  1. I am a big fan of /dark as you can build it to have little to know holes in resist and useful defense...and I love the look of Soul Noir with cloak of fear active :) My favorite 2 damage sets for this are Rad and Dark the big issues is how you want to deal with endurance. All of my builds are very toggle heavy and more targeted at end game and my choice hinges on your on Destiny Incarnate powers. I like barrier as it is the best "Oh F**k" power and can get you out of most deadly situations. If barrier is a must have then go with Dark Melee as it has the only really good endurance power in the damage set, IMO plus it goes well thematically. Furthermore you get access to it in the standard leveling process. With that being said a /dark brute should be very tanky. Thus if you want some more AOE damage and a damage aura I prefer rad and then you choose "Ageless" as your Destiny Incarnate and never worry about end again and I also think it gives a slight recharge bonus. This is my main brute. You can create a very balanced defense across all damage types. I also have a second build I swap to to run fire farms. I run fire farms for two reasons 1) lots of people run them and its more fun to run as a team and you can always find good hitters for fire farms. The SL farms I have found either have a lot of -def debuffs that can kill you as well as some have insane knockback that you have to waste IOs on to mitigate because /dark has a KB hole in it. With my main setup (not the fire farm build) you can fire farm in teams pretty well, but soloing the bigger maps requires tons of monitoring, clicking and if you don't pay attention you die. The FF build is pretty bulletproof from a resist/def standpoint.
  2. I'm sure I'm not the first to write on this topic but please humor me. It just so happens that my top 5 favorites are all different ATs, but if you wanna pick 5 brute's go for it! I would share the builds, butuinfortunately most of them are on my old...dead, computer :( 1. Dominator Fire/Fire/Fire Permadom without hasten. Essentially 2 AOE holds + a perma-knockdown to cycle through locking down everything so there is little that can attack you because you can rapidly cycle through them and they also do adequate AOE damage. Then AOEs all over the place. Add in some Mayhem with fire imps (even trough they die a lot) and hot feet! Can't hold that EB or AV then you still have stronger single target damage than most. Lots of play options on all mission types. IMO one of the best blasters is a 3x fire dom :) 2. Blaster Fire /Fire/Mu I hated blasters on live and then on homecoming they fixed the snipe lag and the nuke end drain...I was off to the races. This is one of the few toons that I use build swapping with. I either go hover or full on blapper (so fun but not always the best option in higher difficulty TFs). This toon has been my main since the first week of homecoming when I heard about the changes to blasters. All kinds of damage any time anywhere. Lots of good IO options for the two different build types to change up your defensive options! 3. Brute Rad/Dark/Mu I was a Brute guy 90% of the time on Live and this is my favorite brute to date. I love fire farming, but I do not want to change toons to a fire/rad. It just ruins immersion for me. My main brute is my main brute and i don't want to swap out for a fire farm and very few people will team up (I like team farming) if you S/L farm. Well, IOs have you covered and this toon can hang with the better farmers, not the best but still strong. With that being said, what I really enjoy is how much the main (non farming build shines). When built properly you an have very strong resistance without any psi or toxic holds, strong resist across the board. I couple this with capped or near capped Melee and ranged defines. If I die, it's usually (always) my fault. With that being said I did find a build that worked well for both, but I found that when fire farming I had to be really really really on my toes, and i did not want to sacrifice anymore of the main build, so I just made two builds and swap. The only issue with this build is that it is so END hungry that I must rune Ageless instead of Barrier and I like barrier for emergencies. BTW if you go dark/dark/Mu it has a good +End power (forget the name) and then you can run barrier. As a caveat I have seen some very good all around rad /fire brutes, but I feel this one has better overall def/resist without any holes. 4. Corrupter Ice/Storm Mu Many of us, myself included, like to watch the chat window and get all of the kill shots, This build is the king of kill shots IMO. I first discovered it during an ITF and was blown away by there person running it and I was very jealous of their kills shot. I know I shouldn't be, its a team game, but I am guilty. It also has great CC. Very easy to play, just sit there and spam your CCs and AOEs. The only downside of this toon is that it also needs to run ageless instead of barrier, due to its high endurance needs. 5. Controller Kin/Fire from Live before it was nerfed One of my favorite COH experiences was running missions in PI ,in my early 40-ish levels, when this came on line and it transformed from the classic controller to a bringer of destruction and it was a great farmer. This toon could do it all. Sadly it was nerfed. Well thats my opinion and I wouild love to hear yours.
