  1. CoH memes aside, I love how that text goes from phrases like "lesbian hellions" and "throbbing phallus" to "metastasized through the body politic" within a single paragraph.
  2. Knowing the internet, it's more than possible that the conversation the OP describes has happened multiple times, but I believe I was watching that guy having a tantrum on Help. He was moaning about being given contradictory advice when it was one person listing all the options he had for getting incarnate stuff. Was rather amusing all in all, although had I been one of those trying to help, I can see how it would've been pretty infuriating.

While I love both Dark Blast and Dark Miasma, I actually feel they're not a great pairing - Miasma already crashes the enemies ToHit so much that Blast's extra is kinda irrelevant, while getting a heal in your attack set isn't worth much when you're already got one of the best heals in the game. A D/D Corruptor or Defender isn't going to be a bad character by any means, but it's one I feel isn't going to quite get the best out of either of it's powersets. If you're willing to go for the recolouring option then a Fire/Dark corruptor would be a better use of Dark Miasma IMO. (while Dark blast goes better with sets like Cold or Storm but they don't recolour quite so well). A Dark Dark controller on the other hand has less unnecessary overlap (no redundant heals, and the secondary can't stack as much -ToHit as Miasma so having some more is nice) and Darkness Affinity is probably even better than Misama, so would be my suggestion is you want a "support" type build over a D/D corruptor or defender. For recolouring options, Fire/Dark is, again, a very good choice. Can't really give that much feedback on the melee characters - I've play a Dark Armour tank on Live, and it was amazing, but I've always been put off by Dark Melee's lack of AoE so never really tried it.

  5. Personally, I regard the damage debuff as a far bigger problem than the def debuff. Sure, the latter can really hurt when it happens in the midst of a big fight, but the former stops me from playing my character. It's just not fun to have 10 seconds of not being able to punch people with any effect when I'm playing a powerset that's meant to be all about punching people really hard. And being not fun is the worst sin a game can commit in my book.

I'm playing a Time/Sonic, up to the low 40s (forget exactly), and I'm pretty impressed overall - Time offers fantastic buffs and debuffs plus a solid amount of healing, while Sonic is both a good single target set with some control for when you're soloing, and a huge force multiplier against tough targets while on a team. There is a small anti-synergy in that with Time you really want to be in the middle of the enemies so Time's Juncture can be at its best, while Sonic's AoE powers (barring the nuke) are cones, but it's not that bad, and even a Howl fired from inside a group will usually hit a good number of targets. In terms of powers, I took all of Time, skipped Shockwave, Amplify and Screech from Sonic, then Hover/Fly, Hasten, Maneuvers, and Power Build Up/Temp. Invulnerability, with Boxing/Tough/Weave planned for the last few slots.

  8. Somehow I've managed to limit myself to two characters at the present (well, I've made a whole bunch more but I'm only playing two) as I really do want to get at least one of them up to 50. Once I've done that though, I suspect the floodgates will open for me, and I'll have a dozen or so toons on the go....

I haven't played a Dark blaster since live, but from what I remember, while there might be some scope for changing numbers around, I don't think there needs to be a major overhaul of the power behaviors. In particular, one thing I would definitely not want to see would be for Dark to lose either of it cones attacks. Having only that shape of AoE is part of what makes Dark interesting - only AR really shares that aspect. If we were to tweak anything in terms of power mechanics, I'd like to see Blackstar changed from a classic nuke into something that fits with the ranged behaviour of the cone attacks.
  10. If we're doing binds, I'm a big fan of changing my F keys to inspiration types e.g.: /bind F1 "inspexecname resurgence$$inspexecname dramatic_improvement$$inspexecname respite" That way I can easily pop a green pill regardless of how my inspiration bar is laid out.
