand patching" as Proton does not support this, and it will cause the game to hang on almost every map change. I will get CoH to work also, and when I do, its controls are almost identical to that of STO, so I will make it work for when Im traveling. Update: Got it working, both the launcher and the game itself seem to run quite well in Proton Experimental, at least as of today. I did have to create a custom control scheme (Fully expected), but the game actually runs better on deck than my PC. The controls are a bit clunky, but its made for keyboard an mouse, not 14 buttons, 2 joysticks, and 2 trackpads. But it works. No crashes so far, not even hanging on map change. Ill post back here when and if I get custom mastermind controls working. This is a low priority for me as its not my favorite AT. More of a challenge to get it to work. Oh, anyone know a way to share/publish custom control schemes for non steam games? If I get this working well, maybe someone else might want to try.
  2. I posted earlier the link to SoH schedule page because it had been recently updated. Pitty they didn't acually include a date for the top section, rather than just "current" but it has been updated recently. The comment I made about them proving the successors weren't dead was because of the banner at the top of that page also announces the game is scheduled to launch in 2022. This message also was not there a couple weeks earlier and the entire site seems redesigned this month to boot. Also, their homepage has been updated to announce pre-orders will be available this holiday season. Though I admit, were a full week into December now, so if they're going to make good on that, it's needs to be in the next few days. "I distinctly remember someone saying, 'Were not gonna make it.' We made it. Maybe next time, you'll just wait and see" Jack Oniell, Stargate SG1
  3. Ok, just a few weeks later, SoH Team has given the perfect argument. https://www.shipofheroes.com/schedule/ Perfect timing guys. Thank you immensely to all teams, Homecoming, CoT, SoH, Valiance and others for keeping the idea of such a world alive.
  4. FYI, I just checked websites for all three of these (most popular) spiritual successors of City of Heroes, as they have come to be called by those few who follow them. All three have updates of some kind within the last two weeks, and fairly consistent updates every 1-2 months before that. The valiance ones are admittedly difficult to find since they moved from their own updates section to a single running thread on their forum a few years ago. Anyhow, slow I will admit (to a degree, being as some games funded by large teams such as Blizzard and EA have taken in excess of 10 years from their initial start of development to launch, guild wars 2 and starcraft 2 are good examples). But going back to the initial question of this thread, I see no evidence at least on the surface that homecoming has "Torched" any of these potential new games.
  5. So far as I know, City of Titans and Ship of Heroes were both originally CoH spiritual successors. There were a few others that failed as well, but that is beside the point. As far as a reskin, I think your thinking of Valiance Online. This one was originally being developed as a different game. I have not checked in awhile, but I think it's still being developed as well. And the only one with a playable alpha. (If you donate).
  6. Interesting. I have done tributes to characters outside the game with alts on several occasions, but neglected the contacts ingame. As for Haley, I agree a defender would be fitting. Empathy is most obvious, but I tend to avoid that one, as one of the most overdone sets in the game. Maybe trick arrow could be written in as a natural hero? What shard do you play on. I'm on Excelsior. Would love to run of my tributes with your Paragon city folks.
  7. No, but I do remember an SG mate (MA, SR Scrapper named Zareth) being excited about this change around issue 5 or 6. he probably doesn't have video either as this was not as common back then. If YouTube even existed it was still new, and not yet owned by google.
  8. Yes, as said above, we exist. I do have Incarnate abilities unlocked on a couple characters, but after 2 years I only have 4 lvl 50s. I do a lot of alts, and honestly play other games too, (not to mention having job, wife, kids, and a couple other hobbies). I run a very small, very casual SG, with only a couple regularly active members on Excelsior. One or two of us do farm AE most of the time, but even those will stop at a mission end to run storyline when asked. If that's what your into, and if your also on Excelsior, shoot me an email ingame at @Galelleo. I check that far more often than the forums. Or feel free to start your own group. Welcome back, and happy gaming.
  9. I would like to see sent attack range on par with defenders, minus the snipe still perhaps. Maybe slightly smaller/narrower cone AOEs than blasters instead? I don't see the point of making Opportunity that simplistic though. I rather like having choices in how to play and what strategy to use when. Making it simpler also means making the combat more cookie cutter. Do this all the time to win type stuff kills me.
  10. Do yo out think the Nerve Alpha Incarnate series might help with this? It sys its +account, but to hit would make more sense as it applies to all attacks.
  11. Nah, gotta be a tank with the hits he takes.
  12. Nice. WINE is built into SteamOS, so this looks very promising. Keyboard and Mouse will be a must of course, but Deck supports that too. Thanks for the reply. I didn't know about the WINE thread.
  13. So, A few months ago Steam announced their new portable console, the steam deck. It has been advertised as a portable gaming PC, in a form factor similar to the Nintendo Switch. It apparently comes with multiple emulation software packages built Into its Linux based OS, Which has been dubbed, Steam OS. The system is also apparently compatible with windows 10 if one wipes SteamOS first. I have already seen steam reviews from beta testers stating, and showing it run non steam games like minecraft, fortnight, and even oldies like starcraft. My question is this: Will COH homecoming run on this system, and if so what emulation (and/or OS swap) would be required to make this happen? Thanks Galelleo
  14. Character Name: Galelleo Global Name: @Galelleo SG: Interstellar Alliance Shard: Excelsior Base Passcode: IAEMBASSY-2361 I am the sole contributor to base design for this base. The basic theme is a ground based embassy for a space-faring alliance, so high tech but inside a well protected structure in a hidden area. This base is more classic COH editor, done completely inside the original large plot. Parts of the base are currently under construction, but highlights are: The transport room with a custom teleport hub, the operations room, A secret lounge the entrance to which is hidden behind trees in a smaller lounge with big screens and couches (All work and no play right?) And the secret lab (not pictured here) which will require the following teleport points be used in the correct order: Start at heth point in the transport room, then go to yodh, kaph, lamedh, keep selecting lamedh until the option is no longer there, then samekh, and finally daleth. any other order will not get you to the right location. The secret lab is small and a bit unorthodox, but different from the main engineering bay and armory, and houses the most powerful equipment of the alliance. Thank You for your consideration
  15. Since this update, I have periodically been getting a different splash screen on CoH, and occasionally the server list comes up with a single server, either "Justin" or "UNNAMED". When It comes up with UNNAMED, the client hangs, and can only be closed through task manager (Running Windows 10). This seems random, please tell me if there is something I am doing that may be causing this to happen in a seemingly random fashion. Thank You Galelleo PS, a restart of the game usually alleviates the issue, though I have had the list with only Justin happen twice in a row.
  16. I have a friend in another game, who would like to try the incredible City of Heroes Homecoming. Only issue is this friend is having difficulty connecting from Japan. I am not certain exactly what the issue is, but was wondering if we could get some help here, if it is even possible to play from that location, and what may be required. Thanks to anyone who replies Galelleo