  3. Another thing to consider is if and how you endgame and how you level.. As for leveling I think Sentinels are a bit easier to level. If you solo or are in smaller groups their added toughness makes Sentinels more forgiving. If you level in larger groups you should have someone to help with the aggro and healing so their survivability is loess important and in that case I prefer a blaster. If you just don't do a lot of engame or you shelf your toon after you max it out then I would consider a blaster as I think it is better in group endgame play. When you have your toon completely IO'd and incarnate powered, I see very few added deaths when playing in groups with a Blaster vs a Sentinel and on my Fire primary toons I get a lot more kills and the nukes are way more powerful. If you like a good ranged toon that has a lot of control/safety, try an Ice or x/Storm build. You may also want to ask this question in the Blaster forum as there may be additional useful opinions than just the Sentinel group.
  4. Hey I think i finally pasted the build in properly :)
  5. I have never got the hang of exporting with mids. My key pillars for my style of dom builds are. Ignore the order of my picks as I am too lazy to redo in order of leveling, but I think this one is set up reasonably well. This build also works well with enhancement catalysts, because I can maintain some kind of permadoem even at lower levels, with hasten. 1. Permadom even if you forget to click hasten as I like everything locked down all of the time. 2. I like at least 3 hold-ish aoe powers where something is always up (in this case they are cinders, flashfire + fire cages, bonfire with knockback to knockdown enhancement. 3. Once everything is locked down I want lots of damage AOEs, hence my choice of Fire Mastery Ancilary pool 4. Do good damage on single targets for those AVs that are hard to hold 5. Get as much range defense as possible to avoid death before everything is held. Caveats 1. This is my hover/fly build where I focus on ranged defense.. Another good build is based on superspeed with bonfire is also great, but if you are not watching your cooldowns you can run out of endurance before your next dominate takes effect. 2. Fire imps can easily get crushed on many cases, but I tend to like them as they can create chaos and take the pressure off of me while I'm trying to lock down everything. A nice thing is that the enhancement I use in them gives + ranged defense and + recharge which helps me achieve two of my main goals and most enhancements do not have both and once you stack recharge it leaves little else left. 3. If you are good at remembering to click on haste, while dominate is on autoclick, then you can swap out some of the recharge bonus. But all of the additional recharge bonus does help you spam constant aoe holds. I hope you like it as it is easily one of my 3 favorite builds/toons in the game :) This Villain build was built using Mids Reborn 3.4.7 https://github.com/LoadedCamel/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! 6. I was never a big corrupter fan on live and really enjoyed the baster reworks on homecoming. Then one day I was on an ITF with an ice/storm corrupter and was blown away. It has been my main ever since. Recently I have been post 50 leveling of a water/storm that I also love, not sure if I like water or ice better. With that being said I am a huge fan of fire for just about anything, and the ranged damage of fire is fantastic, where I also love the self targeted nuke of Inferno. I am interested in others experiences with fire/storm and how they would compare it to water-ice/storm. This is why I ask. For my /storm I usually like to run an all ranged playstyle with capped ranged damage coupled with a good amount of S/L and energy resistance. I always try to run barrier as an Oh sh*t safety power. But I have found if I want to spam the hell out of /storm's aoes I need to run ageless instead. So I tend to stay out of melee range. This is why I have been hesitant to run fire/storm since the inferno nuke implies that I hit my build up power, drop freezing rain to debuf resistance and then move into place and nuke. It's probably no big deal, but I am interested into knowing how those of you who play fire/storm go about it.
  7. I have lot's of experience with all other Armors, but Bio makes me feel like a noob. I also use Mid's as a crutch for all of my builds and it just doesn't tease out the details. Basically what is the game plan for survivability and how does it work under the covers? Thanks!
