  1. Sewers! Want to see my character's dry cleaning bills? That's why they're always out of influence! Dry cleaning bills and having to replace boots! You CANNOT get the stink out of your boots! Especially when they're totally submerged in that muck!
  2. I tend not to mind when people don't respond to my macro'd buff tells... It makes the ones who do respond more special, and they tend to RP in their response. The other times I'll send a tell to a rando is usually when they have a cool costume or bio. Which usually gets a response. Maybe the people you're seeing get angry about no response to their tells are sending tells like what they're saying in general... And who answers an asshat with anything other than an /ignore $target.
  3. I remember being on a few TFs back in the day that lasted really long because we ended up RPing a lot, with the same core people in the TFs. Fun times and made a lot of the TFs less of a slog and more enjoyable. Now I just wish I could find the chatlogs and comics I made about them.
  4. It would be nice if we could set up a "coalition crossroads" base. Where you would have limited build area available and limited options, but the ability to build teleporters to specific bases in your coalition. I'd love to make a building lobby style base that had the lifts work to get you to the offices of each of my SGs and coalition ones. Ones a toon can't access would just give an "Appointment Necessary" message when they try to access them.
  5. Like I keep telling people... I don't have Multiple Alts Disorder (MAD) I have Multiple Mains Syndrome (MMS). I love all my characters equally, even the toons I've made just to help new people learn how to play with certain ATs.
  6. Everlasting being the "Unofficial RP Server" won't have much impact on your playing the game. It just means that sometimes you'll see some odd things said in local chat that you should just chalk up to role-playing and move on, or hide on a rooftop and listen to (some are funny to eavesdrop on). I've been on a few "RP Mission Teams" and most are... Just teams.
  7. Teamwork over the current "herd of cats" philosophy that most "teams" have. Building a pure Defender (minimal attacks with as much team support as possible). Nothing like joining a team, keeping them buffed, and then hearing "Did you ever attack?". If you want an Offender (anyone else remember that term?) hire a Corruptor. Teaming with people who don't mind chatting a bit before/after a mission. Even if it's someone giving newer players tips/hints prior to a mission. Macros! I love it when people have macros/binds for powers so their character says/does something when they activate a power. See a toon on a cellphone, they're either AFK for a RL phone or calling a contact. See one eating a doughnut or drinking coffee, bio break. Once knew a player who was a Fire blaster that always said "Yoga fire" and such when attacking, I LOVED it. They bring RP to the game and add depth to characters. Had one team kick me after a mission for using a macro that said, in group chat, "Don't worry about me, I just healed $target." when I would use Absorb Pain. Sorry but it's an easy way to keep the other healing types from wasting End trying to heal the un-healable. And when your primary tank was a Fire/Fire Tank who probably should have rolled a Fire/Fire Brute based on the powers in the ID. Now some teams/players have actually asked me "How do you do that?" so I give them a quick class and point them to the forums/wiki.
  8. Don't forget the bad things from back when too... Teleporters of doom. Join what you think is a team running missions for the xp boost, only to end up getting teleported to the top of the tallest building in area. Okay, not the top but just off the top, so you could fall to your doom. Or into a mob in Perez Park... Teleportation bungie jumping. Jump off the building and hope your teammate can port you back before you splat. (Not bad, fun!) Ninja Invites! Always seemed to happen right as you jumped into a mob in PP. Just punched the first Skull and IT would appear... XX has invited you to a team. Click "NO" and hit the next Skull. XX has invited you to a team. Lather, rinse and repeat. Hopefully you survived... Running the Badge Express in certain zones... Our SG would post porters at each of the badges and plaques. Then we'd invite a toon and port them to each one, trade them to a new team when they got to the end of each team line, and pick up the next new person. Sometimes the conversations they would see from our members would get priceless reactions. The first time facing a Tsoo Ancestor Spirit. Thought we arrested it when it disappeared at half health. Were really surprised when it reappeared and wasted our Emp Defender.
  9. I turn on the No XP option quite often. Especially when Contact X won't give you the missions for Badge X if you're greater than level ##. Or when I'm ready to level to the next tier of Enhancements so I can have enough influence to equip the important powers.
  10. While I've seen a few chuckleheads in the global chats (Help/LFT/Global) I haven't seen any true toxicity in chat. Nothing like I've seen in other games that is. The chat is usually very helpful and sometimes funny. Never had another player look at my toon and tell me "Your toon is ugly" or "You have to have power X to make it as an AT of X". I have had people tell me that they like my binds (and given a few classes on how to make them too). But toxicity? Nope. Guessing the author of that article was on at a bad time or was making up fluff for their story... No chatlog/screenies, didn't happen. Can't say anything about Discord servers (only use it for Server announcements) or other forums (which, if they're not this forum they don't really count). That's my 2 influence worth (drops them in the jar).
  11. I remember this happening at the end of a Positron TF... Right as we were getting ready to attack the boss. Then they had a rollback and we had to restart, with a new team. A new team that was WAY inferior to the previous team... Ah, good times.
  12. Having the same issue here. Tried different characters, but no joy. Each time it freezes and boots me back to login screen.
  13. Hm, technically there is a finite number of options. What is the maximum number of characters for a character name...? ;) In all seriousness though, I completely agree. If you cant think of a name that works in English, try another language. German, Italian, and Latin all make good character names. I had characters named "Shadowcat" "Hellcat" "Radiation" "Beautiful violent death" ... and that's just the ones I can remember off the top of my head, in other languages The last one, I am particularly fond of her name. I may remake her, or if not remake her reuse the name for someone else... I digress. Another great resource for character names is baby name sites. Not just for real names, mind you, but again delve in to names in other languages and you can find some names with really cool meanings that have a good sound for a superhero name. Half of my characters have names translated to Irish Gaelic or Scottish Gaelic and a few German names. Just have to point people to your I.D. card if they ask (and you bother to put the English version there).
